The Best Steakhouses in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Desi Vega’s namesake steakhouse opened in CBD hotel The Lafayette Hotel a decade ago, and it continues to serve some of the best steaks in the city. Like Mr. John’s, where Vega is also a partner, the lineup is classic, the service is solid, and there’s an unexpected pina colada ice cream to finish off your meal. Note: It takes the dress code seriously, so make of that what you will." - Eater Staff

Dined at Desi Vega’s on St Charles with friends, and every single detail, from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere, was absolute perfection. Started with crab cakes, Who Dat shrimp, and the signature Desi Vega meatballs—all incredible. Moved on and split a mozzarella and tomato salad, (definitely recommend). For the main course, had the large filet, which was cooked to perfection. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Side dishes were sautéed mushrooms and sweet potato soufflé which complemented the steak perfectly. Split peanut butter pie and red velvet brownie à la mode for dessert. I have to give a shout out to our servers, Adrian and DJ and bartender, Cadet. They were personable and fun. Polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, they kept the wine and cocktails flowing and made sure that everything was exactly as we wanted. If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience in New Orleans with outstanding food, impeccable service, and a fantastic atmosphere, Desi Vega’s on St. Charles Avenue is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s not bad but it’s not the best. The best thing about this restaurant is the staff. They really try their best. The food is just ok given the prices. I will say my ribeye was cooked a perfect medium rare. The creamed spinach was bland. The crab cakes were disappointing at best. They were mushy and had bits of crab shells. They aren’t served with any sauce. The lamb chops were well seasoned. The mashed potatoes the lamb chops were served with were meh. I had the Down the Rabbit Hole cocktail. The focus must be on the fog it’s served with because the taste was just ok. Disappointing experience overall. Not the worst steakhouse but certainly not the best-ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE

Google
So very happy I found this place on a Friday night. I wanted a steak before I headed home after a long week, and Desi’s delivered! K and Andrew were the perfect bartenders as a full service bar. Started with a tasty old fashioned from Andrew, and followed with a wine paired with my meal by K. Complimentary meatballs and bread were delicious, so I knew I was in the right place. And the steak.. I ordered the petite filet, but it wasn’t petite, and it was sooooo good! Loved the char and butter on the sizzling hot plate. The garlic mash potatoes added the needed touch. Andrew’s chocolate martini fished the meal perfectly. Thanks for a great Friday night meal! —-Doug

6⭐️for Desi Vega’s Steakhouse. From the moment we walked in the door we were welcomed, appreciated and loved. Complete strangers to everyone who came to greet us and shower us with affection. Short story. Had reserved a table at Mr.John’s. Mr. John’s was closed but Open Table took our reservation anyway. We called Mr.John’s to make a change and they advised us they were closed. Unbeknownst to us, they took it upon themselves to reserve a table for us at Desi Vega’s. We decided to accept the invite and went for it. New place, new town, new experience. We were absolutely thrilled with the hospitality and attentive service. We ordered NY Strip which was expertly seasoned and prepared. Along with the sweet potato soufflé. Our guests ordered the French onion soup, Who Dat Shrimp, Redfish and rhe Steak Bruschetta. Cleaned plates were the result of the greatness served. The love continued as we were served red velvet cake ala mode and a chocolate bread pudding. Nothing but the highest praise for Adrian, Mona Lisa who were our servers. Knowledgeable, attentive, responsive, courteous and smiles galore was our experience. Kudos to Chris the manager for a great evening, great experience and a wonderful showcase of a great place to eat and fellowship. Prayers of blessings upon the staff.

Had the pleasure of dining with my family here for New Years Eve and it was very pleasant. From the menu choices, holiday cocktails to the servers. The petite filet was cooked to perfection, the surf & turf was mouth watering and the lamb chops were juicy & tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the night.

Google
We came here for an early dinner and generally everything was okay. It’s a very comfortable environment. Nothing formal and the steak was cooked perfectly. We love the dessert. Service was on par for the course. The building a history is great. I would definitely come again. It’s a good change of pace from a chain steakhouse restaurant.

Stopped by for dinner last time I was in New Orleans and the food, service, and atmosphere were all beyond amazing. The appetizers are delicious. I recommend the calamari. I had a filet mignon for my entree and it was cooked perfectly. The cocktails were great as well!

