Little Italy Doughnut Shop Now Does Lunch - Eater San Diego

"Kettner Exchange’s companion doughnut shop, Devil’s Dozen, is going beyond sweet treats and bringing another lunch option to Little Italy. Opened in 2015 by SDCM Restaurant Group (The Grass Skirt, Firehouse), the eatery has its own prized rooftop patio, where executive chef Brian Redizikowski has been hosting pop-ups featuring his signature bao buns. With its new extended hours, Devil’s Dozen will now be offering lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fast-casual menu is ordered via the walk-up window, with doughnuts and coffee still available throughout the day." - Candice Woo

✨️HIDDEN GEM✨️ Devil's Dozen Donuts is a Hidden Gem in San Diego and if you're down in Little Italy make point of stopping by. What a lot of people don't notice is they have fantastic upstairs seating with glass walls, a great breeze, plenty of space and comfortable benches/chairs. Great place for conversation, reading a book, or working on a laptop. It's hard to find places in San Diego to just chill out for a little bit. But this is wonderful! The donuts are made from scratch everyday and are extraordinary, and their lattes are fantastic. They have soy milk which a lot of places don't carry anymore. The vanilla bean donut is their best seller and deserves its reputation. The brown butter with crumbles on top is also delicious. Stop by and feel like you're getting away with something! 🥳🙌☕️🍩

I hate to admit that I ran out of time to actually get a donut and I will probably burn in hell for it. But I did run upstairs to check out the view and snag some great pics of this sinfully adorable spot in Little Italy, San Diego. I found parking quickly but everyone else wanted satanic snacks at the same time as I did. Next time!! Thanks for existing anyways!! 😈🍩 No regrets, the view was stunning and I highly recommend grabbing some coffee and a donut and heading upstairs to enjoy it, not the other way around. 🤣

Google
Coffee was great and the doughnuts were very, very good. Ordered one of each and a dozen doughnut holes; variety was insane and each one was as tasty and unique as the next! Also bought a tank top, but I *THINK* they only carry women's sizes, so I'd recommend clarifying before you get one. Price is well worth it. Can't wait to go again. (Get there early!)

Google
Devil’s Dozen is like dating someone with potential — occasionally amazing, but just as often leaving you wondering where it all went wrong. Some donuts are pure magic, the kind you accidentally inhale before you even sit down. Others? Heavy, bready, and giving strong bread roll wearing a sugar hat energy. Service is friendly enough, think “cool acquaintance at a party” rather than “best friend hyping you up.” The location is clutch if you’re already lurking around the neighborhood, but this isn’t a plan your Saturday morning around it type of donut shop. Worth a pit stop if you’re nearby and craving a little sugar roulette. Just don’t be shocked if you leave feeling more “meh” than “mystical.”

Google
I still like this place, but taste is less wow-ing than our last regular visit >3 yrs ago. Solid, yummy donuts with an awesome view from the rooftop terrace.

Google
This place is quite the treat. The donuts are a perfect consistency with a delightful array of flavor options. I recommend anything guava. Upstairs is a neat little seating area to watch over downtown.

Google
I had the cookies and cream donut which they have a strawberry glaze on and makes it taste far more refreshing than other cookies and cream donuts. My wife had the classic chocolate glaze and that tasted like Mexican chocolate on top! Highly recommend this place!

Love this donut shop downtown! The coffee is fantastic, and the donuts are always fresh and delicious. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Visited Devil's Dozen on a recent donut excursion. DD is located in Little Italy where parking is notoriously difficult. Luckily in the mornings, especially during the week, it's pretty easy. There's a small walk-up window where you can pick from their daily selection of donuts and/or order a beverage. The person at the window was very friendly and I was able to order effortlessly. I ordered a Mexican mocha to drink and a banana caramel donut. The cost was a little high, but it is Little Italy, so it was to be expected. The donut was good, but very rich. The same with the Mexican mocha. All in all it was ok. I won't go out of my way to stop, but I wouldn't turn one down if someone brought them into the office.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place!!! Right in the middle of little Italy, lots of places and parking spots nearby. All their donuts are SO GOOD!! I didn't know what to expect coming here but WOW. It's such a fun spot to grab a donut, a coffee and sit upstairs. The line goes by pretty quick and it is absolutely worth it to wait in! The staff is so fun and friendly! They have the best recommendation's. You're going to want to grab more than one donut each time.

