The staff member was very helpful to us and had a lot of information. We enjoyed walking and looking at each display. There are even suggested scavenger hunts scattered around the museum. Great variety. We also had fun going downstairs and looking at the old/antique toys. Don’t sleep on this place! A worthy excursion🙂 Plus there’s parking 🅿️ available

A very small museum packed with tiny details. My favorite was the farmhouse, where we could search for 18 cats. The amount of detail in a lot of these dollhouses is quite amazing and a lot of work went into it. Most everything is behind glass that kids can't touch, but there's a LEGO station downstairs. It is two stories with the Gen X toy displays mostly downstairs. There is no ramp. I'm not sure if there's an elevator for those that need it. I can admire the work that went into these creations even though it's not my thing. Going downstairs, there was a very distinct "old" smell in there that I couldn't tell if it was dust, old carpets, or maybe that was the smell of the materials of the Gen X items on display from that time. It was reminiscent of a grandparent's house or closet and it took me back and oddly rounded out the experience to feel like that time period.

A unique and delightful place to visit! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and excited for you to be there. The exhibits are intricate and incredible. The gift shop has tiny items for sale, some for even less than a dollar. The bathrooms are clean and easy to find. Overall, this was a great part of our visit to denver, and we look forward to coming back!

Came from out of town with my family. Newbies to the miniature world but that didn’t matter because the gentleman at the front was so knowledgeable and was able to give us a new perspective to truly enjoy this experience. Spent more time than expected. Will definitely come back.

Google
This place was so cool! The admission is only $5 and the collectibles and miniatures here are great. The gift shop is full of miniature knick knacks and other various vintage pieces for fantastic prices (I purchased 3 items for $4.50) As an antique and vintage collector, I was very impressed. I will be coming back on my next visit to Colorado.

It is a small miniature museum with very little collection in one room. This is display of private collections, the dolls and miniature houses donated to the collector are good but the collection is not huge. Unless you are too interested in miniature art i won’t suggest paying a visit. Parking, restrooms, accessibility should not be a problem.

I never imagined I’d spend two hours in a miniature museum, but this place completely exceeded my expectations. I was traveling and looking to kill some time on a Friday afternoon. Since the museum was just half a mile from my hotel, I decided to check it out. At first glance, it seemed like a small space, but then Neal greeted me and began showing me around. Being the only visitor at the time, I ended up getting a private tour, which made the experience even more special. I’d never examined miniatures so closely before and was blown away by the intricate details in each piece. Neal’s enthusiasm and deep knowledge brought everything to life. He patiently shared the stories behind the art, transforming what might seem like simple displays into fascinating works of art. Two hours flew by, and we had only finished exploring the main room (there’s more downstairs!). Neal’s storytelling made the miniatures ten times more captivating. This museum is an absolute gem, and I can’t recommend it enough! Ps, the hundred year old Japanese doll Ms Yokohama is my fav.

Google
This place is a lovely hidden gem, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The musical itself is pretty small, but you could spend hours soaking up all the details. Next time I'm in Denver I'll definitely visit again.

Yelp
My family and I were visiting from out of state and decided to stop in. This was our favorite stop of the trip and the gentleman working the front was very friendly and knowledgeable. He provided insight that made our experience fun and we ended up spending more time at the museum than expected. Very interesting and a must stop!

Yelp
I almost talked myself out of coming to this museum because I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm so happy I didn't! The outside is unassuming and the interior seems kind of small (ba dum tish) but Neil welcomed us and helped us to see the beauty in the details. I went with my husband and teenager, and even the teen found things to love. They also offer classes (there was a mini tiki bar class going on while I was there!) and I think it's well worth a visit.

Yelp
Really cool Museum for a short activity. The miniatures they had were super detail oriented and really impressive. The people were also so friendly. Really easy to miss driving by. Had a fun morning here and really enjoyed our time.

