Desi Tadka Indian Grill Review - Bellevue - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Some of the best meals can only be described by using a series of colorful expletives, and Desi Tadka is no exception. This vegetarian Indian spot that serves Punjabi food has a lineup of dishes with such tremendous flavor that the occasional cursing is warranted. Use the onion kulcha—with red onion, green chilies, and whole spices baked into every square of dough—to scoop up heaps of sweet paneer tikka and bhindi masala, and let the profanity commence. Keep this place in mind for a takeout dinner or casual weekday lunch." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Desi Tadka Indian Cusine is a great place to experience authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the service is friendly and attentive. Here are some of the highlights of the restaurant: * The tandoori chicken is tender and flavorful. * The butter chicken is creamy and delicious. * The mango lassi is refreshing and sweet. * The restaurant is clean and comfortable. * The prices are reasonable. Overall, Desi Tadka Indian Cusine is a great place to enjoy a delicious Indian meal. I highly recommend it!

Google
Soooo good! We got Butter Chicken, Chicken Vindalu and Pershwari naan. Nobody does Indian food like this place. It is so delicious! This is our favorite!

Google
Dinner was absolutely delicious! Started with the Samosas, then ordered the Aloo Gobi, Chicken Afghani and ordered the bread basket. Originally wanted the plain, buttered and garlic naan, however the owner suggested the Peshwari Naan, and am so glad he did! The Peshwari Naan had cherries, coconut and cashews inside and was incredible! I can't wait to go back and order it again.

Google
All in all good but not my favorite. Vegetarian Thali is a meal that could be shared but I was not happy about the chana masala. I ordered the Kadai Paneer as spicy/ hot and it came in medium. I ordered veg. Pakora that the waiter forgot completely and I ordered a side of onion, chili, lemon and I had to remind him of my order. As a saving grace, he was fast with the water refill and when he asked about the spice level and I responded that I would call it medium, he brought somei hot sauce.

Google
It was a great find to take your friends for a value meal. My friends were new to the cuisine. The server went an extra mile to describe the dishes. We took their Thali. Surprisingly as all the entree were awesome including Naan. Mango pudding was good for someone new to the cuisine. I would love to have rice pudding/halva/gulab jamun

Google
Great place for lunch I can only imagine dinner is even better. The service is top notch, lots of great options served at your chosen level of spice! Well worth a trip to check it out

Google
The food is delicious. A bit pricey, but most restaurants are now a days. Food portions are good. Everyone is very professional, they make you feel right at home. New favorite Indian restaurant.

Google
I have tried dozens and dozens of Indian restaurants throughout my life in LA, New York, San Diego and other cities. This place is my hands down favorite of any Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The taste of the food is A+. Especially my favorite go-to dishes, saag paneer and chicken tikka masala. I used to live 2 hours north and would take away from here when I was in town. Now I live nearby and eat here and order delivery from here often. I’ve ordered a few others around when they were closed, and nothing else compares. Not even close in my opinion. This is an honest review, and I’m not affiliated with them in any way. I just love my Indian food.

Yelp
The food here was delicious - I ordered the vegetarian lunch platter, and I enjoyed the variety of dishes offered and thought that it was a good amount of food for me. Allistel was very attentive and kind, and my food arrived very quickly. I'd definitely try this spot again!

Yelp
This place is an absolute treasure! I adore everything I've ordered here. Specifically, their Indian Hot option for heat level doesn't disappoint.

Yelp
Service was fast! My girlfriend had the Curry Lamb that was delicious and I had the Butter Chicken and that was seasoned perfectly and both very filling. This place is a hidden gem and is a must try very clean and the smells of spices will have you wanting to order one of each item! We will definitely be back again

Yelp
The food is always amazing & staff is kind & quick! 10/10 recommend. Will continue to come back!!

Yelp
Probably the best Indian food near me and that I could go to living in Tampa. Food is finally not so sweet and actually spicy with good flavors. Love it!

