This place had the best taro ice cream I've ever had in my life. I literally ordered it twice and was debating whether to purchase a third round of taro ice cream because it was so good. The ladies working here are super nice and their ice cream looks and tastes like PERFECTION. This is the best dessert spot in all of Arizona. Edit: I've come back for a second time and took pictures because last time I just devoured it. Their desserts look and taste perfect.

This place is delicious! We discovered it last year and went several times. It was our first stop back in town this year. The tornado potatoes are phenomenal if you love potato chips. We get ours coated in salted vinegar. The fish ice cream cones are also delicious. Highly recommend trying the milk soft serve with crushed Oreos!

Such a fun dessert shop!! They have Korean style desserts in using the fish cone ice creams. The make the fish cones and waffles fresh. They also have a fun Photo Booth in the back.

If you're looking for a cool place for fun ice cream, this is the place! Shown: Strawberry Egg Waffle, Fish (warm soft waffle) Cone with milk soft serve and Nutella lining, custard filled Taiyaki (the fish shaped cookie looking ones, and a blue lemonade fizzy (soda) drink. The Strawberry Egg Waffle was the star of the show but everything we tried was tasty, fun, fresh,and yummy. It's all pretty standard flavors that you'd expect with nothing too out of the ordinary for what we chose. Definitely enjoyed the experience and would try it again if in Scottsdale. I would ask for more strawberries for the egg waffle since we ran out by the last 3rd of the dessert but otherwise pretty cool place to stop in for a date, friend gathering, or a kid-friendly stop in. They even have a photo booth with headbands, ears, accessories and glasses to wear in the booth! Fun!

An amazing little gem in northern Scottsdale. Some great soft serve options - black sesame was our favorite, a bean fish cone - it was amazing. Prices were very reasonable (and worth it), and the staff were amazingly friendly. Highly recommend!

Wow. Have you ever had soft serve so thick it never dribbled down the cone? Or cheesecake so pillowy it was nearly a soufflé? Or taro with so much body to the flavour that it was both nutty and bright? A must try place!

We didn’t love anything we had here unfortunately. Tried the choco brownie shaved milk ice, a slice of cotton cheesecake, and a 2pc taiyaki (one Nutella and one custard…when we had asked is it multiple fillings per fish or one, and they said we could do two…so just not what we ordered or expected). The space was okay inside, hard to find a clean and open table, not a ton of seating when we went on a Friday evening. Only in town a few days and would’ve preferred a different place but the reviews here were raving and we went based on that. The ice cream was not special or spectacular. Seemed like the taiyaki batter wasn’t cooked through all the way. Cotton cheesecake was not great. They have a Photo Booth which would’ve been awesome if there were any frame designs repping the business or Scottsdale/Phoenix/desert, but there’s none like that.

We couldn’t stop smiling after our desserts arrived! The atmosphere is adorable, the service is so warm and welcoming. We’re new to this style of desserts, but everything was absolutely delicious and such a fun surprise. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

This is a real hidden gem. I had no idea this dessert place has been at this location for the last five years. The fish cones are adorable, and everyone enjoyed the ice cream. We also had fun taking pictures in the Photo Booth.

Came by after dinner, been here a few times and usually like it, but this time the mango ice cream was just way too sweet. We couldn't even finish it, which was a bummer. But we still had fun! The place has a cute, trendy vibe and we had a great time goofing around in the Photo Booth. Staff was nice and service was quick. We'll probably come back, just gonna try a different dessert next time!

This place is so cute! We stumbled upon this in the area. Lots of variety with desserts and a fun atmosphere. We LOVED the photoshoot too it was such a great idea!! Staff was friendly, service was fast, place was very clean.

My friend has been raving about this place since moving to Arizona and finally tried it! I've been a little homesick as my go-to place used to be Somi-Somi back when I still lived in The Bay Area-- so to see a new dessert place that satisfies those cravings made me so happy! What makes this place different from Somi-Somi is that you are able to actually add other little ingredients, like Pocky, cereal, sprinkles, mochi, etc.! The ice cream is also not extremely sweet so if you decide to add those extra ingredients, it really balances everything out! I'm a huge sucker for Taro and really enjoyed their Milk Taro! I'll definitely be back to try other flavors... plus their tornado deep fried potato sticks!!!

Staple spot in Scottsdale, kind of a locals iykyk spot which I'm not complaining about. You can't go wrong with your order, all the options are great, but of course you have to try the iconic fish ice cream. I love the black sesame/matcha combination. The mango shaved ice is a great option for my lactose-free friends too. Location is cute, can definitely sit and eat there with family/friends. There's some outdoor seating for when the weather outside is nice. The best part- there's a photo booth inside! I love a photo booth, and it's perfect to play around with while you wait for your order to be made.

