The SE MI Brewery Discovery Tour continues. The location is cool, especially outside. But a multi-story brewery with only 3 of their own beers on-tap? Oh, no. That ain't right, Dwight. A light lager, an American IPA & an altbier. And the alt was just pushing foam. 🤬 So, only two house beers. And the guest list isn't anything to write home about. Lots of lightweights & IPAs. The only dark beer was Guinness and that checks in at just 4.2%. The place is slammed, standing room only and barely any of that. A 7 p.m. concert @ nearby Ford Field (which I am attending) has a 45-60 minute wait for tables at 5 p.m. The line for beer was 20 minutes to navigate by itself. Add in all the hassle and expense of finding parking and then walking there, I can't see me ever repeating the experience. Too many other places nearby with better beer lists, easier parking and shorter waits. Cheers. 🍻

Google
Amazing Building, Great-Looking food coming out of the kitchen, and the dark wood, low lighting with massive brew tanks prominently displayed builds you up to everything DbCo has to offer.. and their branding is awesome - i really wanted to buy a T-shirt.. OK, time for the ironic letdown :/ There were fewer in-house made beers every time i visited(as in 2, then 1 a few times), and NEITHER is good. One n done.. so much potential.. I wish em the best. Not recommended for Brewery Vets..

Google
Excellent menu with so many choices, you can’t go wrong. Had the Italian smash burger with seasoned fries. Attentive waitstaff and management, definitely a must-go if you’re downtown looking for food choices. Waitstaff checked on us just the right amount, without it feeling like a requirement.

Service is very good from the host to the sever. Chloe, our server was welcoming & friendly. The beers were pretty good. But the food, we were kind of disappointed. The nachos are not $18 worth, due to it being melted cheese (hopefully cooked in the oven & not just microwaved, but can’t tell) with minuscule amount of veggies, small dollop of guacamole and sour cream. The tacos were tasty, but again, not sure how they are worth the $18 being as small as they were. The pretzel was fair, but the beer cheese had a different taste to it (chicken soup, maybe?). Again, the service was great. Unfortunately though, I’m not sure if we would be back based on the food experience and we have been coming here since it opened.

Came here to eat after the Detroit Half Marathon. Snagged two seats at the bar so we could be in and out. Grabbed a beer. Had the Oktoberfest. I ordered the Creole Chicken pasta. My friend got the burger with sweet potato fries. I was more than pleased with my pasta entree. The bread was good as well. I was hungry and put it all away, but any ordinary meal, I would have had leftovers. Service at the bar was attentive and we could sample a couple of beers before settling on one. Had the football game on at the bar. Limited seating, but it was a cozy environment.

Olivia Al-Eisa

Google
Really great environment in the heart of downtown with a nice selection of brews. Our group tried a variety of what was on tap and enjoyed them all. Food was sub-par, the fish and chips being the favorite among what was ordered.

Stopped in on a hot Sunday and sat at the bar with a few cool and delicious pints of a light beer by the brewer. The bartender, Billy, was a pro. Lots of people stopped in to get a drink and get out of the heat. Had the short rib tacos and they were outstanding. Worth stopping in.

Mark Tomlinson

Google
Chill spot and decent beer variety. Food is 4/5 here and not your typical bar food. I recommend getting the bean queso dip as an appetizer!

Yelp
We went to the Detroit Opera House to get tickets for a show. We asked the clerk which restaurant he'd recommend, and he said Detroit Beer Company, even though (or because?) it's across the street. It was a lovely day, so we sat outside. There were maybe 4 occupied tables at a time. There seemed to be only one server, so service was a bit slow, but she was very kind and was doing the best she could. I don't know if there were any seated parties inside. I ordered the short rib tacos. I always expect tacos to be in hard corn shells but they're almost always in soft flour shells.(I guess the menu did state that they were flour tortillas, but somehow, I managed to miss that.) They were tasty but too spicy for me. Fortunately, my sister ordered a Cuban sandwich with fries, so there was ketchup on the table. That calmed down the spice enough for me to eat them. And those fries! Man, they were good! Super crispy and potatoey. If I were to come here again, though, I would order something less spicy; they had lots of options, but I wasn't in the mood for many of them.

