7 Chicago Restaurant and Bar Openings to Know, November 2025 | Eater Chicago

"In Andersonville, this latest outpost replaces longtime Mediterranean restaurant Reza’s (which closed in 2023) and serves Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and more, with patio seating available. The chain also has outposts in the Gold Coast, Lakeview, the South Loop, Wicker Park, and Evanston." - Jeffy Mai

Devil Dawgs is truly a religious experience. Whether you're there for a classic Chicago hot dog or sliders, it's a great experience. Couldn't recommend enough. The Belmont location is also a great place to staff. Our food came within minutes of ordering, and we thoroughly enjoyed!

The food was really good. The hot dogs were delicious, and even though the burgers are small, they’re surprisingly filling. Big shoutout to the girl at the counter — she was super helpful. She greeted us as soon as we walked in and had a great attitude the whole time. Props to her for the excellent customer service!

The service was amazing! The atmosphere is really cool and the food was delicious. My gf and I had a coney dog, chili cheese fries, and a regular slider and a maple bacon slider. The sliders were juicy and the chili on the fries was well seasoned ! Got to try a banana strawberry malt too which was creamy and rich! Highly recommend!

Excellent juicy, tasty sliders and the fries are hot and crispy! Chicago dog is expected. I will try the malt shakes next time. DD is a neat fast casual addition to the neighborhood!

Excited as I was to try this place I was met with utter disappointment. Maybe they ALL had the Monday blues. Who knows. Any, I stepped in the front counter was full of employees. The cooks in branded tees and two other people in plain clothes. Not one greeting! Strike number one. 🙄 placed my order at the kiosk and waited. As I waited, standing near the soda machine I was met with full eye contact and yet again, no follow up of “ hi how can I help u”, “Did you place your order” etc. The one lady proceeded to wipe the counter and turn her back towards me. Nice! Strike two. And to top it all off the fries on the dawg was HARD AS HELL! Omg! Strike three! You’re out! I wont be returning! It’s not worth $8.36! 😡 #disappointedgrubber.

Stopped in with my husband last night and what a fun and great new space in Andersonville. Service was friendly and helpful. It was our first time visiting a Devil Dawgs. We were surprised the menu includes vegan hotdogs, Italian beef sandwiches, chicken and burgers. The hand cut fries and our hotdog were delicious. Have to go back and try there milkshakes and onion rings and chicken. Everything was sparkling, clean too! Their back room would be a fun place to host a party! Great family place! Give it a try.

Absolutely the best vegan Chicago dog in the city, hands down! 10/10, no notes! Perfectly grilled, amazingly fresh ingredients, and a superbly fun environment to dine at. Delightful murals and awesome signage. Bring everyone you know here, it's worth it!

I ate a good meal here. I ate two different sliders, one Chicago dog, and one milkshake. The sliders were so tasty. The Chicago dog is the same as everywhere. The milkshake was good but too expensive for me for another one. Definitely going to get the sliders again.

Yelp
This review is for an take-out order so I am going to start with the bad, which is not on Devil Dawgs, but something to considered. Me and The Doctor were feeling peckish and I did not want to cook or eat Mexican again (although I loves me some Mexican and can literally eat it every day) so we decided on burgers. I knew Devil Dawgs had opened in the space where the old Reza use to be. We decided to order through Yelp for take out because I was not going out in that crazy wind and cold on that particular day. The Doctor got the 5 Pc Strips w/Fries, and I got the Backyard Slider, Chicago Dog, Bag "O" Fries, and and Espresso shake. The Backyard Slider was good but I made the mistake of doing a double patty when a single was enough based on the size of the burger. Other than that, the burger was quite tasty. The hot dog was of course just as good as the original location and the fries were good. The Doctor said that there were six strips of chicken instead of five, so no complaints on his end. He said the strips were nicely fried and had a good flavor. The only problem with the order was that the delivery person did not follow the directions as I had stated I wanted the food dropped off to me. I was given a delivery time of 45 mins, but the food got here quicker than that, but there was no call, simply a text that I saw 7 mins after the fact. So the delivery person just left the food on the sideway by our front door. Fortunately I got downstairs to get it before someone walked off with it. The food was lukewarm, but a quick trip to the microwave fixed it. Surprisingly the quality of the food was not compromised. I am a big tipper as a rule, but not a fan of pre-tipping when it is a bad experience. The next time I order take out, I will not be leaving a tip, I will provide cash on delivery. I would like to do a dine-in experience to see what they did with the space, based on the reviews and some of the photos I have seen on Yelp. I am very happy to have a location closer to me.

Yelp
Stopped by the new location in Andersonville. I was excited to try it out because I've wanted to go their other locations for a while now. You'll order at the kiosk when you enter, but I believe you can order at the counter as well. They'll call your name when your order is ready. I ordered the single Chicago dog. The kiosk menu has the Big Chicago Dog at the top, but if you scroll further down, you'll be able to find the single which is smaller and cheaper. I really enjoyed the dog because it was packed with fresh ingredients and overall tasty. I believe we also got an order of Cajun fries. I think they were Cajun because there was a little kick to it. They came out hot and seemed freshly made. It was a good size to share with 2-3 people. I didn't realize they had chicken and burgers here until after I sat down. I'll have to try for the next visit!

Yelp
I've been waiting for this place to open for a long time. I went in to place my order at the kiosk which was simple and easy and allows you to really customize your order. As I waited for my food to be prepared, the place is a feast for the eyes from beautiful murals to funky seating to great chandeliers. My favorite spot is what I call the Gundam VIP area is off to the side and sort of private. As you wait for your order in the back dining room, there is a screen to let you know when your food is ready. I tried the Chicago style hot dog and the Maxwell St. Polish with a bag of a fresh cut fries. The Chicago style hot dog had a natural casing with a very delicate snack and it was delicious with all of the classic ingredients. The Maxwell St. Polish was my favorite. The juiciness of the sausage and the sweetness of the grilled onions, really pushed it over to the top for me. I also picked up an order for one of my coworkers, knowing that he had to pay the cheese curd tax if I bought his order back. The cheese curds were great with a light breading. I really enjoyed the service, the food and the dining area. Reminder this place is cashless.

Yelp
Fantastic food, I had the single slider, cheddar dog, and an order of fries. Everything was hot and fresh. Friendly people behind the counter providing fast service. Ambiance was AC/DC on the sound system and lots neon and bright colors. Definitely 5 stars and I will be back again. Welcome to Andersonville, Devil Dawgs! We definitely want you here. Added bonus, their ranch is definitely made in store.

Yelp
The food was very good and quickly done. Large space. Had a hot dog with fries. Was not disappointed.

Yelp
very disappointed the hot dog bun was not fresh and the french fries were not good seems they were sitting around for a long time.