Google
This was the best experience from start to finish! We received exceptional service from Dennis; he was on top of everything and made great recommendations. The manager, Tank, was kind enough to bring me some extra meatballs when I wanted to purchase some to-go because they were so good. We literally didn't have one thing we didn't enjoy. The food was piping hot and full of flavor. Here are my ratings of everything we had: • Braised Pork Belly - 10/10 😍🤤 • Seafood Au Gratin - 10/10 🔥 • Who Dat Shrimp - 9/10 • Mixed Grill - 8/10 • Gulf Fish of The Day (Redfish) - 9/10 • Marinated Roasted Chicken Breast (Oscar Style) - 9/10 • Mac & Cheese - 10/10 🤤 • Brussels Sprouts 10/10 😍😍 • Sweet Mashed Potato Souffle 8/10 • Birthday Brownie 10/10 Pretty high ratings across the board, everything was simply delicious. Next time I'm in the city, I will def be back. ☺️

Yelp
To start off, the Caesar Salad here was one of the best I have had in a long time. There was a perfection in the amount of dressing to lettuce. The steaks were beautifully cooked. As for sides we did the Brussel Sprouts and the potatoes Au gratin. The Brussel Sprouts were amazing. The potatoes Au gratin just wasn't for us. Service was amazing.

Yelp
We were recently in town and chose Desi Vega's Steakhouse for our anniversary dinner. Pros It's a lovely place and we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The food was delicious. We began with the calamari which was fresh and tender. My daughter had the Caesar salad and finished it which says a lot! My son had chicken strips and fries which he enjoyed. I had the petite filet with sautéed mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly and although it was the petite, I still couldn't finish it all. My husband had the ribeye and mashed potatoes and said that it was delicious as well. The presentation of things was done very well. They placed the napkins in our laps, presented the menus to us open and the food was served by multiple servers so that it all arrived at the same time. Cons - I am going to be a little harsher here than I usually am because this is a more high-end and expensive place. When we began looking at the menus, the server told my son that although they don't have a kids menu they could make anything he wanted. Chicken strips, spaghetti, french fries - whatever you want! Now, we had not asked for a kid's menu so he had planned to just find something. However, he perused the menu and decided on a cheeseburger. When he placed his order, the server told us that he couldn't have that because he was looking at the lunch menu. He made some suggestions and my son was happy with chicken strips. However, it would have been better if he just didn't even mention that "chef can make whatever you want." I also wish that there were a different type of music playing. I'm not sure what to call it but a mix of pop and techno just seemed out of place. I would have preferred something a little less techno for this environment. Overall, it was a very nice experience with delicious food and friendly staff.

Yelp
Big fan of this place. Really great cuts of steak, awesome service, and this place always seems lively. Recommend making reservations. We started off with the who dat shrimp. Not sure who decided to wrap shrimp and crab with bacon, but they're a genius. Definitely how you want to start your dinner. We then ordered the ribeye and the cowboy which is a bone in rib eye. Both had great flavors but don't think you necessarily have to spend the extra $20 for the bone. They also nailed the cocktails and wine! A little on the pricey side but can you really put a price tag on memorable life experiences. Such a fun time and it's worth the visit

Yelp
My husband and I dined at Desi Vegas Steakhouse to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, and mouthwatering options , like the fish of the day, steak bruschetta, and ribeye steak. The Redfish was delicious with a mild, slightly sweet flavor topped with lump crab meat. The steak bruschetta had grilled steak slices served on toasted bread, topped with tomatoes, garlic, basil, and a balsamic glaze. It was delicious and a larger portion than we expected. Not to be outdone, my husband's bone-in ribeye steak, also known as a Cowboy steak, was a rich and flavorful cut, very tender and juicy. Throughout the evening, we indulged in a variety of cocktails and mock-tails. To top off our celebration we received a complementary sweet and rich brownie. Adrian and Dennis, our servers, provided us with superb service, ensuring our anniversary dinner was truly memorable.

