Where to Eat, Sleep, and Explore in Denver

"The performing arts are also well represented, from touring Broadway shows to intimate stand-up comedy sets and everything in between. A good place to start is the Denver Center for Performing Arts, a multi-venue downtown facility that hosts musicals, Shakespeare plays, symphony concerts, and more." - Sarah Kuta

"Denver Performing Arts Complex Constructedacross four cityblocks around Denver 's original 1908 municipal auditorium, thesprawling 12-acre Performing Arts Complexnow contains 10venues under one roof. It’s the largest performing arts center under a single roof in the country, and it includes the historicEllie Caulkins Opera House (formerly a large part of the aforementioned municipal auditorium), the Buell Theater (also reincarnated from the onetime auditorium), and the Boettcher Concert Hall. It’s also home to the resident companies of the state symphony orchestra, the state ballet company, Opera Colorado , and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. With all these venues and arts groups under one glass roof, several events happen nightly, including touring Broadway shows, concerts, dance performances, and more. Check the calendar and catch a show or take a guided tour."

I went here on a school field trip to see Hamilton. This was such a pretty place. It was unfortunate that they didn't accept cash but the show and everything else made up for it. The show was amazing, the area was clean, and the view was magnificent. Would definitely come again.

Such a great place to see a play! So many theater options, from Broadway to local shows. Musicals, drama and comedy. Symphony is wonderful as well. Decent places nearby for a drink or bite and several of the venues host private functions as well. Always a stimulating artistic adventure!

Google
Saw Mamma Mia today - amazing show. The ushers were all so kind! The security, however, sucks ass! They are obnoxious and rude - tried to ask two of them twice where the elevator was and they practically pushed my 85 year old dad walking with a cane through the line. Argus security is the worst!!!!!

My husband and I saw A Christmas Carol on December 22nd at 7pm. It was packed and the show was AMAZING! The cast was just fantastic and the special effects made it kinda scary actually so we were impressed. Of course, you are not attending a public show unless a few people in the audience get confused and think they are the main event...This was the case for us as two teenagers behind us were talking the whole entire show. That did not spoil it though as the show was still a lot of fun and a cup of wine helped the immersion. This was one of those nights where it was in the negatives so it was very cold on our way out. We also had to go to the 7th floor of the parking garage despite getting there 45 minutes early (there are multiple plays going on at once so keep that in mind).

Google
Love this complex even if it’s quite a drive away from Colorado Springs. I usually find parking elsewhere down the street cuz the attached garage is quite pricy. Gorgeous design to the open area complex housing the gateways to many different shows and plays. Gorgeous to walk around outside before your show starts. Many different theaters within the same connected complex. Be sure to check ahead of your trip to see if there are street closures or construction. Give yourself extra time to get settled and not have to rush or be late to your show.

Facilities are excellent, stylish, and modern. Loses a star for the usual breakdowns that modern society are suffering en masse- not enough parking and TSA level security checks (OK...I'm being a bit dramatic)

Google
Major cultural institution! The layout is pretty cool-a large covered indoor/outdoor plaza leading to several theaters. Parking right on site. As must be expected, drinks are overpriced and mediocre. But it’s the theater.

Google
I've been to the Buell Theater before, but this was my first time in the balcony. My hearing is pretty good, but we did not get quality sound in the cheap seats. Missed half of what was said so not a great value for this premium show. 😣

Yelp
Writing this for the parking garage. This parking garage is for the entire performing arts center. So it doesn't matter what theater your going to, or just going downtown, there will be PLENTY of parking. This garage is HUGE! It varies on price depending on the show and time you enter the garage. One time it was $20 and just recently it was $15. Good price in my opinion. You could get a little lost so remember what level you parked on and what general area (closet to the street, close to the theaters, etc.). Also might help if you remember where you entered and then you could always back track. The credit card machine takes a picture of your license plate so it should be a quicker way for you to exit come time. I would suggest backing into a parking spot so when it comes time to leave you can pull out and merge into the line to exit the garage. I've seen people struggle to backout of spots. Over all it's a huge parking garage and I think it's a good price if you will be downtown for a while.

