Google
Easily one of the most enjoyable rounds of my life. Short course but challenging in a number of ways, and in impeccable condition. Highly recommend playing this course any chance you get!

J S.

Google
Awesome place! Nice fairways/greens and overall atmosphere! Marshall Alan was great and I enjoyed the customer service. I’ll be coming to play again!!

Mark C.

Google
What a great course! Early tee time a d everything was ready to go, range, snack bar and carts with LED lights! Fairways were green, the greens were immaculate and slow at first with the dew then they firmed up and ran better. Great views and the 9th fairway island is challenging! Over all a great course to score very well, if you can keep it out of the water!

Rob B.

Google
Desert Island golf course is a high class facility you should play. The conditioning is amazing with fairways that are well manicured and greens that are in super shape. There are a variety of tees to challenge yourself and the architecture of the holes are amazing. Yes, there are a couple of true Island holes. I was paired with two nice golfers and we all had a great time!

Jimmy N.

Google
Awesome experience playing here. I love the layout of the course and the course conditions were great. The layout of the course was cool because it felt as thought you were playing two different courses. The front nine and back nine had different characteristics to them. Lanny in the pro shop was super friendly and helpful and the rest of the staff was top notch. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Kathy T.

Google
Even though the sign out front says Desert Island, all the internal signage is still The S. Lovely course, fairly flat fairways, well maintained.

Gerard “Rad” H.

Google
The clubhouse restaurant is excellent and open to the public. The restaurant is called THE CRAFT best burgers around. There breakfast is really good, try the California omelette, biscuits & gravy are super good. Titos Bloody Mary's are top notch

Google
Played yesterday at 11am. The place is gorgeous. The practice facility is awesome. The people are welcoming. Very well organized. There is one major issue I have with the course....... The Greens are awful. They overseeded back in October/November and they have not germinated yet at all. They look like a hair transplant gone wrong. I wish there had been a warning before we purchased our round.

Yelp
Like being in a dream! First time playing this course and I loved every minute of it. We had a tee time at 8:10am on a Friday morning and it was like we had the whole course to ourselves. Starter was friendly and offered great advice to play the course, and he let us tee off early or whenever we were ready. Course is in excellent condition with not a brown spot of grass to be seen. Typical Palm Springs course that is challenging but not punishing, relatively flat but with well placed bunkers and many holes along the waters edge. I cant wait to play it again soon!

John H.

Yelp
Played there today and the course was in horrible condition. Several of the tee boxes were just dirt no grass. The fairways were in very poor condition with bare - brown areas throughout. The greens were very slow and several of the greens had bare and burned out areas. We paid $77 per player to play and it was not worth it. The course has been very neglected. Sad to see years ago this was a nice course.

Dustin W.

Yelp
Beautiful course with well manicured fairways, roughs, and greens. Very picturesque and fun hole. Signature hole 9 to the island and over the lake was a lot of fun. 9 1/2 bar even drove our food and drinks out to us after we ordered so we didn't have to wait at the turn. Every staff member was kind, friendly, and inviting. This is great golf course and overall experience, we will certainly be back to play it again soon!

Yelp
I love this place. I've taken golf lessons, did the 18, ate some food, had some drinks. Everyone is so nice and it's very pretty. Everything ran like clockwork for the course on a busy Sunday.

Yelp
My sister and her husband paid to have their wedding here. We decided to play golf here too to make the occasion even more special. For the golf it was not worth the price. We had over 8 people play. Two people who just started playing,, majority of decent players, and a couple of really good players. We were just excited to be here. However, our excitement turned into anxiety and anger quickly. They schedule their time slots too close to each other. It was an intentional attempt to squeeze in as many golfers as possible. The Marshall kept rushing us and he was not nice at all. It was Military golf at its worst. It wasn't our pace of play. It their pace of play that was the problem. I do understand that we had some not so good players but please don't give us attitude and dismay in that way. I hate paying for golf for you to only get there and they act like you are bothering them. It was truly the case. It was one of my worse experiences ever. The other was a delopidates low budget public golf course but even that course the staff was amazing. The only saving grace was the cart guys. They were super friendly and even apologized for their staff behavior. As for the wedding the bartenders weren't any better they were rude to all the guests and cut us off 30 mins early from the open bar. I didn't want to make a fuss because it was suppose to be a happy occasion but I was rather pissed off. This was my little sister's happy day and overall the experience was not good. It took me a very long time to decide to write a review or not. Given how many months went by and I'm still bothered by their unprofessional conduct. I felt it necessary to let people know. I'm not telling people not to play here or book a wedding here. I'm here to just express my discontent and experience.

