"Ferndale-based baking operation Detroit Cookie Co. is preparing for a big expansion. Lauren and Tony Sevy, owners of the two-year-old bakery and cafe, acquired a 4,000-square-foot commissary kitchen at 22050 Woodward Avenue last week. The couple plans to use the new space to expand Detroit Cookie Co.’s catering business, host baking classes, and open a cookie truck. The bakery is also eyeing an expansion with the goal of opening two to three new locations within the next two years in Troy, Canton, and Detroit." - Brenna Houck

I think the novelty of this shop is what makes it fun. The cookies are pretty good but similar base flavor/texture for each with things thrown in. I’d love to know if they use real butter or a shortening. We got a dozen of almost every kind of the normal non-XL ones. Some of the flavors were good and some of them very strange (esp with the potato chips). The coffee one was nice as I like coffee and you can get the crunch of the beans. Overall I judge a place by its standard chocolate chip cookie and it was just alright. I would maybe come back but again it would be for the adventure of the fun recipes - not for the best cookies.

Google
So damn good! I had a Cookie Ice Cream sandwich which was Superman ice cream between two Blue Moon cookies. OMG! If you love Superman ice cream like I do this is a must try! The Superman Cheesecake is also phenomenal.

Google
Me and a group of my friends were celebrating after graduating and we just happened to stumble on Detroit cookie Company on DoorDash. We were so excited because the flavors looked amazing and the pictures were immaculate. To our shock and horror when they arrived, they were not salvaged. They were very dry and thin, and the Raspberry orea cheese cake tasted like nothing. I would recommend not ordering from DoorDash.

Google
Ok needed some sweets. Ordered the following: Ultimate Peanut Butter, 8 mile Mix, chocolate Chunk and oatmeal raisin. Some of the worst cookies I have ever had. So dry they crumbled in my hand. Only cookie that had any type of moisture and softness was the oatmeal raisin. I would never order anything from them again. They sucked!!! N

Google
Love, love, love this place. The cinnamon rolls are AMAZING!!! They have a wide variety of cookies and I've never had a bad cookie. I got a cinnamon roll and a half dozen of cookies- smores, banana pudding, 8 mile, big 3, browned butter pecan, and oatmeal raisins all for $13! They didn't last the weekend.

Google
Detroit Cookie Company has the be cookies in Michigan! My family has loved them for years. Even shipping a dozen out of state for birthdays, baby showers, and a good smile! I love the ease of shopping with DCC online and in store. You instantly feel sweet energy from the staff when you walk in and appreciate their knowledge of all the new and favorite flavors. Its helpful when I grabbed a dozen for a friends birthday party. I highly suggest going in today - you'll be hooked!

Google
Great cookies great service definitely recommend. So many different flavors to choose from! They also have cakes, ice cream and cinnamon rolls! Recently priced as well

Google
So today my coworker decided to order us some dessert from here the cookies taste so good but the size was so small for the price I think 🤔 it is too small. So we are going to try a different place to see if we get what we pay for stay tuned..

Yelp
I've been coming to this bakery regularly and finally decided to share my thoughts. The staff is incredibly friendly, and Josh, who often helps me, is exceptionally kind and knowledgeable about the cookies. The cookies are absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I love the wide variety of flavors, especially the seasonal options. This is hands down my favorite cookie spot in Detroit. The bakery itself is cute and very purple, adding to its unique charm. I can't recommend this place enough!! My top favorites are: 8 Mile, Double Chocolate Coffee Toffee, Chocolate Chunk, and Birthday Cake.