Yelp
I've quickly become a regular patron of the DCPA over the last two years. I'm a student studying musical theatre, so part of my own studying is going to different performances around town, including Broadway touring shows when they pass through. When I first started going, the accessibility seemed a little challenging, and they even started putting me in seating areas that my descriptive audio devices wouldn't work well in. However, once I connected with their access coordinator Danielle, things have gone much better. With her help, I'm able to get seats where I can be close to the stage (so I can try to use the vision I have left to enjoy what I can?"), and where descriptive audio will never be an issue. She's also gotten me discounts and additional benefits after bringing some other issues to her attention, which has made me feel like the staff listens to customer feedback and takes it pretty seriously. Each of their spaces is pretty nice, especially the Buell Theatre and Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The only one I'm not a *huge* fan of is the Kilstrom, but maybe that's because I sat in a weird area. Ushers usually tend to be pretty helpful, but I always try to know who the accessibility liaison for each performance is in case I do have issues. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied by the DCPA, and strongly recommend going to see some shows here, especially to support live local theatre. You likely won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Everytime , I go to the DCPA. I leave stationed, and in awe. The performances are too notch. The staff is friendly.anf knowledgeable with getting safely seated. The prices are reasonable and parking is accessible. I highly recommend department. They also have classes and activities for.youth

Yelp
DCPA is always a great time. Usually love the shows and the productions that are put on are phenomenal. I have been going to the complex since the 80s. It's a staple of Denver. Can't wait for this season of shows.

Yelp
DCPA has many components: - the Boettcher Concert Hall (round theater and home of the Denver Symphony) - the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (formerly the Auditorium Theatre) - the Helen G. Bonfils Theater Complex - a huge parking garage with restaurants, bars and the recently relocated Dazzle Jazz Club. We enjoy all of the entertainment venues. Fortunately, we are close by and walk vs drive and park. Yet, the parking garage is awesome. We particularly enjoy the plays at the theaters in the Helen G. Bonfils Theater Complex. Thank you Denver for these amazing venues!!
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
Many different performance venues here with something for everyone. So far I've been to Ellie Caulkins, Boettcher, and the Buell. All are maintained very well and there is a bar or two in the performing arts center outside these venues. Additionally there is convenient parking in the garage and many places to eat and drink nearby. Great place to go see a show.

Yelp
We went to the Wolf to see Hamlet and the presentation was superb. The set was minimal allowing you to focus on the presentation. The costumes were spot on perfect building on the performance and allowing you to travel back in time to whitness this story delivered by the likes of Ty Fanning (Hamlet) and the rest of the ensemble. As for the Center itself, the Staff is totally focused on ensuring you have the best time possible. The food and beverage offered is awesome down to the fact that you can pre purchase a drink for intermission so you don't have to wait in line

Yelp
I came downtown with friends by Lyft - Black car for only $21 + tip. Easy check-in and breezed thru security. Major good surprise, hot water in the rest room faucets. People were not stressed. I saw only a few persons wearing a mask. We sat in Orchestra 2 near the back and were slightly off center, so perfect view of stage. Tina, The Musical followed Tina Turner's life from her birthplace in Nutbush, Tennessee to St Louis, then London, England and back to the U.S. Virtually every song that Ike Turner and songs she had created for her were sung. In most cases, the actor/singer was spot on. There was an 18 minute intermission between Acts 1 & 2. Act 2 was her top hits. A very enjoyable performance.

Yelp
I have never encountered such a problem with men's restroom facilities like this! Two (2!) urinals for a line out the door backing out clear to the rail in the center level! For a multi-million dollar facility and gem of Denver, this is OUTRAGEOUS and I don't understand how it could possibly happen or why it has not been fixed. This is a shame of national importance and scope and extremely damaging to the experience of attending an event there. We saw MJ (Michael Jackson) there April '24 and everything else about the experience was epic and Five Star (5!) from the acoustics to parking to the venue itself. Fabulous! To utterly destroy the "intermission experience" by not having sufficient restroom capacity is really deafening to the purposes of why people attend events and go back. I really hesitate to drop this to 3 stars but this needs to be fixed and is a real insult to sensibilities, and simple respect. It's probably even a city code violation?