Yelp
If I could give a 10 I would This place is top tier. Vibes , service , food all 10/10 I had the steak prepared medium plus with jumbo limb crab and it was perfection. The shrimp 10/10 I forgot that the other appetizer we had but it was so tender I also had a dessert. It was a warm brownie with ice cream (May have been red velvet) that day and it was everything I will always pick this spot

Yelp
Desi Vega's was one of the best date nights we've had in a while! Service was 10/10. They did small things like present all the plates at the same time or unfold our napkins to put in our laps for us. Every single person told my wife happy birthday (since we put that in our reservation notes). Ambiance was very dark / moody. Perfect for a date night. And the food was amazing. Who Dat Shrimp - a "Must Get". It was a bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with crab meat. The sauce that came with it was great. Hearts of Lettuce - a classic wedge salad. We told them we were going to split this, so they pre-split it on 2 plates. Porterhouse for Two - if you have a couple that both wants steak and likes it cooked the same way, then do this. It's plenty of meat for 2 people (we even had leftovers), plus it was delicious! Onion rings - thin cut onion rings were delicious. We were pretty full at this point (so didn't eat many of them), but took them home as leftovers. Drinks - we each got a cocktail. Their cocktail menu was pretty much classic cocktails with a slight twist. They also gave us a free dessert for my wife's birthday! Overall, this was delicious. Probably the best steak dinner we've had in New Orleans.

Yelp
Overall had a really good experience. The staff was very friendly and pleasant, from the parking attendant to the wait staff. Everyone was very nice. The ambiance was really nice and relaxing. It was definitely a place you can have a good meal and good conversation. The food and drinks were really good.

Yelp
Desi Vega's is one of my faves. I actually like it more than Ruth's Chris, maybe because RC is a chain and most times, chain restaurants are blah! I usually stop at Desi Vega's for drinks before going across the street to the Square. It's always been one of my favorite steakhouses to stop at. I love the windows and how bright this restaurant is. Food is always perfect + service is always great. So personable. I love their strawberry martini and crème brûlée. Last visit I ordered the fish of the day + soup of the day. *Chefs kiss*. Baby Blossom, Kermit, and I enjoyed our meal!

Yelp
With all the amazing food in New Orleans this is still truly one of the best. Service is great and food is amazing! 100 times recommend the bone marrow butter on all steaks!

Yelp
Been a few times, never had the whole experience correctly until tonight. Apparently needed Kevin to be at our table. Tonight Kevin lead the crew with harmonious help. We came with a large 10 top for a birthday. Had much food and drinks without any pressure and a completely excellent vibe. The kitchen killed it and that comes without being versed in Nola fine dining. When you come know you need your own server. Ask for Kevin for the correct experience

Yelp
Where to begin. Food. I would say the best filet in town! Sides were amazing and plenty to share. I am a French onion soup snob,(had it seven times in Paris), and it was divine! From the beginning, our party of five fell in love with Terrance and Thomas! And the gentleman with him, it was Double T double D! From napkin in the lap to folded if you left the table(it's the little things that are few and far between). They watched to see if refills were needed and were beyond attentive! The entree presentation was awesome! I cannot say enough good things! Fixing to enjoy a chocolate martini before leaving! It's a must if you are visiting Nola!

Yelp
This steakhouse is beautiful and I feel it would be great for a date night. The lighting is moreso on the soft side and music is played at a lower level. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. This restaurant can be found in the Layfette hotel. Our food took a while to come out but our waiter kept us updated and apologized for the wait time. I wasn't a fan of my drink which was a seasonal sangria they had. The Caesar salad was okay but the real star here is the marinated chicken breast. Truly well seasoned and perfectly cooked. So tender and juicy! I paired it with the Freddie Mac and cheese which was very underwhelming. I didn't taste any crawfish and had small bits of andouille in there. My friend enjoy the mixed grill and said even the tomato was delicious!

Yelp
A great steakhouse in New Orleans, conveniently located in the hotel we stayed. Good steak, sides and wine list. It was packed even on a weeknight.

Chelsea Y.

Yelp
Went here in hopes for a delicious meal. It did not disappoint. Everything was fantastic! From the cocktails, to the service and the meal. I ordered the ribeye, scalloped potatoes and brussel sprouts. Definitely will be back and recommend to anyone visiting!

Yelp
The Ambiance was amazing but the seating is a little crowded and tableare small. My steak was salty and over cooked while the mac and cheese was bland. For the price and outcome of the food I would probably not go back.
google avatar

Teira R.