Yelp
I will say the donuts are delicious, high quality, and they're much bigger than an average donut shop donut but they are expen$ive. They have your classics as well as unique flavors like S'mores or Mango Orange. They also serve gluten free donuts and coffee with fun/seasonal flavors. They're also always very friendly. If you're looking to bring donuts in bulk to work, do your wallet a favor and go to a regular donut shop. You know the ones. If you need to treat yourself or a friend with a few celebration donuts, this is the perfect place.

Yelp
Popped over to visit this donut shop on Kettner Boulevard recently. We got the Homer donut and some coffee. The donut itself was a little dense for my taste, I'm used to the fluffier more airy type. These reminded me a bit more of funnel cake. Still tasty but not my favorite donut personally. Coffee was well-made and strong. I think I loved the branding and artwork for this place more than anything though! Definitely want to support anything devil themed. LOL.

Yelp
Not only do they have taste donuts but it's a lot of fun. Sinnamon Sugar Holes, Souled Out, and Fresh as Hell puns fill the small stand. My raspberry white chocolate donut actually tasted like raspberry. No greasy after taste! I can't wait to go back. The downside, parking is a hassle.

Yelp
HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN Tragic News. Devil's Dozen no longer makes their one-of-a-kind, delicious, infamous, hella-worth-going-out-of-your-way-for TRES LECHES DONUT!!!???!! A desert famous for it's soggy milky texture, this donut was somehow able to retain the classic donut shape, while feeling heavy and drenched with milk and cream. And the bites were a perfect combo of soggy and crispness. A donut I've never seen recreated anywhere else. Definitely a calling card for this spot in a San Diego neighborhood known for great food. Now... Devil's Dozen feels just like another donut shop. R.I.P. to a legend. COME BACK SOON TRES LECHES.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal donuts. Both classic and unique flavors! The lady who served me was so kind and gave me 2 free donut holes!! Super cute upstairs seating area and the coffee is great too!

Yelp
The theme, names, art merch all rad. I'm here for all of it. The staff ruled; real friendly and helpful. The wait was pretty long for so few people in line, but it's hard to be mad at them. Coffee was good. I just wish I liked the donuts a little bit more. They weren't bad at all. They were just a little too dense and a little too sweet. It was a bummer. But it also would have been a real rough place to fall in love with in that location. Not convenient for sure.

Yelp
Cute donut spot! Get here early as they always sell out! If you can get here on a week day you will have more luck skipping the line. They have a really cute patio up top if you want to sit and vibe. The passionfruit orange guava donut was my favorite. The chocolate raspberry cheesecake one was super tasty as well. The devils brown butter is a little too buttery for me. The blackberry banana muffin combo didnt work for me. The almond joy was just ok. Glad i tried a bunch of flavors. My favorite 2 were the ones i expected. The passionfruit one was soooo yummy. Oh i didnt try the caramel latte donut but was told it was delish!

Yelp
I'm usually a simple guy when it comes to donuts. I'll stop by my local corporate donut shop by my house but this morning I dropped wifey off at the airport at 7am and had the day off so I decided to treat myself to a cup of something hot and sweet and stumbled upon this little donut shop. I almost passed it on 2001 Kettner. I threw the VDub in reverse and parked in back. I chose a hot chocolate and kept it basic with a chocolate glaze and vanilla bean glaze. They both were delicious! Handcrafted with top shelf ingredients. The hot chocolate was spicey, just the way I like it. My favorite part though was chilling on their second story patio with a view of the harbor.

