"For more than 30 years, this lively, rustic downtown staple has helped define the craft beer scene in Bend and America. Its vast array of experimental and seasonal brews is the real draw here, and they are well-paired with classic pub dishes, like poutine and pizza. Deschutes is the go-to place for thick, juicy Central Oregon beef burgers. Eat and drink in the large dining room at an intimate fireside table, or in the covered and heated outdoor space. The upstairs has recently been converted to a game room with darts, vintage video games, and shuffleboard." - Barb Gonzalez, Jeffrey Stull

This brewery is a reliable spot to grab a good burger and brew. Their in-house beer selection is fantastic. The brioche buns with their burgers are light and add to the burger experience. I didn't care for the Mac and cheese, it was a bit bland but if you stick with a burger you can't really go wrong. The atmosphere is fine, it can get noisy depending on where you're seated but it's never been overly crowded when I have been there. They do not take same-day reservations. The service is friendly.

Google
Attentive service and great food! The Gochujang Chicken Sandwich in particular was a stand out. Honestly one of the best Fried Chicken Sandwiches I’ve ever had anywhere (hopefully it moves from their specials menu and becomes a permanent addition). The Mac & Cheese was also very good - rich and decadent and served with either a Garden or Caesar Salad. My only complaint is the ambient sound level. I realize it’s hard to mitigate the sounds of dozens of people talking at once, but it was quite loud and became tiring after a while. They do have outdoor seating so that may be the move if the weather is nice. Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area! 👏

As you’d expect, Deschutes is known for their great beer, but they also serve delicious food! Over the course of a couple of afternoons, I visited local breweries, and Deschutes was definitely a highlight. One day, I had their salad and vegetable pizza (which left me with plenty of leftovers), and the next day, I tried their salmon burger special. Both meals were fantastic, and the beers that paired with them were great, too. I sat at the bar, and the bartenders were quick and friendly—excellent service all around. I even picked up some merchandise for myself! I’ll definitely be back.

This place has a cool modern rustic vibe. The food was excellent. The elk and veggie burgers were great top notch. My husband loved the rum barrel aged stout.

Google
Loved the beer, but 4th of July food special was not that special. Portion size for grilled peaches and burrata was small. Not worth $18.

Google
Great selection of brews on tap. Dog friendly patio. We had beet salad, brisket dinner and fish & chips for lunch. Servers are friendly & helpful. Must try peanut butter pie for dessert 🙂

Great beer and delicious food! Service was super fast and helpful as well. Would definitely come back!

Google
The beer flights here? Next level. Every pour had its own vibe, from crisp and hoppy to rich and smooth. The ambiance was exactly what you’d want from a local brewery — lively, welcoming, and full of Bend charm. A must-visit spot if you’re in town and love good brews with even better vibes.

Yelp
The service, food & ambiance at Cascade Brewery could not have been better. What a great place to have a happy hour drink and a happy hour meal. We will definitely will go back. Joyce

Yelp
Had several hours to kill before my flight home so I figured I'd spend it trying beers at Deschutes! This place is massive, likely able to seat upwards of 200-300. But this Monday afternoon the crowd was mostly regulars, which brought me back to reality a bit. While Bend is a tourist destination, it's still small town! The waitress took amazing care of me despite my numerous tasters and small orders. I eventually ordered some food, including their mirror pond cheesy artichoke dip and the gouda bacon sausage on the side. Delicious! Hoping to return to Bend in the winter so another visit here is an absolute must!

Amanda C.

Yelp
This place is OK. I don't have much to say about this. I had high expectations and everything was just ok. We ordered the chicken wings fry rib. It was fine. The chicken was kind of dry. The rub had some flavor, no spice. The blue burger was fine. The chips were good. The pizza crust was burnt. That was a huge bummer. We don't like IPA, so we ordered non IPA beer, and all the beers we tried just tasted very hoppy. Theo not good beer was the Porter. Again, everything was just ok. I won't return and I do not recommend this pub.

Lisa C.

