DevilCraft Kanda was a treat. I originally thought I was only coming for Chicago style deep dish pizza, but I was wrong. All the craft brews are fantastic. They also sell their glassware if you're looking for a souvenir to remember your visit by. I'll be on the lookout for additional DevilCraft sites in my future visits to Japan.

This place is heaven on earth if you like craft beers and deep dish pizza. Officially my favorite place in Tokyo. The pizza is delicious and they have a huge variety of homebrewed craft beers. Their stouts are great, their barrel-aged barley wine is DIVINE. Only caveat: it’s a pretty small restaurant so they fill up quickly and it’s not really meant for families or large groups, although they do offer group plans. Try to reserve ahead of time if you can.

Google
The best!!! I can't get this good Chicago pizza on the west coast of the USA. This is now my most favorite place to eat in Kanda!!! Edit: Came back 3 months later, still amazing!

Google
Chicago style pizza. The deluxe is a bit expensive, but is worth the price as the extras make the pizzas look more appetizing! Taste is fantastic. The beer selection may want to be a more diversified, especially for stouts, but those are really good beers.

This is a great place to come when you want pizza but not the usual fare. They have pan pizzas, but you come here for the deep dish. We’ve been several times and I was surprised to see I hadn’t reviewed it earlier. They have a nice range of starters and bar bites, a good selection pizzas available in two sizes, and a very large selection of craft beers. Service is helpful and friendly. There are several outlets around Tokyo, so if you don’t happen to be in Kanda, you can check out one of the others. Reservations are recommended though it is possible to do a walk-in if you time it right.

We came for dinner as a group of 5 with a reservation. Got a table upstairs which were really steep and would not recommend for someone older and not so steady on their feet. Service itself was pretty good but it was hard to get attention tucked away in a corner. The table was a good size though and everything was clean and non-greasy. I liked how well-lit it was. The food was pretty good. It was the first time I had a deep dish pizza and it's nice to know where I can get it in Tokyo. Not sure about the authenticity but it's great if you like the toppings more than the pizza base. We also got the buffalo wings which came with a generous amount of sauce. It's pretty expensive for pizza but basically inline with restaurant prices for the area. Apparently the beer was really good too.

Google
Nice small craft beer and pizza establishment, within easy walking distance of Kanda. Service was good and I was able to personalise my pizza with no issue. Mainly foreign craft beers and a decent selection, especially for a small place. The downstairs can feel a little cramped when a few people come in, but that’s only a minor point.

Google
The food is quite expensive, but it is substantial, and sometimes very good. Have only had a few things on the menu, but the beer is generally very good. Interesting selection of IPAs, lagers and more. Staff are always accommodating. Just always hard to find somewhere to sit and the venue is very tight quarters.

Yelp
Overall Rating: 4/5 stars. ---------------------------- Details Value: (3/5) Menu/selection: (4/5) Quality: (4/5) Service/staff: (5/5) Ambiance: (4/5) This review is based on a visit to the Kanda branch of Devil Craft Brewery. The best Chicago style deep-dish pizza in Tokyo can be had at any of the Devil Craft Breweries. I went the other night for some pizza, wings and beers at their Kanda location. We ordered a Deviluxe (double filling) Devil's Work pizza. It's a thick pizza piled with pepperoni, salami, Devilcraft's own house Italian sausage, mushroom, red onion, green pepper, spinach, fresh tomato, black olives, and stuffed green olives. Great food, beer and awesome atmosphere, no surprise that it's a long time favorite among Tokyoites. We also ordered some Buffalo wings and some onion rings. All the food here is tasty and scratches that itch for a taste of home. Yelp
I ordered a small veggie pizza and (over the evening) five different beers. The pizza was a Chicago style deep dish and very good. For the beers I had the English mild (malty and mild flavored), American Pale, west coast IPA, double IPA and Imperial Russian Stout. All were good to excellent. Sat at the bar and struck up conversations with a nice gentleman who was picking up pizza for his wife and a crowd of employees having a good time out. Good atmosphere, good beer and good food. What more could you want?