Yelp
Dear Satan, I beseech ye once again to accept the offering of my very essence in exchange for an unlimited supply of your yeasty blessings. I accept the consequences of becoming a portrait of My 600000000000000lb life. I agree to sacrifice all the babies and unicorns for your bounty. I yearn to satiate my sadness and succumb to a slow death by drowning inside a sea of guava glaze. I beg for you to enrobe my despair with of all the different fruity glazes as if I am one of your pillowy fried circlets of dough. I hereby relinquish full autonomy of my being and free will to your service for all the glaze of our lives. Doughnut let me down, oh dark one!

Yelp
Worth the brief wait, donuts are to die for! Freddy Croaker is da bomb! Go early, you may miss something awesome!

Yelp
Owned by the SDCM Restaurant Group behind Kettner Exchange Devil's Dozen debuted in 2015, a Little Italy address predictably generating lines that the shop's limited size continues to struggle with now. Narrow across the alley from KEX, a single window beneath the rooftop patio in charge of selling fried Dough plus elaborate Lattes to the Soy or Oat Milk crowd, guests can expect to wait, wait and wait some more while one guest has their whole six-drink order prepared even though others just desiring Pastries could easily be addressed in the meantime. Thirty minutes to move three orders, the online ordering system never once operational across two days, those with persistence will find the Donuts themselves mostly-well constructed, the raised options light and springy regardless of toppings while the Old Fashioned is unfortunately a bit dry. Prone to frequent change, Gluten-free choices available on weekends for those feigning an allergy, do consider the "Cosmic Brownie" if available as the Brioche ring marries semi-cooked Batter to airy Whipped Cream and Sprinkles.

Yelp
Donuts are ok. Certain donuts were much better than others. The chocolate tasted 2 days old and was dense cake; really bad. The caramel apple was really good although a bit too rich. Heath bar was good flavor, but again the cake was dense and despite being fresh, didn't taste it. Overall average donuts but the prices are gourmet donut prices. So for value I would never go back here.

Yelp
Went after 10am on a Sunday, and it wasn't too busy. Had one person in front of us. Ordered an Americano and cortado, which they use James Coffee for. They were reasonably priced for coffee. Got 3 donuts - one guava, a chocolate old fashioned, and I can't remember what they called the other one, but it was a chocolate cake donut with vanilla icing. The donuts were solid - nothing super special, but good. I didn't feel like they were pumped with a ridiculous amount of sugar like some. Enough to be sweet, but not have a sugar high after. The wait was pretty short, and the service was friendly. If it had been a sunny day, we might have enjoyed the rooftop, but we took them to go. I'm not a huge donut fan in general, but worth a try if you are in the area.

Yelp
Wow! I had an amazing experience at Devil's Dozen this morning. I grabbed a few donuts to go, and they were all great, my personal favorite was the cookies and cream donut! The girl upfront was a sweetheart, providing excellent service with a smile. Even though I didn't stay long, I couldn't help but notice the cozy seating area above the shop, with a small view that was simply delightful. I can't wait to go back later this week to study and soak in the fantastic ambiance, delicious food, and top-notch service. Devil's clearly cares about delivering an exceptional experience in every aspect!

Yelp
This cool themed donut shop serves a bunch of fresh, unique donuts in many forms including old fashioned, filled, and donut holes! They have so many fun flavors that rotate often so you'll never get bored (they already had new ones when I stopped by a few days later). Pair them with regular or seasonal beverages, and enjoy them at the beautiful second floor seating area. Be sure to visit early because they can definitely sell out fast! Service is very friendly!

