The 10 Best Indian Restaurants In Jersey City - Jersey City - The Infatuation

"Tucked in a corner of India Street, you’d never guess this paan and smoke shop has an entire section dedicated to street foods of India. Walk in towards the back and lined up on a table you’ll find a live pani puri station with the most incredible flavors, including pudina, hajma, jal jeera, garlic, and our favorite, green mango. For some more snacking, try their Mumbai misal pav and Bombay sandwich." - nisha vedi pawar

Google
Tried Desi Adda in Jersey City and had a pretty decent experience overall. We ordered the Vada Pav, Chole Nan, Veg Sandwich, Misal Pav, Dahi Puri, and Aloo Cheese Wrap. The Vada Pav was good, though we personally prefer the one at Atul Bakery. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Dahi Puri — probably the best we’ve ever had! Perfect balance of flavors and textures. The rest of the items were just okay — nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. The service is a bit slow because I think they are short staffed but the staff is friendly and helpful. A good spot if you’re in the mood for Indian street food, especially their chaats.

It was our first time here. Large selection of items to choose from. We got sev puri, Bombay sandwich, peri peri frankie and dabang Vada pav. Loved the sandwich and the frankie. Sandwich was huge and loaded with amul cheese, frankie was nice tangy and spicy. Sev puri was average, the aloo had no flavor, could be better. Dabang Vada pav was ok, outer coating of the Vada was think, can improve there. Decor was cute and service was friendly.

Desi Adda in Indian Square is a hidden gem for Mumbai-style street food in Jersey City! The Bombay Vada Pav was spicy and flavorful, the Misal Pav was easily the best we’ve had, and the Peri Peri Frankie and Grilled Masala Sandwich hit all the right notes. The pani puri came with fun flavored waters — loved the khatta meetha! We ended with Kesar Pista and Sitafal shakes, both creamy and refreshing. Fast service and great vibes — a must-visit for desi food lovers!❤️

This cute little "hole in the wall" is truly a hidden gem! While in reality, it's no hole in the wall at all. You actually feel like you're in a small shop in India when dining-in with the colorful decorations, background music and overall setup of the restaurant. Not to mention the food, which was absolutely amazing! Very tasteful chaat and small dishes, each with it's own little twist. I got: -masala chai -mango lassi -Chinese Frankie (get it on a paratha) -Chili Cheese Corn Grilled Sandwich -to top it off, get their Chocolate Pan - it was bomb! EVERYTHING was 10/10. I loved the food so much, I get went again the next day. Ask for Ajay or Shubham - very friendly folks who'll take great care of you while there!

Google
Had an absolutely wonderful time at the panipuri competition with my amazing colleagues! Great vibes, friendly rivalry, and delicious flavors all around. A perfect mix of fun, food, and teamwork! And at the end, the chocolate pan was amazing – a sweet surprise to wrap it up. I would recommend this to anyone visiting – you’ll definitely want to go again and again!

Yelp
Kidaan New Jersey! Golgappe ya Pani Puri? Aate wale ya Sooji wale? Yeh debate to shayad kabhi solve na ho... Lekin ek jagah zaroor hai jaha kuch bhi craving ho -- golgappe ya Chatpati chaat , vada pav ya Dabeli, kathi roll ya bombay frankie-- sab milta hai aur woh bi taste aisa, aap bologe - yeh kya bana dia yaar? To aajao mere naal to Desi Adda in Jersey City jaha milta hai chai ki chuskiyo ka sath wo bi naye aur purane dosto and the best part most dishes are $10 and under! Here are my top recommendations- Gol gappe- wo bi 6 tarah ka paani- mango, garlic, pudina, khata meetha, jaljeera and hajma- jab paani hi 6 flavors ka ho, toh golgappe khate waqt expressions bhi 6 tarah ke aate hain! Kutchi Dabeli - Yeh Dabeli nahi, Gujarat aur Mumbai ka love story hai ek pav mein band! Dabang Vada pav- Layered with flavorsome coriander chutney, sweet & tangy tamarind chutney, and a spicy dry garlic chutney -- it's crisp, bold, and ek dam mast! Peri peri sandwich- Peri peri wali masti, har bite mein spice ka perfect kick aur cheese ka comfort -- ekdum chatpata, aur full paisa vasool! Amul cheese maggi- Desi jugaad meets comfort food - jab Maggi pe Amul cheese girti hai, toh dil literally pighal jaata hai! To intezaar kis baat ka, visit Desi Adda today!

Yelp
I don't know why people would say Dahi Puri Chaat is good here---I saw that in reviews on Google maps and so ordered via DoorDash since I had ordered food from a nearby kebab place. Anyway they didn't even actually make the dahi puri! They just put the puri with some potatoes dry in a container and then on the side gave tiny chutney containers for the yogurt, tamarind sauce & green chutney. Ok if you're putting it separately to avoid sogginess then at least give enough for the dish. It was laughable how stingy they were. Dahi puri is supposed to have LOTS of yogurt and instead this minuscule container of completely watery "yogurt" was not even enough to fill 2 of the puri. $10 plus tax & tip for this?? Also since they didn't make anything why did they keep the driver waiting for SO long? What a complete waste of money & time.

Yelp
Came here for pani puri. They have various flavors of the pani from jal jeera to mango. You can get either potatoes or ragadi which is a $1 up charge. This time I decided on the regular potatoes. Puri was crisp. Pani was cold and flavorful. They end it with a dry puri. I enjoyed it very much. I got a chai to go too. Didn't realize it came out of a machine but it wasn't too bad at all! Great & friendly service too. Will definitely be back to this place.

Yelp
BEWEAR: this place charges double depending on where you order from. 3.50 for a can of soda and 8.50 for a single slider is ridiculous. Food was mid. Would not recommend.

Yelp
A really fun Indian street food place in jersey city!!! We got the live pani puri, misal pav, and ragada samosa. All of the food was really good!!! We also got the chikoo shake, sitaful shake, and mango lassi. The mango lassi was a bit too thick but the taste was good. The chikoo and sitaful shake exceeded my expectations because it tasted really close to Indian fruit!! The owner said they get their fruit from Indian so it tracks, but it was still shocking!! Overall loved this place and it had a fun vibe as well!

Yelp
Tried this new Indian street food spot in Jersey City. I like that's it open late. We came here after a concert. I called to confirm that they would be open and they were kind enough to take my order on the phone so it was ready when we arrived. We enjoyed the live pani puri counter with 6 different pani flavors. Loved the chole with stuffed kulche. The wada pav was pretty good too. Ended the night on a sweet note with paan. I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
Not as expected. Pani Puri's poorie could have been much better. Vada Pav was better.

Yelp
The live pani Puri station was great ! We also tried their vada pav and Dahi puri and they were delicious. The service was great. We'll be back for sure

Yelp
Had the live pani puri stand and was amazed at the flavors in each of the panis, you can taste the difference in each pot and the green mango is a must try! Also had the sweet pan and it was very flavorful. Will be back to try the paneer and chole as they were recommended by the owner!