Yelp
I'm a bit torn on this one. I have seen these cookies on instagram over the years and have heard of them community wide as well. This has been on my cookie bucket list so we had some time after the zoo. True, the cookies were very fresh and very delicious. We had the peanut butter cookie, a sprinkle cookie with brownie bits, a blue sprinkle cookie filled with brownie and cheesecake, and a peanut and jelly blondie. The cookies were good. They were soft, the family really loved the stuffed one. For me, the blondie was everything. It was so ooey, gooey, tasted like the perfect PB and J sano got mixed with a dessert. Honestly, I would return for that alone. I liked the choices. I would love to try their cake. I liked that they had parking, it made it easy to pick some cookies up for dessert on the way home to making dinner. I did not love the prices. It was almost $20 for a blondie and three cookies. The cookies were really small for that price. I know if we bought more it might have saved us a little but being a new customer I wanted to try the food first. We also did not love the customer service. The person helping us was not as friendly as I would have expected and a bit argumentative. Perhaps it was a long day, and very hot outside, but we were a bit put off the attitude. We love local businesses, want to support them and frequent them but it is hard to do so if someone is rude, especially since there is a lot to competition out there for cookie customers. Overall I do want to come back and try more. I know the family enjoyed the treats.

Yelp
So much to choose from the selection of cookies, cake slices and ice cream. Some unique flavors were unique to Michigan, Superman, which is a combination of colors - red, blue and yellow and overall was an indescribable set of flavors. We decided on try a 7 different cookies - big three w/ potato chips, cherry and chocolate, the pb volcano, Superwoman cheesecake, baklava, the raspberry cheesecake Oreo and the banana pudding. Also choose the pistachio ice cream although I should have gotten the lemon cheesecake flavor. All of the cookies were good but the PB Volcano was our favorite. Will definitely be back to grab some more !

Yelp
Horrible service! I ordered 2 dozen cookies but never received them. I would not do business with a like this
google avatar

Melinda E.

Yelp
I must give this place 5 stars for the decor, customer service and vibes . The variety of desserts in this smaller space is insane so I stuck to the traditional chocolate chunk since it was my first time here. The cookies are too sweet for my liking but if you have a sweet tooth this is the place for you ! Follow my IG: viewsandmenus

Yelp
Y'all, I had their cinnamon coffee cake cookie once and it was AMAZING, please bring it back! They always have some amazing unique flavors and you can really tell they're fresh. Not to mention the sweet (no pun intended) staff and cute location. Always glad to visit!

Cole L.

Yelp
Decided to make a trip to Detroit. Found this place and it was by far the best cookie I've ever had. The peanut butter volcano cookie was 1 of 1. Even the ice cream is really good. Best cookies in Detroit. There is no argument
google avatar

Kirsten C.

Yelp
To start I love that they have vegan options. I got the vegan chocolate chip, biscoff and cookies & cream. I loved the biscoff and cookies and cream and recommend both. The chocolate chip was good but the other two flavors I really enjoyed. My only recommendation would be to offer to warm the cookies if the customer wishes to have any at the time of purchase. I purchased double of each flavor and had 1 right after purchase and it didn't hit the same when I heated it up in my oven at home. Overall, the Quality of the product was there.
google avatar

Elisa K.

Yelp
I ordered online and gone in to get cookies and everytime my experience has been great. The cookie menu is mouth-watering and I love the variety and the specialty cookies that they have. What I love more are the VEGAN options. I have a little one that cannot have milk or eggs, but he loves cookies. I'm so glad that he isn't left out of tasting these yummy cookies. Also, it helps that the staff is always super nice and helpful.

Yelp
I consider myself a sort of cookie aficionado and I believe DCC has the *best* cookies in the metro Detroit area. They are always perfectly baked--crispy edges and ever so slightly underbaked/chewy in the middle. They also aren't hiding under an inch of overly sweet frosting (I'm looking at you Crumbl cookies). DCC comes out with new flavors every month that are featured on their Instagram so you can start planning out your cookie haul ahead of time. My personal favorites are the B-special (cinnamon and Oreo), blackberry with lime, and lemon cheesecake (the last 2 are seasonal). All the staff are super friendly and they have great customer service. I've been here more than a dozen times and I'm consistently greeted the moment I enter and asked about what the rest of my day is looking like when I'm checking out. It's the little things ;) Side note, I'd suggest to skip the cinnamon rolls that are only sold on the weekend! I find that they're cloyingly sweet because they're slathered in icing and often are over baked.
google avatar

Mara W.