Yelp
I had a wonderful introduction to the Wolf Theater at DPAC to see their production of A Little Night Music. The blocks and blocks of venues, and little nooks for food as well as ample public art and views can be confusing, but there are many friendly folks around to help you find your way (as well as help Lauren Boebert find her way OUT last week). The theater was intimate as befitting the production, and it was one of the most comfortable spaces I have ever visited, and the ONLY one to leave a personalized note of welcome on my seat! Visit this center whenever you can! It's terrific! And if you're a Sondheim fan, see this show. If you're a fan of strong vocals, see this show. And if you've lost complete and total faith in true love, see this show.

Yelp
DCPA produces terrific theatre. We've had season tickets for several years and drive down from northern Colorado to see the shows. Quality theatre from every aspect - variety, set design, terrific acting. We closed out this season with 39 Steps. What a fantastic show! I love the stunning setting of this venue looking toward the gorgeous mountains! Beautiful if you have time before the show to hang out and relax with a drink. The individual theaters also provide an incredible theatre experience. My favorite is The Kilstrom Theatre (it's a theatre in the round). Basically, I hate the drive down I-25, but the experience is always worth it!

Yelp
Having been to Broadway, and all of the bigger cities, such as New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, I have to say that Denver is holding strong! The lineup and the options of theaters, it's pretty wonderful. We saw the nutcracker by the Colorado Ballet, and it was incredibly enjoyable with a whole new approach to it! It was spectacular. Outside of the theater,e we were greeted by buskers playing holiday music. It made a great evening!

Yelp
It can be overwhelming how many venues of various shapes and sizes are crammed into this block. Luckily, on show nights, there are always people around to direct you to the right place, and the whole thing is covered. (On non-show nights, walking through here can feel like a wasteland of giant concrete emptiness.) Big, small, or in between, the venues are impressive, well suited for their purposes, with comfortable seating and good sight lines. Productions are great and varied; I've seen way more Denver Center Theater Company than the big touring shows.

Yelp
This is a great venue for Broadway shows and musicals. I've sat in a lot of different sections and each section provided a pretty great view of the show. I didn't feel like anything was cut off or I missed something. The venue is clean and there are plenty of seats and outdoor balcony's to chill at before the show begins. Parking was $10 when I was here and it's very convenient to park my car and have the parking lot be connected to the performance arts venues. Food and drinks are pricey but that's expected and not all that shocking.

Andrew B.

Yelp
My wonderful tickets could not be delivered. Instead I had no choice but to accept bad tickets and a partial refund. This was a special event ( my birthday) and family was driving in from outside of the state. Everyone took time off work. We all pre watched the production. I'm furious and there is no customer service.

Yelp
We've seen so much wonderful theater, dance, and music here over the years! This review is more about navigating the center than any specific performance. Key tips: 1. Many popular shows sell out well in advance. Check out the various websites (Denver Center Theater Company, Broadway shows, Colorado Ballet, Colorado symphony, Opera Colorado, and so on), and follow the ones you're interested in on social media so you get advance alerts when tickets go on sale. 2. Don't let a parking crisis invade your evening. Best strategy is to ride share or use RTD. If you drive, go early, park in the DCPA garage, and enjoy dinner before your show at one of the many restaurants that are within a five to ten minute walk. 3. If you do arrive later and the parking garage is full, our best last-minute backups are the Writer's Square underground parking (15th and Larimer), and the Tabor Center underground parking (between 16th and 17th on Lawrence). Both seem to always have spots and it only takes 5-10 minutes to get from the garage to the theater, which beats frantically searching for a spot in one of the surface lots in the area. 4. Plan your restroom stops. Not much worse than squirming your way through a 50 minute first act because you didn't have time to find the restroom. The Ellie Caulkins theater and the Buell theater, in particular, do not have enough restroom capacity for the crowd size, so allow a few extra minutes to stand in line for the restroom before you find your seats. At intermission, rush to get in line for the restroom, otherwise you'll still be in line when the ushers start urging patrons to go back to their seats.

