Google
Dento Piano Cafe has been a place I’ve been wanting to go to for a while and my visit was somewhat mediocre. The lavender oat latte had beautiful latte art and tasted wonderful (perfect balance of sweetness). There was a fly in my latte so one of the baristas was super kind enough to remake my drink. However, the egg sandwich was one of the worst egg salad sandwiches I have ever had in my life😭. Like no joke… it was super sweet and I think the mustard or mayo taste was too over the top. Either they made it wrong or the proportions are just off. I also bought the almost $20 mango bingsu and I was disappointed. I could barely taste the mango. I think I would only come to this cafe only for their drinks. Other than the food, the ambiance and the cleanliness of the cafe is amazing, music isn’t too loud, staff are attentive, and there’s wifi + outlets for studiers. Overall, not a terrible experience!

Google
Very cute, clean place with piano right in the cafe, although I was not there when there was a player. Cannot give 5 stars simply due to price, $6 base price for a regular matcha latte which was more than $7 after tax and tip, and was just a small 12 oz ‘regular’ size. I suppose I’m at fault for going for it but didn’t realize it would be just such a small cup, since I don’t normally frequent such places and indulge in pricey beverages.

Google
Came by for a hot chocolate and loved the ambience here! The piano was closed (didn't ask if could be played), but there different sits, tables and what nots. Great spot to chill a little and enjoy a hot beverage. Seems like they also do piano classes. I Also learned they have Bingsu (Korean shaved ice desserts), but didn't get a chance to try.

Was in the area tonight and stopped in for a coffee...so glad I did. The night shift barista, Gabbi, was an absolute delight! Great customer service and my flat white was fantastic! I will definitely go back and recommend to others. 😊

Google
Very nice vibe and seating area. Bingsu is sweet and fresh. Perfect for 2 people and doesn’t melt too fast. They apparently use fresh mango as seen on Instagram but the taste is more covered bc of the jam. The owner is super nice too.

Google
Came here to hang out while my car was being worked on nearby. A lovely little airy spot, industrial space yet also cosy due to the variety of thoughtful seating areas around a grand piano in the big room. The breakfast sandwich was excellent and inventive - served cold on a very good cheese croissant, It's primarily lovely fluffy egg salad on a little stack of fine ham and topped with pickled jalapenos & onions which add a nice freshness and crunch. Oh - and it's huge: I had to take a break midway through. This is my new spot to hang when needing a comfortable place to spend some time in SOMA!

Google
Such a cute Korean cafe and so happy they opened in the neighborhood 😊 need more spots like this in soma (or just sf in general) Coffees were great - didn’t get to try the food but both bingsu and sandwiches looked amazing. Came here on a Saturday 11am and there was live piano. Awesome space for a chill working sesh! Owners are super friendly and hope they do well ☺️

Google
I’ve been bamboozed; I was told I could eat the entire bingsu by myself but it was too much!!!! I got the Korean one, and it was so yummy—lots of toppings and I liked the the condensed milk came on the side. Really cute study vibe with free wifi and a bathroom. I’d go back to see someone play the grand piano. Not a ton of seating though

Yelp
I cannot recommend Dento enough, i honestly wish i knew about this place sooner so i couldve come more sooner. The service was great, quick, and offered some wonderful suggestions. Not going to lie when i got the avocado toast i was a little taken aback bc its not what it typically looks like. I can say hands down this is the best avocado toast ive ever had. Each bite takes you through sweet, savory, and sour; it was such a ride. Also the shaved ice is a MUST, im totally getting the strawberry one next time. The Ambiance was relaxing and soothing, i cant wait to come back!

Yelp
Cool spot! I came here on a weekday morning to get some work done. Decent amount of seating, but not many outlets at all (or I couldn't find them), so definitely come fully charged. The WiFi is also pretty darn slow, even for browsing, so was also a limiting factor. I got a cortado, and the espresso pull itself was solid. Well balanced and smooth. The milk was off though (as you can see in the picture). Just pretty rough, too bubbly and not smooth, which led to a lack in texture. I'll probably be back to try their bingsoo for dessert, but don't think I will for the coffee or as a place to work!