First time here! WOW, it was a purple thick ice cream extremely dense and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yum! Cute spot for creamy soft serve. Taro and milk flavor mix was tasty, though mostly just tasted like vanilla. K liked the crispy bits in the stawberry parfait. Friendly staff, clean space, and a fun photo booth with lots of props for making silly memories.

I have wanted to try this spot since it opened and finally did! I love soft serve but surprisingly not that many places seem to offer it. I went here with my family on a Thursday night and it was not busy, for most of the time we had the place to ourselves! They have lots of options, like flavored waffle cones! I ended up just going simple and getting chocolate in a cup with fruity pebbles, since I shared with my husband who is a bit picky, my dad and mom shared chocolate and milk flavors in a cup. The texture was really good but I wished it had a stronger chocolatey flavor. I'd probably try the taro or mango next time. My son enjoyed a few bites as well! My favorite part was the photobooth, large enough to fit all 4 adults and one toddler! Also you can order at a kiosk or just at the register. Very cute in here and glad we visited.

My husband and I were craving some Japanese sweets since our trip to Japan last October and this was the perfect place! I got the strawberry parfait with super fresh strawberries. My husband got the taro and milk fish cone with custard filling which was done to perfection. The shop is super cute with a little photo booth with props. The service was great, and the person working was super friendly. I will definitely be back to get the fruity fiesta egg waffle and taiyaki!

I've had this place bookmarked for quite a while and I finally visited yesterday. The parking in this area is busy and not super clear, but I found a spot closer to the apartments and was fine. We came in the afternoon and it wasn't busy; a few folks were dining inside. I decided to get their fish cone with Nutella filling, chocolate soft-serve ice cream, and mochi as my topping. My friend got a scoop of their chocolate-mango twist and sprinkles on top. I tried her mango and it was good. I enjoyed the fish cone: it was baked nicely with a chewy texture and the Nutella was a good choice for filling. I didn't like the chocolate soft-serve - it had a mild taste and it was more milky flavored than chocolate. I would try a different flavor next time, maybe black sesame or taro. I liked the mochi but I wish there was more. They have ample seating out front and it was nice in the shade. Overall this was a good spot and a unique offering in Scottsdale!

My group of seven --which included teenagers and a young child-- stopped by Dessert in Desert after lunch in the area. We were greeted upon entering. The shop is bright, colorful, and offers ample seating indoor as well as outdoor. At the time of our visit, they had a big photo booth towards the back of the shop. It looks fun to use, but it took up a lot of space. I tried the following: Taiyakis (Nutella & custard flavors) Mango shaved ice Matcha & black sesame soft serve The taiyakis were delightful. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The mango shaved ice was refreshing and had real chunks of mango. The matcha and black sesame soft serve was excellent. I really enjoyed the texture and flavors. Easy to see why Dessert in Desert made Yelp's Top 100 US Ice Cream Shops in 2023!

Dessert in the Desert is honestly one of the cutest and most refreshing spots in Scottsdale. The moment you walk in, it feels welcoming, clean, and so thoughtfully put together. Their desserts are insanely good, super fresh, perfectly sweet, and beautifully made. You can really tell they put passion and care into everything they create. The staff is also amazing. They're kind, patient, and always happy to recommend something if you're stuck deciding (which I always am because everything looks so good). It feels like a place where the people genuinely love what they do.

What a fun concept. I was really looking for froyo and this place is something special. In addition to unique creations it has tech forward ordering with the old school vibe of hanging out at the ice cream parlor. Even though I wanted to order at the kiosk they still helped me figure it out. Super friendly, clean and tasty.

Dessert in desert I was instantly drawn to the witty play on words. The cafe is cute , service is quick. The soft serves are a hit with the kids especially the fish cones they also have waffle cones and cups you can take your pick of single flavors or mixed ones like milk taro. I also tried the Taiyaki with Nutella and custard fillings. Both were delicious. The tornado potatoes are a great snack deep fried spiral-cut on a skewer you can get different seasonings like Garlic Parmesan, Sour Cream Onion, Salted Vinegar etc You can get 5 Taiyaki for $9.95 which is a good deal A fish cone soft serve will cost you $7 If you haven't tried them yet it's time to Treat yourself to something sweet. Outstanding dessert shop. Try the Snowmilk ice! My favorite here in town and it's not even close.

