16 New Coffee Shops to Seek Out in Denver - Eater Denver

"Like its sister location on Broadway, the Lakeside outpost of Amethyst is light, airy, and welcoming, bringing its unique style to North Denver. Woman-owned and with a proud policy of tolerance and inclusion, this second location brings the same creative drinks (think matcha lattes and sweet potato marshmallow steamers) with the exception of pour-overs and alcoholic beverages. Pastries come from Rebel Bread." - Rebecca Treon, Josie Sexton

Google
Super cute coffee shop! I ordered the Paloma cold brew and loved it. Highly recommend coming here to catch up with friends or work remotely.

Google
Honestly, I chose this coffee shop because of its enticing name, but it did not disappoint. It’s not huge, but tables are comfortable to work on or get a quick work meeting, the service is relaxed and efficient and the coffee is great. I got the Golden latte, which has a delicious and vibrant chai mix in it.

Definitely am in love with this coffee shop. Great service, great baristas and lovely vintage/modern environment . Me and my fiance loved it and will be coming back when we return to Colorado!

My husband ordered a nitro cold brew and appreciated that it came with ice. I ordered a latte and it was way too much milk compared to espresso. It also feels a little sterile in there. On our way out we saw a flyer on the window to report ICE and if I already wasn’t going back for the mediocre coffee, I’m definitely not now.

Google
My favorite coffee shop to work from. Gets a little busy, loud, and full after 10am on a weekday though. Fast wifi and lots of clean, individual gender neutral bathrooms.

Google
Nice coffee shop in an interesting neighborhood! This Denver neighborhood is in transition from older homes to new construction, so you get an eclectic crowd here, which is fun. Parking is decent, and the staff is on top of things. My spouse and I enjoyed our visit.

Not a coffee person, was hunting for good whole beans for my wife. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Google
Favorite local spot!! Such a great space to sit, work, chat. Staff is always great. We also buy beans from here.

Yelp
Is it Devil's Cup Coffee? Is it Queen City Coffee? Is it an ice cream shop? Yes. Yes. And yes. All you need to know is that this place sits on 44th Ave. east of Sheridan and west of Tennyson. I drive by ALL the time. And I mean all the time. I remember visiting years ago when it was a former coffee shop. It seems like they have things dialed in. Queen City has been taking over Denver lately because they make some damn good coffee. The seasonal menu had a Cold Brew Lemonade and I was immediately sold. I used to drink these on especially hot days in Florida, and in the Denver summer this is a quick fix to cooling you down. WiFi was fast, barista was friendly, they share bathrooms with the surrounding businesses, and I love the outdoor patio seating with umbrellas to give you some shade! So far, so good. I'm officially adding the Devil's Cup/Queen City outpost back into the rotation!

Yelp
Queen City Coffee was in walking distance to our rental and we took advantage of it by grabbing drinks there each morning before work, usually double fisting drinks out the door. They open at 6:30, which is a bonus for those that are up and want a nice cup of coffee before work. I had a cortado and London fog my first day, a triple americano my second day, and the hubby had a drip and iced vanilla latte each day. The coffee was smooth, tasty, not bitter and delicious. The service was exceptional and the space is vast, had high ceilings, with ample seating at the bar and against the wall. There's also an ice cream case, a donut case, and an array of hot sandwiches in the morning to grab and go.

Yelp
I love the name of this place! Devil's Cup Coffee is a great new find for me. It's a cozy space with ample seating and a great vibe. The baristas were friendly and quick. They offer Outrageous bread! Thank you for having gluten-free options. My only complaint is that the prices are steep. I'd definitely visit here again if I happen to be in the area.

Yelp
Recommend this coffee/ ice cream shop. Cannot think of a reason not to give this wonderful establishment a perfect review. Service, selection of beverages, ambiance- the list goes on and on. Speciality coffee drinks galore! Ice cream sold by a local small business. A nice little bonus right there. Tried an oat milk cappuccino which was sheer perfection. Thanks for a memorable experience.

Yelp
This awesome new coffee shop and ice cream parlor is located in the old Amethyst Coffee building on 44th. The interior is roomy, modern, and there's a lot of seating options. The baristas were really friendly greeted me as soon as we walked in. I ordered a crème brûlée latte with almond milk. They have a variety of non-dairy/vegan milks as well as fun flavored syrups. There is also an ice cream counter towards the back of the shop with cones, cups, and toppings. I only got coffee today, but I would definitely come back to try some ice cream. This would be a great, quiet place to work or a fun spot to meet a friend. I'm in love with the name and will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Super solid chai tea (Choice between sweet & spicy), friendly service & adorable seating areas! The bagel was just eh and would've loved to see more of a breakfast selection.

