Where To Go On A Double Date With A Couple You Don’t Like - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"There’s no official rule that says you need to split everything down the middle on a double date. But there are some couples who want to charge you for eating the last french fry, or even worse, disappear faster than The Flash when the bill comes. To deal with this duo, head to BlackHen in Old City. The soul food restaurant is BYOB and has a menu of sharable sides like red velvet cornbread that's big enough for four and baskets filled with eight pieces of crispy fried chicken for $45. It’s a casual, comfort food spot that works for everyone, but especially when you’re going to inevitably have to cover the tab." - candis mclean

I went here regularly for about three years, mostly for individual counseling, plus a few sessions of couples counseling. I had a great experience. I highly recommend it. The therapists are great. Also, I didn't have a single billing or insurance issue.

I don't know why I didn't write this review sooner. I received care here back in 2023. I worked with two counselors (therapists in training). I was skeptical and nervous about the fact that that my counselor would be undergoing a learning process. However, I found both counselors very professional and their quality of care was top notch.

Forcibly dropped my daughter in therapy at her most vulnerable. Beyond unprofessional and endangering children. Faith Holloway, supervisor, speaks with absolute disdain towards families and had zero concern for child well being. We came to their practice with a high conflict situation. We were very open about that. Once they identified us as a high conflict family because of divorce - she was immediately dropped without helping address her emotional needs.

I think there should be more explanation with the type of service they offer here. More honesty. They arent necessarily bad but if you dont know anything about therapy then you'll have a very bad experience here if you dont know what's coming. Heres an honest description. Most of the therapists who work here are interning and dont get paid well for what their doing. They will usually have a BA in the relevant field but are usually still in school for a bigger one. That means it can really be a hit or miss with your therapist but that's not to bad. What is the real horrible thing is that you will only have a certain amount of sessions with any given therapist before they just disappear without warning. Due to legal reasons they will not tell you why. So you will move from therapist to therapist. This can be quite bad for anyone who takes a long time to build trust or doesnt know how to do therapy. Since you are constantly starting over from the beginning with a new therapist every 2 or 3 months. That was my experience. It wasnt necessarily bad but I have a few choice words about their honesty and the way they go about it. Also if you have a mental illness that requires types of therapy beyond talk therapy then I suggest you go to a charity organization and get a certified therapist with more sessions.

I can’t recommend this place enough! I was skeptical going to a counselor that does income based but I’m so glad I did seeing as I don’t have the budget to do $100 therapy sessions every week. I am so thankful for Karly and look forward to our weekly sessions. She is very professional and helpful and is very in touch on how to level with you. I don’t feel judged or scared of opening up which is super important to me.

Forcing active counseling relationships to abruptly terminate with extremely little notice? During a pandemic? In this economy? When they have the choice to not do this to people? Oh, but giving the option to join a waitlist of indeterminate length makes up for it. Sure sounds like they really care about the mental health of their clients, right? What a joke.

An extremely convenient location in the Belmar area in Lakewood. Good parking, easy access to public transportation. This is a very nice facility, very comfortable, clean, safe.