Yelp
A really unique experience. This is a legit museum. At first glance it seems very small for the $5 adult ticket and $4 child ticket charge. BUT, a person could spend awhile here. The miniatures really do have an incredible amount of detail. This is much more than a single doll house - this is truly art. Each item is themed and has so much character. There are some toys to see, but the showstoppers are definitely the houses. There is a small gift shop where prices are shockingly economical. I would say this would be a place to find a one of a kind unique and special gift at a fair price. Of course, if you enjoy miniatures this would be a place to find items to spark your creativity. I love Barbies and was hoping to see some super old ones. There weren't many Barbies but I did find 2 for sale super economically priced. I recommend the miniature museum. I will be honest you need to consciously slow down and enjoy the artistry otherwise your entree fee won't seem well-spent. One Yelp reviewer said they were no longer open. They are open I will add a photo of the storefront. I recommend.

Yelp
This museum is amazing! The miniatures in all of the dollhouses were beautiful and very impressive. More than worth the $5 admission price, I could spend hours looking at houses in the one main room and will definitely be going back in the future.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon, with kids, or with adults. The craftmanship of the exhibits is amazing - and the museum staff is happy to answer questions. If you need fun, this is the place to go!

Yelp
The hubs and I love quirky off the main path types of museums and that is this museum. It's essentially one big room but you can spend so much time looking at each house. The employee that was there the day we went was fantastic and gave us so much insight and a real passion for miniatures. We all agreed that while we wouldn't be doing this in our personal time, the level of detail was outstanding. They have little rugs that are hand sewn, tiny tables that are carved by hand, tiny little peas in a kitchen. You get my drift, loads of attention to detail that one fumble of your hand while making and it's going to require getting on your hands and knees to look with a magnifying glass. We spent about an hour there and we could easily go back and still see things we missed the first go round.

Yelp
I had spent a few hours at the Denver Botanic Gardens earlier in the day. I was grabbing some lunch. While eating, I was searching for places to visit and found the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls, and Toys. Perfect! I was there in July 2014. I was fairly crispy from spending a few hours outdoors that I completely forgot to reapply my sunscreen, so I was thrilled to be indoors. This museum is in a beautiful home. It is two storeys of cool toys, doll houses, and more from years gone by. I parked on the street and went in. This museum for all ages. I relived my past seeing Alf, Teddy Ruxpin, Mickey Mouse, Fisher Price, Cabbage Patch Kids, ... the list goes on and on! Everything is nicely preserved with information accompanying every display. I loved looking at the accessories in all the doll houses. Some of these doll houses were lavishly furnished, right down to the place setting at the dining room table, which was mighty impressive. It made the doll house that I made in grade 2 look pretty shabby. I had so much fun here. I wanted to stay longer, but I got several texts from my friend asking where we should meet for dinner. Luckily, I saw everything, but would have not liked to have rushed towards the end of my tour. I highly recommend coming here. It's a special, unique museum. (313)

Yelp
So while you would think this would be a great place for kids, it's actually best for adults who appreciate miniatures and old toys, as I guarantee any child that's below the age of at least ten would be bored within five minutes! Adults can appreciate all the tiny deals hidden in every scene and house they have displayed, but I can't imagine a kid would want to stare at the same dollhouse for more then a minute at most! But I personally found the museum fascinating and entertaining, but I took off one star because I was disappointed the gift shop didn't have any souvenirs to take home that said the name of the museum on them (the gift shop only sold miniatures you can purchases)!

Yelp
I heard about the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls & Toys via an article in the Denver Post. The museum has been around for over 40 years and has a fascinating collection of doll houses and other toys. It's a small, but unique place. My husband and I really enjoyed it, although our little one became a bit bored after a while. We were told that more exhibits would be opening up in future, because they're still settling into their new location. Well worth the visit!

Yelp
We came here with free passes from our library. This museum is in an old house filled with lots of dolls and toys that with fill you with nostalgia back to an age when life was simple and carefree. The intricacies of all the dollhouses are simply amazing and the toys from different eras and countries are sure to bring back memories of some point in your life. There is a Dollhouse on the first floor for kids to play with and on the second floor there is a lego play area, a Nintendo play area and an elaborate working train set. I loved that they also included Native American toys/dollhouses and dolls from Greece as well as a personal favorite, a display of Star Wars toys. I would recommend this smaller museum to kids of all ages!

