Wow! How good is this. The Deutsch Apple Bakery in Blanco, Texas, is a charming little spot that hits you with an irresistible wave of freshly baked goodness the moment you step inside. The aroma alone—warm, sweet, and inviting—makes your mouth water and sets the tone for a delightful experience. They’re famous for their apple pecan muffins, and for good reason: these treats are perfectly moist, packed with flavor, and a must-try. But honestly, you can’t go wrong here. Close your eyes, point to anything in the display case—be it a pastry, cookie, or bread—and it’s guaranteed to please. Every bite feels like a labor of love from this small-town gem. The service adds to the charm. The locals behind the counter are genuinely friendly, offering warm smiles and a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you can linger, savoring your treat with a cup of coffee, and soak in the cozy atmosphere. Whether you’re a Blanco regular or just passing through, Deutsch Apple Bakery is a stop worth making. Cash (it’s a small-town spot!) Is preferred, credit cards accepted. Be prepared to leave with a bag of goodies—and maybe an extra apple pecan muffin for the road.

Google
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We decided to randomly stop at this place and we are so glad we did. Don't let the outside fool you this place is serving some of the best apple pastries ever hands down! This is definitely a diamond in the rough sort of place. I highly recommend the apple pecan pastry. The textures and flavors were incredible

Google
The wife and I love to ramble Texas, and always make time to explore the many small shops, restaurants and bakeries. We are go glad that we tried this little place. The coffee was very good, and we sampled both muffins and cookies (yeah! why not!) and we were not disappointed. Fresh and tasty! We decided to take a few more "samples" with us for on-the-road fortification. This is a tiny establishment, so plan ahead, but certainly go!

Google
Amazing. I would give them a 6 out of 5 if I could. I got the apple crumble bar and the almond love cake. Words cannot describe how good it was. Where is this places Michelin star.

Google
This is a nice little spot to go to for desserts. Everything is made fresh daily. We had the blackberry pie, Butter Bar, Pecan pie bar, chocolate sheath cake with pecan, and the lemon bar, which all were delicious! My favorite was the chocolate sheath cake. We will be going back again.

Google
I've driven by this bakery in Blanco probably 5 times a week for years and never stopped. What a tragedy that I never did! There were SO MANY delicious items to choose from! The jalapeño sausage wrap was the best I've had and my husband said his cherry cream cheese Danish was the best he's had too! I'm going to have a hard time passing this place again and not stop!

Natasha Recio

Google
YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY MAKE A STOP HERE!!! Their Texas Pecan coffee is spectacular! Their pastries are amazing, especially the Apple Pecan Cream Cheese Danish!! It's totally a hidden gem. We will definitely be back.

Stephanie Hayden

Google
We arrived on Friday morning right at opening when everything was just coming out of the ovens & being put into cases. My teenage son said the cinnamon rolls was one of the best he's ever had. My banana chocolate chip muffin was bursting with flavor & still warm. Decedent & rich probably best describes what we tried. Will definitely be back, the bakers know what they're doing here, great gem in Blanco.

Yelp
I grew up in a neighborhood where our 90-year old Mormon neighbor of many decades bakes goodies during the holidays and brings them over. Charming iced sugar cookies, gingerbread men, with details like hot candies for buttons. But, I digress. I say all of this to communicate that the items (their famous apple pecan cake, and their cherry pie) I've tried at DAB so far taste like simple, not fancy, but expertly crafted recipes handed down over generations that taste like a warm hug and a blazing fireplace on a rainy day. They are perfectly sweet (not overly so), fresh, wholesome and DELICIOUS. The cake was still warm when we picked it up on our way into town, and I'm going to take a couple loaves home with me when we leave! In the meantime, I'm going in for a fresh baked something EVERY SINGLE DAY until we leave! Light years better than any patisserie in my book. Also, their service was lovely!!

Yelp
For years the wife and I have passed by this little place too early and too late or on the wrong day. Well not today. We took the new motorcycle on its maiden ride straight to the Deutsch Apple. The little bakery has a couple small tables in the dining room. If you have a large party (6 or more) you may want to plan on the picnic tables outside. Glass case displays with various assortments of delectables from which to choose. Everything looked so good. We ordered a couple scrambled egg hand pies, an almond love cake, and an apple pecan muffin. The apple pecan muffin was hands down the best. The Almond love cake is very sweet, a little too sweet for me but tasty. We gobbled it up and continued our ride. So glad we stopped. If you are in the neighborhood, give this little place a try. Bon appetit Yelpers.

Yelp
Saw this bakery off the beaten path ,and just had to stop by. I got one of their cinnamon rolls which are large enough to share as well as a cherry turnover. My husband and I split them and they were excellent! It's a small bakery no place to sit inside. There are picnic benches outside to sit if you want. They make whole pies, kolaches( will get one of those next time), cupcakes and a lot of other goodies.. Hope to make a trip up to Blanco again to try a few other bakery goods from this shop.