G S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service! We have been to several Indian restaurants in Tampa and this is one of the best around. We had the Butter Chicken and its was delicious. We highly recommend Desi Tadka!

Yelp
This is our go to Indian restaurant for dine in and take out. They are consistent, the most flavorful in the area, and very kind staff.

Laura H.

Yelp
This small restaurant serves very good authentic food, large portions, and is clean. The weight staff was very friendly, and they even offered me a complementary taste of something the chef had been working on. At $16 the lunch was a little pricey, but I could make almost two meals from the large portion. I feel good about supporting this small, locally owned restaurant. When I'm in the area again, I will go back. I also appreciated that they serve beer and wine there. That's a nice touch.

Michael B.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Take out is quick. Did not eat in the restaurant yet - only have done takeout.

Yelp
This is the best Indian restaurant in the Oldsmar area with a few caveats. First of all the food is a highlight - everything I've had was delectable. There is flavor in every bite and the food isn't greasy as some other Indian places around here. I've liked everything I have tried. Some recommendations include the gongura lamb, saag paneer, and lamb korma. Service is generally okay but can be somewhat lacking when the restaurant is busy. Slightly annoying when two entrees, one lassi, and garlic naan costs approximately $50 before tip. Finally, the pick up service is abysmal. If you place an order it is rarely, if ever, ready on time. In fact, you're better off estimating your order won't be ready on time when placing your order to avoid aggravating yourself. Tonight it took me almost an hour to get my order. The kicker was once I got home I realized my order was missing a side. Had to drive all the way back to get it so overall it took probably one and a half hours to get my order. Overall, if you're in the area Desi Tadka is worth a visit. Just avoid busy dining hours and try not to place a pick up order unless you have to.

Yelp
Food here is alway great! If you're looking for good indian food without having to pay too much I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Solid food. Service seems to have gotten better (used to be painfully slow). My new favorite dish is chicken Saag. This is chicken in spinach sauce. Great way to add more vegetables to your diet and spinach is super healthy! Butter chicken and chicken Tikka masala are other family favorites. We will often order for takeout and get extra dishes to have for later in the week or lunches.

Yelp
One star down for having a pretty disorganized menu that could use a brush-up. They also use compound names? And one item might actually be three? I had trouble. Maybe simplifying and adding individual allergen symbols is the way to go. One star up for the girl who guided my way through to a fantastic Chicken Curry. Dairy free and delicious. Something tells me asking for suggestions is a good idea as the more popular items may result in higher quality. One star up for using what must have been chicken thigh as it tasted rich and soft like dark meat. One star dup? for the strobing television. It was such a pleasure to watch regional music videos but on occasion they would be bright and jarring.

Yelp
Plain saffron rice would have gone better with the entree.. too much going on for my taste.

Yelp
Been to several locations to satisfy our cravings for Indian crusines. This was our second visit at Desi Tadka. Truly a hidden gem with incredibly prepared dishes. Flavors are each bold and perfectly balanced. Excellent service. Cozy and quiet atmosphere. Worth adding to your list of "must experience".
google avatar

Meci A.

Yelp
Food is good but portion have become small for the price. Now they use small bowls for to go food that I think almost half the size of before. Bread quality has decreased too.

Yelp
Had lunch here today and was so happy with the selection of dishes in the vegetarian thali. I loved having a paneer, bean, and lentil dish as well as naan and a fritter! Delicious and a good value! Friendly service also.
google avatar

Krystle M.

Yelp
This restaurant has reliable and on-point Indian fare. But for the price? Not sure it's affordable for regular takeout for me anymore. Butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were both nearly $19 each! Add butter naan, the Gobi Manchurian appetizer and what should have been only one extra order of rice for the kiddo, and we got a $61+ bill! For takeout? I'll be getting Thai next time.