Auday B.

Yelp
That s place is awesome!! The museum is in a house that was built in 1890 according to the nice lady at the front desk. The miniatures and dollhouses are amazing and the details are incredible! The kids had a ton of fun, they also have a craft room and an old school Nintendo for the kids to play with... that was so cool.

Yelp
This museum is a interesting place to see, I went for their Star Wars exhibit. It was a large exhibit that featured all types of Star Wars toys both new and from the original movies that first were shown in the 70's. This museum is in an old house and there was no air condition, so it was hot and stuffy. Plus many of the other exhibits were in the hallways of the house which made walking past other people a tight fit. If you like miniatures, dolls, and other toys, then this place is definitely worth a look.

Yelp
I love dolls! The museum is located in an old house. It's not very big but is packed with toys, dolls, miniature items, trains, doll houses, and more. Nice gift shop selling miniatures as well. Pictures (without flash) are allowed and don't forget to check out the biggest teddy bear in the world with its family! They also have a scavenger hunt that was a lot of fun. They give you a sheet with pictures of items in the museum and you have to find them. They have an easy sheet and a more difficult sheet. When we were there they were changing an exhibit, getting ready to display dolls of the First Ladies. It looked like it would be very interesting. They vintage toys were also fun to remember. I remember playing with several of them! I guess that makes me vintage as well. There is also a working model train. A fun unusual day for old and young alike!

Yelp
Fun little place. Loved the scavenger hunt for the kids. Two levels. Recommend if your kids are into miniatures, or if you love miniatures and want to reminisce... (the seniors there seemed to love it). 1-2 hrs here. Like that they have a few things the kids can play with. Also loved the culture pieces (Japanese dolls, etc). Place needs a good dusting though ;). Overall, fun experience, with a bit of history and nostalgia thrown in for good measure. Thank you to the volunteers who keep this place open.

Yelp
Very unique museum! The kids enjoyed seeing all the old toys and how they've changed over the years! And the dollhouses and miniatures......beautiful!

Yelp
We had a fun time here and it is definitely something different. We mainly came here for the tea in their "Oaks and Berries" room but admission to the museum was included so we poked around beforehand. One can easily explore it in an hour. There is also a gift shop for the miniature collector! (which I am not). There are (as one would expect) many miniatures here along with some cool toys from different eras. The one thing that freaked me out was an old doll house from Germany - maybe 1800's or earlier - it was creep-tastic, very dark and made me shiver! It was in a case so I think it will be OK-ha. We headed to the tea room which is located on the first floor and consists of 2 tables with 4 chairs each. There is assorted mismatched china which adds to the charm. We were warmly greeted by Roxanne who prepares everything for you. We chose our teas (Earl and Lady Grey) and we soon had perfectly brewed tea served with sugar cubes and milk. Beware the tea is vigorously poured for you so there may be a little splashing. We were served some delicious tiny bites first - cucumber with dill and cream cheese, something similar to a curried turkey and heirloom tomatoes with olive oil and sea salt - delicious and oh so fresh. We were offered and accepted seconds on the sandwiches and could have easily gone for thirds! Next up were light as air vanilla scones served with clotted cream and jam - perfect! We were again offered seconds but decided to pass as we still had pots of tea and dessert to enjoy. My fave of the desserts were the lightly iced cookies - there were 2 other rich, chocolate desserts that we took bites of - we were so stuffed we could literally not eat another bite. The tea room has lots of dolls in it so if that is not your "cup of tea" (groan) you may not want to go there but you will then miss out on Roxanne's delicious, lovingly prepared bites.