Yelp
I finally made it to this place during my final days in San Diego on a friend's suggestion. I have tried several donut shops in the city and honestly, I see the light in the dark with Devil's Dozen. . Tucked away on Kettner Boulevard in Little Italy, this branded cafe taunts and tempts anyone with a sweet tooth walking past their roadside, walkup counter. The donuts are made from scratch phresh daily and are available until what is in stock is sold out, so if you want the best of the variety, get there early. A woman with a cute and colorful head bow in her hair, cordially greeted me and took my order. I had the Vanilla Old Fashioned and an almond milk hot chocolate. . After receiving my goodies, I went upstairs to their seating area that overlooks the Waterfront park at San Diego Harbor. The donut was perfectly glazed on the outside and felt like a mix between soft cake and a muffin upon sinking my teeth into it. The glaze was more sweet than the dough which was a good contrast and balance for taste and worth the potential cavities. The cocoa was hot, but not searing and and had a round flavor probably some of the best cocoa I've had. If you want a good sugar rush to start your day and you're in the area, don't hesitate to dance with the devil's dozen!

Yelp
Yummy donuts! I'd recommend coming early enough as they seem to sell out quickly. We went at 10 on a Tuesday and had limited options. The menu changes weekly so be sure to check back! They have a walk up window to order and a super cute seating area upstairs! The chocolate ganache on the s'mores donut was soooo rich and good! I also enjoyed the vanilla sprinkled donut holes.

Ellen K.

Yelp
What is this sorcery??!! These donuts are absolutely insane! The flavors are incredibly unique, & specialty donuts vary daily. Examples of flavors include Berry Creamsicle*, Mango Orange*, Strawberry Matcha*, Salted Caramel Latte*, Brown Butter, Vanilla Bean, Devil's Chocolate, Devil's Vanilla, & more! By far, the best donuts I've ever had!!! They even taste fresh leftover! * = specialty donuts - vary daily
google avatar

Cora S.

Yelp
I really like the doughnuts here! I'm not a big doughnut person in general but these ones are amazing! I always get fruity flavors because chocolate can get too much for me and they always have a fruity selection! My favorite is the guava, it's not sweet and just right! The coffee is really good too! They use James coffee which I enjoy and there is a cute upstairs patio area to enjoy your snack. They can sellout quickly so it's better to come earlier depending on what type of doughnut you want.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Wednesday at 8:30, just after opening. We were the only ones in line at that time, but 10 mins later there was already a sizable line forming. I ordered a Mexican mocha, iced with an extra shot. It was good, although super sweet even with the added shot. I think next time I would ask them to adjust the syrups for less sweetness. My group ordered the s'mores donut, the raspberry lemon filled, guava berry and the Devil's vanilla. The favorite overall was the raspberry lemon filled. Typically, filled donuts have a super thick overly sweet filling, but the filling here is super light and not overpowering at all. The whipped topping was also light and airy. The guava berry donut had a nice tangy glaze that we enjoyed. The s'mores was good as well, the actual donut itself is super light and fluffy. The only miss was the devils vanilla, as it was a little dry but it did have good flavor. Service was really friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed sitting on the patio deck to enjoy our treats. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Capital D for Deliciousness! As you take the first bite and this is my first time tasting a DD and as you sink your mouth into the deep fried dough, it's like a fluffy pillow of yumminess. It's so good that you don't feel guilty because I tasted the quality of the dough and the sugar. One doesn't taste the oil. There are many donuts and often leaves a film of old oil in your tongue. Not these donuts. Great anytime of the day and I ate mine as dessert after dinner with tea. What a great find. Worth paying a little extra money. Guiltless pleasure.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the pride doughnut pack today and picked it up and also grabbed a few other doughnuts. All the doughnuts were very moist and very unique, loved the fruity pebbles a lot! We also got the Dr Pepper. Service was prompt despite there being a sizable line and it was really nice they have parking behind the store! The store is so cute, it's so tiny and very well set up, you can tell they easily take pride in their doughnuts and it shows.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
I had heard great things about this place and had it on my list from the last time we visited San Diego, so I was very excited to check it off. I was surprised that it was a walk up counter, but they had some great seating options on the side of the building. The donuts were super rich so I would definitely recommend sharing, but found them to be delicious! Overall pretty happy!
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
We had the chocolate cookie crumble one, the guava white chocolate, and the chocolate old fashioned. The cookie crumble was my favorite. The donut was fluffy and even though it looks sweet it actually wasn't too sweet. The guava chocolate lacked a punchy flavor but was cute and yummy. The old fashioned felt really dense. I love the upstairs where you can eat them it's such a cute area.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Advertised to be open at 7AM didn't really open until 720... tried coming here a few times prior to work but after waiting 30 min I left. I came early & waited my bad on the 10 min prior to opening. But sucks I had to rush to work & can't try out this place I gave up.