Yelp
Delicious food and lovely accommodating service food was flavorful and spiced just right

Yelp
The hubz and I decided to order Indian Food for carry out as we were driving home from the beach. The last time we ate Indian food was probably when we lived in NY over 6 years ago. I ordered way too much food for only 2 people because I wanted to taste a little bit of everything and so I could fairly compare it to my favorite Indian Restaurants in New York. I ordered "medium spicy" on all of the following appetizers/dishes which cost us roughly $80. - Vegetable Samosa (appetizer) - Saag Paneer - Channa Masala - Chicken Madras - Chicken Tikka Masala Note that all of the entrees are packed in the plastic 16 oz containers (pint size plastic take-out food containers) and each entree comes with the 16oz of basmati rice. Also, 1 order of the Samosa appetizer comes with 2 pieces. I would like to start off by saying that we enjoyed the Vegetable Samosa appz, which were very flavorful. It came with 2 dipping sauces, but tasted great with or without either of the sauces. As far as the entrees were concerned, most of the dishes were very hot spicy. I should have probably ordered a combination of mild and medium spicy to get an idea of what the restaurant considers spicy. But we usually order Medium Spicy Indian and Thai food, which is usually hotter than American Spicy. In any case, Desi Tadka's dishes were overwhelmingly spicy and it was difficult to really taste the flavors through the heat. After a while my taste buds were no longer muted by heat and found that the Saag Paneer lacked flavor. This used to be one of my favorite Indian dishes and found it so flavorful, but in this case it fell short. The Chicken Tikka Masala also tasted a little bland. It's saving grace was that it was drowning in sauce. With that said, I would have liked to have had more chicken in the Chicken Madras and Chicken Tikka Masala containers, as at least half of the containers were sauce. We did enjoy the Channa Masala, which was loaded with chickpeas and full of flavor once the spiciness died down. For now I am giving Desi Tadka 3 stars. We plan on ordering carry-out another time and will make sure to order mild so we can taste the flavors without the overpowering heat. Hopefully, there'll be a good chicken to sauce ratio on our next order. Will post an updated review after our next carry-out order.

Yelp
Food was delicious. It was evident by the volume of take out pick ups they had. Customer Service was good. It is clean. We will definitely come again.

Yelp
I've been going to this restaurant for more than 10 years. Quality and taste of food has been constantly amazing. The service is always great. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Must be a bad weekend for me and certain restaurants. I got the lunch special, thought I was back in Boot Camp. . Goat Curry, Tandoori Chicken, Vegetable Curry, Naan, some kind of dessert, and a salad. Looked delicious but tasteless and blah. Not even spicy. The best thing was the Naan. That sums it up. Cheers .

Jason N.

Yelp
Best Indian food in Pinellas. Great service and always consistent. The Chicken Kurchan is a must try

Yelp
First time going out for Indian food.. and I will now be a regular. So happy to find this place. Food was delicious and server/owner was very helpful.

Yelp
I have eaten at many authentic Indian restaurants around the world... never in India... darn it! But many in the United Kingdom and Ireland. I have been disappointed many times with my experience with Indian cuisine here in the United States. Just wasn't fortunate enough to experience some of the best. Very good in Phoenix, AZ - but - I would be sore amiss if I didn't celebrate this restaurant: Desi Tadka Indian Cuisine. This is the VERY BEST Indian food, service and ambience I have yet to experience in the USA. Highly recommended. Loved it and will be going again as well as taking advantage of the take outs they offer. Brilliant. You will be glad you made this choice. My wife, Jackie, even loved it.

Yelp
Finally now getting to eat out as a few places are open. Have not had many experiences in Indian food but my daughter wanted to try it and reviews were good. We came after church with my wife, daughter, grand-daughter and I. We arrived a little after their opening at noon. We were the first customers to arrive and were greeted and seated immediately. We ordered Samosas for an appetizer as we perused the menu. They were hot and crisp and delicious! Yum! For entrees we ordered the Chicken Korma, one spicy & one medium; the Lamb Curry medium spicy and the Chicken Saagwalla medium spicy. And Basmati Rice with each, plus Garlic Naan & Butter Naan. Now I am a salt fiend, and no - my blood pressure is great, I salt everything! Although the salt was on the table, I never reached for it. All the items were wonderfully seasoned and all were delicious. There was nothing that any of us did not like. All the dishes were great. The only thing I would change is to up the heat a bit. I usually go easy on spices in a new place until I get a feel for their heat levels. Next time, and there will definitely be next timeS, I will go for max heat.

