Descanso Beach Club

We spent an entire afternoon, relaxing here and taking in the views. It truly feels like you’re on a Caribbean island with the amazing music playing. Danny was our server and he was so lovely and personable. He proactively asked us if we wanted to take pictures which was so thoughtful. The drinks were strong but pretty expensive. We had the lettuce wraps which were so flavorful. I also had the fish sandwich and it was so fresh! They have cabanas and beach chairs available to rent for the day, but they are quite expensive. It’s free to lay on the beach if you bring your own towel. The water was super clear and we saw several bright orange Garibaldi fish. We went in March and it was a pretty calm vibe and not too crowded. However, I think it turns into a party destination with the DJ in the summer. So it depends on what kind of vibe you’re looking for.

Descanso Beach Club is the perfect place to relax on Catalina Island! Crystal-clear water, soft sand, and comfy loungers. You can swim, sip a cocktail, or just enjoy the ocean view. The vibe is chill and upscale. Highly recommended for a beach day!

My wife and I had an awesome time at the club. It was my first time on the island. Our first day, she booked us a couple of beach chairs at the club. The service from Mitchel was top notch. He really made the experience elevated. Super friendly and professional. Our drinks never sat empty and he was always checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Day two was in a Cabana and again, had the great pleasure of having Mitchel. Great drinks, great service and great conversations. Couldn’t have been happier with our service. We will be returning to the club this summer because of the great experience we had with Mitchel and the entire staff.

Cold beer, tasty food, and a prime location on one of Catalina's most scenic beaches. The bartenders are helpful and friendly, and are willing to work with you on a better rum cocktail if you give some direction. Most of the cocktail menu consists of lazy syrupy tourist concoctions.

Gives a destination wedding vibe, while you won't make your guests travel a large distance. With the beautiful oceanfront, Descanso Beach Club is a perfect spot for a chic island wedding with its tall palm trees and lush fauna. Descanso Beach Club is nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with island vibes and beautiful views. But what truly elevated our visit was the incredible service from Julian. He was an absolute legend from start to finish. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around, he made sure we had everything we needed before we even had to ask. King Julian’s energy lit up our whole day, and it honestly felt like we were hanging out with a friend. My one and only complaint was that we couldn’t hangout with Julian longer! If you’re heading to Catalina, do not miss Descanso Beach Club—and if you’re lucky enough to be in King Julian’s section, prepare for a royal beach day you won’t forget.

Exploring (Catalina Island) for Father's Day is easy with the Golf Cart Rental company on the island; enjoy lunch at Descanso Beach Club before your 4 PM check-in at Hotel Del Vista in Avalon Bay. At the high-end Descanso Beach Club, you’ll find DJs on the beach, upscale amenities (restrooms, shops, restaurants), food and drinks, plus water activities like snorkeling and kayaking. Seating at tables is on a first-come, first-served basis. After getting seated, use their barcode to explore the menu. Once your family is ready to order, head to the beach bar to place your food order. When your food is ready, the bartender will page you to pick it up at the bar. We ordered the Chips & Dips (House-Made Tortilla Chips, Roasted Tomato Salsa, Guacamole), DBC California Sushi Bowl (Sushi Rice, Spicy Ahi Poke, Avocado, Pickled Cucumbers, Seaweed Salad, Shaved Radishes, Edamame, Furikake, Nori Paper) and Cilantro Grilled Pacific Swordfish Sandwich (Creamy Pineapple & Red Cabbage Slaw, Brioche Burger Bun, served with Sea Salt Fries), and bottles of water. There will be a food server at the bar to help bring your food order back to your table on the beach.

I recently visited Descanso Beach Club and had an amazing time. The location is great, with easy access and beautiful surroundings. The atmosphere was really good, perfect for relaxing. The views were simply breathtaking, making it a perfect spot for photos. We also enjoyed the food, especially the good cocktails and the delicious guacamole. Overall, Descanso Beach Club is a fantastic place to spend a day, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great beach experience.