Yelp
Sunday 9:30am: Love the classy cool vibe, friendly service & of course the tasty food. I saw Avocado Toast on the menu so was willing to walk through a dicey part of SOMA to get here. What an oasis! The large floor to ceiling windows surround the modern, elevated industrial design. Folsom facing windows frosted to mask the reality of where you are. There's a couple comfy sofas, lots of seating & a large piano. The perfect place for a Ladies Who Lunch, complete with a glass of wine & a piano concert. First thing inside the door is the order counter. Because I didn't completely read the menu I missed the options of tomato, onion, cucumber, even a potato chip add-ons. I wasn't adventurous enough to have jam layered in with the avocado & hard boiled egg slices. The bread was actually toasted! Absolutely yummy, although the avocado was about a day short of completely ripe. No matter, this fruit is near impossible to gauge ripeness before you cut open. Oh, the beautiful presentation. Upscale ceramics & gold tableware on a heavy black metal tray worthy of SFMOMA gift shop. By 10:30 am there was a steady stream of locals, dogs & children in tow. I'll definitely come again with a newspaper & relax with a Bingsu & chill in the soothing atmosphere. I hereby proclaim Dento Piano Wine Bar & Cafe destination worthy. Support Local!

Yelp
Cutest cafe in Soma with probably the best bingsoo I've had in SF. Their bingsoo is very milky in flavor and they layer mango purée into the ice to ensure there is fruit throughout. The mangos were very sweet and loaded generously on top as well. They were extremely busy on the weekend and forgot our order but were very apologetic about it (gave us additional mangos and a scone).

Yelp
Been there 2x this week. This review was supposed to be a 5 star review because food was great, ambiance is perfect. The service with whom did our drinks and bingsu was amazing and I loved their smiling faces. But the time we were done and almost heading out, the cashier who was wearing glasses called my attention to let me know I can't get milk from the dispenser bec it was just meant for those having coffee, anddd other customers could actually hear. I told her my side because the last time we were there, I went to the cashier to ask if I could BUY extra milk for my matcha but the cashier that was there that time told me to just get milk from the dispenser. This lady didn't want to hear what I was saying and was just saying, yeah yeah.. Anyway, we loved the Mango bingsu & personally told the lady who prepped it. Even was looking forward for next weekend so we could have a good brunch again. But will maybe have to pass for now.

Yelp
My friend and I were in a rush so we got the mango bingsoo to go. It was so good! We really regretted that we couldn't enjoy it there because it was hard to eat out of the to go cup. Probably one of the best mango bingsoo I've had though!

Yelp
This place is amazing! The Bing soo was so delicious. They have live piano performances on weekends from 11a to 2p. Highly recommended!!! Owner was so nice and had excellent service!

Yelp
Ordered the misuguru (Korean grain shake) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Refreshing and tasty. Very nice cafe with plenty of seats if you want to work and modern decor. Lots of natural light makes for a nice environment. Pricing is a touch high, especially on the food side Drink was made pretty quickly.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute place! The perfect hangout with friends or somewhere to work from for a little bit. The servers were all friendly and the food was ready very promptly as well. We only ordered one thing the mango bingsoo which was such a big and filling size! It was wonderful, the mango on top is cut so delicately and clearly given a lot of care and attention. The mango sauce they serve with it is the perfect way to refresh the shaved ice as you're eating it. And at times I believe they have live piano as well. Lovely place can't wait to go back and try more!