Yelp
Golf course was in perfect shape. The staff were very friendly. Would recommend this place to friends!

Yelp
A dreamy golf course! Wide luscious fairways, beautiful views -what more can you ask for? The staff are super friendly making Desert Island a favorite golfing venue.
google avatar

Freddy V.

Yelp
Great course. Great pace. Friendly service and starter. Would definitely recommend and definitely come back. Greens needed slight upkeep but other than that everything was great. Green everywhere.

Yelp
Thank you for a world class date night. Every detail of this night was perfect. The attention to detail in this newly remodeled club is beyond world class. There are moments of joy and curiosity around every corner. The staff was very attentive and eager to make us welcome and warm. The food beyond beyond delectable. We ordered a bunch of things but the shrimp cocktail stands out at the best I have ever had. Run don't walk to Desert Island. This is a place that is on par with the best LA has to offer right in our back yard.

David M.

Yelp
We played on 1/25 and paid full price (125$) to putt on punched greens filled with sand, with no notice online or even when checking in we didn't know until we started playing. Drove 2 hours thinking we were playing in perfect playing conditions. Deeply disappointed. We recommended this course before to our friends but probably won't anymore.

Shirley N.

Yelp
The four of us played here last December. We returned today using a golf moose voucher offer. Two players for $149.00. Tee time at 11:02am as we are non members of the golf club. Unlike last December, this time we found the fairways very narrow and brown in many places. And lots of leaves in the rough. Are there any hazards? Water at hole 9 and hole 18. You need to activate your lay it up talents as you've got to hit onto the island at these two holes. Compared to last December this time it was disappointing. Plus a slow foursome ahead of us. I'm writing this review so I can recall it down the line.

Tom M.

Yelp
First time playing here and it was awesome! The pro was filled with great membership info and starter explained how to play a few of the holes. Fairways were cut tight and the greens ran flat and true. The range was included and were Pro V's! Went off at 7:00 with no one in front or behind me, played at my pace!

Yelp
Just finished doing the back 9 of Desert Island. Fantastic, well maintained golf course with the friendliest staff. This was my second time coming to this course and I am looking forward to many more return trips! Highly recommend this course!
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
Visited a couple weeks back. Love the theming. The course is fun and I had a great time playing it. Long par 3's and 5's, with short par 4's provided ab interesting challenge. The staff was friendly and professional. I'll definitely be playing again!
google avatar

Beatrice G.

Yelp
My first visit to Palm Springs, and what a great surprise! The staff (from the general manager, to the pro shop, to the cart guys) are very welcoming and professional. It's a lovely course with long- and wide fairways- just gorgeous. In fact, after choosing this course randomly using a golf app, I had such a great experience I signed up for a lesson package with their pro, Lanny. After only 3 lessons, he's really helped get my game back on course. I will definitely be back
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
Overall course is in good condition but greens are so soft and slow, fairways are wide open not that challenging really.

Kim D.

Yelp
So refreshing to have a great food program and a beautiful golf course! They have a new ownership & chef check it out.

Chad F.

Yelp
Course was amazing and tough. Restaurant did not open until 10a which ruined our plans to have breakfast at the course before our round, in fact, they were not open at the turn either!
google avatar

Tanya P.

Yelp
They have now said they will stop the killing and look at using other non lethal methods to stop the problem that the small migratory birds create by foraging for food and defecating in certain areas. There have been other humane methods around for some time Now and I'm glad they will try. I am glad I spoke up to this injustice to wildlife. I am glad they are stopping the last few remain shoots they had scheduled.

Yelp
Great little private golf course right in the middle of high end Rancho Mirage. Beautiful water features, well kept fairways and scenic Mountain Views. Super friendly professional staff. Made me a tasty quick lunch to go. Had a great time here. Will be back. Didn't give it a 5 as the holes are not that challenging for a pro golfer but that's nitpicking really. Very happy here.

