Great little coffee bar with snacks pantry items, pickles, baked goods, cheese and sandwiches on the go. The staff is friendly and the vibe is Brooklyn bodega (open and blasting music) in the best way. I love their non alcoholic drinks selection too. The wines and spirits selection are also special.

Google
Local neighborhood shop which has a range of pantry food, spirits wine and beers. They serve good coffee here as well.

This place is a super cool new liquor and spirits store with a little bit of everything that goes with booze. There are some cool gifts in here and a bunch of neat snacks and treats. I met one of the owners, Carmen, when I stopped in for my first time today. She knows her stuff, and is really friendly. Thanks for opening up here. We have needed a place like this for awhile. Wish them the best and hope they get lots of business.

We live in the low desert, but spend time in the hi desert often. Love this shop! Perfectly curated. Friendly staff. Always something new I want to try. Highly recommend.

Google
Best coffee in yucca valley & Joshua tree! Great local goods & beer/liquor. Hands down would choose this over Starbucks. Support local businesses while you’re in the area

Google
while I love the ambiance and appreciate the great wine selection here as well as some of the yummy snacks etc, even if things are pretty overpriced (bottle of Empress Indogo Gin $50 here compared to $36 at Vons!) I was happy to shop here and support this business. But…we recently came in to buy a bottle of wine and a bag of chips to consume while we watched the oscar’s. checked the price of the wine - a reasonable $28, picked up a bag of chips labeled as Vandy Classic Potato Chips and off we went to enjoy our evening. when we tasted the chips we noticed a strange flavor, not what you would recognize as “classic” potato chip. upon investigation we discover we have paid $16 (!!!!) for a bag of potato chips that have been cooked in beef tallow and in very small letters on the back say Not Suitable for Vegetarians. I have two problems with these chips - one is that I am a vegetarian and the other is that they cost $16!! for a bag of chips!! so disappointed and feel so completely ripped off. seriously - if you are going to sell ridiculously overpriced potato chips then at least make sure your customers are aware that they are cooked in beef fat. Just no….

We’re so lucky to have Desierto in our neighborhood - they have the best curation! We mostly go for natural/funky wines but also pick up gifts for friends and shop the specialty foods since we don’t have much access in our local grocery stores. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable - definitely the spot to stock up for the weekend or to pick up something special for a dinner party.

Google
My go-to coffee spot. The wine/beer/liquor selection is top notch. I like to stop here before going to a friend’s place to grab something to bring over.

Yelp
Love the selection of great spirits. Not far from center of town. Great mezcal and tequila selection.

Yelp
I discovered this spot during the pandemic when the high desert became my second home from LA. This is such a cute shop -- though they are about to move to a new location. And they've been scaling down on what they have in stock. What you'll find most here are natural wines. In fact, this place is what pretty much introduced me to this whole phenomenon. The first bottle of natural wine that I ever had was Swick wines from Oregon that I purchased here. I loved it so much that I even ordered several bottles from this winery during the lockdown. Besides wine, they have some food. I used to get a lot more food here such as the Cowgirl Creamery Cheese (that they still offer), black and white cookies (they didn't currently carry on my last visit) and other yummy snacks. I love the vibe here and am excited for the new spot!

Yelp
Good store with cool product. But if you think you forgot something in the store after supporting small local business and call to ask if they found it you will be dismissed without the guy even taking a second to look anywhere and be hung up on. Will be bringing my own wine and liquor to Yucca next trip. 19 second phone call, horrible customer service.

Yelp
Best place to get interesting mescal in the high desert. They've got a great selection. Always find an interesting snack while I'm here too--love that they mix up their inventory occasionally so there are new things to discover. The staff is always nice too. Glad they've moved by Tiny Pony and that they've added a coffee bar!

Nadeem S.

Yelp
Good selection of spirits, especially for the high desert. Little pricey but love to support small businesses.

Leslie R.

Yelp
We stop here every time we're in the area. The wine selections, especially in the under $20 area, are fantastic. Employees are always helpful in making recommendations. Some great snacks are available too!

Jaylene H.

Yelp
Great selection of spirits and wines. Perfect stop to grab home bar tools or charcuterie style snacks. Definitely drop in and check it out when visiting Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree.