Yelp
Food - 3/5 Service - 2/5 Ambience - 2/5 Value - 3/5 The bean dip was fantastic but my meal was just okay. There were TVs everywhere inside playing various sporting events but if you are looking to have a conversation with someone at your table, good luck. It is so pound in there you can't even hear yourself. Our waiter only came over a couple of time and once I was done with my food he never came back around. Though because the rest of the group was still eating and ordering we were there for over an hour long and I was not able to order another drink and my water never go refilled.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Have been to DBC a couple times before sporting events in Detroit. Whether you are attending or just watching it's a great sports bar with typical sports bar food. It is good for larger groups which is nice.

Yelp
Saturday afternoon- here is what we liked. * Immediate seating at the bar and anywhere. * Sitting at the bar- friendly- cool vibe. * Beer * Pretzel was warm, crusty on the exterior and soft and chewy inside. Quite good What could be better: * the beer cheese soup is the same as the beer cheese you get with the pretzel. While good- just needed something. The soup could have been hotter.

Yelp
We went to Detroit Beer Company before tonight's Tigers playoff clinching win. Sat at the bar and received awesome service from Bill. Fun personality and quick to get you whatever you need. Food and drinks were great. I had the wings and they were terrific. My wife had nachos which were also great. Happy hour pricing Monday-Friday from 4-6 as well. We will definitely return soon!

Hailee B.

Yelp
Happy hour is amazing! Half off apps, the wings are to die for and the nachos we had were good as well.

Yelp
Was walking around and decided to drop in and grab a drink and bite. The place was a little loud but it's a bar with the game being played so it's what would one expect. We were seated and told that the only food that could be ordered was appetizers but we could order anything from the bar. As I came hoping to taste a beer or two, they offered a flight which made me happy. The waitress was patient (as I had lots of questions) and offered her opinion on what she thought we should order. We finally made our picks and it wasn't long before our drinks and food was brought to the table. So the beers were on point. Granted there were some that were enjoyed more than others but for $12 I felt like I had a nice variety of drinks for the evening. Sadly the wings, although meaty, tasted like they were cooked in the microwave as finished on the grill. I can't say I'd order them again but that's just me. If you are in the area I'd recommend that you stop in and give their beers a try.

Yelp
Came downtown for a concert and stayed at the Siren, which is right next to Detroit Beer Co. We've been here a few times but this time we ate too. For starters, we shared the smoked whitefish dip and had a bowl of black bean soup. For entrees, I had the steakhouse burger and my wife had the meatball. Both were cooked perfectly. Beers are always good here, so you really can't go wrong. The service was also great, given that Detroit was getting packed because of the concert traffic. Regardless, we were able to get the last outside table at the time and our waitress never missed a beat. In situations like that, it's best to give your server the WHOLE order at once to limit their back and forth. Please come down for a nice brew and some very good food - I don't suspect you will be disappointed.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Brew was tasty. Good vibe inside. Laid back. Next time I'll try the food. The bartenders were very friendly.

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner and some beer after visiting down town Detroit for the Christmas festivities. The food here was very good as everyone liked the meal and I thought the beers were very good as well, i ordered a flight to try several and wasn't disappointed. The only knock was getting our drinks in a timely manner, I waited for 10 minutes for my 1st drink, as I seen it sitting on the bar for awhile, our server never came and grabbed it. My second beer I went and got on the counter myself.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and solid beers. I'm a sucker for a smashburger so was intrigued by the Italian version. Restaurants: smashing the shit out of a regular burger patty is not a smashburger. Regardless, the topics made up for solid flavor. Burger was predictably dry, though. Service was slooooowwwwwww.