Gayle B.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Desert Island today. The course was beautiful, the greens are slow this time of the year, but they look fabulous. The staff in the pro shop does a great job in making you feel welcomed. They opened a fun outdoor eating area, I meant to take pictures of the fun art work they put up on the walls...stunning

Yelp
My buddy flew in from Delaware for a weekend golf outing earlier this month. We were lucky enough to get a voucher to play here and were really excited to play a private course and anticipated an amazing experience and the best conditions we have ever seen!! Well, that wasn't the case at all!! The course wasn't in the best shape and the greens were the worst I have ever seen!! They were burnt, missing grass, chipped and cracked all over the place. Balls didn't roll correctly and made putting interesting. The tee boxes were decent but a bit too soft and the fairways were ok. The views are amazing and made it somewhat worth it!! Can't say I'd play here again
google avatar

Bob E.

Yelp
Nice Golf Course, but security needs to remove the screaming Karens going off about proper wildlife management.
google avatar

Soja S.

Yelp
This was a 4 star golf course, but was recently revamped into a shooting range with livestock. Must have went under new ownership and the golfing wasn't bringing in the profits. They went under minor construction and reopened as a wildlife target practice range. Not sure on the pricing for that. If you're looking to shoot wild birds in a beautiful location in CA, this is the place.

Linda C.

Yelp
1st time there last night amazing food staff and entertainment!!!! Everyone must visit

Denise H.

Yelp
What a beautiful country club! the newly renovated clubhouse is gorgeous! The food is outstanding with a very friendly staff. The Penney is open Wednesday-Saturday for dinner, and 9 1/2 their bar and grill is opened daily. Make it a point to stop by!!!

Craig R.

Yelp
Sunday brunch at the Penny and Parlour excellent. Very good food and service. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
We played here Friday 5/14/21 and really enjoyed it. I'm an avg golfer and found the course to be just a touch on the challenging side. Several holes that if you drive the ball 190 - 230, it's a little bit narrow. Miss either side and there are enough Palm tees that you'll red to punch out. The service was great, ranges was fine and convenient. Had a nice time and would play the course again. We saw none of the shooting issues that earlier reviews commented on.
google avatar

Melanie B.

Yelp
We had the best time at this place!!! The course was in amazing shape, greens were perfect! People were great! They make awesome breakfast burritos and Bloody Mary's. Can't wait to come back! Or at least I hope to!

Yelp
As Ty Webb ("Chevy Chase") so eloquently said: "There's a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball" - Caddyshack, 1980!! Nothing short of a spectacular and picturesque course that was in pristine condition on a beautiful sunny afternoon in the Desert. Privileged to have played golf offering a brilliant private club experience. In my quest to play all Coachella Valley courses this competes with some of the top premier and prestigious courses.

Tony B.

Yelp
It's a country club but its open to the public which is pretty sweet considering they have the amazing chef Jon Butler. You can go to the outside bar, the Penney restaurant or even eat in the game room / lounge space they call the "Parlour". The last two times I was there I grabbed a drink at the outside bar and looked at all the murals which are fantastic! My favorite one is back in the Parlour, all mountains, lava and a sleek back panther in the bar area. My favorite thing is playing board games with friends while sitting on these giant couches or playing pool on their one of a kind, multi-colored pool table. The whole place has a very unique but comfortable feel, like you don't want to leave!

Pam L.

Yelp
Visited the pro shop enquiring about rates and benefits. You could not experience a more snarky, supercilious response and attitude. An experience that you see at times from staff in a high-end establishment. This staff took on the persona that she felt was her due as she places herself in the rarified atmosphere of their cliental. A "wanna be". Sad.a nice looking course right beside my new home Signed Mick Luckhurst

Debbie S.

Yelp
They allow hunters to come shoot at the ducks, geese and other waterfowl they deem a nuisance. Not a peaceful serene environment. Shocked and disheartened by what I witnessed. Shame on this place. Learn to coexist with nature. Buyers beware not a place to live or play. -

Andrew S.

Yelp
I was golfing the other day and out of nowhere I hear what sounded like a gunshot. Old people riding around on golf carts like it's the Wild West LOL shooting animals for no apparent reason other than they haven't gotten and pleasure in their lives for many years. Anyways this is the last time I visit this trashy place you can't even golf in peace.

Linda H.

Yelp
During our round today, we moved at an acceptable pace with the foursome in front and in back. We were playing fast, yet one Marshall in particular, was constantly stopping us, telling us how to play the game, to speed up, to keep up, etc...constantly...he was interrupting our round unnecessarily, distracting us, almost harassing us. Three men are excellent golfers, 2 of which were people of color. I skipped several par 5's to not hold up the group. I belong to our local golf club, play twice a week and considered an intermediate golfer. This type of behavior by the Marshall would not be acceptable at my club, and would be considered harassment. We will not be returning to this course.