Yelp
New cafe in SOMA! Very chill and relaxing cafe that offers coffee, sweet desserts, and sandwiches. Came here a few times to do some work and love coming back here! The Mango Bingsoo is very delicious, the mango is thinly sliced but very fresh and sweet, served with additional mango syrup. My friend liked their lavender latte, with my personal favorite being the iced korean latte. Service is always nice here and they also host live piano music on the weekends! Interesting concept as the owners also teach piano lessons and there's a piano room to rent out as well. Would come back for the vibes to their bar menu later in the afternoon.
google avatar

Yelp
What a lovely spot! Immaculately clean and vibey, they also have free wifi and a lot of nice seating. The owners seem Korean so there are things like Misugaru, Korean Latte, and a bunch of Bingsus to try. I loved doing some work here in the afternoon, as it's not too loud or crowded either. The location is a just a bit odd in SOMA. Will def be back!

Yelp
Super cute spot with a comfy cozy but modern ambiance. We came soon before closing on a Saturday ~5:15pm but they let us lounge there for a while! The menu had lots of great options, including 4 dif flavors of Bingsoo. Plus it was happy hour, so pastries were half off! The ham and cheese croissant was delicious, big, flaky, and warmed up. The mango Bingsoo was yummy - I liked that they are generous with the mango, though I didn't love the pineapple chunks or the flavor of the shaved ice as much as other places. Would definitely be willing to try it again to see if it was just a one-off! A great place to sit and chat or work.

Yelp
On one of the hottest heatwaves in SF, so thankful I found this spot! It's a cozy environment so if you want to work out of a cafe, meet up a friend or take someone on a coffee date, this is it! They have so many different option and have a happy hour menu. We got a mango bingsu, a beer and a cocktail drink. Their bingsu was perfect as it was able to cool us down. The cocktail has yuzu so a bit of Asian flavoring to it that normal cocktails at a bar. I liked the vibe it brought as it sort of bridged the Korea style dessert to American style dessert/drinks. Their staff was extremely knowledgeable and gave great recommendation. I didn't know what a Korean latte was and the cashier was able to give descriptive details on how it tasted (I ended coming back a few days later to try it and it was accurately described!). They bring the order to you and give a warm greet and goodbye!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday on a very hot day, which was perfect. Also there was no line and no wait. I got the mango patbingsoo with no syrup. Soo good, mangoes were ripe and fresh. I liked that they cut the mango slices very thin too. Cute unique little utensils as well (shovels for spoons). Very refreshing and not too sweet. Highly recommend this place for a light dessert that's not too sweet.
google avatar

Jolie W.

Yelp
Came here for their pastry and cocktail happy hour on a Thursday afternoon. Love the vibes and aesthetics of this place. Super calming, attractive pastries, and I got the yuzu cocktail. The cocktail was 10/10, yuzu flavor very strong and on point. The croissant was disappointing because it was not flaky nor sweet enough (but it was the end of the day). But i love the overall vibes of this place, and their bingsoos look amazing, which I haven't tried, and I'd definitely come back and give those a try. Staff were all super friendly as well!

Yelp
Our New Favorite Neighborhood Spot When we are thinking we want a treat, Dento Cafe comes to mind. The vibe is welcoming, yet confidently restrained. Clean. There is a precision and thoughtfulness in every item. With DJ and team's vision, preparation and service, a chicken salad sandwich becomes a special moment. They get my flat white just right. And a Pineapple Sour is the perfect low-alcohol refresher before exploring SOMA.

Yelp
Mi am so grateful for places like this in the SOMA neighborhood. The coffee and service (counter service) are fantastic. I love a space that has dual functions. The fact that this space doubles as a space for piano lessons, amazing coffee, and wine/sake in the evening is perfect.
google avatar

Rudy G.

Yelp
This place was amazing. I went here for the first time because I was craving shaved ice but they have what's called bingsu which I think is the Korean version. I'm not even sure if it is pure ice or ice with milk and sugar but it was so good!!! The dessert might have been meant for 2 but I ate it all by myself and I'll do it again! It had shaved ice, fresh cream, the ripest freshest mango and ice cream. They also served the extra mango slices on the side. I assume they used a whole large mango. The dessert is also so pretty and presentation was top notch!

Jordan V.