Yelp
Love it here. I am a big fan or this place. Tucked away on the same street as Buddys Pizza and across from the Detroit Open House. Parking is street or lots near by. Please download the app for parking, it will save you the 45 dollar ticket. Staff is friendly. Always helpful. Craft beer. TVs all along the bar. I'm a fan all of their soups and salad. Their burgers are yummy too! It's kinda dark but happy ambiance, I wouldn't bring little kids here but it is family accepting! Have fun!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Came in a bit over an hour before close after the ball game and wasn't told they're only serving appetizers at this time. Should've mentioned that before the seating. Then I said I was going to have 2 beers and bring one now and the other with the appetizers and both came at the same time. I'll find a better place to go to next time.

Yelp
My friend and I ate here before a show at the Opera House last night. Literally right across the street, eating here before a show is so convenient. But if you want to park in the lot next door, be prepared to pay a pretty penny! Convenient and safe but we paid $30 to park. I personally wouldn't pay that but my friend covered most the cost. I was concerned when we first walked in because of a line but all we seated quickly. Allow extra time on a show night. We arrived about 2 hours before the show and had plenty of time to eat and relax. I ordered the steakhouse burger which came on a grilled bun. It was so tender and tasty. It'd definitely order again. My friend had the Santa Fe Chicken Salad. It didn't look anything like the photo on their website but she was happy with it. I'd visit here again before a show at the Opera House. Not sure about the location otherwise but it comes recommended!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
I came here with a group and the food was decent; it was about what about what you'd expect for a brewery where some meals were tastier than others. Our service was also okay. There was a wide variety of beers to choose from and the ambience is good for groups. The location is great, so if you're downtown, it might be worth a stop in.

Yelp
Nikki was awesome! Great hospitality and super friendly and fun. Good beer, good food menu. Sitting upstairs was nice, the place was busy but still had great service!

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch early on Sunday before the Detroit Lions playoff game. The place was popping! We were seated right away and our server was excellent. She gave us time and we never felt rushed. I tried the People Mover Porter to start and lover it. Great beer, nice flavors, no aftertaste. Really smooth drinking beer. We also had the Munich gold and Sour Series Cherry Pom. I was told they were both good! The Brewery pretzel was really nice, though at $11, a tad expensive. The chicken wings were perfectly cooked, served crisp and hot. They had an interesting peppery flavor. The fried chicken sandwich was also excellent. Messy, but good! The Jambalaya was not really that good. Somewhat bland and tomatoey, loaded with sausage but lacking much else. I'd pass on this one next time. I will be back for the beer and the wings, and yes, even the pretzel!

Yelp
Tyler makes the best Bloody Mary- hands down- his drinks are top notch and his kind and friendly Personality unmatched. It's a pleasure to come to Detroit Beer Co for a bloody and some food- this is definitely one of my FAV Detroit joints. Great location, great food, drinks, beer, and amazing staff!!!! keep up the great work and Thank You!!!

Leticia ..

Yelp
Very friendly and welcoming even when they knew we were from Cali! Beer and food was amazing! Great service!

Tracy T.

Yelp
It was amazing! Nikki was so nice, helpful, and attentive without being pushy. Food was excellent. We got wings, nachos and burgers and grilled cheese. Loved everything

Yelp
This place has a cool vibe and nice charm. The beer selection was wide ranging and the food was good as well. The most notable thing was the sweet potato fries...yum yum! Service we received was up to snuff...overall no complaints.

Yelp
Fantastic sports bar located near Comerica Park and Ford Field. They get packed prior to a Tigers or Lions game so arrive early. If you want to watch the game on one of their many screens, if you arrive 30-45 minutes prior to the game, you'll usually find good seating. Brandi provided exception service and the food was very good. There were six of us and everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. If you like breweries and sports bars, put Detroit Beer Company on your list to try.
google avatar

Lorraine F.