Dan C.

Yelp
I have been here a couple times an had some great days playing a round with my brother in law. I decided to take my cousin out since he actually plays more golf than myself. Anyway we had just started playing an out of nowhere there were a couple guys just shooting birds an pretty much anything else living around the water. Seriously the weirdest thing I have ever seen, I usually enjoy watching wildlife swim an enjoy the water. How the hell do you just kill birds for the fun of it. I don't know what this world is coming to but I guarantee I will never return to this course.

Jeff S.

Yelp
The staff here are very professional and friendly! The course conditions earlier in the summer were tough but the course is now in great condition! If you ever wanted to play the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at MHCC, this is the next best thing with rolling fairways and large eucalyptus trees. My daughter played in a US Kids Tournament last weekend and a good time was had by all. They are one of the few that don't try to gouge parents of junior golfers with ridiculous range and cart fees. The layout isn't the longest but it's definitely a lot of fun and I will play again there soon. Highly recommended!

Miguel N.

Yelp
this course was private for fifty years. now it is open to the public, but it still plays like a private course. the new ownership is taking great care of the turf and improved the on and off course menus. my new favorite course in the desert!
google avatar

Abel O.

Yelp
Just not sure what the other review was about.... It's a beautiful course. The high rise buildings are rare in the desert. And, yep...they will never be allowed again here. They have fishing, amazing lakes, and stunning views. The club house is nice. Good food. Even though I hate their limited schedule. The penthouses in the 899 building are wonderful. 6000 sq feet of luxury. Am I thinking of moving there? .....ummmmm ...... Maybe!

Yelp
For golf in the Palm Springs area, we love Desert Island Golf and Country Club! Beautifully manicured greens and interesting golf holes form our daily playground - fun to play for both low and high handicappers. This is a truly warm, friendly and welcoming membership. Our dedicated management, staff, and Board Members work well together to execute sound financial and operational decisions - we've even remodeled our clubhouse and remain debt-free. One of the biggest attractions for us is that we can walk the golf course - no requirement to ride in a golf cart. Our Rancho Mirage golf weather is the best in the Valley - less wind, less rain - that was an unexpected bonus. We're so happy to live and play here - confident in our future.

JR R.

Yelp
Played on May 23, 2019. A cool day in the desert, a real bonus this time of year. Pro shop very friendly. Got an Under Par coupon, and tee'd off around 7:10 am. This is a members course but we had no problem booking a time. The course is in excellent shape tee's fairways and greens. The greens were smooth and rolled very true. The fairways are a bit tight due to a lot of trees, but fair. There are a few lakes with forced carries so playing for the first time was a bit of a challenge. We really enjoyed The S, as it's now called, and will definitely play again.
google avatar

Rich S.

Yelp
Great track in perfect condition, greens were amazing!!!! Cool layout with very challenging water holes, beautiful clubhouse with a friendly staff. Will definitely go back
google avatar

Yelp
The acid test for me -- who golfs the Palm Springs area 3-4 times a week-- is "could I play this course every day and not get tired of it?" For sure, YES. It has no houses around it, which is a rarity in this area. The greens are fast and true, and the entire course is obviously well managed. Every hole is distinctive and offers challenges and rewards for all level players. Compared to other private courses in the Palm Springs golf world, my husband and I think Desert Island Golf and Country Club lives up to its reputation of award-winning golf at an incomparable value.

Julie W.

Yelp
We had a great time playing here! Pristine and scenic course, challenging but not ridiculously so. Greens were in excellent shape. The friendliest people ever.

Chuck S.

Yelp
I had a great time with my buddies and enjoyed the course! The views are incredible and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Please send me information regarding membership.

Laurie R.

Yelp
Desert Island Golf and Country Club is the best kept secret in the Coachella Valley. If you're looking for good golf in the Palm Springs area, this is a great course and club. Conveniently located in the Rancho Mirage golf area, the course is surrounded by mountains and beautiful. It's challenging enough for low handicappers but also fun to play for high handicappers. The friendliest members I've ever found at a golf club. And you can walk the course if you want to -- not like other courses where you have to ride a golf cart.