Yelp
A true definition of a hole-in-the-wallplace, Devil's Dozen is located in Little Italy with a small storefront window but with extra seating upstairs. The flavors and doughnut menu are much more limited than other donut shops but at the same time that definitely helps combat choice overload. The donuts (regular, not oldfashioned) themselves have an amazing fluffy texture where just by holding them, your fingers start to sink into the donut. I do wish the the flavors were more extensive because the donuts have such a fantastic texture that adding some more funky/unique flavors would make this place standout even more. I understand that it may be a capacity issue since the downstairs space where you order doesn't seem like it can support a lot more donuts etc.
google avatar

Brianne C.

Yelp
Devils dozen has been one of my favorite doughnuts shops since I moved to SD. I have not tried their cake doughnuts since I'm generally not a fan so this review is for the other doughnuts. The dough is so light and fluffy, one of the best in SD. They melt in your mouth. I dont know how they do it. The flavors are always changing and I always find something I'll like. Do note, you have to get there early to have a whole variety. They sell out quickly especially on weekends. The photo is of chocolate, vanilla bean, and a passionfruit coconut. Chocolate and vanilla bean are staples and always available, both were solid and what you would expect but with that extra fluffy doughnut underneath. The passion fruit (whenever I see passionfruit I have to try it) was extra tart, but that's what I look for in passionfruit desserts. It tasted like legit pulp without added sweeteners. Like I mentioned, flavors rotate quite often. Other ones I've tried that are amazing and I see often: tres leches, guava cream cheese, cookies and cream. They're so close to the airport you have no excuse to not visit if you're not from here!

Very good doughnuts and delicious coffee choices- this place is so good and they customer service is fabulous.

Yelp
Decadent!!! Every weekend in San Diego before noon begins with a visit to Devil's Dozen Donut Shop! Their donuts are "Over-The-Top" and "To-Die-For!" At present, it is my favorite donut shop in all of California! Boasting flavors and combinations that you don't find in other shops, while maintaining that custom, handmade, small batch taste that summons you as you pass. As I drive down Kettner my vehicle slightly brakes to remind me I am near. Must visit!
google avatar

Jane G.

Yelp
Love this gem!! Their aesthetic is really unique and is different than any other donut shop I've been to. Every time I come, they always have really good flavors on display and their menu isn't overwhelming. Their dough is suuuuper fluffy! If you have the time, enjoy your donuts and coffee upstairs in their really cute and very open seating area. I wouldn't recommend studying here because there are a lot of loud noise from planes passing by and there's no public restroom. Definitely visit this spot!!

Yelp
Lucky for me, I was right across the street from Devil's Dozen during my San Diego stay. Unluckily for me, that made me want to consume an absurd amount of carbs in the form of their delicious donuts every single day. #NoRegrets This place gets super busy on the weekends. We're talking line-around-the-corner kind of busy. I found that it was pretty easy to just walk up on the weekdays though especially early in the morning or later towards closing time. The donuts are absolutely delicious. Like perfect little clouds of heaven. I tried the maple pecan, the old fashioned glaze, the vanilla, and the chocolate donuts and loved every single one. The coffee is really good too and they have milk substitutes! The upstairs space is gorgeous. It's fully covered but open air and has lots of seating areas to enjoy your sweet treats. You can see straight to the harbor too! The street parking can be a bit tough but it is in a very walkable location in Little Italy. I would highly recommend stopping by Devil's Dozen whether you're a tourist or a full time resident. The donuts are devilishly good ;)
google avatar

Bernadette T.

