Wyandotte Declares Its Downtown a Pedal Pub-Free Zone | Eater Detroit

"The company's co-owner says local bans on downtown operation and onboard drinking are bad for business and offer little benefit to customers, arguing that multi-seat pedal pub tours can bring tourism and economic activity to a city's core. Under Michigan law pedal pubs (legally called “quadricycles”) have been permitted since 2015 and state rules allow patrons to bring and consume beer and wine aboard while prohibiting operators from drinking or serving; nevertheless, local governments retain authority to restrict where and how these vehicles operate, with some suburbs prohibiting possession or consumption of alcohol on the pedal-powered vehicles within downtown areas.