Yelp
Cookies!! What can I say AMAZING!! Anytime we are in Ferndale for dinner we stop at the DCC. The cake!! Selling Peteets is ohhh lalala! So delicious, moist and perfect flavor! We have ordered a custom Valentines cookie for our son for the last 5 years! He LOVES them! The chocolate chip cookie is divine! Service with a smile. Never disappointed! The ambiance is fun! Light hearted and inviting!
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Not a fan of the cookies but the cinnamon rolls are the best in the State. Only sold on Saturday and Sunday so get there early if you want them.
google avatar

King M.

Yelp
Trying the chocolate chip cookies they where good cookies the packaging was a little low budget I expected better however you don't eat the packaging u eat the cookies I give them a 8 out 10 if you want a cookie that's basic not really special but taste good go here you won't be disappointed I still crave a little more dessert the job is not done lol
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in Ferndale. They have a few regular cookies as well as a rotating menu. My favorite on the regular menu is the raspberry cheesecake Oreo- it is so gooey and soft and a great mix of unexpected flavors. Yesterday I ordered the rotating menu lemon poppyseed cookie (called sunshine something?) and it was super moist like a lemon poppyseed muffin and It was to die for. The cookies are a bit expensive (about 2$ per cookie) but you get what you pay for! I love to pick up a box to take to gatherings or as a gift. Most people buy a box with a half dozen or dozen. Parking is easy right off of Woodward, you can't miss the bright blue and purple building. They also have a drive thru and serve ice cream and a few other treats.
google avatar

Anonymous X.

Yelp
Definitely the best cookies in the area. Whichever flavor you end up eating inevitably tastes exactly like the flavor they were going for (close your eyes and it really does taste like your eating pumpkin cheesecake, for example). Their flavors are so accurate it's eerie. One cookie alone packs quite a punch so I like that I'm able to stop at one even though they aren't huge. I'd be very curious to know the nutrition info on these, but perhaps it's better not to.

Yelp
I've been seeing people post about the Detroit Cookie Company on Social Media and I have been wanting to try them for awhile. I decided to take my infant Son with me and try them for the first time. As I began my order at the counter, the nice lady behind the counter asked me if I'd ever been there before and proceeded to give me a description of each of the cookies they offer. I decided to go with a dozen cookies because there was so much variety. The cookie choices I went with were double chunk, PBJ, Big 3, Browned butter pecan, ultimate peanut butter, Birthday cake, raspberry Oreo cheesecake, oatmeal raisin, 8 mile mix, s'mores and the B special. I haven't tasted all of them yet but the ones I have had are delicious. My favorites are the birthday cake and definitely the S'mores. Are the cookies a bit pricey? Yeah. The quality you get is top notch and worth it. As I was checking out, I recognized there were cold brew coffee handles behind the counter. I love cold brew coffee. To top it off, the lady mentioned that they had a bourbon barrel cold brew on draft that I could not pass up on. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! I will definitely be back in the future. A great experience.

Yelp
Great cookies with some unique flavors like banana pudding. I was planning on ordering just 2 but left with 4. I was going to get some ice cream but had to stop myself. They also had coffee and other sweets. I definitely recommend this place for anyone in the area.
google avatar

Eli T.

Yelp
While visiting Detroit I had a craving for a sweet treat and found this place on Yelp. Definitely was not disappointed. There was a large selection of cookies and ice cream. With a couple seasonal options like the blue moon cookie which was excellent! My favorite was the pocket full of sunshine which is also a seasonal one. You can't go wrong with any of the options they have to offer. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful!

Brad H.

Yelp
I found the Detroit Cookie Company at the Grand Rapids Comic Com. I have grand kids who love cookies so I picked up a bunch for them. To say they were delighted is an understatement. These cookies exceeded my grand kids expectations. Two types stood out for me, the "8 Mile Mix" had a blend of candies that tasted like the energy of the 8 mile corridor. And the "Ultimate Peanut Butter" was easily one of the top 3 peanut butter cookies I have had in my lifetime. Sorry, no photos. Even the crumbs were to small for a church mouse.
google avatar

Oyami N.

