San Francisco’s Best Restaurants for Solid Weekday Breakfasts

"The doomsayers may say downtown San Francisco is dead, but the Devil’s Teeth outpost inside the Embarcadero Center seems to prove otherwise. Nowadays, you don’t have to trek out to the westside to get the bakery’s well-loved biscuit breakfast sandwiches and baked goods including cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, scones, quiches, and cookies. Note: There’s no real seating here but you can take your meal to one of the many seating areas around the center." - Matt Tillquist

While visiting SF, I researched places to get a great breakfast sandwich and many recommended Devil's Teeth - they were not wrong! I got the special breakfast sandwich - a little expensive, but it was fantastic. The biscuit was the star - buttery, flaky, savory; the salty bacon and the pepper jack cheese were a great contrast, and then the lemon aioli was a great binder to bring it together. I got a side of hot sauce and added a little - a great compliment and contrast to the sandwich, but it's great without this as well. It comes with 2 eggs and plenty of bacon, very filling. I also got a bacon cheddar beer muffin to go because it was unique - a very interesting, savory muffin, great flavor, not dry. There is no dine-in option and no tables, so be ready to eat on the go or find a spot. I would highly recommend finding a spot - the sandwich can get messy. I would highly recommend Devil's Teeth for the breakfast sandwich!

Devil’s Teeth Baking Company offers more than just fantastic sandwiches and friendly service; it’s also a cozy spot where you can browse through a selection of books while waiting your meal. The combination of great food, welcoming staff, and the chance to dive into a good read makes it a unique and enjoyable place to relax. Whether you’re there for a quick bite or some quiet time with a book, this bakery creates an inviting and comfortable atmosphere.

Super filling and delicious breakfast sandwich for a great price. Got the special breakfast sandwich and it was dripping with sauce and egg. Great way to start the day (albeit it does get a bit dry near the end, so maybe make sure you have some water close by)! Location is also right next to a small book store, which was nice to browse while waiting for my food. Spot was not busy at all at 10am when I visited. Highly recommend trying this spot out!

I am always searching for alternatives to chain coffee joints. I was thrilled to see that thanks to a city program called Vacant to Vibrant, Devil's Teeth expanded its baking empire to include a location in the Embarcadaro Center. This small independent bakery started in the Sunset and is well known for its baked goods and renowned as one of the best breakfast sandwiches in San Francisco. All that said, their BLT should not be overlooked. Served on sliced sourdough, the crisp bacon is balanced perfectly with fresh California tomatoes and lettuce. There is even a bit of Dijonaise in the sandwich. Of course, the coffee is excellent and is usually served before the sandwiches, giving you a chance to check out the selections of books courtesy of Green Apple Books, the shop that shares the space. If you are in the area, skip the chain shops and support a local business owner who puts their heart into everything they do.

Been wanting to try the breakfast sandwich from here for the longest time and was finally able to try it since it's super close to Bart. Came here on a Saturday and there wasn't a huge line, waited about 10 minutes and the special breakfast sandwich was ready. Overall it was pretty good, but the biscuit tasted pretty dry in my opinion. I personally enjoyed the scone more than the sandwich. Overall, if I'm in the area I would get, but I wouldn't come all the way to SF for this sandwich.

This was recommended as a must try in SF. A truly great meal to start the day, the biscuit based breakfast sandwich had plenty of avocado, eggs , crispy bacon & cheese. For me, I wish it was a tiny bit saltier (egg?) especially when buying parts of it where the bacon was not included in the bite. The hot sauce spicier too would be good.

Best breakfast sandwich in San Francisco. Need to go with the special and add a sausage. Don’t forget the hot sauce. Their carrot cake is also very delicious, super moist. Hoping this “pop up” stays!