Yelp
When my husband I visited this museum, he noted that he had never seen me look so happy. That includes our wedding day, folks. I spent most of my time speaking in a high-pitch, all-caps voice: "OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE THAT LITTLE TINY CAKE? DID YOU SEE THAT VICTORIAN DOLLHOUSE THAT LOOKS LIKE A REAL HOUSE? I AM DYING. I AM LITERALLY DYING. I AM DEAD NOW." But it was worth it, people. It. was. worth it. The miniatures and dollhouses were awesome enough, but the house they're, um...housed in was equally amazing. "THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE NOW, HUSBAND," I said in most of the rooms. "WE LIVE HERE NOW." I changed my mind about that when I realized that of course most of the dolls come alive at night and would murder us, but whatever. I told everybody at work what a wonderful place this is, and now I'm telling all of you. Go there. It's great.

Yelp
The bf and I made it here on a free Sunday after reading other people's reviews and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how cool it was. The only downside for us was how packed it was, some rooms we had to wait to get into or felt kind of rushed through because of other people; but I'm sure if we went back on a non-free day it would be fine. However, everything else was really awesome. The house has many more exhibits than I would have thought and is much bigger than it looks from the outside. I love that they used an old house for a place that displays dollhouses and old toy memorabilia. They even had a room where some kids were playing the original NES! and the was another rooms that had architecture made of matchsticks and it was pretty intricate stuff! Anyways, I'll probably be back to visit on a less crowded day when there is more time to browse. Don't miss it if you're in the area and love this kind of stuff.

Yelp
This place is really fun! You can relive your childhood no matter how old you are. There are toys from the 1800's (an awesome Nickelodeon that works) to today (Harry Potter stuff.) The building is landmark so they can't change anything about it, which means they have exhibits in the bathrooms, awesome. This is definitely a strange place (rows of dolls are a little creepy) but a treasure in this neighborhood. A must see! They also have private tea parties and workshops, check it out!

Yelp
Was always interested to visit this museum even before i moved my life out here. Today was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and decided to visit the museum. 4 of us went and was kinda confused as i thought it was located where the other museums where.. but actually the museum is down a residential block. Walked in and was greeted by an older gentleman and woman. It was "Free Day" for all the museums I learned. I still gave a donation out of good heart. They did have a scavenger hunt that was pretty neat. Gorgeous Doll Houses with great decor and thought. Displays of old toys from way back when. Dolls that look like they were in your typical scary movies.. wasn't too fond of that room however the over museum was interesting. Downstairs they have a crafty room for children and adults to make things. Today we were given some odd and ends and glue to make a minature kitchen. They supply all the things and no fee and you can take your projects home with you. Man the last time i turn lids and corks to tables and chairs i was in 3rd grade with my yellow smock on. It's a great way to be creative and have fun even if you aren't 5 years old. This museum is a must see if you enjoy dollhouses. Normal admission is 6.00 but i was lucky yet again and its was free day.

Yelp
This museum is small and darling. It was a perfect way to kill some time with my mom (who LOVED it) while she was visiting over the holidays. The museum is in a beautiful old home (owned by the state and rented to the museum). It's definitely more of a small and charming display set up, not on par with the large museums like Nature and Science or the Art museum in Denver. Think explanations/captions for displays printed out and taped to cardboard, not engraved placards. But the information is pretty neat. I liked learning and reading about the different scales miniaturists use, and the scale model of the historic home at 1st and Gaylord was pretty neat. I also really liked all the girl scout dolls. I thought their "scavenger hunts" were a neat way to keep smaller kids engaged. Basically, they have a laminated sheet of paper with a list of things to look for in the museum, a good option for those too young to have the attention span to just wander around looking.

Yelp
On our trip in Denver for our Mom's 60th birthday we had decided to treat her to things we know she would like. My brother-in-law made a fabulous finding of this cute museum he knew she would like. Just saying she really liked it is an understatement. Not only did she like it, we all did. All the staff had great hospitality. Thank you for being a memorable part of our trip!