Yelp
Another great night at one of Detroit's great places. It's perfect for dinner before the Opera House or the Fox cause you can walk to both places. Literally across the street from the Opera House. We had a fantastic Bloody Mary and one of their big fat soft pretzels to start. Then had Jambalaya and the Creole Penne chicken pasta. Excellent Service is always friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Yelp
What can I say about this place. Absolutely wonderful. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is the perfect Detroit feel. Easy to get to, close to parking and all the attractions. I had my family in town for the holidays (party of 25) and the staff was able to get us in with a fabulous server named Brandi C. She was professional, courteous and excellent. I look forward to coming back more often.
google avatar

Yelp
My sister, her boyfriend, and I stopped here to eat for dinner. The place has a big main level and an upstairs area to eat. We ate upstairs and were able to see all the people walking into the Detroit Opera House for the 8pm show. We shared the black and white dip with tortilla chips. It was half asiago cheese dip and half bean dip. Kind of looked like a ying-yang. Wow! This was so good and addicting. Beer: The Detroit Dwarf I ordered the cheese ravioli. The ravioli noodles were decent size and filled with ricotta cheese and served in marinara sauce. What was really interesting is that it came with what looked like half a cheese pizza (without the sauce). This turned out to be the cheese bread. Both were super delicious!

Yelp
Good place to watch football before the Metallica show. Loved the seasoned fries and the burger.

Pj P.

Yelp
Our first visit here was phenomenal. The management was accommodating and kind. Our server, Taylor, was an absolute gem and made our experience go from good to great. We will be back.

Yelp
Nikki was amazing! Beers and food came quickly and our table of six was well taken care of the entire time.

Yelp
Nikki was an amazing bartender very attentive to the drinks of myself and my guest from New York. he will definitely be back ! as will I!
google avatar

Anne P.

Yelp
What a fun place! Right across the street from the Opera House so a good choice if you're going to a show. Typical sports bar food and ambience. Clean and fun - VERY LOUD but that's expected. Busy day Lions were playing the 49ers so the city was hopping. Staff was good and quick. Food was OK but it's a sports bar so let it go. I'll be back - very fun!
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
They make the beer here and the food is ok. But the crispy chicken sandwich is fire. A new beer flavor is released almost every month.

Mary N.

Yelp
Brandi C is aw some! The Maurice Salad is spot on delicious nostalgia ! Consistent great beer, great food, great service, like coming home!
google avatar

Amanda Y.

Yelp
Party of 5, all different food interests and allergies. Everyone found something they could eat and drink. Red wine, bloody merry, and of course beer. That's hard to do with our group! Nikki was a patient and communicative server. Thank you! Burgers and pirogies were delicious. Soft shell crab tacos were a little spicy coming from a no spice person. Overall, very positive experience, and close to The Detroit Opera House. I would definitely come again, with so many options in The D.
google avatar

Danielle T.

Yelp
Stopped in since I was in the area! Of course I had to have a flight because how else do I judge someone's brewing skills! Vandermill hard cider was good both tart and dry, People mover porter was smooth and like a smokey coffee, Grand River red was good and I usually am not a reds girl, Clear pressure IPA was okay but that's alot for me to say as I hate IPAs, Pilsner was very easy to drink! Servers were so nice and helpful! I ended up with a 4 pack togo even which was reasonable pricing!
google avatar

Shannah H.

Yelp
Good beer and I have to say - shockingly good vegan food. We didn't come here for a vegan meal but noticed the large number of options on the menu and decided to give it a go. Delicious! The husband also craved a sweet dessert. Surprisingly the dessert was the weakest link in the meal - overly sweet to the exclusion of flavor. But trust us when we say you will want to come in and try one of their mains. (And beer, of course.)
google avatar

Yelp
So I am enjoying my free Birthday meal and free brew from the mug club perks. They have my favorite "Local 1529 IPA". Great place to hang out, today with the baseball game going on tonight. Dbc is my go to place every time I go downtown, they are improving the roads and fixing up the street to make things easier to park and get around town. I highly recommend this place before you go out to your event or get together. You will definitely save some money by coming here first. The staff is outstanding and will help you choose the best beers that you can enjoy. So I had the fish dinner and it was great, 3 full filet's and I had the seasoned French fries along with the meal. So I really enjoyed eating dinner here, I also like that they have other options instead of a burger. A little birdie told me that they are working on a new menu. That's what I like, Dbc's always changing the menu once or twice a year.
google avatar

Richard F.