Yelp
The chettinad curry chicken was so good I got euphoric rushes. Will return often. And service was great. Went for lunch.
google avatar

Brad K.

Yelp
The food was really good with the perfect level of spice - very tasty! My wife had tandoori shrimp and I had chicken chettinaad. Also, the staff was very friendly and attentive, making sure everything was as we wanted.

Yelp
Since moving to Tampa, I had struggled to find Indian food as dynamite as what Nashua, NH offered me. May sound weird but the Indian restaurants in that region are actually fire! I was spoiled. Desi Tadka is spot on what I missed. The generous lunch buffet featured popular Indian dishes packed with authentic flavoring. Favorites like Butter Chicken and Saag Paneer were among at least ten other choices. Chafers were replenished timely, so everything was hot and fresh. Chicken was tender. Best of all, it was spicy without burning, so, white kids like me can handle it. As a reluctant member of the gluten-free club, I had to pass on the Naan, Samosas and one of the curry dishes. Still had plenty to stuff myself silly with. For the reasonable price of $12.99, I enjoyed two full plates of my favorite Indian cuisine. I couldn't even pick a favorite. Tucked away in an unsuspecting plaza in Oldsmar, this little cafe made quite the impact. Hands down the best Indian buffet experience I've had in six years.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Wow! We are frequent Indian food eaters....this was our first time at Desi! Hubby got the mixed grill and I got the lunch box! Great food, service and quality!! Will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Quite the little hole in the wall Indian restaurant. I've been here a couple times now for lunch and it is authentic Indian food. They have a great lunch special if you're looking to try a little of everything. My favorite thing here is the garlic naan. All of their dishes are very ornate and original. I would highly recommend this place for some Indian cuisine. Service is pretty spot on and they have a full parking lot out front.
google avatar

Jaxson T.

Yelp
Had the lunch special food was great, service was good, but felt the prices were definitely high.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Typically get this from Uber eats. Consistently delicious. We've tried everywhere in the area and this is the best Indian by far.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Great food. We will be back. Chicken Afgani was excellent. My husbands first time eating Indian and he enjoyed it.

Sharmeen R.

Yelp
The BEST desi food in Pinellas county! I could name every dish but it'll take a long review as each and every one is SIMPLY DELICIOUS! Shrimp chili & chicken 65 & chicken Manchurian & list goes on are mouth watering. Their service is excellent & the owner & staff are amazing! Wish I could eat there every week LOL!! Oh & the chicken chettanaddi is to die for!
google avatar

Malinda L.

Yelp
Ordered through uber eats and loved it. Chicken was very tender in the chicken saggwala and spice level was on point. Tandoori chicken was excellent and not dry or overcooked. We will be ordering again.
google avatar

Yelp
Flavor Bomb and happy dances in my mouth. One of the best I've tasted really, great job Desi Tadka!! Absolutely must try. Got Take Out, ambiance was small, comfortable, mom and pops with a bit of decor, but it's the food!! Delicious!!
google avatar

Yelp
Really great food, never had a bad dish. I typically order it to go so I'm not as familiar with the service

Vikas P.

Yelp
One of the best Indian foods you can find in Tampa. They are authentic Indian Restaurant with the Delicious food. kudos to their staff and the owner. Happy Stomach & You have Happy Life.

