Why You Should Be Eating More Rabbit | Eater

"A Marin County supplier of specialty meats to high-end California restaurants that saw farmers-market and direct-to-consumer sales surge during restaurant closures, helping sustain rabbit production as more adventurous home cooks bought meat directly from farmers." - Betsy Andrews

With Restaurants Closed, Bay Area Farmers Are Now Trying to Sell Direct to Customers | Eater SF

"I know Mark Pasternak’s Devil’s Gulch Ranch in Nicasio as the source of the rabbit green curry at Kin Khao and as an early supplier of fresh rabbits to the French Laundry and Chez Panisse; beyond rabbits he raises pigs, lamb, squab, game hens, quail, and rare birds, supplied almost 95 percent of his product directly to restaurants, saw most orders canceled overnight, and is now renting more freezer space, trying the Marin farmers market, and launching online orders because he can’t tell his animals to stop growing." - Becky Duffett

Devil's Gulch Ranch is one of the last stands in family-owned, local, sustainable, ranches. In addition to providing a good home for all the animals out on the property, Devil's Gulch Ranch delivers excellent service and quality meats to local restaurants and stores. Check them out at the San Francisco Ferry Plaza farmers market on Saturdays and the Marin Civic Center farmers on Sundays! Plenty of fresh meats to choose from including: rabbit, lamb, Bresse chicken, Poussin chicken, quail, squab, and pork. Get yourself a rabbit foot keychain, drool over the delicious bacon selection, take a photo of the beautiful hides, and have a chat with the friendly staff.

Devil's Gulch hogs are soooo yummy! Getting a group together to split a whole hog or two is a bit of work, but lots of fun and really the best pork I've had. Kids are grown now, but so many good family memories around their hogs. David Chang's Momofuku pulled pork recipe was always a hit. Ditto home made bacon, smoked on the bbq and served at picnics, for breakfast, etc. Mark and the crew are very flexible, helpful about the process, will deliver the hog to a local butcher for packaging, sausage making, etc.

Yelp
Devil's Gulch summer camp was a rare opportunity for me to free my child from suburban culture for a few hours each day, to let my kid be a kid. Devil's Gulch camp encourages a kids' curiosity and then expertly directs it toward a fun experience. It gives a kid the time to have his or her own thoughts and to wonder about things. All this happens outside, where few kids go very often these days, and on a working farm, a truly unusual place for most people. My son went in with the typical too-cool, I've-seen-it-all-on-TV attitude and ended up hunting for newts in the creek and chasing other kids around in the vineyard. He enjoyed learning archery, driving a tractor and jumping into the reservoir from a zip line, all of this with expert supervision, instruction and gentle encouragement. Family camp (in which the whole family can camp together) was also wonderful. Not only did we get to enjoy the farm together, to learn things (I learned stick welding, for example) and be outdoors together, at the end of the day we could camp in a beautiful campground together (with great food!). The best and most important part was that we didn't have to interrupt our leisurely, rural days with motor-driven suburban nights. I wish that we'd been able to stay for more than a week!
