Devil Dawgs Wicker Park

Me partner and I were in chicago and I made it known that I really want to have a Chicago style hot dog while we were there. He googled some options and this location was close to us. Hands down the best Chicago style hot dog I have ever had. My partner got the chili dog and we shared a shake. We already know the next time we are in chicago, we will be coming back and I can't recommend this place enough. Good prices and good food. We walked to a near by park to eat and it was just such an overall great experience.

Big fan of this place. They have a wide variety of flavors. We were hungry mid-shopping spree and this hit the spot.

I have mixed feelings. The food was solid but nothing over the top great. We ate there and their soda machine was broken except for one option and even that stopped working by the time the 3rd person in our group went to fill their cup up. I guess if you do go there, purchase a bottled drink to avoid the frustration. My group did enjoy their hotdogs and I thought the chicken tenders were 8/10. They do have both booths and chair tables so that was nice.

Solidly good chicago style hot dogs. Nice interior with some limited seating and pretty fast service. Menu has everything you'd expect along with their own signature hot dog meat blend. I think my only big complaint is the hot dog does not come with just a few fries wrapped up with it. I feel like that's a key piece of the chicago dog and it feels weird not to have any.

Had the vegan chicago style hotdog and a fry. The vegan hotdog tasted amazing and the french fries were delicious as well. The employee that helped me out was a very nice and helpful person. Definitely will be returning to enjoy the chicago style hotdog!

I eat hot dogs all over the world and I have been wanting to come here after I saw Tik Tok about it. This place did not disappoint. The Islandic Dawg is one of the best hot dogs I ever had. Definitely returning to try the Elvis Slider next time I'm in Chicago.

Funky little Chicago hot dog spot. Out of all the dogs we had in Chicago these were definitely top 3! We enjoyed the loaded DD and was totally satisfied and the side of fries hit! Keep in mind, no cash transactions!

Sliders where nothing special, just ok, bacon cheddar dawg was terrible! Regular bun, the wiener was a cheap and then full of cheese sauce, good if you are looking for a cholesterol fill. Fries were good and plentiful however not enough for me to come back and wouldn’t recommend the place.

One of my favorite places to grab hot dogs while I'm in Chicago! Hot dogs are always perfect and loaded with toppings! The Chicago Dog is a classic with fresh ingredients. The Icelandic Dawg is a nice alternative since I love the crispy shallots paired with the honey mustard sauce. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of seating at this location.

Damn, these dogs are good! So, I will say I am somebody who had eaten at Milwaukee based Martino's for a long time in my youth, I would say that this totally makes sense that this place would have so much amazing food and basically be like a Martinos on steroids because of course it is, I'm eating the food in the place where it's originating from good ole Chicago!!!!!! The dogs were cooked perfectly, the toppings were vast and you could get a classic Chicago, but they had a lot of variety. The crunchiness of those crispy onions on my hotdog were really good. Splitting the giant bucket of fries with the "good" cheese sauce (if you know you know some cheese sauce can be weird and waxy), simplistic and perfection. When you're ready for some fast but delicious chow, head here. I honestly thought about it a LOT even though I went to a very fancy up scale restaurant during my time visiting Chicago as well.

I ordered the maxwell st polish, Chicago dog, and tots. No complaints! Sausages were juicy and had the classic snap. Buns were steamed and soft. I love the slow cooked onions. Tots were seasoned, crispy, and fluffy. No issues with service. Decent amount of seating inside and outside.

Walked here and it was pretty cool inside. They have kiosk you can order and there are a lot of variety of hot dogs or sandwiches and even a vegan option as well. We got the spicy chicken sandwich which was about spicy at all but the Chicago style hot dog was good. Their onion rings were really crispy and comes in a big size. They have cool stuff hanging on the walls and a nice neighborhood to walk around as well.

Cheap, fast (with online ordering available), and conveniently located. What else can you ask for? It's a fast food spot, so adjust your expectations, but if you crave a Chicago dog (and who doesn't every once in awhile?), this is a good spot to fill your fix. The dog is fresh, piled high with all the goods, and it tastes delicious. I find their fries to be too soggy and don't love the onion rings, but the chicken tenders are very good, too. Really, though, they have dawgs in the name, I would just stick to hot dogs in the future. Bonus points for the sweet neon sign.

My partner and I were visiting Chicago and would've been remiss to not try out the local delicacy of a classic chigagan red hot hotdog. We ended up going with Devil Dawgs since we were staying in Wicker Park, and we loved it so much, we had it twice during our trip! We loved EVERYTHING we tried over the weekend, which included a classic Chicago double dog, a chili cheese dog, a Maxwell Street special (a Polish sausage, like a kielbasa), the Elvis burger (PB bacon hot sauce), and onion rings. All were the perfect late night dinner option! We also tried a hot dog elsewhere and this was still much better. Service was incredibly quick (both with dining in as well as picking up to go) and the wicker Park location had such a fun vibe - with many retro memorabilia items as well as space for dinning in. We will definitely be back next time in Chicago!

