"It is well worth making the journey from Silian up to this place steeped in over 300 years of tradition – perched at an altitude of around 1 400m, it promises a wealth of picturesque views. Not only do the three Villgrater farmhouses and the ‘Genussgarten’ form a beautiful, authentic sight, but you can also feel the connection with nature, the region and the people. Lots of local wood, plenty of ornaments, and modern touches here and there create a rustic cosiness in the various dining areas. Carola and Josef Mühlmann run the hotel together and are also both to be found working in the kitchen. In their seven-course menu the combination of aromatic goat curds, lightly sautéed and mildly marinated trout heart, delicately spiced oil and crispy kale leaf chips, for example, provides plenty of flavourful expression and an innovative touch. On the wine list: Austria and South Tyrol. Tip: You can also buy the delicious bread baked by the chef using flour from the own mill." - Michelin Inspector

The first night of our tour of the Alps we spent the night in this very small rustic hotel. The entire décor is rustic pine and it was small but it was a very nice place. We had a few drinks in the bar, then went in and had an excellent dinner. They don't have many amenities but what they had was nice. We had great mountain views from our room.

We loved our stay, Josef was as skilled in the kitchen as always, our car broke down leaving Innervillgraten and Aaron (a sweet Spanish guy who worked there) stopped and fixed our car in a second! The stay was truly wonderful, we will repeat this winter.

We went to Gannerhof in Innervilgraten for a nice relaxing holiday in the mountains and some hiking. As hotel, Gannerhof is perfectly fine: good beds, showers, etc. The food however is truly outstanding! The dinners are the best we ever had; the winecard is very large; breakfasts are great. You are more than welcome to take anything from the breakfast buffet on your hikes. On top of that, the hotel serves soup and cakes from 1500-1700.||Service is very friendly. You are made to feel part of the family instead of a guest. Proof of that is the many people staying at the Gannerhof that came for years (up to 25) already!||We will surely return! Once we trained off the kilo's we gained:-)

Gannerhof is an outstanding Inn in a remote valley. The food it outstanding, the service traditional but friendly and the setting stunning. The rooms are nice but some people may find them somewhat traditional. We stayed for a few days around New Year's Day and had an excellent time with our friends. The St.-Sylvester dinner with live band was great. A little out of the way but worth the trip.

I spent 3 days with my family at the hotel. We try to spend a few days in the area every summer and this time we stayed at Gannerhof. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the service is very good. What strikes the most is the restaurant. I must say that here I have eaten some of the best dishes ever, the cook is young, passionate and talented, I love him!||For three nights in a row we all ate excellent quality food, no downsides!||The hotel also offers a very rich breakfast buffet and a healthy sweet buffet for the afternoon snack.||Totally worth it!

I don't usually go to a mountain location and stay in top hotels, but this is different. I was recommended it by a good friend and, my goodness, am I grateful for the tip. Austria should be proud of this place and no word will tell what should be told. It is simply fabulous in every way. If you cannot stay here - EAT HERE! You will not find another place in Austria which can compete easily with this one. I never knew about this place and have no connection to it - I know, it sounds almost to good to be a neutral review, but I am gobsmacked! Thank you Gannerhof for this surprise! The best!

I've stayed in some pretty fab places before and never written a review, but this place gives such good value for money I felt they deserve something in return. ||It's a charming chalet (annexe building also looks charming, 24 bedrooms altogether i think) in a beautiful location, lovely professional staff, excellent food, wine, welcoming bar/dining areas, bedrooms... ||The seventies decor in the bathrooms must be the only thing preventing them form charging three times as much, so I will happily return to the mustard tiles - there was no bath or DVD player in our 2 bedroom suite, which might have bothered us had everything else not been so perfect.||It's not at all flash, no polished marble or chandeliers, very homey but with the highest standards. Sure I love a boutique hotel and designer bedlinen like everyone else, but this is something really special.

I stayed with friends for a week to go mountain biking and hiking. We are all in the end thirties, used to luxury and interested in good food. We therefore wanted to be sure to maintain our level standard when we return from our tours in the evening.||||We picked Gannerhof because they provide a level of craftsmanship in the kitchen you usually can experience only in Michelin starred restaurants. The difference is that Gannerhof does not try to provide all the glitter and gaudiness of three star kitchen, which makes the price you pay for room and daily evening dinner a bargain.||||The rooms are simple but by no means run down or shabby. We stayed in the "Bioschupfenhaus", which is next to the main building, where you get large, bright rooms in simple wooden decor. The interesting thing about "Bioschupfenhaus" is that this is a several hundred years old wooden house from another village nearby which the owner has deconstructed at its original location to reconstruct it next to the Gannerhof.||||Don't expect luxury beauty products or Philippe Starck sinks in the bathroom. Being used to this from hotels I usually stay in, I didn't miss it here nor do I think it would fit here. Spa facilities are also basic (two Saunas), but it was just right after our tours before the evening dinner which I was looking forward to every day.||||The lounge with the bar is where you can meet the owner daily and chat about wine and food or get tips about trails and tours in the region. Gannerhof has a nice terrace where they serve dinner when it is warm enough outside (even summer nights can be quite cool there).||||All this in the beautiful Innervillgratental with pristine nature providing many possibilities for mountain biking and hiking.||||There is no other place I know that offers this high level of catering for such a bargain price, which makes it a true hidden gem for me.