Yelp
I have been getting cookies here for years. Tonight was no different. I've been smoking weed for hours, needed something to dine on. Detroit Cookies hit the spot. So good, perhaps they are even better high! Oh yea they are! No idea what I ordered or how the magically arrived, but they made me oh so Happy. Perhaps tomorrow I will have regrets
google avatar

Yelp
Detroit Cookie Company makes the best cookies around. Great taste, fresh, unique flavors -- they are simply amazing. Are they a little pricey? Probably - are they worth it? Yes. I'm a bit of a chocolate chip cookie snob. It's my go to -- it's the main reason I come here. And DCC's is the best -- seriously, the best. The other varieties are just as good and often fun. The crew here is always friendly and service is top notch. If you're in a mood for a great cookie... or maybe a cinnamon roll, ice cream or some of the other treats they off, get your butt over to Detroit Cookie Company. The best cookies around.
google avatar

Tim S.

Yelp
This place is Amazing. I love coming here and always buy it for people/events. They have a HUGE variety of cookies that make me always come back. Just wish it was closer to me
google avatar

Lynette R.

Yelp
Don't go in there expecting to walk out with just one cookie. They have such a selection of cookies. Ended up taking advantage of their 1/2 dozen special. Banana Bread, Banana Bread Pudding, Bro's and. Raspberry Cheesecake are the ones I remember. I tried a bite of each one. The ones that really stood out were the Peanut Butter, Banana Bread, Raspberry Cheesecake and Banana Pudding. The other two were ehh. One was supposed to have a brownie like flavor. If kind of did but not really. I don't remember what the sixth one was. You can find some tasty selections.

Alex T.

Yelp
Good cookies and good selections!! Def recommend - can be a little pricey but I don't mind!
google avatar

Ren F.

Yelp
I'm confused here. This is the second place I've tried cookies in Michigan. Is this the type of cookie that Michiganders grew up with. This place tasted like the cookies I got in Eastern Market...blah not good. Has anyone tasted a good quality cookie in this state??
google avatar

Jillian D.

Yelp
It's dangerous living in such close proximity to this place. Detroit Cookie Company has the perfect treats to satisfy my extreme sweet tooth! I've been several times and this place never fails. I'm always blown away by their friendly staff, unique cookie flavors, and perfectly baked treats! I'm a big baker myself and I'm so impressed that the quality is always excellent and consistent. I also appreciate that the cookies are unique and not something that could be easily replicated at home. Last time I tried a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with cheesecake and brownies! It was a monster of a cookie and also extremely delicious. I've been here plenty already and I'm sure to be back in the future. A must stop while in Ferndale (I also appreciate that they stay open late - perfect for when you are looking for something sweet post dinner)
google avatar

Brittany E.

Yelp
The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The cookies were definitely worth the hype and I plan on returning.
google avatar

Maria W.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful! Cookie were oh so good! My daughter the birthday girl loved them - Raspberry Oreo Cheesecake and so did everyone else!! Can wait to go back and try them all!
google avatar

Marissa C.

Yelp
I made a quick stop here for a dozen cookies for some coworkers and I and overall, it was a wonderful experience! There aren't many places to sit and enjoy your cookie around the shop but it is walking distance to many other things to def a good stop if you are exploring Ferndale. There is also a parking lot on the side which is easy to miss the entrance but there are many spaces! I got a variety of cookies and they were all amazing especially the Oreo raspberry cheesecake one! These cookies have great cookie integrity and just fall apart from their delicious buttery softness. Service was very quick and the shop was adorable. Definitely a must try!
google avatar

Arion M.

Yelp
Best cookies I've ever had in my life. I'm addicted to this place and I am so impressed every time I visit the location. The staff is AMAZING, always so kind and willing to explain. If you live in the metro detroit area, you need to visit DCC. My favorite cookies: - chocolate chunk (10/10) - bro-cookie (9.99/10) - browned butter pecan (7/10)
google avatar

Dom L.