Great location in Wicker Park (next to Taco Bell and adjacent to Supreme), busy intersection but in the middle of all the action. There is not a million styles of burgers toppings to choose but they have the essentials. I got the single with plain jane toppings and a chili dog with no cheese. The entire meal was a tad bit over $10 but the flavors were solid. These burgers are not too wide but stacked with flavors. The interior is rustic but makes you feel like you are in a barn. Parking is metered and residential is all permit. Payment is cashless but plastic is excepted with no service charge added.

Amazing dawgs. Must have this. Cheap too. I'll be back again no doubt. I'd recommend the Big Chicago

Omg I love this location! The staff is great and the food is always piping hot! I got the chilli cheese dog and omg it was great! Would recommend 2-3 dogs if you're really hungry since they're pretty normal in size. The ambiance is so comfortable! Very diner vibes!

Can't leave Chicago without trying one. We ordered online for pickup. Quick and organized service. I got the Big Chicago Dawg. Beef hot dog with mustard, onion, relish, sport peppers, pickle , tomato and celery salt. Juicy & big hot dog with generous amount of toppings. Delicious and perfect to bring on your flight.

Great spot to get a hot dog. I shared the Chicago dog and taco dog with my partner. The Chicago dog has all the standard toppings: celery salt, mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, sports peppers. Good structure integrity as it stands up on its own.The taco dog was really good too, it's a chili cheese dog with tortilla strips and pico de gallo. There's plenty of seating and water cups are free. Food comes out reasonably fast. The bag of fries was a pretty decent portion for the price.

First time In Chicago , Wanted to try Chicago style . The hot dogs was tasty but I felt like I had better hot dogs .

While in Chicago I obviously had to try a Chicago style dog so we stopped at Devil Dawgs before heading out of town. I got the Chicago style dog and fries. The price point was average. The fries were good but nothing special. The hotdog was pretty good - I got everything on it but sport peppers due to an allergy. Although the taste is a little different I did enjoy it. There wasn't anything bad about Devil Dawgs but there wasn't anything special. If I came back to Chicago I would probably try a Chicago style dog somewhere else to compare.

If you want a classic Chicago dog, this is the place. Freaking love it would come back again.

We got here kinda late so they were starting to prep to close but the staff were nice and took our order but you could tell they wanted us to be quick. The entire place is covered in graffiti but it fits with the restaurant name and menu theme. I had the taco dog and it was pretty good. It came out hot and had a unique combination of toppings which I enjoyed. As far as flavor, I thought the hotdog itself was generic and the toppings were mediocre but the uniqueness made it enjoyable. We also had the bacon cheddar dog which was pretty good. The cheese was hot and melty and the bacon was crisp. My favorite part was the "whiskey battered onion rings" I found these to be a good twist on the traditional beer batter and the whiskey imparted a subtle but pleasant addition that I enjoyed. All in all, I thought the food was good but the hot dogs were not anything mind blowing. The service was ok but was definitely influenced by our late arrival.

I stopped in Devil Dawgs for a quick bite while out walking and exploring Wicker Park. I selected the chili cheese dog, and it was very good. Everyone working there was friendly and nice. Great spot for a lunch if you're crunched for time or need to eat on the go.

i got the it's not a hot dog and it was phenomenal! i would definitely go back and get that again. i got a vanilla bean shake and that was also so amazing. i like that the menu has pictures. it was pretty fast service as well! i would recommend to anyone in the area for a hot dog or shake, the fries weren't salty enough but they have potential.

I have been coming here for quite some time as their hotdogs are pretty consistent and I like them. They are a small place and move quite quickly with service so definitely be ready to order or look at the menu ahead of time. I usually get either the Chicago dog without hot peppers (bc im not too good with spice) or the chili dog which are both amazing and satisfying in different ways. I would 100% recommend this place!

Another location of this place for hot dogs. Devil Dawgs has a few locations and this is the West Town one. It has a lot going on around here and it's full of commuters and tourists. Even if you don't want hot dogs you can still get something else. There's hamburgers, and they have a few vegan friendly styles. I got a vegan hot dog to go. It was lunch and it was pretty busy, so there was no room to dine inside. The menu is mostly hot dogs unsurprisingly. Many styles to choose from. There's of course the famous Chicago style, and many other kinds that are similar. It also has the choice to replace a hot dog sausage with a vegan one. This is good for avoiding all that nasty stuff they put into these. I had a Chi-Talian. It's about $6.50 for most hot dogs. That's kind of a lot. It at least is kind of big. There's also lots of good toppings. It's a variation of the Chicago style with a few important changes. This has cheddar, giardinera, mustard, and onions. It's vegan without any cheese. This is one of the more popular styles. Check out this location for a hot dog before going anywhere else. It has a couple other locations. The seating is pretty limited so most people get takeout.