Yelp
Desi Vega's happy hour is very classy and sophisticated for a reasonable price. All the boujee you want for half the cost. Get here early because it fills up fast. Drinks and food are superb and so is service. My only concern is the tiny space. There is a column in the middle of the bar area and a table right next to it, making it difficult to sit near it at the bar and at the tiny table. Get here early so you're not stuck at this spot.

Yelp
To start off this is probably the best steak in New Orleans I've had. Serivce & Ambiance: The service is always on point the waiters are friendly and always make sure you get what you need! The Ambiance is perfect for date night very dim and mellow with soft Jazz music playing. Appetizer: Who Dat shrimp One of my favorite apps at any Resturant, what can I say Seafood & bacon would have any one sold! But the mixture of salty, sweet, and a little kick from the chipotle is a perfect combo! Steak & sides: I like my steak temperature at medium and it was cooked perfect desi Vegas flavor is always on point! The steak cut like butter & the seasonings had my taste buds jumping. The Freddie Mac is awesome slight spice from the Andouille and very cheesy and my wife love Mac & crawfish so it was always a blue for us! The potato's we're salted well but nothing mind blowing. Broccoli & creamed spinach didn't have to much flavor but that's ok with me because I rather my veggies be over powered with salt.

Yelp
July 24,2023 (Mon 12noon): We needed to eat at this restaurant before returning to CA today. My husband and I got the Caesar Salad ($17 - I prefer the Boston Bibb Salad) and Cowboy ($70 - I like the Rib eye Steak better) with a side of Cream Spinach ($11). The service is always great, thanks to Mona Lisa and Alysia.

Yelp
We visited Desi Vega's for the first time on 05/11/2023 with a party of four with a reservation at 7:30pm. This is in a great location close to downtown, and in a large space attached to a hotel. It is a loud venue; however, it had awesome food. Overall, a great experience. It is a place that has good dining, higher price point (as most steakhouses do); however, the feeling that you can dress up or go casual -- and both are completely fine. Our table shared the crab cake and the bacon wrapped shrimp and both were spectacular. I had the Ribeye, which was a very large piece of meat, booked medium well with the blue cheese crust and it came out great as well. The drinks were good. The only downside, is our server seemed less than enthusiastic to be at her job that night. I'm not sure if it was just an off night for her, or she is always like that; however, it is what it is. Still, an overall 4 out of 5 experience.

Yelp
Sheer perfection! 55 year old carnivore. I have eaten steak all over the world. This was in my top 5 ever ! The plating was top notch ( presentation). The steak was cooked to perfection. We tried the fried green tomatoes and again wow. I am from the south and these were some of the best fried green tomatoes I have ever eaten. Don't forget the bone broth for your steak. I will visit this place every time I go to New Orleans. The ambiance was spot on. The wait staff pleasant and extremely attentive. The pricing is great. I have paid a lot more at other places and walked hot disappointed but here I left with a big smile and anxious to do it all again. If you come to New Orleans and you love steak Eat here !

Yelp
Seafood augratin was ok. Who dat shrimp were excellent. Will be back for those. Ordered Oreo cheesecake it it came as bites. Was disappointed.

Yelp
Well this review should have been 5 stars few minor hiccups on food. Ambiance was nice was more lacks than I expected ppl with shorts and sandals on etc. Steak literally melted like butter when it was sliced that bone marrow on top perfect touch. Wife opted for the crawfish Mac but not 1 crawfish tail was in the Mac. Sweet Potato Souffle lacked flavor. Drinks were strong and tasty. Dennis our waiter was good but his helper HOPE was amazing she deserves 15stars for her service!
google avatar

Yelp
First time here and I really enjoyed it. The food and service was grand! And it was a nice intimate setting for a bday dinner, date, or whatever. Our server gave us some really great recommendations on food and drinks that we tried and they were so tasty. I decided to get the bone marrow butter on top on my steak which was my first time having bone marrow and when I tell you it was so delicious and complimented the steak so well. Also the bbq shrimp appetizer was really good! They definitely made it to the top of my list of restaurants for sure. Oh make sure you don't have a budget lol

K Jenell F.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner, slightly underdressed but they still sat us and we were pleasantly pleased. Ambiance gave very much date night and servers were extremely attentive. We ordered a couple cocktails that hit you after the fact, the Who Dat Shrimp... were luke warm in temp but still good with a blue cheese crumble wedge salad that was tasty. A ribeye, medium-well that could have used a pinch of coarse kosher salt, but still delicious... With 3 sides, served family style-garlic mash were ok, sautéed mushrooms were good, but baaabbbyyy the brussel sprouts were delectable... my friend and I were fighting over them the next day.... Get the brussel sprouts!!! Yum! Service was stellar, and they even accommodated splitting our wedge salad, our steak, and the bill...would definitely return!
google avatar

Yelp
The food in always great no matter what you order. Never had a meal I was unsatisfied with. I will say the service above all else make the dinner experience. Kelly and Tavy were one of the best sever I've had in a long it. 5 stars to these two Kelly and Tavy. Thank you
google avatar

Raymond P.