Yelp
I thought I would give Desi Tadka another chance.... What another expensive disappointment! Some years back I used to go here all the time and the food was always great but I hadn't been back since late 2019, which was the last time I had ordered take out. It was at that time, I noticed how the portion sizes had gotten a lot smaller and the prices had gotten higher. Very expensive, especially for the amount of food you get. But...this past weekend I thought well, I'll try them again, only because there aren't any really good Indian restaurants in our area anymore. I explained to the manager about my prior experience and he explained the portions were served in 16oz containers and are the same as if you were to eat in the restaurant. Reluctantly, I went ahead and placed an order rather than following my instinct to leave. I usually get a few different entrees to share between the 4 of us. My my ordered consisted of: 1 Samosa, 1 veggie app and then our entrees were two orders of Chicken Tikka Masala, Curry Shrimp and Channa Masala and then 3 orders of Naan (which were $3.99 each...seriously?). After about 30 minutes, I was presented with two half full plastic carry-out bags and a bill for $98 ($20 more than in 2019). The bill, plus a beer and then a small tip, I walked out spending $108. The food portions were still small and ended up not being enough to feed everyone and just lacked that depth of flavor one expects when ordering Indian food, even the basmati rice was absent of its signature floral aroma and nutty flavor. I really just need to find a new Indian Restaurant.
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
A friend recommended I try this place as I just moved out here from the west coast and heard the Indian food is much better out here! This place did not disappoint! They have an extensive menu, with different meat options available and plenty of different spice levels to choose from. The korma was nice and creamy and had a decent amount of chicken in it. They were happy to top up our rice as needed and the naan bread was really good too. I slightly preferred the butter naan to the garlic one but we finished off both. The young man serving us was really nice. Very attentive and offered his preferences when we asked. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
I came here with a buddy of mine and we ordered the Chana masala and Chicken vindaloo. We also had a side of garlic naan. Both dishes were quite tasty - the right balance of spice (heat) and spice (flavoring). And the naan was thinner than what I normally get, but it was really tasty. Overall our dinner was delish. As we finished, the owner came by to see how we like it and he suggested that we get the Indian coffee (Madras or as he called it - Indian Nescafe). To our surprise, we really enjoyed at how smooth and flavorful it was. Since my buddy lives near by, I think he and his family will be coming here frequently (and I will too when I visit again).
google avatar

Mayra U.

Yelp
When placing my order, I ask the rep to replace the white rice with a naan and or charge an up change. He said no, we don't do that. I was going to spend an additional $10 to by a shrimp veriany to replace the white rice. But I was totally disappointed for the lack of customer service provided. The two stars are for the food however, the customer service should receive a "ZERO"

James F.

Yelp
Always an amazing meal at this establishment. Service was good like usual and all the employees are friendly, like usual. We always leave with leftovers so no complaints!
google avatar

Esther T.

Yelp
Truly disappointed. I ordered pick up on 9/11. The portions are way smaller and the price 16.95. I get it restaurants were hit hard with COVID but cmon. The size of my lamb curry was the size of wonton soup. Really?!
google avatar

Teri W.

Yelp
Never disappoints. I did forget to for a higher spice level but have to say the flavors of my chicken curry were perfect! Carry out, delivery or dine in its best choice of Indian in Pinellas county.
google avatar

Caribbean I.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Great customer service. Food is great and portion size. Must get the garlic naan, you're welcome in advance.

Yelp
Did a takeout on Tuesday for the first time from this restaurant and the quality and taste of food was excellent. We ate it two days in a row.Now we going back today for Mother's Day dinner with my wife and son. Will update again tomorrow. Went for Mother's Day dinner with wife and Son.The hostesses told us that the kitchen is jammed with lots of takeout orders and it will be 45 minutes to get our food.We said no worries and sat down for dinner. Place is pretty clean and organized. We ordered Paneer Tikka,Paneer Makhni,Chana Masala, Goat curry and assorted breads. The food was over the top and worth the wait. The Chef is from Africa and is a experienced veteran of this Industry. I would give the food 10 stars if I could As a family we decided that this is our only go to place for Indian Food. ,
