"A Ferndale-based mobile barbecue operation that began in 2009 selling ribs and chicken at a local farmers market and grew into a beloved (and sometimes controversial) metro Detroit food truck and catering business. Operated by a larger-than-life pitmaster known for dry-rubbed ribs and brisket, the truck became as famous for its generous gestures—dropping off pans of meat to industry friends, feeding unhoused people near its commissary, and supporting charities—as it was for sparking online disputes; it was a regular at local festivals and was planning to expand into a takeout restaurant and commissary before the operator's sudden death.
