Take a Carb-Laden Food Tour Through Montreal’s Mile End | Eater Montreal

"Almost across from Boulangerie Guillaume on St. Laurent, I discovered an almost-startling selection of Quebec craft beer — over 600 beers, mostly sold as singles, which makes it easy to curate a sample pack; I picked up a few to enjoy in nearby Parc Lahaie (one block south) but noted the reminder that drinking in public technically requires having a picnic on hand, so it’s handy to break out those bagels." - Mallory Frayn

Owner (lady) SMOKES inside and the modelo sixpack we bought was 1 year expired and did not come in the original paper-packaging, but in an aftermarket one without no logo on it. she is definitely bypassing regulations... Sketchy stuff going on here

Amazing selection. Prices seemed totally fair and on par. You will leave with more than you came for.

No complaints on the beer selection. However, elderly lady who was behind the counter was rude and rushing us out while we were trying to help another customer with directions. There was no one else in the store. She seems to have a poor understanding of the basics of owning a business. Plenty of stores doing the same thing in the area, won’t recommend this location based on this interaction.

Place smells like someone inhaled 5 lit cigarettes from tip to filter and then blew it in your face. Fantastic beer selection but the prices are pretty bad. Like 30-50% more expensive than what the beers cost at other places. Only use as a last resort when other deps close early before their posted closing times

This place is why I love Montréal. And what makes this city unique. People poorly revewing it is why I hate the entitled review culture. This place has one of the best alcohol sélections in town and so much spirit. The lady is amazing . If People want their google customer service go else where. Or go to Toronto. Leave the sanctity of such spaces to the rest of us who care for what is real.

Take the concept of a depanneur, add a large variety of beer, sell everything as singles, then charge 30% more seems to be the business model. It's honestly a decent place if you want to get a cheap present, but it's maybe not the best place place for your everyday drinker. Sure, the cashier smells of cigarettes and everyone's a little rough around the edges, but that's classic Montreal. Stop expecting everyone to treat you special, everything to smell like lavender and indie rock to be playing in the background, just because you're in plateau or mile end. If you can't stand a little cigarette smoke smell every once in a while, move to the countryside. Why are you in a city? The entire city smells like urine in the summer.

Utterly rude old woman at the counter. Illegally refused to accept my debit card because my order wasn't large enough! The Supreme Court literally ruled against that sort of refusal as it violated Interac's terms of service. Would rather drink moonshine than buy beer from here again. They deserve to go out of business!

The lady who runs this dep is an angel. When I moved to the area back in the early 2010’s, I was struggling, when my dvd player broke - she lent me hers, when I was short a few dollars - she helped me out until I got paid. I don’t think I ever got to thank her properly but I hope she sees this. Thank you so much, I was a young kid and far from home and you made me feel like I had family around the corner.

Yelp
AMERICANS: READ THIS. They have an absolutely phenomenal beer selection here. That is the only reason I went here. I went to Dieu de Ciel, and ole boy told me to come here to buy their beer... They don't have everything that is on tap / available at Dieu de Ciel, but they had several. I picked up a couple six packs. Then went to pay the bill. This is where the AMERICANS READ THIS comes from. Ole girl / Little Lady only accepts Canada bucks. Not US. Not US Credit Cards. So I had to get rid of one of my six packs and use up the rest of my Canadian Bongo Bucks to pay the bill. Other than that, I had an absolutely wonderful experience.

Yelp
So this is just a dépanneur corner store where you can pick up a pop and some smokes or whatever, but what is special about it is the beer selection. Rows of local and imported microbrews i.e. deliciousness. Downstairs is a video store which, in this day and age, must make like 0 dollars, so hopefully they will expand their knowledgable and tasty collection of brews and make this place beer lover heaven (beer emporium!) The second thing worth noting about this sweet brightly lit shop is that the woman who works here (and is the owner I believe) is hilarious. She has a great dry, sarcastic sense of humour that gets me every time, and she's quick to let me know when a beer I'm looking at on the floor is available cold in the fridge instead. Highly recommend for both the beer and the dearheart.

Yelp
I was recommended by a friend to hit up this place for some QC bottles/cans as Beer Advocate only has 5 places to check out for bottles, and this place wasn't on the list. Lots of bottles and cans in a pretty open space. I had limited time and this place didn't help as I was overwhelmed with beers and my lack of french didn't help either. Left with 2 cases of DDC Solstice and a TDD L'Ours and Dunham Berliner and was quite satisfied. Will come back for bottles.

Yelp
I called to ask for certain type of beer that I couldn't find elsewhere, the lady told me she had plenty ( 3 box of 24) and even describe the bottle for me so I knew it was the type I wanted. We drove for 1h30, and when we arrived there was none. I felt betrayed to have been lied to. Will probably never go back to this place again for this reason.