Yelp
I wanted to find a cute cafe to work from for a few hours and stumbled upon this one. I ordered a butter croissant, a cookies and cream macaroon, and an almond iced latte. Inside it's beautifully decorated, average noise level and offer Wi-Fi. There's a good amount of seating offered inside as well. I loved the tiled floor and exposed beam ceiling. Off to the side I believe they have an ice cream parlor too. That part seemed closed when I went in the morning but it's a cute corner. The service was fast and friendly as well. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
One of the very rare places in this area that has sugar free syrups for coffee. Thank you! Ambiance is fairly normal coffee shop, nothing to really call out. Friendly people, average prices for the area. A small decent selection of pastries, and breakfast bar type stuff, and a small menu of like breakfast burritos. They have an ice cream shoppe on-site too, in the later hours of the day. I also appreciate that they don't give cup lids or holders by default - if you want them you can get them but if you don't want them they don't waste single use products.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop. They have lemon scones. Their everything bagel pastry is good. Free parallel parking in neighborhood. Seating is bench and basics chair style. Didn't love their Decaf beans I bought.

Yelp
I love the zen ambience and plants here! They have tons of seating, including tables that are big enough to play a board game on. Their chai and chocolate almond croissants are quite good, I want to come back to try some of the more unique drink options. There is a paid parking lot across the street or street parking nearby

Yelp
This is an awesome coffee shop discovery, there is tons of seating and even better...outlets EVERYWHERE! I came here to work for the day a couple of weeks ago and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their drinks. Lots of drink options for non-coffee friends (like me) which is extremely appreciated! The only small downside is that there aren't tons of food options if you are sticking around for a while, but they do have snack options to keep you full. I was able to easily get a parking spot in their lot behind the building, or there is a lot of street parking that tends to be available. I'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
Super solid cortado and delicious pastry, cute atmosphere in a nice neighborhood. What more can ya ask for? I think they even roast their own beans?

Yelp
Chic and stylish place, with kind, knowledgeable baristas. Stopped in briefly with my girlfriend for a coffee and a scone, and we were pleasantly surprised with the bright and modern shop, a perfect place to study or work independently with the quiet, coffee shop buzz. We were greeted by two baristas, kind, soft spoken, and helpful with questions about their expertly-prepared seasonal house specialties and friendly conversation. Coffee drinks, pastries, and the general atmosphere were outstanding. Highly recommend this local gem!

Yelp
I absolutely loved their Matcha with lavender and cardamom syrup! Nice, relaxing vibes, everyone was super friendly, and it had such a warm, sunny feel to it.

Yelp
I guess there's a reason it's called devils cup, the workers in this establishment are the rudest people I've ever met. I've been trying to come to this place a couple times to see if the service would be better, but it's honestly awful. I'm a local in the neighborhood and was looking toward to a coffee shop. Only people of color would understand this, but they gave more attention to the yt girl behind me. Try tennyson st if you're a POC.

Yelp
My coffee maker broke so I walked over to support a neighborhood small business. $10 for 2 (extra) small drip coffees, it was alright but my Costco coffee from home tasted better IMO. Next day came back around 7:50 and the door was locked- an employee came running up to tell me they weren't open yet and it would be at least another 45 minutes for anything to be ready to serve (open at 7am everyday. Also- what coffee shop opens at 7am? Apparently they can't get employees to show up earlier if not earlier?) And received at best a half assed "sorry man"- zero on the customer service scale. At least this place is hip?

Yelp
The best coffee I've had in a long time. Spicy chai was my favorite but coffee all around is great. Loved this place!

Yelp
My husband and I have gone to Devils Cup at the Lakeside location since it opened and have always LOVED our experience. However, we went in this past Friday, 12/30 and did not like our experience. I know that they have added some new baristas and they are not friendly. We went in on 12/29 and 12/30 and each time, both baristas were constantly on their phones and not welcoming at all. Then on 12/30 our lattes were room temperature (at best) and again very unapproachable. I am a barista as well, at a coffee shop in Denver and can tell you that if I treated my customers the way I was treated I wouldn't get any tips. Not loving the new barista set up and feeling like I'm inconveniencing them as a customer.

Trip L.

Yelp
Local coffee shop. Drinks taste good, food selection. Is decent, but it is pricey. An iced vanilla latte goes for above $8.00.

Yelp
while visiting a Denver we saw a cute coffee shop and stopped in. We ordered 2 colorado lattes 1 regular and they alternative milk, a chai tea and an earl grey London fog latte? a combo that the barista suggested. I absolutely love coffee! I have never not finished a cup of coffee even Folgers crystals(instant) but I took 2 sips and threw the rest away. my daughters with almond milk was even worse. the chai had no flavor or spice, no cream nothing (made with way too much water. the London fog was ok but not good. We got our coffee in to go cups while everyone else got real coffee cups. We were not asked if we wanted our coffee to go nor were lids provided. When the he Colorado lattes were put on the counter one of the baristas said the ugly one is almond milk waved her hand over it and then walked off. You can see in the pictures that one has no foam design. The barista need more training because the coffee shop was so cute and the vibe was cool but we wasted $27 plus tip because I have never had worse coffee. I just don't get it.