Yelp
Here for a very nice date. Saw MJ the Musical. Very nice theater for seeing national tour Broadway shows! Above and beyond my expectations.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I am a prior subscriber. I am simply trying to buy two tickets to a show online and I can't because your online system is garbage and associating me "suddenly" to an email I had 15 years ago while the last 10 years you accepted my money and information as a subscriber without any haste. Gross! Horrible experience. If this is the experience of someone trying to get tickets it's awful. I'm disgusted.
google avatar

Bailey A.

Yelp
Have had an amazing experience every single time!! Get your tickets early and give yourself time to walk around inside and outside.

Kathy O.

Yelp
DCPA customer service is rude & dismissive (when you can get someone to answer). This applies to the operator & ticket sales. This was not always the case. They used to be professional & very pleasant. Like others I've read here, I was not able to get a credit for $700+. Instead it was taken as a donation. We were out of the country & unreachable during the timeframe they wanted the credit used by. They gave us zero consideration & offered a receipt so we could take a tax refund (lol, huge consolation). They must be desperate to resort to these measures. We've had 3 season tickets for several years now but will not renew.

Yelp
It was my first time at DCPA, and I was definitely impressed by its charm! My partner and I saw Nutcracker. The venue was grand, the staff was courteous and helpful, and the show was top-notch! Also, I appreciate that they require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test prior to entrance. My only frustration from the experience was that occasionally groups would enter and exit my row during the show and It would require me to stand up again and again. Here are just a couple recommendations if you are seeing a show: Arrive early! Parking at the center fills up quickly the day of - Cost is $10 dollars for the day, so it is a great deal if you plan on spending the day downtown. If you are planning on buying drinks, the bar in the operahouse will be extremely busy during intermission. Instead, I recommend ordering drinks at Prelude + Post, they allow you to bring them right back to your seats!

Jeff H.

Yelp
We've been a big fan of the DCPA, ticket holders for 20 + seasons and somethings changed. Your Customer service has gone downhill drastically. Difficult to get a refund or change tickets and I would not recommend using the DCPA, until management improves their customer service. For example, we had a show we couldn't attend this year and they would not let me apply that credit for next year's purchase of season tickets. We were forced to take an additional show that I really didn't have the time or the need to see. We did not complain during the two years that they had our funds during the Covid shutdown which was payment for season tickets. I still haven't received my refund ($144) for not seeing 2 productions. ALSO season ticket prices went up over 30% from the previous year. So there are lots of choices in this area too find good entertainment and we're dropping our season ticket for the DCPA.

Yelp
Home to most of Denver's theatres for the performing arts, the DCPA is a must visit for lovers of Broadway, opera, orchestra, and live theater as a whole.
google avatar

Teresa S.

Yelp
This was our first time to see a performance here, though we visit our close family in Denver at least twice a year. We saw Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and were amazed! The actors and the stunning theatrical effects made this feel ever bit as professional as shows I've seen on Broadway. The Beautiful venue was decorated for the holidays with lots of places to to get special photos to remember Christmas events for 2021!

Yelp
Located in downtown Denver, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is a complex of artistic venues. Within the complex is the Buell Theater which features high profile traveling Broadway shows, comedy acts, dramatic plays. as well as, musicals. The Garner Galleria Theater is more of a cabaret style venue. It is more intimate with table service. Drinks are reasonable, as are ticket prices. The theater seats about 200 and features musicals and comedy acts. Other venues in this complex of the arts include the Boettcher Concert Hall, Helen Bonfila Theater and the Ellie Caulkin's Opera house. There is a sculpture grounds at the rear of the complex. A unique feature of the Performing Arts Complex are the acting instructions available and backstage tours. Their education department develops the talents of aspiring actors in well instructed classes.. The Theater Company is a Tony Award winning troupe. The Seawell Grand Ballroom hosts meetings, receptions and galas while the Off-Center offers experiential performances. Having all these artistic venues in one place has many upsides but parking is not one of them. Simultaneous popular events can create a real parking headache.

Yelp
I came here for a NY Broadway show- my fam loved it! Then I came here to watch the Denver Co Symphony. It was alright! I think I liked it more bc they had a guest musical singer singing in it which made it more entertaining for me. It was overall a nice experience! Beautiful venue. Park on the street, don't waste money on the garage- depending on if you'll be more than 2 hours or not.