Yelp
I like the ambiance. Spacious bright lively but not loud. Service was excellent. Food was pretty good, nothing outstanding. I had the salad with steak.

Yelp
Deschutes is famous for their beer, as they should be, but their food is really good as well! I was in town for a few days, so I spent a couple afternoons trying out local breweries. Deschutes did not disappoint! I tried their veggie pizza and salad one day (plenty of leftovers), and their salmon burger special the next. Both meals (and accompanying beers) were awesome. I sat at the bar, where each bartender was friendly and fast (great service, overall). I even bought myself some merch! I'll definitely be back!

Ellie R.

Yelp
Great affordable beer selection with a knockout menu to go with. The Elk Burger was meaty while not gamey and paired perfectly with the bacon jam. The Burratta Salad was massive and very filling but not heavy, hands down one of the best salads in Bend. The ambiance was spacious with a cozy dim interior, the ideal beer hall environment with speedy friendly service.

Lacy D.

Yelp
Obligatory stop when in Bend. I was underwhelmed by the pretzel itself, but I really liked the mustard and cheese mixture. The wings were pretty tasty. My husband and I sampled a few different beers and sat outside on the patio. They were playing 90s/00s pop which only enhanced the experience. It was a beautiful late September day, perfect patio weather!

Scott B.

Yelp
Pretty good food, place to hang out. One of the originals has expanded to a lot more than its early days footprint, it's gotten a lot more modern in ordering and the like, but the food and beer still hit the spot. Only two NA options are available, but both glasses of suds hit the mark. Also, I was really surprised pleasantly with the Nashville Chicken Sandwich. It was pounded a bit flat (good thing) so the right size to eat, breaded perfectly, cooked just right with a zesty but not overzealous coleslaw on the bun. A definite eat again, I'd say.

Connor S.

Yelp
I went for the Black Butte Porter Sausage Sandwich because it's local and unique to this restaurant. It certainly didn't disappoint! Wildly flavorful and stuffed with cheese! The hoagie roll was incredibly fresh and the ranch was a lovely combination of typical bar style ranch with dill mixed in. Our waitress, Sarah was top notch! We had a large group and a friend of mine inquired about this disco ball that was above our table. Sarah immediately asked about it with her coworkers and came back with a ladder to further investigate! Turns out the disco ball was functional! Lastly, the peanut butter Oreo crusted pie with a dark chocolate ganache was an incredible finale to an awesome meal and service!

Chanel T.

Yelp
Overall our food was pretty good. I wasn't expecting it to be but we were pleasantly surprised. Flavorful salad. I always have to order a pretzel and cheese when it is on a menu. It was really good! I especially enjoyed that the cheese and mustard were mixed together. I do that anyways - We shared an elk burger which was delicious too, didn't even get a picture of it my husband scarfed it up. We ordered the pasta and cheese for our soon which was the least disappointing part of the meal but he seemed happy eating the cheese off the pasta. Tried some tasty local beers and CBD. Server was sweet and attentive Great spot for family dinner and right downtown. Cheers

Henry And Kelly M.

Yelp
They have cider! We each got one, which came out to $17. Bar seating area was nice, and they had sports ball on!

Michael P.

Yelp
We went to this little pub house for some drinks and a bite to eat for lunch. I had been to the location in Portland so I kinda knew what to expect. The beer is good as always. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a group of 10 and they seated us quickly. I had the nashville chicken sandwich. It was very crispy and not too spicy. It had some good spices and was very tasty.

Vivian L.

Yelp
These are the BEST dry rub wings I've had! I ordered the dry & spicy wings and they were the perfect amount of saltiness and slight spice. The meathead pizza was also great. Apricot Tart beer was light and sweet.

Cheryl B.

Yelp
Enjoyed a flight of interesting beers in a relaxed and fun environment. Everyone was super friendly too.

Amanda E.