Yelp
Best craft beer bar I visited in Tokyo. Went with Luis and he agreed. We ordered 2 small size deep dish pizzas also and both of us agreed that the pizza was pretty solid too. Their best beer is the Arch Devil which is amazing! I think one of the best stouts I've ever had. They told me they won some beer competition in the US(!) with this beer. Totally believable. This place is about 4 stories too but the best table in the whole place fits only 2. This honestly, is one of the coolest tables I have ever sat at. Why? It's located in the middle of the stairway on the way to the 2nd floor! It's totally quiet at this table compared to the rest of the place and somewhat intimate and you can watch the waiters bring up food and beer to the other floors. It's soooo cooooool! When you come here, and you're 1-2 people, absolutely ask for only this table! Luis and I loved it! They were shocked when we told them we absolutely wanted this table and not a normal table. While sitting there a waiter walked up with a carrying tray that had like 4-6 beers and I said to him, "That's for me?!" and he laughed but then paused for a second and looked back at me as if he had made a mistake and it was for me! Haha! We all laughed (including him) when he did that and he walked on up. Yeah, this place is pretty awesome.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday night and were able to get the last 2 remaining seats. This is a very small restaurant with maybe 20 seats. The beer here was great and the pizza was close to home (just less cheesy than you'd expect). The small is small - similar to a personal size pizza in the US. If you're looking for something a bit different while in Japan, give them a try - just be warned they may not have seats available.

Yelp
Devil Craft, you make me weep. I had come with such high hopes. I had read blogs and Yelp reviews and Reddit posts about how good your pizza was... Only to be so disappointed. Before starting, let me put this out there: I LOVE deep dish pizza. I will fight anyone who says NY pizza is better, because they're wrong. But I've come to realize that it's places like this that make people think NY style pizza is better. Let me start with the crust. The thing deep dish is KNOWN for! If you can't get that right, your whole pizza is going to be off. And they definitely didn't get it right. The crust was dry and bland and so tough. It was like someone got distracted and kneaded the dough for way too long. If that was their only sin, then I could still get behind Devil Craft. But it wasn't. The second most important part of a deep dish pizza, arguably the star (if not just the centerpiece) of the entire dish is the sauce. I mean, there's so much of it, it's impossible to get away with a bad one. Devil Craft's sauce tasted like the chef just opened a 88 yen grocery store can of cut tomatoes and dumped it in. It was just bland and had no flavor at all. I got a veggie pizza, and even the veggies weren't that good. How can you mess that up! They tasted like the chef forgot to put them on and hastily threw them on after the pizza had already finished cooking, because they were too hard and raw. There were a lot of vegetables, though, which was nice. Though their pizza was a huge disappointment, their waffle fries were so good! I also got a side of ranch (they charged me 100 yen for it) and the ranch was delicious. Tasted just like it does back in the States, not like any of this Japanese sweet ranch dressing nonsense. Their onion rings were only okay, but I'm more of a fan of breaded (not battered) rings. I won't be back. I'm still on the prowl for a good deep dish here, but I'm losing hope fast. If anyone has any recommendations, PLEASE message me. I'm getting pretty desperate.

Yelp
Serious Fucking Pizza! The craft beer is a plus, but the pizza, the PIZZA!!! We got the Meatzza and the sauce was like Jesus took off his saddle and gave my tongue a gentle kiss. Might have been a bit overboard on the oregano, but amazing pizza. AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!!

Yelp
My wife and I came to Tokyo, so: We don't like raw fish, so we went for deep dish. We found the spot easy and our pizza was cheesy. The beer was so good we did an IPA cheer. The price of the pizza was delightfully nice. There is seating on three stories, which added to our story. They might have made a deal with the devil, but their pizza is next level