Yelp
Love this setup. So many theaters of different sizes in one location in the heart of Denver. Many upscale and/ or trendy restaurants in walking distance to be able to enjoy a pre show dinner. Plenty of bars around the corner to continue the fun. Easy parking in the huge parking structure. Love the band that is often playing as the shows let out.

Yelp
I did not know what to expect, and I didn't expect what I saw! This place was humongous and it is an open center with many buildings for different stages for different plays and performances going on at one time. The building that we went to was for a play. It was fairly small and very cozy between chairs and tables. There was a bar at the entrance where guests may purchase beverages while waiting for the show to start. During the show someone walked around taking drink orders. The center was definitely very well lit and clean. I like the vbe of it being an open air center instead of it being in an enclosed building. I would definitely recommend all visitors to visit this center and watch a show.

Yelp
Went to see "Goodnight Moon" with my nieces and sister. Organization and staff were friendly and attentive. The entrance thought was difficult. We had to climb up Several steep stairs to get even to the ticket booth, and my 2 1/2 year old niece was not a happy camper. The restrooms were in need of some attention.

Yelp
Always has some terrific shows, and the venue is clean and beautiful and the sound is amazing!

Yelp
Having moved to Denver in late 2015, I've had a handful experiences at DCPA and it's definitely got its charm. Going to see a show here is an occasion, where one can get dressed up and explore downtown before/after. Not to mention the live music acts after your performance lets out for the night. Most recently I saw Dear Evan Hansen, which started its national tour in Denver. Prior to that I'd seen Hamilton, Beautiful, the Carole King, musical, a live recording of "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me", and David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries. Seats aren't too tiny, but even a medium sized lady bottom like mine feels a wee bit squished within. Perhaps it's because I'm going to popular shows that have a packed audience? Probably the biggest downfall to attending a show at DCPA is their parking lot. For as big as it is, they can't accommodate a ton of cars. Plus, getting out of the garage after a show is a nightmare. You could be stuck for another 45+ minutes... It'll be interesting to see how this performing arts center is remodeled in the years to come, with a new parking structure and all. In the meantime, I quite enjoy being a theater-goer and continue to support the arts community here in Mile High.

Yelp
I love this place! There is always so many shows that you can choose to go to. I've never attended one bad show here so far. I've attended some big shows and small shows and they've been outstanding. My latest show I went and saw was the sequel to Phantom of the Opera this past Saturday! It was sad, magical, amazing, outstanding, incredible, and well worth it! I really liked my seats. The place is always well maintained. Beverages and snacks can get a little pricey, but that is expected when you attend something like this. Also, once you make a purchase, there are no refunds! So have a back up person to attend with you if you have no date! Lol Can't wait to come back and see more shows.

Yelp
I love going to DCPA for shows but I was really disappointed that I couldn't exchange or at least transfer my ticket for mean girls to another show despite explaining my circumstances with my flight being cancelled and the soonest flight I could get was 12/31, the day I was supposed to see mean girls. I get that it was the production that was being strict on transferring. But it still wasn't my fault that my flight got cancelled and management should've talked to the production company with all the flights being cancelled on an exception. I realized I should've checked again but there were two seats left on 1/1 even though the agent said they couldn't exchange. Basically the agent told me my only option was to find someone to use the tickets or resell it somewhere and not being empathetic toward my circumstances. Never heard back from DCPA when I messaged them. Thankfully my cousin and her friend used the tickets and really enjoyed it so I'm glad I found someone but really disappointed and upset that nothing could be done since these were circumstances out of my control and the soonest flight I can rebook was 12/31. Oh well, hopefully it doesn't happen again so I don't need to deal with this.

