I stayed here for 2 nights as a solo traveller and I'm happy with my experience.
For a 4 star hotel, one could expect a complimentary breakfast. This was not the case here. You must pay to eat at their cafe (excluding Monday) across the street, or you can pay 28€ for a breakfast of your choice to be delivered to your door. I was disappointed by that.
The Zauberlehrling restaurant is a separate matter. This is my first experience in this type of dining environment. I chose the 7 course meal with Wagyu A5 instead of lamb. The kitchen staff do an excellent job of constructing a menu that is interesting and well balanced. The food was fantastic. I have never been so impressed by fish, which I normally do not enjoy eating. Wagyu A5 has a reputation that we all knows and the reputation is well earned. That was the single most delicious piece of steak I have ever had. I come from beef country and I love steak.
I will leave more descriptive duties to food critics who know what they are taking about, as I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea. Let it be said that if you are new to this sort of thing like me, the price is shocking but the food and service are excellent. I think it's a great experience for everyone who can afford it to try once. It's eye opening to find out what kind of flavours the pros can put together. I'm glad I went. I don't know when I'll come back again, because I rarely find myself in Stuttgart, but if anyone asks about eating food at this level I won't hesitate to recommend der Zauberlehrling.
