My wife and I went to the Detroit Institute of Arts film theater for the special showing of the silent film Nosferatu with a special live musical performance by the Detroit Bureau of Sound.
The screen was of adequate size and the seating was nice but much beyond that I would be hard-pressed to provide a positive review.
The Detroit Bureau of Sound's live performance was terrible!
They used a constant eerie sound effect throughout the entire film, even when there were times such as when picking flowers, it was completely inaccurate.
It was as if they had never seen the film and did not actually score the music to what was taking place.
A halloween sounds soundtrack that was on repeat would have done a better job for this viewing.
In addition, the representative from the theater instructed the audience that the film would run for approximately 1 hour, this was woefully incorrect as the film lasted for more than 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Being on a timed tour, this was very bad information as it only provided us 15 minutes after the film to enjoy The Institute of Arts.
If this is how the theater runs their tours I will never participate again.