Yelp
The staff were super friendly and enthusiastic, and the cafe/bar itself is immensely relaxing. The Mango Bingsu was fresh, visually appealing, and a perfect size for splitting between two people. Got the Lavender Latte to go, which tasted great. I personally enjoyed its very slight sweetness. Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
Cutest coffee shop in SOMA. You feel transported out of the city, out of the US, even. The drinks are excellent, crafted with care and pride, the vibes, immaculate, with a grand piano as the centerpiece of the sitting room. People study here, listen to music here, and enjoy life here. It's a surprising find in otherwise industrial-feeling SOMA, but I'm so grateful for it. The owners are kind and helpful. Extremely polite and curated such a gentle, peaceful environment. It's cafe culture as it should be.
google avatar

Kevin Z.

Yelp
I don't know what kind of black magic they use to make their matcha latte, but the first sip was heavenly. The matcha flavor comes through and is perfectly incorporated with the milk. The ice is fantastic. The vibes of the place are quite cozy and features a piano in the middle, but I came during a Monday morning so didn't get to experience the magic. Barista was friendly and service was pretty quick. You can see them making drinks and it adds to the nice homey vibe of the shop. Would come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Dento is a coffee/wine bar and is also a great place to get some work done. It has ample space with plenty of seating to choose from. -Sandwiches/coffee with many choices to choose from. -Parking can be tricky around the area, across the street has an hour spots! Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely come back!
google avatar

Annie S.

Yelp
I came here for coffee, and I loved the ambiance (decorated with plants, a grand piano, and books) and appreciated that it wasn't crowded. I had ample space to work comfortably and sip on my Americano. Friendly service! I'll definitely come back--especially for the alcohol after work some day!!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the matcha latte (barely any matcha taste, more like sweetened green tea powder? and it was quite milky). but they have an interesting korean latte. the cafe is quiet and bright so it's great for working/chatting
google avatar

Vy T.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood coffee shop. I live a few minutes away and always stop by when I need a pick me up. Love their Sake bar aesthetic. You can see it when you're waiting for your coffee on the far right side of the shop. I will 110% be back to try some of their sake in next couple weeks.
google avatar

Hilary K.

Yelp
Live piano with my coffee was such a nice way to spend a Saturday morning. They were so nice too. Definitely coming back
google avatar

YooBin K.

Yelp
Warm, light and cozy interior with lots of Korean mangas and books on the shelves. The ordering station is right next to the door as you walk in and there's a bar seating on the left and right. The left side is where the open space is with more chairs and tables. There were 2 large groups present when I went with my boyfriend. It felt like a nice place to enjoy coffee & meet with friends. Chai latte was very yum and the cup they serve the drinks in are very Korean cafe like. Recommend~
google avatar

Yelp
A SOMA Hidden Gem!! This place is such a cute spot with tons of comfortable seating options--whether you're looking to chill on a couch or get some work done at a table, they've got you covered. There was barely any wait when I placed my order, and the barista was super friendly and patient with my questions. I decided on an iced matcha latte, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! Definitely one of the best matchas you can find in this neighborhood. I also tried their avocado toast, which was simple yet delicious. They serve a generous portion of avocado over some jam, and while I hadn't had sweet avocado toast before, this unique twist really worked. The tartness and sweetness of the jam paired perfectly with the avocado. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!
google avatar

Vivian P.

Yelp
AMAZING! First time coming in and absolutely loved it! They said they opened 3 months ago and I'm sure this will become a popular spot. The iced latte was great! Amazing ambiance - lots of seating, wi-fi, and the best service. Definitely will be coming back!
google avatar

Suki L.