Excellent Food! Extremely tasteful and great portions. The services was very well too. Very fast and helpful. The ambiance is good. Feels very cool, however, later In the evening things are being put away while it's still open. Overall it's a good place for a night out with friends or eating after coming from somewhere fun. I will say, the prices are a bit high for some items. A bag of fries with cheese is about $4.75 but for the portion it is a good deal. Meanwhile a plain, simple hot dog is $4.00. I don't see why a hot dog would be $4 when it taste exactly the same as any other hot dog.

Pretty solid place. A bit expensive, but isn't everything nowadays? My husband and I ordered two dogs each, 2 fries and a shake (all very, very good by the way) and it was around $40. Still a cool place and definitely that "Portillo's quality" goodness when in the neighborhood. Service was fast and the decor was fun. LOVED the music too. Was surprised they were playing Madonna's new album - a mix of old hits and remixes.

Me and my girls stopped by before the Billie Eilish concert. I must say, i got the chicago dog and it was delicious and i felt satisfied after. We also got the vanilla bean milkshake and DAMN!! yum! yum! yum! Very good. Although... the fries were pretty mediocre could've definitely been seasoned better maybe some more salt or anything.

chicken was aggressively mediocre in flavor, and look at the size of these strips... the service was good and the ranch was solid, but paying $11 for this + a sauce cup of coleslaw was a huge rip off given the lack of flavor. if i were to come here again... i wouldn't.

First time trying their dogs and I gotta say not too shabby!! I ordered two of the Chicago dogs and I should have ordered 2 more!! The dog comes with mustard, pickle, tomato slices onions and sweet relish!! It works TRUST ME!!! Get you one or two Awh heck better make it 4, just to be safe ;)

First time here. Sliders were not good. Service was gruff and unfriendly. The whole place smelled like body odor.There was a kid working the register and eating/ talking w/ food in his mouth.

Good, cheap hot dogs, cool vibe, and fast service...but also unfriendly service? We asked for water cups as we were handed our food, and the guy scoffed, turned, slapped the counter, got our water cups, slammed them down on the counter, and turned around without saying a word. Two other people there and nobody said a thing. Just not the kind of service you want everywhere. Makes it feel like a hostile situation and like they don't want you to even be there.

I bring anyone who visits me in Chicago here to get a taste of a Chicago dog. It beats Portillo's any day. The big dogs are a little pricier, but a hundred percent worth it. If you're hesitating and think you're not hungry enough, stop thinking and just get it, you'll love it.

This is my go-to spot for late night food. I usually get the Chicago style dog, a single cheese slider, and a bag of fries with a side of cheese sauce. It's hard to hate a classic dawg with everything on it, down to the sliced tomatoes, pickle, hot peppers and celery salt. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered this combo of comfort food. Their staff is always really nice. I call-in an order and then usually pick it up 20 minutes later. If you want more beef patties on your burger, you can get a double ($4) or a triple ($5). These aren't your little White Castle-sized sliders; I eat the single ($3) like it's own hefty burger. I've also had their "Clucker" fried chicken sandwich which was also delicious. They have a variety of different hotdogs and I probably won't be tasting them all because I've found my favorite items, but if you ever want a southern slaw dog, taco dog, or hot green chile cheddar dog, you'll find it here. The "Devil Dawgs" have their own section on the menu and are made with 1/4 pound of sausage. Items range from from "Seoul Dawg" to the "Wicker Dawg." I confess I haven't tried those, but they exist for the adventurous. Come here to find old-fashioned milk shakes, hand-cut fries, and unbelievably delicious hot dogs. Devil Dawgs came into existence in 2010 in Lincoln Park and served a lot do the Depaul campus. Since then, they've expanded to South Loop and luckily for me, to Wicker Park. I'll be back again and again.

Popeyes chicken sandwich is better. The Clucker used to be the best chicken sandwich in the city. Now, it is a thin, dry, shadow of its former incarnation. Also, it was $6.50 before the pandemic. Today, it is $9.75. Do better, Devil Dawgs.

Good food, with some creative takes on the usual Chicago style dog. Totally on the level. I had a Blue Demons Dawg, a classic Chicago dog and a cheddar cheese dogs, and all three were very good. They have their own sauce that's difficult to describe. I think they're going for it to taste spicy but not overpowering. I liked it. Cool vibe, with big tables and good music. The guy at the counter taking orders was kind of an impatient jerk, but I was clearly a nube and didn't know what to order, so it took me a few seconds to get my stuff together, and he didn't seem to want to be very patient. Fairly inexpensive as well, for what you're getting. My three dogs and the drink were right at $20. So with the quality of the food and the wide variety of stuff on the menu to try, this place is definitely worth stopping into.