Yelp
Whenever I come to Little Italy, I always see this little donut shop with a line so I definitely wanted to check it out! We were able to stop by when it wasn't too busy so we were lucky that we only waited a few min in line. They have a small ordering window where you order and receive donuts from, and a small outside seating area to the right and stairs up to a loft seating area on the left. We got a peanut butter chocolate donut, which is a weekly flavor. The donut was super soft and pillowy and we really enjoyed the peanut butter and chocolate topping. It was perfect amount of sweetnesss, and definitely fulfilled our donut craving! They also sell donut holes for $0.50 each if you're not in the mood for a whole donut. The upstairs loft seating area is so nice! It's filled with plants and is super open-air and quite a few seats, with a nice view of the bay. It's a perfect little area to stop and enjoy the donut :) I know I will definitely stoop by here whenever I come to Little Italy!

Yelp
Honestly, it's a must. Every time I get a little donut craving, I drive over here because 1. The donuts leave me speechless (literally clouds of heaven. They fluff back up after a bite). 2. The drinks always hit the spot (matcha and coffee, both amazing. Get the house made cinnamon syrup). 3. THE SERVICE. Everyone is so kind and I honestly always leave with a little smile on my face. Definitely deserve more than 3.5 stars. I found this place on accident and I refuse to go anywhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
Always a nice spot to start off a weekend. My favorite thing to do is stop and pick up a donut , grab a coffee and walk around little Italy. Delicious and fun.

Robyn Q.

Yelp
Fabulous Doughnuts! The Amazing Kat helped me decide on my order by recommending this delicious Strawberry Chocolate Whipped Cream Doughnut....it was Devine!! 10/10 would definitely go back, it is a small space (you order at a little window). But they have a decent amount of choices! Enjoy! Shout out to Joey as well - she was very sweet and helped my friend and I take a photo on her break!

Yelp
= L O C A T I O N = What a clever concept for a donut shop! I love the occult-y theming and visuals. This is also undeniably the best view I've had while eating donuts...you can see all the way until the ocean from their cute balcony. The balcony is adorned with macabre...I mean, macramé...and there are enough plants up there to make any plant parent jealous. = S E R V I C E = There is a single window downstairs to take orders. We were lucky that it wasn't busy at all. The person taking my order was pleasant. = D O N U T S = The donuts are hit or miss. One of the ones we got had glaze that was far too sweet, and the dough was oily. The other one was tasty, but very rich still. + MEXICAN MOCHA: The coffee was decent, good enough to pair with the donuts. // (3/5) Great way to spend a lazy Sunday morning! ========================================= Donuts: 3 // Service: 4 // Environment: 5 // Price: 3
google avatar

Giena L.

Yelp
Haven't met a donut I didn't like. I really enjoy all of the clever flavors of this spot. But even more so, I actually really like the donut itself, the texture, chewiness.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
I couldn't help myself but I took a bite of the gluten free tangerine donut first. So so good! They asked to box it separately but I'm not allergic and just wanted to try it. The maple bacon is delicious as well! I'm saving the other two for later. I also got an iced lavender lemon tyme oat milk latte and it did not disappoint! Perfectly sweet but not too sweet, the herbs not overpowering the coffee and a great compliment to the donuts. They have a cute little seating area up top with a view of the wafer front in the distance. The cashier was so kind and sweet. It's always a wait but always worth it! I always crave it on weekdays and it's becoming my favorite weekend treat. A must try!
google avatar

Britny R.

Yelp
I fell absolutely inloveee with the donuts. They were big and fluffy. The barista was helpful with recommending what a good option would be for me. I loved the upstairs space, it's so relaxing. Perfect way to start the day.
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
This was the best espresso I have ever had. The cinnamon donut was delicious 10/10 recommend! Definitely will be returning!