Yelp
I ordered the rib eye and creamed spinach. The rib eye was cooked to absolute perfection. The pepper crust was 10/10. My only con was that it was a little salty but I can easily look past it considering how good it was. It came out hot and sizzling. Truly delicious. I also got the creamed spinach which was a nice app. The complimentary meatball and bread were nice as well.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of our favorite meals of all time, bar none. The food was spectacular--the pork belly appetizer was fantastic; the porterhouse for two was yummy; the sweet potatoes casserole was out of this world. But really made this an enchanted evening was the service: Terrence and Mia were easily the most enjoyable wait people we have ever had, and friends, that is saying something. We loved them both. (The food servers for larger tables were also an excellent touch). The ambiance was fun without being over the top. The music had a great beat. White linen table cloths. We started the night at Foga de chi. What a mistake. It was like going to Dennys ( no table cloths). with a gigantic bill. We bailed when our reservation was not honored with no time estimate for when we'd be seated. We waited in the dirty crowded restaurant a few minutes before bailing and going to desi. So glad we moved on. (Btw, drew brees was eating a few tables away at desi Vega)

Carolyn S.

Yelp
My husband received a generous $300 worth of Desi Vega gift cards as a gesture of appreciation for covering an on-call shift. Excitedly, we decided to use these gift cards to celebrate our 11-year anniversary at your restaurant. To our dismay, when attempting to use the gift cards, we discovered they were only valid for the Metairie location. This was unexpected, as we had assumed Desi Vega's was a restaurant chain with transferable gift cards. The restriction felt like a slap in the face, and we find it unacceptable that such limitations were not communicated clearly when the gift cards were given. If Desi Vega's gift cards are location-specific, it might be helpful to update the branding to avoid potential confusion. While I understand policies vary, I believe clear communication regarding gift card restrictions is crucial for a positive customer experience. I hope this feedback can contribute to an improved process. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. We have always enjoyed our experiences at Desi Vega's, and it is my sincere hope that this situation can be addressed

John V.

Yelp
Good food, average service but so noisy you can't hear the group you are with talking. I don't think I would be anxious to go there again.

Clarence J.

Yelp
Awful treatment at Desi Vegas in March by my group of 17 women. The staff messed up our reservations, then blamed us for the error in how it occurred. Then, didn't want to accommodate us until we stressed that there was a need to do so. The food wasn't even worth staying once we did get served. We'll never go back.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
We decided to give Desi Vega's Steakhouse a try since we had already been to Mr John's. The ambience is quiet, waiters are very pleasant and charming, and the food was amazing! I had the filet mignon which was expertly cooked at medium rare and so tender and juicy. My friends shared a porterhouse and they kept raving about it. Great place to for a special dinner/occasion! Loved our experience here!

Yelp
Went for a lunch meeting and had the petit filet with Brussels and creamed Spinach. I was very satisfied with the steak flavor.

Yelp
10/31/23 looked forward to trying out the stake house at the hotel. Wait "You must have proper attire" sign waiting at the door. Plan "B" is a go Aka put on everything black. Passing the guards after getting the thumbs up. Oh I had to sit at the counter lol. I asked for the number one beer in the world. Well my world. Guinness, yes I am claim my 20% Irish, Welsh, Scottish heritage Hey! I paid for the test!!! Of course that is not a beer you will find unless the place has the word, "PUB," on the end of the name of the establishment. However the hostess earn big LJ points by reminding the head bartender, that the is some Guinness in the back that was brought in for a special customer. When I heard that. I said, "And here I am!" I finished the six pack. Anyway I had some hidden Louisiana Shrimp and steak. Which I ate in 3 seconds. Aka no full meals I guess at happy hour. I would of like several more Shrimps they were awesome. The staff called cadets (per their receipt). We're fast and would explain the meals and how it was made. And very personal. It was a great night. I spent $55.00 there then off to the bars. Oops the place was basic white with a light Halloween decorations. The guy sitting next to me tried out something called witches brew. He said it was strong. I waited for him to turn into a frog but no we left the same time and he walked out instead of hopping out.