Yelp
This place seemed so cute and had a lot of variety. The service was great and was able go answer my questions on the menu. I was surprised how big the ham and cheese croissant was and it was definitely worth it. The iced matcha latte was better than some of the ones that i have had in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
New coffee / bar in town! Friends and I came for coffee and to hangout on a Saturday at 2pm. This is a great space with lots of couches and lounge chairs to hangout at! There's also plants, books, manga decorating the space and for people to read. This place reminded me of the Friends' coffee shop or the How I Met Your Mother bar! I got an iced oat milk latte and it was delicious, I would highly recommend. I would definitely come to this place again (maybe to checkout the bar) and recommend it to anyone looking for a good coffee or a place to chill at! Great new addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Dento Coffee & Wine Bar just opened in SoMa recently in part due to Mins Group, the team behind high-end Asian restaurants and omakase experiences around SF. During the day, they serve a nice array of coffees and breakfast-type foods like pastries. I enjoyed the Chicken pesto panini ($13) which I saw being made right in front of me, so it was very fresh. It was perfectly-pressed and I loved the chicken, pepper jack, pesto, spinach, and dried tomato on a crisp ciabatta roll. Unfortunately, I scarfed down my iced matcha latte because I was biking with it on Folsom with it in my bike water bottle cage/carrier and hit a bump, causing the top to fall off. I didn't lose as much of the beverage as I could've, but drank it quickly so I could continue my journey. Curse you, Folsom St bike lane for that!! Service was warm and friendly, and I enjoyed reading while I waited for the panini. The decor is bright, clean, airy, and tasteful. I liked the plants, bar seating, books and bookshelves, and comfy seating. This would be a great place to do work, read, write, or have meetings at. I also appreciate the bike lane access and nice bike racks outside so I can keep on my bike through Dento's large windows. I'll be back for coffee, but am also itching to try their wine bar at night.

Yelp
PROS: the barista was super nice and sweet!! CONS: - Chai tea latte was very milky and didn't taste anything special. - The place had tons of crumbs on the floor and table?? Wasn't the cleanest place... there were at least 4 flies flying around the space. So disappointed because I really wanted to like this place

Michelle M.

Yelp
Incredible coffee and even better ambiance with the live pianist. Love dento even when they don't have a pianist playing though too.
google avatar

Rochelle S.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and vibes! My usual drink is their iced matcha latte which is great. It's a good place to get some work done or go for a chat. The owners and employees are very kind!
google avatar

Pink L.

Yelp
My new favorite cafe... a true city gem! Sweet staff (owner, DJ is super cool), beautiful space (great decor), and even happy hour (wine, beer, sake), and LIVE PIANO a few nights a week! Can't wait to frequent this place. You should too!

Freddie V.

Yelp
This place is so peaceful inside. Quite an elegant space! I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for an upscale feel, service, and tasty food options!
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
Dento was a great find. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, nice place to hang out and work (free WiFi + outlets). The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Menu options surprised me, like the Korean latte and all the non-caf options. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was surprisingly good and something I'll definitely go back for.
google avatar

Paola S.

Yelp
Dento is the perfect spot if you wanna spice up your cafe routine on the weekends. The live music starts at 11am and the pianist was fantastic. During the live music it's the perfect place to chat and grab coffee and once it ended the place stayed pretty full, but was more of a quiet, study/work spot. I ordered a cappuccino and croissant, simple but delicious. I am very picky when it comes to cappuccinos and I can attest that Dento's coffee is delicious. The espresso is super smooth and rich. I also tried the lavender latte and salted caramel latte, which were both great. The lavender latte was subtle, so if you're looking for something with a potent lavender flavor, maybe ask for extra syrup. The food was also good, we tried the chicken salad sandwich and avocado toast which were both solid, nothing crazy. The service is fine, standard coffee shop, you order at the bar and then go back for your items, and the employees were nice. Last note: I really liked all the art and how the place is decorated!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Coffee shop during the day, and a sake/wine bar at night. My experience is only with the coffee. Super cozy vibes here and very tastefully decorated. They use equator beans and don't do anything extra like latte art but I will still keep coming for the vibes. They also have non-dairy milk for a bit extra. It is a great place to just sit, relax, talk to friends, get a bit of work done and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Wifi (ask for the password in the front) is pretty fast (100+ mbps down when I tested). A few outlets scattered about as well. The neighborhood could use some more business and I appreciate the risk to open up in this part of town. I live in the area and know that there can be some not so nice characters that come in and out. The location also doesn't have the most foot traffic. I can see this place becoming more popular as more people find out about it. Look for the sign as it's pretty easy to miss walking by.