Yelp
Hey yall just gotta give a shout out to this bakery. So I am having Thanksgiving and everything, somebody brought apple pie and cookies and they were so good. I said bitch where did you get these treats, they are so damn good. And she is like don't call me bitch in front of the kids but they are from Deutsch Apple in Blanco. I will definitely be going to Blanco soon to start buying.

Yelp
We will never drive through Blanco, Texas again without a stop at this bakery. Everything we tried was great. I especially enjoyed the caramel apple muffins. The cookies are enormous and just the perfect amount of both soft and crisp.

Gus M.

Yelp
The best bakery ever!!! Everything is fresh and delicious! We detour every chance we get when we travel to the hill country. Their apple pastries are yummy but the thing I crave is the blueberry muffins loaded with blueberries and that crispy topping. Shout out to the customer service second to none.

Yelp
I was wanting a sweet dessert to share with family after a trip into the hill country. I stumbled upon this bakery located in Blanco, TX, known for their apple pies and other baked goods. When I arrived, I was pleased to see that they had ample parking available, with a few tables and chairs to enjoy sweet treats outside. Entering in, I was immediately greeted by the smell of baked pies and cookies. I could see a baker working hard in the back, with a counter attendant taking orders. They have a couple chairs and tables inside if you'd prefer to eat on site. I ordered 2 pies: apple and blueberry. I also opted for a lemon square as I know P2 enjoys tart sweets. I paid about $18 for all 3. I'd say the pies are small for how much they charge. I do appreciate that they boxed my order in a sturdy box. Of the 3, the apple pie was my favorite. It wasn't too sweet and the flavors were well balanced. I felt that the blueberry pie tasted a bit bland as the blueberries weren't sweet, and they didn't add any additional sugar to the pie. The lemon square was the sweetest of them are and very tart. I'm not a fan of super sweet foods so I passed that on to P2. All in all, this was a cute bakery with a good selection of baked items. I'd be willing to go back to try their cookies next time!

Yelp
The people and service here are FANTASTIC!! And their pastries are beyond DELICIOUS We visit every Friday and even celebrated our granddaughter's birthday here. Dawn, Meg, Megan and Brittany go above and beyond. Thank you all for the special day! Ken and Dawn Baxter and sweet Princess P

Yelp
O M G!!! If you find yourself ANYWHERE NEAR Blanco you *must* go to this bakery! I normally don't have a sweet tooth but for this place I will make an exception. Three of us each selected a couple of items and shared them afterwards. Everything we tasted was simply outstanding. Tried: Lemon Square Butter Bar Apple Crumb Bar Hummingbird Cake Carrot Cake Pecan Pie Bar Pineapple Cake and...the namesake Deutsche Apple Pecan Cake. This one takes the...um...CAKE! It's amazing. There are fancy pies, turnovers, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, breads, savory items...everything. I don't give 5 stars lightly for any business so (for me) this bakery is one of the best I've ever been to in the US.
google avatar

Jerry B.

Yelp
This place is truly exceptional. We had the hand pie, apple pecan muffin, sausage wrap, bear claw and a butter bar! All were excellent. Do yourself a favor and and get the butter bar!
google avatar

Yelp

Yelp
Great Hill Country Hospitality! Wonderful ambience: the sights, sounds, bouquets of different freshly baked goods! Heaven on the scenic route between Dripping Springs and Bourne, TX!
google avatar

Sherri H.

Yelp
Wowser!! I know "Apple" is in their company name, but seriously, that cherry streusel pie is SO GOOD!! We even heated it up in our oven right before serving and it tasted like it was fresh baked in our own kitchen! We couldn't wait to dig in and I forgot to snap a pic until there was one piece left. And that's only because we saved a piece for someone arriving later. It was so delicious, we made a point to go back the next day and bought an apple pie. We also heated the apple pie in the oven before serving and the aroma is like none other. However, there were a few areas that the pastry didn't seem quite cooked through, so we didn't enjoy it as much as that cherry streusel pie.

Dave R.

Yelp
The best apple cake you will ever have! The apple pie is wonderful too! You will not regret taking a drive there just to get a cake or pie.
google avatar

Maura C.

Yelp
Deutsch apple is amazing! I got there right when it opened and there were people lining up! They have delicious pastries! The blueberry muffin is (chefs kiss).

Robert G.

Yelp
The best apple pie ever. Friendly service, just a great little place in the country. Just take a cool drive to Blanco Tx.