Yelp
Popped in for a drink and dinner. As someone who doesn't drink, I appreciate that they have two NA beer options. My husband and I both got the Nashville chicken sandwich which was delicious. I loved the fresh (and what seemed to be) homemade pickles. I got fries Cajun style which was tasty and added a slight kick and their homemade ranch is delicious.

Jasmine F.

Yelp
It was a must to stop here our server was amazing and helped pick out beers and was very kind. Great atmosphere for friends family and good food. Everything I have was delicious but the artichoke cheese dip was out of this world good, I had to have more. Was not disappointed at all!

Nora S.

Yelp
As some other reviewers have noted, this place is very touristy. But that doesn't take away from the quality of the beers. We rolled into Bend on our road trip from the Bay Area to home in the afternoon. We didn't want to spoil dinner, but I really wanted to try one of what seem like a dozen breweries/cideries in the area. We only had three days in the Bend area to cover them. The flights are a little pricey here. I opted for the flight of three of the darker, aged beers because both my husband and I love that style. All three were fantastic especially the barrel-aged sour. So good. We tried four different breweries while in Bend (a bit too sporty for us). These were the best beers of the bunch. In fact, the best beers/ciders on the entire trip aside from the ones I bought and took home with me (some of those were fantastic). We also tried the pretzel and cheese and the French onion soup. Both were very good. The latter a bit too much cheese even for my son, the cheese lover.

Khrystyna C.

Yelp
Food was excellent and they lettuces wrapped my burger for me. The beer was tasty and the flight was a great way to try 6 of their brews. The waitress was wonderful and attentive. Highly recommend this laid back place for good food. Open setting of tables can get a little loud but it's a super fun location. Easy place to not be dressed up and catch a beer and meal with friends.

Roger C.

Yelp
We ate lunch @ Deschutes Brewery Public House. I ordered the Fish & Chips w/a King Crispy Pilsner and my wife ordered the Apple Ale Salad. Both our selections were excellent, and our server Alephair was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed, and lively. The sound level was not overly loud so no issue carrying on a conversation. We were surprised how large the indoor dining area was and how easily they can accommodate large groups. Highly recommend for a good solid meal and great beer selections. Free 2-hour street parking can be challenging but we found some open spots two blocks away.

Jonathan S.

Yelp
We arrived at the busy time of dinner, and the team did a great job to seat us with a perfect table and street view despite the crowds. It was a little too chilly to sit outside, so we were very grateful. Our server, Alephair, was fantastic. She brought lots of energy, which we needed, after long hikes and a few breweries before dining here. She was able to bring us a few of the complementary samplers ahead of ordering, so we knew exactly what to get. I stayed simple and ordered the flight with three beers instead of six, and boy were they flavorful. Each of us ordered a pizza, and I can confirm how happy we were. We both agreed that this was probably the best pizza we had enjoyed in a while, and we were glad that the Deschutes team knew how to bake a pizza in a proper pizza oven. Though we did not finish our pizzas, we both enjoyed a midnight snack later in the evening. Though we stayed quite late into what felt like the slow burn of closing down Deschutes, Alephair kept her sass going the entire time. Thanks for a great evening experience!

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed by my visit to Deschutes Brewery. My group had a dog so we needed to sit outside, but an employee told us for patio seating we'd have to order at the bar and couldn't have food. We literally saw people sitting outside WITH food so we didn't understand that. We ordered at the bar, which was awkward because there wasn't a good spot to do that. We just had to awkwardly hover behind people sitting at the bar and try to shout our orders. I didn't help that it was in a main walkway so standing there waiting for our drinks put us in everyone's way. We went ahead and just ordered food for the patio and the bartender had no problem with us doing that... so we think someone was just being lazy when they told us we couldn't get food served outside. We ordered fries and a dip. They were decent! My cocktail was pretty good and the rest of my group enjoyed beers.

Nicole Y.

Yelp
As a fan of their Portland location, we had to stop into this location on our visit to Bend. The Bend public house is their flagship location. The restaurant is pretty busy and there is often a wait for a table. I'd recommend making reservations prior to your visit here. We were lucky to score seats at the bar. We ordered and enjoyed - Fresh haze IPAs BBQ chicken pizza Beers and the pizza were great! I've always had great dining experiences here and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. We had a great time at Deschutes and we'll be back again !