Yelp
To me DCPA is a jewel. The collection of theatres in the center go from tiny club feel (Garner) to formal & grand (Buell). Since the updating of The Auditorium (now the Ellie), there isn't really a bad place to see a show in the bunch. I personally like the Space Theatre's rounder design and the Buell for seeing a show. Although, the Ellie has outstanding comfy seats - complete with LCD tiny screen translators on the seat in front of you if you are at the opera and have no idea what they are saying! Or when I went to the Nutcracker a few years back they gave plot points and facts on it. Nice! Parking is a cinch too. The large covered structure attached to the theatre complex is easy to get in and out of and always well maintained. I know I used it as my go-to parking spot when I do most stuff downtown. All and all it is one of the best parts of Denver!!! Go see a show and see :)

Yelp
At this moment I should be enjoying the second act of The Shining Opera, but I'm not. Instead, I am sitting here angry and disappointed, because I missed the show due to DCPA's lack of organization and parking. I live in Lakewood, and I left my home a little bit after 6:00 p.m. for a 7:30 showtime. I gave myself ample time to get to the DCPA; however, I still missed the show because the DCPA garage and the Convention Center garage were both full. From the time I arrived to the intersection of 14th and Lawrence to the time I realized I would have to miss the show, I sat in my vehicle for over 45 minutes, while other frustrated guests tried to park in garages that were already full. Once I arrived to the Convention Center garage for the overflow parking, I was told to immediately turn around by an apparent staff member who, instead of attempting to help the guests, simply waved his arms at people and yelled, "We're closed! We're closed!" At that point, it was already after 7:30 and I knew by the time I found a spot to park, got to the Opera house, showed my vaccination card, and made my way to my seat, I would have been extremely late, and probably would have been given a hard time by the usher. I was very much looking forward to this event and am incredibly disappointed that the DCPA does not do a better job of ensuring parking for it's guests who paid for overpriced tickets. I would like to think that DCPA would try to alleviate this unfortunate matter, though I find it unlikely. That assumption is based on the fact that DCPA clearly does not care to accommodate its guests by providing sufficient parking, and it does not bother with providing customer service by placing staff members in parking garages who can actually help guests find a place to park. DCPA should be ashamed of itself. I very much enjoy going to the theater, but I will not be attending any of its shows in the future because I will not be giving it my business, nor will I be dealing with the frustration and headache of the impossible challenge of simply finding a place to park. The way DCPA treat its guests is disgraceful and ridiculous.

Yelp
I LOVE DCPA! Not only have I taken classes here (and had wonderful teachers) I've volunteered with TedX at Ellie Caulkins, seen musicals and NPR broadcasts and comedians within the DCPA offerings. I just recently became a season ticket holder. I find the productions at the small theaters just as talent holding as the large predications and I don't think I would have known that without having been a student. I have found the staff and volunteers to try really hard to make your experience a positive one. Love DCPA!

Yelp
This complex is simply amazing! Whether it's a Broadway musical, a world-class play, the symphony, an opera or a ballet performance - everything done here is done right. If you are into the performing arts there is never an event here that is a miss. I've attended events in every space and I've never seen a dud. The parking is easy (although a little pricey) and there are a wide selection of restaurants within easy walking distance. They have many unique spaces to accommodate a wide array of productions: The Stage Theatre -- 778 seats The Space Theatre -- 550 seats The Jones-- 200 seats The Ricketson Theatre -- 250 seats The Garner Galleria Theatre - 213 seats The Buell Theatre - 2,839 seats The Ellie Caulkins Opera House - 2,200 seats The Boettcher Concert Hall - 2,700 seats Go see whatever is playing and you'll enjoy your visit.

Yelp
I absolutely love this theater! My friend got me tickets to watch the Secret Garden and I had an absolute blast! It was interesting to see that they had a women sign language the musical on the left hand side of the stage which I thought was super cool. It was also helpful that the script was also display to the left of the stage which was helpful during times when I couldn't catch what the people on stage were saying. Overall a very lovely venue with a lovely cast.

Yelp
This performing arts center is really quite a gem. I've seen three shows at the Buell Theatre and two children's shows at the Conservatory Theatre. The theatre space itself is spectacular. I've sat all over the Buell and you can see and hear from pretty much anywhere. The lobby is impressive and beautiful. Bartenders are quick, and you can pre-order your intermission drinks before the show. The house staff and volunteers are always friendly and helpful. Obviously, the Broadway touring shows are great, but I was really impressed by the quality of the children's theatre shows. Sets, costumes, and acting are all top notch. They do a great job of bringing children's literature to life, and my daughter has enjoyed every show. I'm excited to check out the Ellie Caulkins Opera House for upcoming opera and ballet companies. Parking is the only downside. There is a parking garage, but you should arrive very early if you want to park there. They do get parked up, and there is often a line of cars waiting to get in on show days. There are other parking options downtown, if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks. Or take a Lyft. Or ride your bike! I feel that Denver is pretty lucky to have such a great, easily accessible performing arts center.