Yelp
I went for happy hour about 5:30 pm with a co-worker. Sat at a table and not the bar. Lite crowd. Upscale white table cloth experience. Service was good. I ordered the filet mignon, creamed spinach, and Freddie mac and cheese. The filet and creamed spinach tasted like any other steak house in my opinion. The Freddie mac and cheese was awesome! Nothing to write home about overall other than impeccable service.

Yelp
We had an amazing anniversary dinner! The apps were delicious, the service was top notch, the cocktails were on point, and the steak and lobster was Devine! Don't forget the foie Gras truffle butter for the most decadent topping to your streak! We also had the onion strings which were really good but tasted like they had been soaked in vinegar. I liked them but hubby was not a fan.. highly recommend for a great date night!

Yelp
Excellent Service. The Lobster Tail with Petite Steak was very rich and filling. Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts were great side items. Excellent spot for a date.

Yelp
We went for my husband's bday dinner. It is a nice restaurant and would recommend dressing up here. The purple uplights gives a cool vibe. We ordered The Who dat shrimp for appetizer...YUM. Definitely order this. For our entrees we ordered a filet mignon and a petite filet. As per sides, we ordered mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The filets were cooked to perfect and were juicy and seasoned very well. The sides needed additional seasoning...I'm hoping we got a bad batch. The red velvet brownie for the birthday boy was decadent! 4 stars given because the sides were bland!!!!!

Yelp
What a lovely experience! The food was delicious! We had quite the feast: pork belly and whipped potatoes, french onion soup, tomato and mozzarella salad, hearts of lettuce (wedge salad), cowboy steak, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, onion rings, and red velvet brownie. Every single thing was fantastic! In addition to the great food, the service was remarkable. Our waiters Kenneth and Terrence were extremely professional, attentive, and pleasant. The manager, Diego, also checked on us and was really warm. The hostess thanked us by name on the way out. These small touches really made us feel welcomed. I also really liked the ambiance. Most upscale steakhouses are typically dark and stuffy. This one was live and vibrant. The uncovered windows let in sunlight and it really gave it a nice vibe. It had an upscale, after-work cosmopolitan feel but was still cozy for our date night. Adding this spot to my list of favs in the city!

Yelp
Totally long and over due but what a WONDERFUL experience from start to finish. Getting a bunch of girls together ON time is practically impossible. We had reservations for 8:30 made weeks ago for a friends birthday but a wreck on the interstate had majority of our party running behind we called and spoke to the manager who told us it would be no problem and that we could still come and enjoy our night at the restaurant. We were greeted by our amazing waiter who took care of us all night. He made jokes with us along with the other staff and catered to the birthday girl especially. The nice blue/purple ambiance makes for an amazing experience. The food was amazing I opted for the crab cakes and the lobster mac and cheese. So glad everybody at the table ordered something different we got the lamb which was cook perfectly and the sauce was even better. Cannot wait to come back again

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was above and beyond. This was the perfect date night.

Yelp
Intimate atmosphere and lovely service! Came here for my husband's birthday and we were able to park on the side street right next to the restaurant and were seated for our reservations very quickly. We started out with a couple drinks. I can't remember what one of them was but the other was the Flambeaux Margarita. That one was great and I loved the black salt rim. We tried the Who Dat Shrimp appetizer and it was tasty. For the entree, we ordered the Porterhouse for Two with a side of creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was a really good cut and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The sides were also very good and complemented the steak very well without taking too much away from it. We liked this place a lot and would definitely come here again one day.

Yelp
This might be one of the best meals I've ever had. Certainly some of the best customer service I've ever had. Started within very rare bourbon selection. I'm a hard-core bourbon drinker and they even had one that I've always wanted to try. Ordered a filet medium rare and the steak came out perfect. Large sides, we got the Brussel sprouts, truffle fries, and the Lionase potatoes. All were great, and I hate Brussel sprouts. These were outstanding. I will be back again and again!