Came here because I was craving taiyaki. The taiyaki met my standards and I was happily satisfied. Will be here again for more taiyaki

Very disappointing. Walked in no smile no hello. It wasn't till my husband & I said hello did they greet us. Then the girl behind the counter did not know the answer to my question about the ingredients. U work here, u should know! Then the lady making the ice cream comes up & answers for her but in a rude way. Her expression & face were just terrible. No customer service & to top it off ice cream was subpar. Don't waste your time go check out Somisomi instead much better ingredients, quality & customer service!

Very delicious dessert. First time visit. Everything we ordered was delicious. I had the soft serve milk ice cream in fish cone with Oreo sprinkles. The fish cone aka Taiyaki cone was perfectly done. Milk Ice cream had the perfect creamy texture and just the perfect amount of sweetness. I believe it's Hokkaido milk. Cotton Cheesecake was also delicious; however, it's not as good as Uncle Tetsu. The facility is very accommodating. Decent amount of room for a few parties to sit down and enjoy. Very clean environment and restroom. Overall, I would definitely be back. Only wish there were more than one branch.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I go all the time, both alone and with friends. Every single item on the menu is amazing, but I adore the filled taiyaki, the cheesecake, and the taro cloud drink! The decor is so cute and fun, and I love their new (ish) photo booth!! The workers are always so welcoming and polite. This is such an awesome place to hang out or grab a quick snack to go. Always a 10/10 experience!

If you are looking for delicious dessert, this place is the one. It is really delicious and the restaurant's aesthetic is really cute and instagrammable. Also the service was quick and helpful as this was my first time trying it. I will definitely be back when I visit Scottsdale again.

Delicious! We love supporting a small business and desert in the desert never disappoints. We brought guests from out of town and they came back multiple days in a row. My kids are obsessed and whoever we ask if they want to get dessert they ask, can we go to desert in the desert?!?

The tornado was delicious with the Parmesean garlic. I wish we would have gotten 2! Heed the recommendation and get 2! I also had the blueberry cheesecake snow shaved ice. A small was a large portion. I really enjoyed the snow. Next time I will probably hold the taro ice cream or get a different flavor. Overall thumbs-up!

Just popped in for soft serve. Our first time here. Our last soft serve ice cream, and that was a match flavor too, was near Kyoto Castle (Japan)..this is very very comparable Delicious and we will be back very soon indeed. Beats frozen yogurt and Gelato hands down!

The desserts here are so tasty and customizable. I got the snowmilk flaked ice and it was refreshing and not too heavy. The ambiance is bright and busy, but in a good way. I want to come back and try all of the fun flavor combinations.

We were so happy to found this dessert joint on a hot day near our resort. It's clean inside, nice staff and prompt service. I got the Red Bean Snow Flake Ice w/ Black Sesame Ice Cream, hubby got the Matcha Soft Serve in Fish Cone. Smooth Ice cream, and refreshing Snow Flake Ice.

Super sweet owners, and delicious desserts. What more could you ask for?? This place is nestled in north scottsdale and is very brightly and cutely decorated. There's some indoor and outdoor seating. Super reasonable pricing, and plenty of treats to choose from. Have been coming here since Covid and they've never disappointed me. 10/10 recommend!

This was a cute little ice cream gem out in Scottsdale. It was popping on a Friday evening with indoor and outdoor seating packed but easy to find a spot to post up at. The two person team behind the counter was putting in work to make sure everybody's orders were fulfilled. They did justice to the familiar taiyaki (cake "fish" cone) concept. Unlike other places, I hadn't seen cream cheese filling option so I tried that, and it added a nice creamy salty flavor to balance out the sweet of the soft serve. The mochi topping was pretty good too. One topping is included with each cone and I paid $.50 extra for a dusting of crushed Oreo, which I think they could be a little more heavier with. Otherwise, if I find myself in this part of town, looking for a nice treat in the desert, I'll be sure to come back!

I was craving sweets after dinner and stumbled here. This dessert store serves Korean cold sweets. There are different sorts of treat such as soft-serve, fresh made waffles that's shape in a fish, egg-waffles, parfaits, shaved ice, and souffle cheesecake. I decided to go with just the matcha soft-serve in a bowl and it was good! It's not super sweet and has a light matcha taste to it. It has a milky flavored to it too. The texture was super soft and creamy! I thought it was awesome that the store has a machine that lets you place your orders instead of going directly to the cashier. It was easy to use. The store is small. But has enough space to sit and be comfortable to enjoy your sweets. Side note: - There's plenty of parking spaces - affordable sweets under $6

What a great and unique place to get dessert. Snow Flaked Ice has a cream shaved ice, with a soft served on top and toppings. The Blueberry Cheesecake and Oreo ones were so good! The fish are called Taiyaki, the ones we got were Nutella & the other is custard stuffed. They are this soft mochi/waffle batter that is so amazing. Great service by a very friendly staff. The inside is very appealing to the eye and they even have a cool camera station in it.