Yelp
My family and I have passed by this bakery dozens of times when traveling to Austin and have always wanted to stop and try but it's always closed when we drive by. FINALLY we drove past when it was open. We stopped in and grabbed what we could since they were selling out. Everything, every single thing was amazing! The molasses cookie is what we were all going crazy over though. The owner told us it is a family recipe that has been handed down and it is the most amazing cookie you will ever taste! Everything was very moist, excellent flavor, tasting like what it's supposed to taste like. The service was good, very kind, and you got a little piece of history about them while you're there. We will definitely try to make it back more often when they are open. Oh, and we got the muffin half off because it was from the day before. Lovely perk!! It's not exactly in the city but definitely worth the drive through 281 into the hill country.

Yelp
We were driving from Lake Travis to San Antonio and just happened upon this bakery. Wow! We bought apple muffins, blueberry muffin, sugar cookie and a peanut butter cookie. All were so good! We snacked on them for a few days! I would highly recommend this place because the taste is quality and it's such a cute little place. I bought a guacamole bowl I found there it says "It's five O'Guac somewhere and the spoon says "holy guacamole". I make guacamole alot and can never find a good bowl where you can get your chip down in it. This is perfect and so pretty. Love it! If you are anywhere near this place, you should go!! I wish I had one of those peanut butter cookies right now!

Yelp
Been driving by here for many years, finally stopped to check The Deutsch Apple out. We had just had a huge breakfast at a nearby spot; decided we needed some sweets for later on in the day instead of another big meal. Friendly staff; enjoyed the suggestions Digs are quaint with a small dining area, coffee station, non food retail, and the main counter with chef's case. Lots to choose from! We ended up with a three bars; butter, lemon and apple crumble. For good measure, might as well have a tiny cherry pie too. Everything was delicious! I was especially fond of the butter bar and barely got two bites with a teenager in the house. This could start a new Blanco breakfast tradition. Crab cake benedict with home fries down the road and desserts here on the way back to Driftwood. WIN WIN

Yelp
Great local bakery. Apple cakes taste like mom made them. Everything I had made me want to make a return trip.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
This bakery makes the best apple muffins. They taste just as good as my mom's fresh from scratch apple cake. I bought them just out of their oven. SO good. The people are very friendly and know how to bake!

Yelp
100000% please come thru over here on your way to Fredericksburg. They have scones, kolaches, apple pies, cookies, lemon bars - all the bakery goods. This shop on the outside looks like a broken down shack, but when you enter, you'll be impressed by the variety of savory and sweet treats that they offer. I'd like to give a shout-out to the person baking the scones over here - especially the jalapeno bacon scone - absolutely delicious!!! This place might have the best scones I've ever had. They take homemade baking on the next level. Even their kolaches are so good. All I have to say is if you want amazing baked goods, come support this shop.
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
It just occurred to me that I don't have any photos of food from here because I always eat it immediately. I have been coming here for 20+ years and even though the ownership of this bakery has changed hands, it's still amazing. This is worth a detour on any road trip. Get any of their bars or pies or strudels. My favorite is the apple strudel but I don't think I've ever had anything here I didn't love.

Yelp
We were so sad to see Bean and Biscuit close; it was the one place I could get gluten-free baked goods in Blanco. Sigh. So, we went down the road (about a half mile) to the Deutsch Apple, hoping to at least get a cappuccino. They do serve espresso drinks, but be aware that they may not have alternative milk. So, no coffee for me. Sigh. The lady at the counter said they are known for their Apple Cake, but frankly, I make a REALLY GOOD apple cake, so, even though I'm gluten intolerant, I was greedily scanning their display case for something super yummy. No, not for me; for the granddaughter. I settled on an Apple Cream Danish, and hubby got an amazing looking Blueberry Custard Danish. Good Lawd, y'all!!!! Well, hubby's danish disappeared before the granddaughter wgot home from school, and she devoured her danish like she might not make it to tomorrow. So, if you're not gluten intolerant, please go by and support these people. They are doing gluten right.

Yelp
I was looking for a place in Blanco where they served coffee at 9am and this placed popped up. It's a cute little bakery with amazing treats. My son had a carrot cake and i enjoyed the apple pie with my coffee. I'll definitely be coming back for the entire pie next time I have a gathering at home. Thank you Deutsch Apple Bakery

Rebecca T.

Yelp
Husband and I stop in frequently, so I thought I should update my review. The Deutsch Apple is still a wonderful bakery. We got lemon squares, blueberry muffins and apple muffins. All of these are wonderful and super tasty. Staff is always very friendly and polite. We'll stop in again soon!

Sam M.

Yelp
Amazing Bakery. By chance, drove by this small town bakery on our vacation through the Hill Country of Texas. Pulled in just to take a look and WOW, it will now be a planned stop when we are in the area. Worth going out of your way for this experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The baked goods were exceptional. You must try the Apple cake, Carrot cake, Jalapeño scone, Lemon cookie, just to name a few. All choices are good According to my husband all the goodies were YUMMY, (Sean Connery impersonation included).

Sam L.