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at Desi Vega's. The hubs and I were meeting another couple for dinner and ran into significant traffic on our way in. I was panicked, and I worried that we'd be late to the restaurant. First bright spot - valet parking. Plus, plus, plus. What a time saver! Once we stepped inside we were greeted with a big "hello" and delivered to our friends who were waiting for us at the very chic bar. We all headed to our table. Our waiter was with us start to finish. He was always around when we needed him but gave us the space to enjoy our time with our buddies. He was perfect. Our cocktails were so good! Between the four of us we had several and loved them all. We each had a filet, and every one of them was cooked to perfection. We split the Freddie Mac and Cheese and the sautéed mushrooms. Amazing!! Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent.

Yelp
Horrible Service! They think they are high-end but far from it. Ambiance is bad. Very cheap and run down. Place sticks and so does their customer service. Sad excuse for a high rated restaurant. Embarrassed this restaurant is in New Orleans. Food? Definitely had better as well. Do not recommend. Fail. So many excellent restaurants in this vibrant city this is not one of them.

Yelp
They turned us down because they said our attire was too "exposing" even though no one in our party was exposed in any way. They clearing have a problem with people of color so don't come here if you are melanated.

Yelp
Saw this place advertised on Tik Tok as one of the best steak houses in the area and so glad we tried it. The food, drinks, service and ambiance were all amazing. I loved how when they brought our porterhouse out they told us which side was Filet and which side was New York and it was cooked to perfection. We will definitely return when we are in the area again.

Yelp
Love their happy hour! The food and drink menu offers plenty of options that are fairly priced! My favorite options are the crawfish potato and the steak bites with shrimp! If you're a pescatarian you can order double shrimp. It's only 4 shrimp but their a nice size, it's just a small bite plate anyways! I ordered the steak bites with shrimp and doubled backed to order just shrimp. I was STUFFED!! LOL I drank a Makers Mark cocktail since Crown Royal isn't an option. It's nasty! Whew never again. Next time I will order a Kamikaze it's a Tito's margarita! If you've never been to happy hour here, go!

Yelp
My husband took me to NOLA for my 40th bday as a surprise. I had never been and to check it off my bucket list. Due to COVID, we decided to wait till we got to the city to check everything out to see what we wanted to do and where to go for the big day since a lot has changed. We found out Desi Vegas was the spot to be for a good culinary experience so my husband called for a reservation and explained it was for a special bday dinner. She said she had a table available. We were excited to go, as the foodies we are. We know we are paying for an experience as much as we are paying for fantastic food. So, we arrive and the venue is nice. When we arrive at the hostesses station, there are two hostesses. A lady jumps in front of us, and both hostesses start to laugh and talk to the lady and ignore us. When the lady finally decided she is done and leaves, they then address us. We inform them we are here for our reservation. As we look around there are open tables on the side where we are. The lights are dim, great ambiance and nice quiet music. While, we were some of the only people of color dining, that didn't strike us as odd due to the time of day. We assume the lady is coming around to show us to one of these tables. But, no. She ushered us out of the main doors and onto another side of the restaurant. The difference was jarring. The lights were bright, the music was loud, there was no ambiance, and seated on this side was all people of color. Then to boot, they sat us at a small table on a wall in an aisle way. Stating this was the only table, when clearly there were over 20 open tables. We tried to make the best of it and spoke to the manager about a different table so at the very least we could sit next to one another. He accommodated and got us a bar table top. To say the least, we would never return based upon the experience alone. But here is the breakdown of the food: We had the shrimped wrapped in bacon: it was delicious. Crispy exterior and creamy interior Pork belly with mashed potatoes- great flavor and meat was tender Ceasar salads were good Cowboy ribeye blackened and cajun with lobster Freddie Mac and cheese with French fries Cowboy steak- server argued with husband about how he wanted his steak prepared so needless to say it didn't come out right. It was not made with the Cajun seasoning or crispy. The lobster was Good and I enjoyed the Freddie Mac and cheese. The andouille sausage and shrimp added great flavor. Note to the restaurant: perception is key. If a guest tells you they are celebrating a special event and you know you cannot provide them a special experience, tell them upfront. Treat people how you'd want your love one to be treated. Not being from your city and seeing whites on one side and blacks on another in two different experiences was jarring to say the least.