Yelp
Woman owned and vegan options. Sign me up! I think these cookies are so freakin good. Anytime I'm in the state, I'm hoping that I'm near one. This store is cute and clean and even had festival decor. Staff super nice too!
google avatar

Emily Y.

Yelp
I've heard a lot about Detroit Cookie Company and their XL stuffed cookies so I wanted to give them a try. So I originally went there for their XL stuffed cookies but upon trying to order found out they didn't have any today. So I settled with ordering half a dozen ($12). I ordered the Banana Pudding, PB Volcano, Double Chocolate Coffee Toffee, Raspberry, Chocolate S'more and Browned Butter Pecan. From the above the banana pudding was my favorite - it tasted EXACTLY like banana pudding. Overall, all of their cookies are good and tasteful. My only complaints are wish the cookies were served warm and that they were out of their XL stuffed. Definitely will be back though.
google avatar

Ash B.

Yelp
The people here are soooo friendly! The vibe is everything. The cookies were sooo good me and my sister forgot to take pics. Lol. We will be back very soon!
google avatar

Crestin G.

Yelp
Ring... Ring.... Ring Cookie Monster answers... Me: Is this the Cookie Monster? Cookie Monster: Yes it is Me: Brooooooo You're missing out on the best cookies ever from the Detroit Cookie Co. Cookie Monster: C is for cookie that's good enough for me Conclusion: It's about time I found a cookie spot besides Mrs fields and Nestle in the malls. These cookies are the right amount of sweet, have a great texture and out of the box flavors.
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Love love love. the cookies and always stop in when I. Town. My favorite the peanut butter volcano. Also love the blueberry cheesecake. Highly recommend a stop in.
google avatar

Shunda B.

Yelp
Treat yourself because you can - if you don't look at the price; everything looks so good. Yes it's up there but don't be discouraged; personally I believe these types of cookies aren't meant to be shareable. UNLESS YOU HAVE STRONG WILLPOWER!!! #beselfish I wanted to try every single cookie but I opted for specialty selection since theyre only for a limited time. I was not disappointed and staff was SUPER DUPER friendly. Only second visit but I'll keep coming back. Happy Eating!!!
google avatar

Keith D.

Yelp
First time trying this. Ironically I saw someone on a stream eating a cheesecake filled cookie and lo and behold they have the same cookie here. Oooooh La La!!! I also bought some oatmeal raisin cookies. Just to taste of course. And a celebratory piece of cake sponsored by my daughter. Chocolate crunch cake I believe. Yummy!!!
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
Love this place and hate they deliver cookies. I'm like Cookie Monster with the dozen cookies...Nom Nom!!! They have and amazing staff and awesome assortment of cookies and sweet treats.
google avatar

Raven W.

Yelp
I was craving something sweet and I've heard a few people mention this place. I got a half dozen cookies. The middle of the cookies are very doughie. They could of baked a little longer. I'm not sure if this is their signature way of making cookies but I didn't like it. The flavors are good.
google avatar

Leah W.

Yelp
I am so incredibly happy to update this review. My workplace just ordered several dozen of these cookies for an event and I had a chance to try a few flavors. They did not disappoint and I ran to Yelp to give credit where it's due! This time around, each cookie had its own distinct flavor profile EVEN if the dough base was the same (their original dough). I'm not sure what they changed, but it made all the difference. Our entire staff was raving about how good these cookies were. I would not mind spending $2.50/cookie if they all taste like the ones I had this week.
google avatar

Jon G.

Yelp
I plan dates for people and when they say they're celebrating a birthday, or want something cute and sweet, DCC is my first stop. They have so many amazing flavors and something for every sugar loving person out there. D yourself a favor..wake up on saturday or sunday morning. hop in the car with someone you love, and get the cinnamon rolls!!! They are hearty and delicious! The amount of options available are giving 'kid in a candy store' vibes as you can really find something that makes you excited in here, even if you're a picky eater. love, love, love you guys and i'll see you this weekend for more cinnamon rolls haha.
google avatar

Geoffrey V.