Yelp
Best pastries ever! If you're ever in the area and they are open- it's a must you stop by and get something! Service and people are great. Nice little quaint bakery stop. I never miss my opportunity to pick something up!
google avatar

Lindsey V.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. The aroma alone, when walking into the cafe, will make you start to salivate. The pies are tasty, not too sweet, with a light and flaky decorative crust. Will definitely come back for more. So glad we turned around to check it out. We ended up eating both mini pies in our car before we even left the parking lot.

Roger P.

Yelp
Pie crust soggy and too many spices. What happened to the good old plain apple pie with firm slices and a firm crust? Also very expensive and then you are hit with that terrible tip screen. Just about money not quality avoid this place!
google avatar

Mallibi M.

Yelp
Butter Cake was WOW! So fresh and so flavorful I am glad we stopped as soon as we saw the store on our way to San Antonio ! I'll be back
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
If sweet pastries and pies are your thing, this is your place. Even the small kolaches have a sweet glaze. Cinnamon rolls are big and covered with pecans - just fantastic. Fresh our of the oven banana nut muffins. Mmm, mmm. I couldn't try everything, but the apple pies looked wonderful- piled high with apples and a crumb topping. Did I day mmmm, mmmm? Five stars- definitely the place to get your pie and pastry fix.
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
Great service and amazing pecan pie. We live in houston and drove all the way to blanco from Fredericksburg on the way back. Everyone must try the pecan pie.

Haven G.

Yelp

Yelp
My favorite is their apple crumb cake. But I haven't had anything from here that wasn't delicious. We are so glad they are close to us here in Blanco. We are regular customers!

Yelp
Delicious, fresh & friendly! Super cute with amazing baked goods, delicious coffee and super helpful and friendly staff. We go out of our way to make sure we get a treat any time we are near the area. Love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped by to pick up some breakfast items for our group before we head out to the river. It's a cozy, quaint little shop that makes fresh baked good daily. It smelled so good and was quite overwhelming with the amount of items they had available. We tried a little of everything from their muffins, bear claw, & dessert bars. Everything was amazing besides their bear claws (dry and flaky). The apple cinnamon muffins might be the best muffin I've ever had. And the dessert bars were fantastic as well! Everyone loved it all and is definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Connie G.

Yelp
Oh my oh my that Apple and Blackberry pie! Stopped here for a little quick sweet treat and the best pie I've had in forever! Not overly sweet cooked just right. Tasted natural and fresh for your delight. The women in there were kind and friendly. Plenty of parking and grab yours even if in a hurry! Warm them up once your home with your favorite scoop of ice cream too!
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
Everything they bake is amazing. I would give 5 stars, but their hours are so inconvenient. Every time I go by, they're closed. By the time I get off work every day at 3, they're already closed. They're also closed part of the weekend through Tuesday.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
Oh. My. Lanta. I was on my way home from Austin when at a stop sign I look to my left and see this place. I read the sign "fresh apple pie" and whipped my car into the parking lot so fast. As I walked inside, I was PLEASANTLY surprised to see soooo many types of yummy sweets. I got a cherry bar, a coconut bar, and an apple turn over. It's now 12 hours since I got it and I finally got to try the coconut bar. YALL this thing brought tears to my eyes. I AM NOT PREGNANT!! THIS THING WAS JUST SO GOOD. Never in my life have I tasted something so amazing. Can't believe it took me so ling to find this little GEM. I will be back and haven't even tried the others yet.
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
OMGosh! Everything thing there is so fresh and delicious. The young ladies behind the case are very efficient, knowledgeable and so courteous. Prices are average. Love this place!

Sam M.

Yelp
My wife and I were in the Blanco area for Lavender Festival and we found the Deutsche Apple Bakery, WOW...just WOW!! The edible art that this place puts in their showcase is nothing short of magic! It was hard to decide what to buy. Their wares are beautiful, very reasonably priced and tasty! The service is among the friendliest I've encountered anywhere! The place is quaint and cozy, the complete package!
google avatar

April F.

Yelp
The best Apple muffin I have ever eaten. It was loaded with apples and had a sugary, delicious Carmel on top. The staff was helpful and super friendly.

Nicole K.

Yelp
Delicious high-quality pastries and a cozy atmosphere. The folks behind the counter are always friendly and welcoming. I only wish they would expand their hours!

Lisa J.

Yelp
Lucky for me the top two places listed as places to eat in Blanco aren't open for breakfast and a quick search brought me to the Deutsch Apple Bakery. Best hand pie I've ever had and I'm a baker myself. Fresh made that day and absolutely delicious. I also picked up a scone and coffee and they were fabulous. I swung by later in the day to pick up something for the next day but, alas, they were closed for the day. I will definitely stop by again next time I'm in town. The employees were also very nice and friendly and there is indoor and outdoor seating.