Yelp
I love the DCPA! I've been to a few different theaters there: The Buell, Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the New Space Theatre. All were great! Lots of seating, clean, friendly and helpful staff, decent ticket prices, great performances. I love how these theatres are all so close together, easy access. Can park there at the venue or take the light rail, uber..lots of choices. There are plenty of bars, eateries, coffee shops all near by too for before or after a show. ya'll need to come see for yourselves!

Yelp
A beautiful, well maintained space with lots of great light because of the wall of windows. I love that they have couches and ottomans to sit at, along with miscellaneous cocktail tables to stand around and even outdoor balconies to step out on and enjoy beautiful Colorado weather. The staff is friendly and efficient with moving lots of people quickly through the metal detectors into their seats, but you want to make sure you arrive early as they won't let you in for the first 10 minutes if you aren't in your seat at opening and they reserve the right to have you miss the whole show until intermission. Lots of drinks, including coffee, water, soda, and alcohol along with a selection of snacks that you can bring into the theater. I do question whomever decided to put popcorn in loud crinkly plastic bags, though. Parking is onsite, but plan on taking a bit of time to exit as everyone circles their way from higher levels to the bottom. We listened to music and grabbed a coffee across the street so we didn't need to wait in our car for long.

Yelp
Buy your tickets in advance for shows and parking. Show up early so you have plenty of time to get situated. There's plenty to do around the area so if you come a bit too early it's no big deal. I showed up early to grab something to eat before our show. Parking garage is great, walk right out to the theaters. I went to the Ellie and it was nice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Comfortable seating. Already got tickets for our next show (this time at the Buell). Clean and spacious. Leaving can get hectic with the crowd of cars, same with coming around the same time. Lines weren't too terrible, but show up to give yourself plenty of time in case there are lines to get in.

Yelp
The hubs and I thoroughly enjoy coming to the performing arts complex. The space itself is gorgeous and well laid out. Plus we love that we can see a ballet, symphony, play or musical all in the same space. This is one of our favorite date night activities and we have seen some incredible performances here over the years. Well worth the cost of the tickets!

Yelp
What can one say about this place? ABSOLUTELY top notch performers, costumes, lighting, scenography, sound and ambiance. Definitely a big difference between the Denver productions and the Colorado Springs productions I am accustomed to. If it was not so annoying driving over an hour to come to Denver I would def be here all the time. I wish we had a train!!! From COS, not from Cabela's :( Anyways, I digress. I think this theater is beautiful and the architecture is quite stunning. I also love that the parking garage is right across with a cupola to keep the visitors dry in case of bad weather. I love this place and this area of the city.

Yelp
This complex is great for plays with a huge variety of things from solo plays at the Garner to Broadway plays and shows at the Buell. I've seen things from "I love you, you're perfect, now change" too "Le Miserable" and "Stomp." The symphony plays here too. I make it an almost yearly habit to see "Christmas Carol" at the Stage Theater. This complex makes Denver a hub of culture among the Rocky Mountains!

Yelp
We bought two tickets to DCPA to see a show on our wedding anniversary. When we got there we were denied entrance. Our tickets had been voided after we received them and our seats sold to somebody else. We were told this was because we had purchased the tickets through StubHub. Our evening was ruined. I've bought tickets to literally dozens of venues from StubHub and never had anything like this happen before. Message to DCPA: WAKE UP!!! Do not void my ticket after I have received it.

Yelp
If I had to say one thing describes The Denver Center for Performing Arts it would simply be that it rocks. Whatever kind of show or entertainment you might be looking for, chances are they've got it. And they've got it good. I also love that they have pricing for all sorts of budgets. I've seen shows for the $20 tag and much, much higher. And they'll do specials like buy one, get one free on certain occasions. Arts are important and you should try to support them however you can. And if you support them through the DCPA you get the added bonus of entertainment. Score!