Yelp
Great place to go for pizza and beer. Everyone was nice and the food was awesome. Definitely a quaint neighborhood bar/pizza place. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Okay, let me just clear the air on one thing right up front: the pizza at DevilCraft is Chicago style, which means a big ol' thick crust, not a flat crust. I neither know nor care how authentic it is, because it's delicious. If for some reason you only like thin crusted pizza, don't come here. Easy. Apparently some people only like one or the other style, but me, I'm a pizza junkie and love both, so please don't even try to entertain that debate with me. Now that that's out of the way... A few years back somebody told me about "the best pizza in Tokyo." Seemed a tad hyperbolic, but a bunch of us decided to give it a go anyhow. Unfortunately, there was some kind of snafu with our reservation, and since Kanda is by far the smallest of DevilCraft's three venues, we couldn't get in. Nevertheless, I was still impressed because the owner himself came out, apologized profusely, and personally walked my group around the corner to another restaurant where he asked his friend the manager to take good care of us. So good on him, under the circumstances. Fast forward a few years, and I've visited each of their locations multiple times. (Gotanda is the newest to open.) The food and beer are consistent across all three sites, so please feel free to extrapolate on that score. As I mentioned above, this venue, Kanda, is pretty small. The ground floor is bar-style seating, and there are two small stories above that. The staircase is narrow and twisting, so watch out if you have more than a couple pints and need to step out to the restroom. I'm sure they don't want you tumbling down the stairs and getting blood all over everything. As I alluded above, the Chicago-style pizza at DevilCraft is amazing. The ingredients are fresh and plentiful, and the thick crust is tasty. A slice goes a long way, but you're still going to want more unless you're one of those weird pizza snobs I mentioned at the outset. On the visit for which I'm writing this review (25 April 2017), my two friends and I had the Veggie Works and the BBQ Chicken pizza. If you're thinking those sound like weird choices, then we're on the same page. If it had just been me, I would not have gone with either of those. However, one of my friends doesn't eat pork, so this is where we wound up. That having been said, both pizzas were delicious. In particular, I was pleasantly surprised by the BBQ Chicken, which I had acquiesced to but was not that excited about. Turns out it was really good, so I guess I learned something that night. It happens. The craft beers are always great at DevilCraft. I started light with a golden lager, which was tasty and refreshing. Then I moved on to the porter, which is my favorite style, and liked it so much I had two of those. It had nice but not overpowering flavors of coffee and chocolate. I could drink it every day if my liver didn't give out first. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the heavily hopped styles, but one of my friends said the double IPA was good. My other friend spoke highly of one of the imperial stouts. Be prepared for Tokyo-style pricing. A large pizza is going to set you back in the neighborhood of ¥2,500 - ¥3,000, and a large "Meatzza" is ¥4,000. But that comes with the territory here in the Land Of the Rising Sun, so it's not unexpected. Long story short, you sure won't find bargain basement prices at DevilCraft, but this is a great place for some food and beer with your friends. I recommend it highly. *Pro tip: These pizzas can take a long time to cook. Check out their menu online and call your order in ahead of time, and life will be a lot easier.

Yelp
Out of this world good tonight. No reservations but got an opportunity to sit at the bar. St florian IPA was amazing. Buffalo chicken and BBQ chicken pizza were delish. So happy right now! And thanks for your free wifi!

Yelp
The Devilcraft chain is one of the best hidden gems of Tokyo. This deep dish pizza craft beer restaurant has great pizza and even better beer. When we come out to Devilcraft we generally get the Meatzza extra meat is always the best! The appetizers just hit the spot while waiting for your deep dish pizza.

Yelp
I'm not the biggest fan of Chicago-style pizza (which are really like a casserole or something) and combined with beer it makes for a very heavy meal, but the craft beer is top notch and the pizzas are well done. This branch is very cramped so it might be better to try one of the newer branches in Hamamatsucho or Gotanda. (I haven't been to either yet but the location in Gotanda sounds especially convenient. Hopefully it doesn't end up being as cramped.

Yelp
A fellow beer-and-pizza lover we met in Tokyo suggested that we find Devil Craft during our stay in Tokyo. Luckily, it was a mere two blocks from our hotel so it wasn't even an inconvenient adventure. They have about 15 beers on tap and have a great variety of Japanese and American choices. All of them are reasonably priced and obviously care is taken in curating the list. The atmosphere is cozy, and while the first floor is small and only accommodates about 10 or 12 people, they have other floors as well if you have a bigger party. Their pizza is really, really delicious. They have both Chicago deep-dish and a thinner crust pizza, but we only tried the deep dish. I wouldn't say that it reminds me of exactly Chicago pizza, but it's definitely close and it was just what we needed to continue on our adventure of tasting unusual Japanese cuisine. We ordered the Devil Works pizza, which comes with pretty much all of the toppings you could imagine--pepperoni, sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and all that. Basically a supreme pizza in the US. The crust is crispy and chewy, the toppings are well-distributed and fresh, and the sauce was super flavorful. This place is an excellent stop if you're in Tokyo looking for craft beer. If you're also from the US and looking to take a short break from Japanese food, it's an even better stop.

Yelp
Pizza was as promised, deep dish and delicious. We ended up sitting outside as the restaurant was full on a Sunday night. How does that work for ambiance? Good, impromptu but the service didn't suffer. They definitely earned a full star for having Epic Brainless on Peaches. Finding Epic in Tokyo was unexpected. Waffle fries were good...but the ten beers on tap and pizza were the hit.

Yelp
Pizza here is great! Definitely best Chicago style deep dish pizza in Tokyo. Their craft beers are very good as well. I only wish there was more space.

Yelp
The pizza here is very good! The best Chicago-style pizza in Tokyo. Their selection of craft beer is great too! They're a bit on the pricey side but it's well worth it if you want damn good pizza.