Jessica C.

Yelp
Good beers, as expected, however the food was also soooo good. I'm used to breweries that have a food truck outside but this place had a nice restaurant setting and I'm STILL thinking about the burrata salad/fish and chips that we had. Great spot to visit after floating down the deschutes river.

Christie B.

Yelp
Good place to eat! They are short staffed so plan on waiting to be seated but once you are the service is good! Right downtown makes it convenient if you are out shopping in the cute boutiques. It's bar food but it's good!

Tony V.

Yelp
Food is great, ambiance feels like home, but the service that I got made me feel like a king. The first time I went there was nice, so I had to go back. The second time was wonderful. very very happy

C M.

Yelp
Our party of three ate outside on Wednesday evening in mid September and unfortunately had to wait 55 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering. When sitting out front in the parklet, ordering is self-service via QR code. No problem. Been doing that since 2020. Ordering drinks needs to be done inside at the bar. Beer - as usual, is always good - and food is solid but standard pub fare. What was disappointing was how long it took. After ordering and waiting 35 minutes - probably a bit too patient, was enjoying the beer - went inside to check on our order. Hostess confirmed our ticket was in and food should be out soon. Another 20 minutes went by before the food arrived. Two cups of soup, a Caesar salad and a burger - 55 minutes. Tickets do get lost in the kitchen, but if ordering from outside I would check on the status of the order sooner than we did.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Honestly a bit blown away at how fantastic the cheese and carb elements were. I expected the good beer of course but foolishly expected just basic burger buns, pretzel, and pasta. Nope, fresh warm perfect texture on each carb. Great ambiance and even this foodie was smitten with the dishes.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Saturday night was busy and the food was great! My fries were a little on the salty side but RJ swapped my fires out for some fresh, less salty ones. Great customer service buddy, thanks! The flight of beer was great as well. It's fun getting to fill your flight with your own choices.

Lauri H.

Yelp
A friend told us to visit and it was worth the stop. Fun atmosphere and great beer (a 20 oz was $7.25, we thought that was very reasonable!). I liked the pretzel and cheese dip but my partner didn't as it was too rich for him. The smash burger was good. We liked experiencing the Oregon craft scene.

Jack S.

Yelp
It's not just the food, service, and ambian It is the customer service that makes it so easy to get to and from DYNAMITE

Ken O.

Yelp
Finally visited this famous brewery in downtown Bend. Well known for their beer, their food is excellent also. We had an all meat pizza along with a dinner salad. Excellent pie and their apple vinagrette should be bottled for sale! Very clean with a great PNW vibe. The service was good also. We will be back to try their other dinner offerings along with their great beer selection!

Alexander G.

Yelp
Deschutes Brewery is probably the most famous one in Bend, a town known for excellent beer. This location was their original brewery facility and still serves as a pilot system for small batches. They have these exclusive beers on tap here only. The restaurant has been built out as more of a restaurant and brewery shop, with a full food menu, huge taplist, and plenty of areas to enjoy your visit. Entering, they have the old bar area behind the host stand, with a separate building of tables for groups. They also have a second story with games including real darts (which we played a long time). The service here was topnotch, both downstairs while we were seated and to get additional drinks while playing games. It's cozy here with big windows, soft lighting and plants, exposed brick, and everything Deschutes Brewing. They offered a number of flights or make your own; one friend who had never had their beer chose the core flight, the rest of us chose the exclusive release flight. Everything was as great as expected. Also as you enter, you'll find a Deschutes merchandise shop area with everything you could want - hats, shirts, sweatshirts, and beer stuff. They also have bottles and cans to go, including limited barrel aged releases. This is a can-not-miss place to visit in Bend - even for people who don't enjoy beer, the ambiance and food will be worth it.

Ryan A.