Yelp
TL;DR - Korean miniature piano bar themed coffee/wine bar with great flavors and friendly service. The space is gorgeous, and while this customer didn't see what happens after dark, I would expect there's more to this place than just coffee. Wife wanted to try a "Korean Latte" so we duck in here for a brief respite from the cold and rainy weekend. I ordered a hot vanilla latte, and while waiting for our drinks to-go, I took in the place visually. Definitely has a very nice ambiance, with a wine-bar aesthetic (they serve wine), despite it being primarily a coffee shop. Their unique spin is they have a piano in the middle of the main floor, so I'm guessing they do some nice after-hours things when they switch gears. Couches are around with some nice chairs, it was all very chic with the soft piano music playing in the background (the real piano was covered). Service was prompt, the space was welcoming, I had no complaints. Flavor wise they use Equator coffee and the flavors of both lattes were very rich and delicious. I could definitely see myself hanging out here for an extended period of time as long as it didn't get too crowded.
google avatar

Julianne T.

Yelp
Great cafe for a quick latte! I was in the area to get my car serviced and stopped by for a matcha latte. They sweeten their matcha lattes by default, which I didn't know until after I got my drink. I typically prefer unsweetened, but the flavor was still good! The cafe itself is cute and the service was very fast. There is plenty of indoor seating as well.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
I was in the area and wanted to sit down for a coffee and a little treat, so I went in here. The parking is pretty much street parking, but I got lucky to get one pretty close by. I ordered a classic iced vanilla latte with a ham and cheese croissant. The workers were nice and all. The latte was not bad, I would get it again if it I was around. The cup it came in was cute because I decided to dine-in, but I felt like the portion was a little less than a regular cup size. I thought the ham and cheese croissant was not the best even though it was the first thing I ate that day. The ambiance however was very nice. There was spacious seating and wifi that is pretty fast along with lots of outlets. There was also a bathroom and a self water bar which I thought was a good touch. I overall had a good experience and would recommend this place for a quick work session with a coffee!

Yelp
Cute little quaint cafe, unique offerings on the menu with Korean flavor inspired drinks and the owner is super friendly. We didn't get any of the food, but looking forward to returning to try other items on the menu.

Ash F.

Yelp
As soon as I walked into Dento, I was not greeted by the cashier with glasses behind the counter. She gave me and my party very rude looks. My producer was with me and she anxiously explained that we needed a place to read our script but I intervened and made sure that it was clear we were customers. The worker with the glasses rolled her eyes at us and scoffed at our orders. As I sat down with my party, we noticed that every customer that came in after us was greeted and treated accordingly. Overall, the experience was unprofessional for such an upscale cafe. The owner Monica peeped over my shoulder as I had my phone out to make this review-- and came toward my party to ask about the customer service (as if she wasn't already standing there in observance). She apologized for the misunderstanding but did not proceed to speak with her employee about the prior engagement. I will not be going back or supporting this business any time soon. Looks can be deceiving!
google avatar

Cindy K.

Yelp
Tl;dr - If you're ever in SoMa and find yourself needing a caffeinated pick-me-up, Dento is a solid option. Disclaimer: I can't speak to their alcoholic beverage offerings, this review is only about the coffee (cold brew to be exact). I usually judge coffee shops by the quality of their cold brew. Dento gets an A-tier ranking from me from how robust their cold brew is! It has a darker flavor profile with low acidity. Cold brew-aside, the staff is friendly. This doesn't look like a good place to do work due to limited seating and power outlets.

Yelp
Ambiance/Service: - v pleasant -spacious compared to nearby cafes -v bright Drinks: -iced americano v watery -hot London fog (not v strong earl gray flavor but v pleasant flavor) would get again WiFi: -v slow (good for surfing, YouTube even) - but if ur here to work and involves big excel files, will not open But overall, v nice cafe!