We wanted to try this place out because it was very similar to Somi Somi in CA. Very cute place with a good variety of desserts. We tried the soft serve and the Taiyaki. Both were good but I think there should've been more filling in the Taiyaki and the inside was a bit doughy for me. Soft serve had good flavor but the mango chocolate flavor was very faint. Green tea and black sesame was good! Overall, cute place to check if you're in the mood for desserts in the Scottsdale area.

Dessert In Desert is a super cute, fun, kitschy, unique little cafe to head to for dessert on a date, with the family, or following a girls dinner when you want a little something sweet. (I recently did the latter!) Amongst us, we tried a handful of items and enjoyed them... I did not get a photo of the Taiyaki with filling as my friends devoured it before I could snap a pic! This place is colorful and has some really interesting flavors and options on the menu, but it comes with a price... Even so, it's definitely worth a visit. Enjoy!

I ordered the soft serve ice cream with fish cone. I selected the custard for my filling, milk taro ice cream and my topping was mochi. We also got the strawberry egg waffle, it was larger than we expected. Full of strawberry, whipped cream and ice cream. I loved how everything combined wasn't too sweet, sometimes that makes it difficult for me to eat. The owners of the restaurant were super friendly, we didn't have to wait long for our desserts. While we waited, we took some photos in the Photo Booth they had in the shop. They also had props to take more fun pics. Definitely will be back, I want to try their cheesecake and the snow flaked ice.

This cafe is so cute and wholesome. I would recommend anyone trying to have a cute and fun weekend to take a friend here to this cafe. I ordered the Mochi Ice cream and it was sooo yummy! Staff is very friendly and service is very very fast. I would be mindful that the inside is kinda tiny so if you're closterphobic you will be fine but certain areas in the cafe might be too close together to sit at certain tables!

Really good dessert. Was able to sample before deciding what flavor I wanted. I got the fish cone with milk & taro. It was so good. My sister got a red velvet cone with milk & taro flavor. Also you can add toppings as well.

This is a store for the Instagram age if there ever was one. I ordered a fish-shaped waffle cone which seems to be the popular option along with the soft-serve ice cream. There are just a few inside tables and a couple more outside so it's more of a take-out spot. Fun for a quick treat.

This was the perfect place for ice cream! It was delicious, not over priced, and not overwhelmingly sweet. The staff were super sweet and it was clean inside the store. They also have a cute photobooth inside and you can purchase the pictures. Must visit!

Delightful-Delicious-Desserts! We tried the fluffy/giggly cheese-cake (SO fluffy, light, perfectly sweet- like an angel-food cake but with a softer, less chewy and ever so slight tanginess of cream cheese... buttery & hint of custard) Tarro ice cream taiyaki fish cone w/pocky SUPER CREAMY AND TASTY And a nutella & cream cheese taiyaki. Loved the lightly crisp and yummy. We WILL be back!

Fantastic soft serve ice cream. You can get even it in a cool fish cone, which is a very much in the Asian culture. It's just a cone shaped like a fish and they stuff it with things like cream cheese and ice cream or sweet red bean with ice cream. It's amazing! If you're looking for something like sweet Republic or Baskin-Robbins, this is not the place to go. But if you're willing to try something a little different that is absolutely fantastic, this is your place.

I felt like the Yelposphere let me down with this one. :( I had this place on my bookmarks since moving to AZ last summer. I am a mega-fanatic of ice cream and was intrigued that Dessert in Desert had a solid 5 stars. I figured it had to be good! As luck would have it, my boyfriend and I were eating dinner at Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers and looked up places online for dessert (preferably ice cream, of course). As my boyfriend started reading off places on Yelp, I turned and saw this place literally right next door. I was excited to test it out. Service is very friendly and welcoming. There are a few different options. You can do a fish cone with ice cream and filling. Or you can do a parfait-type special. I went with the Oreo parfait option since I was in a Cookies & Cream mood. To me, this tasted like basic soft serve. Literally no different than what you'd get at Dairy Queen. And don't get me wrong, I love DQ, but I'm just not seeing a 5 star connection. I am wondering if I just ordered the wrong thing. The fish cones seem to be popular and I'm intrigued that you can select a filling. So I will certainly come back here to give it another try.