Yelp
This is a typical big name brewery restaurant but I was surprised on how good the pizza was. I will say, be careful of getting garlic on it, as they put a whole head on there and that was wayyyy too much. Our server was super nice and talked to us about things to experience in Bend and she was a lot of fun. I was a big fan of the Cajun fries and the Aioli they give you with it. Seems to be very busy most of the time but that's usually a good sign.

Stan H.

Yelp
I was in town for meetings, and water better to do for dinner, then head to the Deschutes Brewery? Well, that question is rhetorical, the answer was very solid. I had a great time, definitely will repeat. Very likely will again frequent the Portland location. I ordered the elk burger. Well, the burger I received was not quite what I was expecting, it was absolutely delicious. The menu says there's cheese -- and there wasn't. But surprisingly (for me, Mr Cheese) it wasn't missed. The mixed greens and vinaigrette were topped by two very nice tomato slices. I generously applied the housemaid ale mustard. And it was off to the races. I upgraded my side from the house, potato chips to the pub fries, well done, which was a solid choice, particularly when I added additional ale mustard as a dipping sauce. I was at a Brewery, right? So I had to have beer. I tasted a few of the old standby's against their seasonal's, and wound up with Hop Flambé Red IPA off of their Exclusives list. I am not usually an IPA fan, tending more towards ESB/amber/Scotch ale... This was nearly perfect. Unbelievably delightful. If it's available next time I'm in, I'm definitely getting it. And of course, what meal would be complete without dessert? The dessert menu says "peanut butter pie". Well, that is not entirely wrong... I read it more as peanut butter brownie bars. The only description that truly matters is that this dessert was definitely shareable, and it was absolutely delicious. 10/10, highly recommended. Absolutely will repeat.

Betsy R.

Yelp
Good beer, great food and attentive servers. Depending on time and day you go, but most of the time, expect it to be busy so you may have to wait. Def a lively place like most public houses so could be loud but a fun place and must visit when in Bend. The menu has something for everyone - burgers, pizza, pasta, and is vegetarian friendly. The mac and cheese with broccoli is always a favorite as are the fish and chips. Fun fact: they also make their own veggie burgers which I greatly appreciate. Seems most places lately use fake processed meats instead of taking the time to make their own. So kudos to whoever made that decision! They also make some pretty amazing desserts. Really can't go wrong here.

Traci M.

Yelp
I'm giving this 5 stars but please keep in mind this is a chain restaurant. We ordered an app of fries a custom pizza and the chocolate peanut butter pie. Service was friendly and the food was good. I'm giving 5 stars for that slamming peanut butter pie - it's a must try if you have room! As a warning putting roasted garlic on your pizza means you're gonna get HELLA garlic.

Tis N.

Yelp
This is a great place to hang out near Bend, Oregon. The ambience was lively and relaxed. The food was delicious. The beer was wonderful and the staff was very helpful and kind.

Linda F.

Yelp
The oldest brewery in Bend, they distribute widely. But there are some beers on tap that I can't get at my local beer store. The place was packed and hopping on a Friday night. Why wouldn't it be? It's iconic and they make great beer

Shelly B.

Yelp
We came here with no intention of eating and ended up getting a smash burger - may be one of the best burgers I've ever had! And if you like fries, their fries are amazing. Fresh cut every day. Kip at the bar kept us happy with drinks. I would recommend this place a million times over!

Melanie A.

Yelp
Tried this spot based on reviews and was not disappointed. Everyone in our party had different ordered and everything was incredible. Fresh ingredients, great flavor & pretty fast. Service was great as well.

Dan M.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. Kind of plain "bar food". The beer is the reason to come and it's fantastic. Felt like a Disneyland restaurant. It's fine, I was hoping it felt a little more "Divey". You can buy merch up front but I would go someplace else in town for the food.

Alex S.