Yelp
I was more than a little apprehensive when one of my friends dragged me here a few weeks ago, but I really ended up enjoying this place. It's set up in a very historic looking house, and from the outside I thought it looked a little small. Don't be fooled, though! There's actually a ton of really interesting stuff in here, from early 20th century toy catalogues to the original Star Wars action figures to elaborate Harry Potter dioramas. I'm super into models (or really anything miniature) and I totally loved all the stuff they had. There were several quite elaborate doll houses, which were very clearly well thought out and arranged with a great deal of care. They also outlined the history of play and childhood, which is really fascinating from an anthropological perspective. There's so much to explore here, it's definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
My first time at the museum. I went specifically for the Star Wars collections they would be featuring. Regrettably, I forget the name of our host, but she was so kind and knowledgeable. I enjoyed reliving my childhood via the Star Wars collections and there were also some other toys that were there that I had that were not Star Wars related. This was a wonderful experience for me. I loved that it was set up in a beautiful late 1800s home. My daughter enjoyed the scavenger hunt option. I recommend this to others. It only takes about an hour and half to view everything, but there is plenty of history to read about the house and the collections.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the museum. We went for the high tea which was wonderful. It was 6 adults and 1 four year old. And they catered to my little cousin wonderfully. The food and tea was delicious! I would recommend it to everyone. I must say though I didn't see anywhere on the website that tea is cash and check only. And we all barley came up with enough cash for everyone. So they really need to add that information somewhere or let us know when people call to set up the appointment. Perfect for tea!! It was $20 for adults and $17 for kids. This includes museum admission.
google avatar

Yelp
Meh, I guess it's an interesting jaunt if you are a 70 year old lady or under the age of 12. However, I feel as though there are a lot better museums and attractions in Denver which deserve more attention.

Yelp
My little Lovalina aka my daughter has always had a fascination and love affair with anything that is miniature. I discovered this little jewel and decided to take the little one and a friend to check it out yesterday. It just happened to be a free day at the museum, SCORE! I loves me a good deal! They gave us a little scavenger hunt today as we wandered through the museum which was a great idea because it made the girls actually stop and really look at everything. They had a dollhouse from the 1800's that was amazingly detailed as were all the dollhouses in the museum. They also had an old school Nintendo with Super Mario Bros. that I got to play with for a couple of minutes and was instantly transported back to 1987 when I was 11 and used to play with my little brother who always made me be Luigi and then proceeded to be Mario and steal ALL the good mushrooms and fire power flowers. blagh. he was a turd. I took a little pleasure in knowing that I still remembered how to make it to the hidden warp zones. Oh the memories. Anywho it was a really enjoyable afternoon for all of us and they had some craft activities in the basement that the girls opted out on but that looked like a lot of fun too.

L A.

Yelp
This is a darling place. Go when you have plenty of time to look at all the details. The miniatures are fantastic. The matchstick exhibit was incredible and the circus exhibit was breath-taking. Don't miss it. It's sort of in a side room at the back of the upper story. Read the stories about some of the displays. Fascinating. There is limited on-street parking, but the nicest thing was that we were staying at the downtown Ramada, which is only a mile away, and they provided a free shuttle service. An earlier review mentioned contemporary toys. There was only one cabinet of modern toys. If you don't want to see them, keep walking. There's is plenty of other really cool stuff to see.

Kris J.

Yelp
Kids went here with grandparents, enjoyed the museum, but then went into the gift shop--the shop had made a mistake with their pricing on a couple of toys my kids picked out--there was a $15 price, then a $9.99 written above that (crossed out) then a $4.99 in red above that--most of us recognize that as a sale price. My daughter carefully picked out two that fit in her allowance. When they went to check out, they refused to honor the price. After going back and forth, and talking with the manager, and the grandparents saying that they weren't sure it was legal to refuse to honor the marked price, my daughter eventually decided to pay the 3x higher price because she really wanted at least one of the toys. The manager then refused to sell her the toy at even the original higher marked price, stating "well, if you said it isn't legal, then I can't sell it to her." To a 9 year old girl. Really awful way to treat people--way to ruin a kid's day, folks.