Timothy P.

Yelp
Best donut shop in San Diego. My go-to is the chocolate old fashioned. Not too sweet and a nice crispy exterior. They sell out fast so get there early. Service is a tad slow compared to other shops but the quality is there. Really quaint upstairs dining area. I'm giving 5 stars because Yelp only deals in whole numbers, but if I could it's like 4.7 stars all things considered. Still extremely solid. Keep up the good work.

Yelp
It was a beautiful Sunday morning for donuts! My husband and I woke up early from the time change and thought we'd finally try this place out. We walked by at 7:40 expecting a line, but it was empty so we grabbed a coffee down the street. Came back five minutes to 8 and were the first ones in line. A few people quickly built up behind us before the doors opened. We ordered an assortment to try out: Butter Pecan, Chocolate Glaze, Vanilla Glaze, Chocolate old fashioned, Homer, Apple Cider Glaze and some salted caramel donut holes. Butter Pecan was the star of the show for me. I've never had a donut like it. The yeast on the donut was so tall that I couldn't gracefully bite into it and the glaze was so fresh that it hadn't fully hardened yet, so had to savagely rip this donut apart to actually eat it. It was not pretty, but maybe my husband was turned on by it. They do a really great job on their yeast raised donuts. I can understand why they sell out. I had a couple bites of the old fashioned. It has that perfect crunch you want with the outside of an old fashioned. My only wish is that the cake had more nutmeg spice to it. The chocolate glaze on the outside had a really nice richness to it. Apple cider glaze donut wasn't my favorite, but it was fun for the season. We sat upstairs where you get an incredible view of the bay. The seating is really well designed and there are lush plants everywhere. The trash cans were full upstairs and we couldn't find napkins anywhere so it makes me think they weren't prepared to open this morning, but those are my only critiques. Overall a fun and upscale twist on the classic donut shop.

Yelp
Devil's Dozen had mastered the donut craft. Don't be deterred by the long line and even longer wait times, it's definitely worth it for that bite. They could definitely increase efficiency as the person ringing up orders is also preparing the donuts and coffee (if someone in front of you orders a coffee, add a few minutes to that wait time) but we still went way too many times during our time in Little Italy. I've tried a variety of their special flavors but ultimately, it doesn't get any better than their vanilla bean glazed (except for the vanilla glazed donut holes). They do have an upstairs area that is occasionally open for eating and has a nice view of the bay.

Yelp
The best donut I have ever had in my life. I cannot wait to go back and try more. Not sure why it took me so long to try this place.

Yelp
Coffee and service was great and the London fog donut was my favorite. Really cute ambiance and a great study spot if you're looking for somewhere quiet!

Yelp
These donuts are amazing but the service & lack of consistency is disappointing, & believe me I come here at least 2-3 times a month. It takes 15 minutes just to take an order & make a coffee. The line is short but the wait is terrible! & to top it off, they run out of donuts by 8 AM & don't even make more!!

Yelp
I love the donuts here! The donut pastry itself is so soft and fluffy, and they are great at infusing flavors into their donuts. They aren't overly sweet, which I love, and they just melt in your mouth. Today I tried their special strawberry fields donut, and it was like a fresh strawberry chiffon cake in every bite. I've never had an issue with waiting in line, usually 15 minutes or less on the weekend when I've gone. They are a tiny shop, and they do a great job serving people with the space they have.

Yelp
Waited for 30 minutes after opening as they were running late. The glazes/toppings were all so sweet they seemed flavorless except the chocolate. The dulce de leche was sickeningly sweet. The dough was not light but doughy and chewy. Sorry, but folding dough upon itself is NOT lamination just because the term is coined by a blogger. Lamination involves a layer like a butter block or sugar (Kouign Amann) to create layers. The folding you do with the dough does nothing to enhance the structure. Just another mediocre donut place in SD. Nomad, VG, Barrio, Donut Bar etc.