Yelp
I am deeply disappointed to find myself obliged to write this negative review. It is with great regret that I recount my recent and wholly unsatisfactory experience at your store. I was witness to the blatant insensitivity shown towards individuals of different backgrounds as well as what appeared to be ageism. Upon entering your store, it quickly became evident that the atmosphere was tainted with an air of discrimination towards anyone other than.... It is with sadness, my expectation for an elevated and respectful customer experience has regrettably been unmet. And it is my sincerest wish that the necessary steps are taken to rectify these undignified representation (by the gentleman employee who sits at the cash register) and that your business one day embody the virtues of integrity, inclusivity, kindness and hopefully can be an exceptional establishment for the high desert community. As a customer, who values ethical business practices and upholds the belief in the fundamental dignity of all individuals, I implore the management to undertake genuine efforts towards reform and consciously choose to imbue inclusivity and respect for all your customers. It is my fervent hope that my review serves as a catalyst for meaningful change and prompts a sincere commitment of inclusivity and kindness towards (all) the very people who support your store. Perhaps invest in training for your team on customer service that fosters respect for all beings and who choose to support your business and possibly livelihood. I do hope this constructive feedback elevates you in a positive way to take action to improve on your "company store culture" .... You are a representation of the Mohave Desert and your customer service has a responsibility on this whole community and after leaving your store, it's was a real buzz kill and we were left with a lasting and lingering unpleasant feeling. You can do much better.

Yelp
I enjoyed the whole curated bookstore vibe. They have a lot of items you can't find in other larger local stores. We love a good selection. However, I found the prices inflated - which you expect somewhat for buying local - but not inflated like this. It is definitely wine and liquor heavy - not many beers.

Yelp
Large selection of top shelf liquor, organized by type, Tequila, Whiskey etc. Also stock nice selection of snack items, crackers, vegan goods.

Brandon T.

Yelp
nicely curated spirits (if you're into or getting into mezcal you're in for a treat) the selection on snacks is very much appreciated. i love stopping by when heading to joshua tree/29 palms/pioneer town. the staff has always been so helpful and knowledgable. great little gem in the yucca valley area.

Yelp
Amy is such a sweetheart! She was so welcoming and helpful with us with her recommendations! I would totally come back if she's still working and helping me out! She's awesome!

Yelp
Whaaaaat, a really cool bottle shop in Yucca Valley!? We saw the Yelp page and browsed their online store, then actually noticed their brick & mortar was across the street from the coffee shop we grabbed bevvies from. So we flipped a U-ey to check it out. Well curated collection of spirits, wines, glassware & snacks. Our kind of shop for sure. Wife grabbed a bottle of natural wine to try as well as some beans from a local roaster. We've tried the wine but have yet used the coffee beans...soon tho! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. The mezcal selection is super rad.

Siobhan S.

Yelp
Super cute and well curated selection of specialty wine & spirits near Joshua Tree. I could have browsed for much longer but we were just passing through so made our stop quick. I grabbed some locally roasted coffee beans to take on the road & a bottle of Les Lunes natural wine to take home with me. If you're looking for something special nearby this a great spot to grab a bottle of something unique.

Amy H.

Yelp
Really great selection of unique wines and spirits but also some better known options. Middle table has wines under $20 and the back wall is all mezcal and tequila! Some specialty grocery options too! Vegan options as well:)) I live kinda far away but this is the only bottle shop I go to! Most places in the area are overpriced or poor selection. Desierto does it just right and the staff is always helpful and friendly!

Sally G.

Yelp
Another great option to do on a day trip to Yucca Valley. On the main road and easy parking. Pheromonal selection of wines and spirits. Their mezcal and tequila options are amazing. Make sure you take home some of the frozen pizza from NYC and some of their yummy cheeses. Can't wait to go back. The staff is very helpful and easy to work with.

Dayton R.

Yelp
Great place. However, I live two blocks away and when this store opened it took me several months to realize what it even was. If you change your sign to "Bottle Shop" or something generic and legible (like signs found in an Old West town) you will double your sales given the vast majority of potential customers are tourists who overlook the sign as it is not readable and does not indicate what is sold.

Yelp
we LOVE this bodega/wine shop/liquor store. It is our go to for wine and spirits and our 4 year old always manages to find a delicious treat as well. Excellent curated selection of cheese and charcuterie, frozen meats, ice cream, truffle chips (!!!)... they have it all. Our life in the hi-dez would be much different without Desierto Alto, we are so grateful they are here

Stephany O.