Cool spot for solid Chicago staples like dogs and polishes. Milkshakes are also on point. Fast friendly service. Parking is difficult but worth a little effort.

As a veg, this place is awesome. So many different options and toppings. Particular to the elotes-style dog and the New York Street Style. And the shakes are the bomb.

Hotdog was unimpressive, but how can you screw up a hotdog.. No poppy seed bun which was ok. The fries were absolutely terrible. Very nice staff though.

Showed up to the location in wicker park. It was 6:41pm and the door was locked. A brown bag with handwritten "Store closed until 6:30pm" on it made things clear. Except that I'm seeing employees inside working and the store isn't open. So the guy waves to me saying "7pm" ok. I wait. Hang out. I want Devil Dawgs. 7:03pm I'm back and the same guy is there but is ignoring me at the door. I've known and liked this place for a long time. And the high prices have made it a special occasion for me, but now it's not worth it. I can live without devil dawgs and everything to do with it. This just ticked me off the wrong way. Not worth! Go to a different food spot! Much cheaper for better service

We came for take-out during the Friend of the Devil pop-up. I've had their original chicken sandwich at Roister previously, which I enjoyed. We ordered the regular chicken sandwich, the spicy chicken sandwich, fries and the bbq corn. The chicken sandwiches were good and I'm sure they would have been crunchier if we were able to eat them immediately. Unfortunately, the fries were soggy by the time we got home. I thought the bbq corn had a bit too much spice for my liking. Overall, the food was fine. It probably would have tasted much better if we were able to eat it right after it was freshly made. Damn you, COVID!

I should have known this place was gonna be bad. It has the Devil on it. I thought it would be good, because brick and mortars are expensive. I expected better quality than a stand on the street. The stand on the street I'm used to is Best Wurst in Austin, so maybe that sets the bar pretty high. The skin on the dog was too thick. The cheese was fake. I just didn't like it, and felt it didn't represent Chicago dogs. It actually killed my appetite for any kind of hot dog for awhile, so I never got a real Chicago hot dog. Contemplate the tragedy of my opportunity cost, and skip Devil Dawgs.

Craving for fries? Stop in here for a bucket of fries. The fries are nice and crispy and taste a bit like hot dog (probably fried in the same oil). But will certainly satisfy the need for fries.

Greasy, messy, drunk food. Came in one day of lunch as wanted something quick. Got the Good Morning Slider and the BBQ Bacon slider, with a small fry. Burgers were greasy and messy and the fries were slightly under cooked. I think if I were hungover might have enjoyed it a little more. They have a fun atmosphere inside and the prices are great, that can't be denied.

Had a quick trip to the Windy and almost left WITHOUT 'doing the dog'. What a cataclysmic mistake that would've been. With the clock ticking on our flight from Midway, I prayed to the prince-of- darkness-franks, that we would miraculously receive our Devil Dogs quickly. Beyond impressed with the variety of wicked wieners Double D offered, I ordered three hellish options: Southern slaw dog (for my sinful Southern Bell) Coney Cheese Dog and old fashioned Chicago style. All three were ghoulishly wrapped in poppy seed buns and generously littered with copious toppings. My lovely temptress fiancé commented that her slaw dog was the best wiener she ever sank her fangs into. The other two dogs made me want to go to Hades and back!! Why in hell didn't I give DD 5 Stars you ask? The Fries...Dark fries usually mean old oil... Though not terrible, I had to deduct a star for this one. Even though there are a million heavenly choices for excellent frankfurters in this city, I recommend you try this fire and brimstone hole in the wall called Devil Dogs and the best part is that you won't have to sell your soul just to pay for lunch.

My orders were delivered by Uber Eats, as there was a deal, so this review is solely of the food and not the service or ambience. The location we ordered from was 1.6 miles away. The Chicago Dogs arrived alright and were wrapped properly and tasted just fine. Unfortunately, the fries arrived as a soggy mess but were revived by broiling them. I blame this on the fact that I ordered delivery fries so the second time we ordered tots and onion rings but they also arrived soggy even though the top of the bag was left open. The sliders were an unmitigated disaster and 100% inedible as a sandwich. Unlike Joey Chestnut, I do not prefer buns soaked in water and crumbling like wet single ply. We immediately asked for a refund. The only part of the slider that we even attempted to eat was the beef. Considering that we ordered the condiments on the side, we still find it inexplicable that the sliders arrived in this manner. Needless to say, if we were ever to order from Devil Dogs again, which we won't, it would only be on a deal for hot dogs or maybe a sausage.

Got the Chicago devil dawg, was disappointed. Super poorly constructed. The bun was soggy, and not even a poppy seed one. The mustard was so unevenly distributed. The only good part was the meat itself, but you can get the same Vienna beef hotdogs anywhere in Chicago. Just go to Portillo's.