Yelp
Great beer, great food, great people. (They have cocktails and whisky too but it'd be irresponsible to have more drinks) Freaking love this place!!! I've only had their black butte, since I'm not local, and I was taken aback by the variety of beer available here! I thought there'll be more browns/potters/stouts but I was surprised to see that they have a lot of IPAs, ESBs, some sours, lagers and even a Belgian! You can get a flight of 6 if getting a little of everything is your thing. I got the Elk burger for food and it was good. It's a little dryer than beef (is it supposed to be?). I really like the slight sweetness that the bacon chutney added to the burger. For dessert, I got the peanut butter pie and it's effing amazing!

Tony J.

Yelp
Brew pub of Deschutes Brewery in downtown Bend. Decent crowd in late Friday afternoon. Has a bar area and a larger area with tables to the side. Got a seat at the bar. Large selection of their craft brews on tap. Food menu is small, has the common pub food like burgers and fish and chips. Got a glass of their nitro stout and an order of the elk burger. The stout has that bold coffee and a little bit chocolate-y flavor. The burger has a hefty 1/3lb elk patty, cooked to medium as requested and very juicy. Not a huge difference from beef, maybe the texture a little less coarse and less of the beefy taste. Not gamey at all. Has a sweet aioli and lots of cheese. Bun was decent but could have been warmed up a little bit. Otherwise a pretty good burger. The burger came with chips which were super crunchy, but slightly on the salty side. Total was $30+ with tips. Not cheap, but beer and burger were good.

Jacqualyn E.

Yelp
Look I read a review and it wasn't pleasant, so apprehensive I still came to find out myself. Astonished that the bad review was totally wrong. Walked in greeted by a team of friendly people, Sat promptly at the bar. The bar staff super knowledgeable and charismatic! Austin and Kip are a duo! It's always enjoyable to go somewhere and have interaction with local staff that you can tell like their job! Unfortunately all we order for food was a Caesar salad, but it was tasty. I'd suggest the whiskey to try, because why not it's good and you really can't just get it anywhere. Outdoor seating, a gift shop, the pubhouse is not one to pass up. Been to an abundant amount of breweries and this one is on my top 3 list! Do yourself a favor they even serve booze to those non beer people!

Krystle B.

Yelp
We waited 20 minutes to be seated, because they'd forgotten about us but were kind about it. After ordering our food waited another 40 minutes. We only had a veggie burger and nachos. The food was quite small portions for the price and very underwhelming, lukewarm. Server was very kind.

Shirley M.

Yelp
We ordered the 3 piece fish and chips for $22. The fish was the smallest round pieces, fried and DRY with a tablespoon of coleslaw and NOT great French fries.

David R.

Yelp
Very good beers and a nice selection of food. Somewhat "commercial"/touristy, but otherwise worth checking out. MUST TRY the Hummus of the Moment appetizer plate. Ours was garlic hummus with roasted garlic cloves, marinated feta, artichoke hearts and olive tapenade. Served with cucumbers, carrots, and baguette toasts.

Jeri C.

Yelp
From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by lovely hostesses that were smiling and professional. Upon sitting down, a very nice server, named Jagger, smiled, asked us our names, introduced himself, and gave us the best service we could've asked for. We are from out of town, and he gave us many suggestions on where to go and what to do. He was very knowledgeable about the brewery and Bend, Oregon. He suggested that we get the pretzel and cheese dip, artichoke dip and French onion soup as appetizers. We absolutely loved it! The French onion soup was very savory and the right temperature. The beers were cold, tasty, and fresh. The atmosphere was lively, clean and easy to find. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Loved the big variety of beers here. They let you create a flight and most beers we enjoyed. There was a shandy I discovered that was perfect for a hot summer day. Not sure if they do this everyday, but they seem to have a free sample of the day? So in addition to our flight we had an extra pour of a golden ale which ended being our favorite. They had a special burger that had roast beef on top of the patty - creative and really hit the spot! They have enough variety to satisfy picky kids if you have one. My kid enjoyed his pizza. Gotta give credit to my waitress - she had some sort of injury and limped and I admire folks who push thru the pain, still with a smile on her face!