Yelp
My friends and I came into town for the browns and bills game at Ford Field. It was only a 10ish minute walk to the field from here, which was great. I ordered the wings with buffalo sauce and nachos with chicken. The wings were GREAT, they had great flavor and they were kinda crispy which is my favorite. The sauce was very great as well, good buffalo flavor; spicy but not too spicy. My friends also shared the nachos with chicken, the chicken was grilled and had some great flavor. The nachos were very good but sorta dry, wish there was a sauce on there of some sort. I would come here again if I am in-town again forsure, the service was pretty good
google avatar

Kyle M.

Yelp
im always greeted with a smile right away. The beer is excellent. Top on down a great place to hang out. i always feel welcome. My server Sami was on point, offering suggestions. She's knowledgeable. My group was grateful to have such a warm and hospitable person. I will ask for her every time I plan to come in.
google avatar

Desirae P.

Yelp
We had great food and service! The hot wings were nice and spicy and we loved the beer cheese soup! Nikki our server was amazing!

Karen P.

Yelp
More than beer. They have great food! Highly recommend when visiting detroit! Go lions!

Yelp
Sami was great! Best service one could ask for. Quick, and with great recommendations (for drinks and for things to do in Detroit).

Yelp
During my my first visit to Detroit, I participated in my tradition of tasting a local brew and decided to stop by Detroit Beer Company. The day I decided to visit, was the first day they introduced their Peach Mango Sour. This is great timing as sours are my absolute favorite and this one is definitely in my top three favorite beers of all time. Perfectly tart and perfectly fruity. I wanted to take some home with me but I appreciated their honesty and telling me that taking this beer on a plane risked the beers exploding. I ordered a second and third and decided to enjoy them on the outside patio where I was lucky enough to meet the artist who brewed this beer, which was was such a great experience and really added to me loving this beer. I like this spot so much, I wanted to buy a cap but hey were out, hope I get to pick up one on my next visit.

Yelp
Our beautiful waitress Porshia was the most perfect waitress ever!!! She is PERFECT! She is BEAUTIFUL! She is the sweetest and most attentive waitress! Thank youuuu Porshia!!!! We love youuuuu! William and Dana!! AKA HONEY AND LUCY!!!!

Yelp
She was awesome best way for We loved her she was great. Can't believe how good the food was.

Nicolas P.

Yelp
Good food, good service, friendly staff. Came here for a day trip from Cleveland and had an excellent time. Low key atmosphere and good craft beer.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Great service!! Porshia rocked it! The food and beer was great too. We were here before and after a Lions game, so super busy. She was a rockstar, she even remembered us when we came back.
google avatar

Jesse G.

Yelp
Nikki was a hoot. ver personable and even played dice with us. she is now a Bitches expert. if tou have not played Bitches, look it up. one of the best drinking games out there
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
Excellent beer tasting. They have flights of beer. Only downside is no food. Good spot for couple of pints and meeting friends before going out.

Pedro M.

Yelp
After attending and eating here I managed to analyze the food and the service. Which left me shocked for being unable to meet a good qualification. Starting with service once our food had arrived to our table it was slammed onto the table and nearly shoved into us, met with bad attitude from one of the servers. Upon seeing the food I noticed that the chicken wings were under cook and the nachos weren't warm as expected. In this location the ambiance was nice and kind and is the only thing that I would give a star for. As a recommendation I would try to look elsewhere unless this restaurant offers more one on one lessons with there employees.