Yelp
We walked a mile each way to get to this place. We were craving pizza (hadn't had any for awhile). It was a 40 minute wait for them to make it, but the pizza was great. It had a crunchy/flaky deep dish crust, a robust tomato sauce, flavorful toppings (I could have used a bit more pepperoni). Overall, was a great pizza!

Yelp
I have been to this place a couple of times and every time I have had good food and beer. They have great selection of craft beers from America. When I visited last night, there were two beers from Schooner Exact Brewing in Seattle and that made me happy. They make really good beer. They also serve really good food. They have Chicago style pizzas. It takes time to make them but they are just delicious! I usually order waffle fries too. Believe or not, it's harder to find them iin Japan. They make really good deserts too. Service is okay. Last night, the waitress we had asked us to pay before the pizza even came. We thought it was strange but we were sitting outside table so thought that she was worried about us running away or something. Turned out it was a mistake and she was just confused with somebody else and asked us to pay first. She eventually brought back the money and apologized but it was a weird experience. It's a tiny place but very easy to access from Kanda staion. Highly recommend it for the beer/pizza lovers out there!

Yelp
This place was solid, especially if you need a break from local food and want some pizza. It's not really Chicago deep dish, as the website states. It's more of a tall outside crust with a thin under-crust. Regardless, it was tasty. The chicken wings were solid as well; again they weren't a true buffalo sauce, but more of a sweet heat with a slow burn that really builds. The place was full of locals (no expats when we went) and we needed a reservation to eat there midweek as there is limited seating. Highly recommend calling ahead!

Yelp
Chicago style deep dish pizza in Tokyo?? Heck yeah!! I love pizza, all kinds: NY thin crust, Chicago style, even the minimalist Margherita. Coming in for the first time, I honestly had low expectations. Do NOT judge a book by the cover! This pizza is legit; it could hold its own even against Lou Malnati's on the North Side. Even better they served craft beer as well. If you're in the area, give it a try, you might even be surprised!!

Yelp
Great house beers. Good pizza. If you like craft beer make a stop here. Bar tender is very nice and loves OKC basketball

Yelp
Solid pizza...but this Chicago girl is not concerned about Tokyo stealing the deep dish pizza crown. I went to Devil Craft just after 5:30pm on a Saturday--a few people coming and going but no wait for a seat. After nearly 3 months in Japan I was really craving a taste of home so ordered a small Chicago-style deep dish (can't remember what it was called but it had mushrooms and sausage) and some gyoza to start with since I was hungry and the server warned me it would probably be about 30 minutes. While waiting for my food to start popping out, I was on the fence between a sakura and citrus-flavored beer and the bartender directed me toward the citrus one, which ended up hitting the spot. The gyoza arrived and were hot and tasty. Then I waited for the big event...the pizza....and to my spot was delivered...one of the smallest pies I've ever seen! The menu says it serves 1-2...if you're getting it for 2, I hope neither is very hungry (probably about the equivalent to just over 1 slice of pie at most spots in Chicago). I dove right into it and the taste was decent (I did like the crust especially). The sauce was a little sweet for my taste and the cheese...well...I don't know if it's just me but the cheese in Japan is...different than I'm accustomed to. I can't really explain why or how it's different but I just can't get used to it (and is probably one of the things I am most looking forward to when I head home!). Overall, not bad for a pizza, but don't expect it to really resemble a pizza from any of the standard deep-dish spots in Chi-town.

Carolyn W.

Yelp
This place is just what I was looking for after just a few days in Japan for the first time. They have a great selection of craft beer and their pizza is good as well. It's definitely small, but that's pretty average in Tokyo. I highly recommending grabbing a beer and some pizza if you're in the area. Also, the music played there is mostly 90's USA music.

Yelp
The line up of beers is excellent, but the prices are a bit steep. Having never lived in Chicago I cannot speak to the authenticity of their cuisine, but I must say from my experience stateside that I've had much better "Chicago" pizza elsewhere. Traditionally Chicago pizza is served heavy, the deep crust crisp and buttery on the outside, with a filling that conceals the "toppings" between layers of marinara and stretchy cheese... I didn't find that here at Devil Craft, unfortunately. Their pizza is comprised of the ingredients most readily affordable/available in Japan, which sums up to a Japanese take on "Chicago style" pizza. It tastes good, particularly if you're hungry, but the prices and sizes are too much for too little. It's generally noted that 1 or 2 slices of real Chicago pizza will have you full and happy, and to that respect, Devil Craft's pizza is subpar. Go for the beer, stay for the beer, but also be aware there are better deals on craft beer in Tokyo. Due to it's popularity (or limited seating space) this restaurant is a real stickler for time, and staff can be perceived as a little pushy in getting you in and out...