Yelp
Wow. I guess I would say, oh how the mighty have fallen. The cinnamon rolls I raved about in my original review have so gone down hill. I picked up a couple rolls today after many months of avoiding the carbs and calories . Decided to treat myself today and was really disappointed. The rolls are now overly "bready", dry and flavorless. The icing was grainy and plain, at least what little of it was there . on the plus side, I still avoided the calories and carbs. The 2 stars are because the employees are super friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
I've been a big fan of DCC since they opened. Their cookies are a favorite dessert in our household and is a must try if you're visiting the area. They also make amazing cinnamon rolls!
google avatar

Aparna B.

Yelp
If you need a sweet treat, Detroit Cookie Company can definitely help! Located in Ferndale (so for me kind of hard to get to), it's a small bake shop that offers up various cookies, brownies, blondies, jumbo cookies, vegan cookies, coffee and ice cream! I ordered a half dozen cookies (4 non-vegan and then 2 vegan), plus one jumbo cookie. Only a few of the cookies wow'd me unfortunately. The fruity pebbles cookie, the vegan biscoff cookie, and the jumbo chocolate chip. The others just kind of lacked a little flavor. It's like they were trying to put too much into a cookie to make it taste good. In my opinion, really good cookies don't need to be over-the-top in flavors! I though. Prices can get high if you end up buying a lot, but they are handmade and baked fresh daily so I can see why! Parking can be a bit tricky - they have a lot, but if it fills up you need to find street parking along Woodward.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
Great cookie store, super legit. We purchased some clothing and two cookies- there was quick service and tons of cookie options. We purchased the chocolate chunk and the strawberry Oreo cheesecake which was shockingly delicious! We did feel like the man helping us was a bit pushy to have us order ASAP which normally would be awesome but there were so many options to read through. Overall- we'd definitely recommend. They also had cakes- milks- ice creams etc.
google avatar

Karley M.

Yelp
Had to do a U Turn after driving by this gem. They had me at cookie. How can you go wrong. Staff is super friendly. Cookies are so moist with so many unique flavors to choose from. I will say prices are a touch high, but it's worth every cent!
google avatar

Jaime B.

Yelp
I got individual cookies to put in my bridesmaids boxes as a little Detroit-themed treat and they were such a hit! Not only are the classics delicious, but there are so many fun and unique flavors, there is always something new to try.
google avatar

Sari G.

Yelp
What a cute place! The cookies are so good and unique. They use random ingredients such as better made potato chips to make their cookies stand out. They are soft and delicious. We had the night cap and the pb volcano. Cute place and surprisingly busy. Free parking. Update: I've tried a lot of the cookies and they are all tasty but my ultimate favorite is the jumbo chocolate chip cookie with the chocolate chips on top. It reminds me of the bakery cookies I used to get as a kid but this one is softer and more chocolatey!!!
google avatar

Muhammed E.

Yelp
I have a soft spot for cookies; cookies are my top choice of sweets among all desserts. The Detroit Cookie Co. was the perfect place to bridge the gap between my hunger and delicious cookies (and a cinnamon roll)! Okay, time to talk cookies! My self control was really put to the test here because all of the cookies were gravitating. The two I indulged in were the Raspberry Oreo Cheesecake cookie and the Peanut Butter Volcano. The Raspberry Oreo Cheesecake cookie (I should say cookies because I ordered two of these) were so soft and rich in its raspberry and cheesecake flavoring. The Peanut Butter Volcano was my favorite between the two, but that is because peanut butter cookies are my absolute favorite. I really loved the peanut butter center (volcano) covered in chocolate which erupted my taste buds. The touch of graham cracker crumbs on top was a great compliment to the cookie's flavor. I also ordered their Cinnamon Roll (which are only available on a first come, first serve basis on Saturdays and Sundays according to their website's menu). It was so worth it! It had the perfect balance of cinnamon to icing. Next time I visit, it will be on the weekend just so I can order another Cinnamon Roll! The service was exceptional. Everyone here was friendly, and that always helps to make for a great experience. I definitely recommend Detroit Cookie Co.!

Yelp
Love so so good. Good flavors and priced well for the type of dessert offered. Get the peanut butter volcano