Yelp
Great Location and great selection of wine and other ethnic items. The customer service was odd, the person ringing us up seemed to be in a bad mood and sorry to say but it definitely felt like we were being treated differently because we are Latino (being that we noticed a young white female was receiving much better treatment than we were) I mean you'd think we'd be welcomed since many items in the store are Latino products and there's a huge BLM sign out front but... Anyway, It was unfortunate because it was our first stop in town and we were so excited to check it out! But hey, that's our experience- I would still recommend everyone at least check it out if they're in town. :)

Dahlia G.

Yelp
Nice selection and conveniently located. I was gobsmacked when I went to sign my name and a tip screen came up. I asked what's the tip for and she said "because we guide you". Her "guidance" was basic retail pointing and mumbling. She said tipping is normal in stores. Surprising!

Kelly S.

Yelp
We went in to purchase some specialty chips for a friend. When I asked the two women working if they had them I was met with two condescending laughs and they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Rather than helping me, I was laughed at. Cool, thanks. When we went to check out ($11 for pita chips is a joke) the woman behind the counter was stone faced and didn't speak a word to me or my partner. No, "Thank you," or, "How are you?" I do not know what we did to deserve such horrible service but I would avoid this place at all costs. Prices re outrageous and it seems the employees only care about the regulars. Horrible experience...and this is coming from a California native. Not even close to the friendly Cali attitude we are used to experiencing.

Ron Z.

Yelp
Nice selection of interesting food and drink, although it feels like they keep adding more liquor and taking away the food. And as others have said the customer service is at best neutral and sometimes just plain bad. Sometimes it feels like it's a pretentious LA shop that is annoyed to be stuck in the boonies.

Christy P.

Yelp
So good I came back twice. My friends and I had fun exploring the artisanal drinks and snacks. I felt some type of way seeing all the Asian food though. The second time around, I came to buy the Torres black truffle chips (probs the best chips I've ever had) and Compartes cereal chocolate bar. The staff were friendly both times, although I enjoyed my second time around more bc it was emptier.

Sensi V.

Yelp
Super cool high end liquor store. Insane selection of liquor. I wish I hadn't waited so long to stop in. Lots of munchies and vegan options (try the Reine cashew cheese - pricy, but so worth it)! The women working were very helpful and friendly. Can't wait for my next visit!

Paul P.

Yelp
This is not you average provision shop. This store has it all! Snacks like Tate's cookies, Point Reyes cheeses, Juneshine, wine and spirits for days, limited edition beers and Oli Pop...the list goes on and on! The staff are very helpful and friendly. This is a must stop shop if you're visiting. BONUS! The location is on the main road right before the turn to head out to Pappy and Harriet's. They also have some branded goods that are very reasonably priced. I suggest grabbing a beverage coozie. Bummed they forget to bag them with my order but they did refund me. I guess I'll have to come back sooner than later.

Richard R.

Yelp
Great selection of wine and spirits! The service is very welcoming and helpful. I was very pleased to find this oasis in the 'High Desert'

Alex G.

Yelp
Awesome spot. Met the dude working inside and he convinced/helped me buy some mezcal and I'm stoked about it. Great spot with tons of wine, liquor, beer, ice cream, and more! Stop by!!

Kiel R.

Yelp
Probably my favorite little market in Joshua tree. Super current/crafty options for beverages (good selection of craft booches), gourmet and specialty goodies/condiments. They also have a crazy selection of high quality meats! Gracias

Mike F.

Yelp
Incredible store. Everything you need and a million awesome things to discover. Desierto Alto critical to the high desert routine. Amazing mezcal, good prices on great wine and perfectly curated snack. I'll be back... tomorrow!

Mick D.

Yelp
Just moved to the area and looking for a couple of bottles of good wine. Randomly went to this place. I must say I got lucky. Incredible section. They even have Chablis and a great one not to mention. Very friendly crowd and I could bring my puppy. Will be back.

Tyler S.

Yelp
If youre in the High Dessert, like good wine and great snacks, then there is no reason you shouldn't be checking this place out!

Amy H.

Yelp
Amazing selection of wine and spirits. Not to mention delicious pizza in a bag and other munchies. Great spot.

Kim S.

Yelp
This shop is seriously curated with some of the best spirits and beer. Its pretty pricey but you wont be disappointed. We bought individual beer like boomtown and juneshine hard kamboocha paired with some really good cheese that carry as well. Will definitely be back and highly recommend

K A.

Yelp
Best little shop in the desert! You would be surprised at all the goodies they have. And their wine and tequila selection is awesome. Very friendly and helpful and any time they have suggested an item they were right!
