Depot 62 – Manchester, Vermont - Gastro Obscura

"It’s pretty standard to find a dining room setup in a furniture store, but it’s not every day that you can actually sit down and have a meal there. And it’s even less often that the meal is something other than IKEA’s famous meatballs. But at Depot 62 in Manchester Center, Vermont, you can enjoy Turkish and Mediterranean food while sitting among handwoven rugs and designer couches. Alp Basdogan, the owner of Depot 62, is a designer and importer originally from Turkey. He opened the store in 2005 after moving from New York to Vermont. The small café serves traditional Turkish food such as hummus, kebab, and güvec, a slow-cooked stew often cooked in a vessel of the same name. Many of the ingredients, from lamb to maple syrup, come from local producers. “Spreading love. Connecting people,” is how Basdogan described the mission of Depot 62 to Upcountry Magazine. At the heart of the café sits a large table covered with hammered copper. This communal table has a great view of Depot 62’s wood-burning oven, which turns out their meats and freshly-made pita. None" - alvarezmahon, Michelle Cassidy

We had such a nice time dining here! The food was absolutely excellent, the staff was lovely and were all so friendly and knowledgable, and the ambience was really cool. The rugs and furniture were all beautiful and there was a huge variety of items for sale, which we had such fun browsing. 10/10 would recommend.

We had the best long and luxurious lunch with our 7-year-old daughter this week. The food was truly delicious, the staff are warm and attentive, and the environment is fun as it’s also a furniture store. If you haven’t been, go!

The best vegan food in town! Multiple items that are vegan and clearly marked on the menu. Fresh Pide bread, roasted leeks, roasted eggplant, warm Humus, Guvec Stew to name a few. All delicious!

Food was five stars! We wanted dessert and asked for it twice but didn't get waited on for 45 minutes and the restaurant was not busy when we were first waiting. Had to go up and ask for check. With non alcoholic drinks, two appetizers and two entrees but no dessert was 140.

A knowledgeable waiter made the experience above and beyond for our family. Delicious food and great atmosphere. We were lucky enough to stumble across this restaurant but they had a nice flow of repeats who raved about the food and the establishment. A hidden gem I would definitely recommend.

Depot Restaurant offers an unmatched blend of Turkish cuisine and antiques/art/furniture gallery. The ambiance merges old-world charm with modern sophistication, making every visit an immersive experience. The mezzes platters (especially the Anatolian Hummus with Sucuk & Leeks) and kofte kebabs are highlights, and the staff's knowledge adds to the enjoyment. For a captivating journey of flavors and artistry, Depot is a must-visit.
