DeVitis Italian Market

The pizza at DeVitis Italian Market was absolutely divine. This morning, I had the pleasure of visiting this specialty market to procure some guanciale, as it seemed to be the only place to find it. I observed several individuals, who appeared to be construction workers, purchasing slices of pizza. Intrigued by the sight, I decided to indulge in a slice of the spinach tomato variety. Upon taking a bite, I was transported to a state of pure bliss. It was undoubtedly the most exceptional slice of pizza I have ever encountered. The market offers a delightful array of Italian food items. If you have not yet experienced this culinary treasure, I highly recommend adding it to your list of must-try experiences. As the saying goes, "I'll be back." I encourage you to treat yourself and pay them a visit.

1st time ever there and I fell in love with the friendly atmosphere. Employees were all had positive attitudes and were extremely helpful. Wide variety of products. From fresh made items to frozen ingredients. Wide selection of wine as well.

This place charged sales tax on NON ALCOHOLIC soft drinks throughout the Ohio sales tax holiday August 1 - 14, 2025. I didn't worry about it on August 1, but I asked the cashier about it on August 14 after the third time this happened to me. She said the store can choose not to participate in it. When I told her that is not true, the old guy bagging groceries said he didn't know anything about it. I think one of their relatives is in the state legislature, so they should be familiar with state law. The store was probably charging tax and keeping the money. I was previously willing to overlook the very overpriced food, but now I think this place is crooked and will stop going there.

stopped by on a whim and was welcomed by the yummy smell inside. We got their italian sub/chips/drink meal and the sub was DELICIOUS! The bread was super soft. Got a few desserts as well and they definitely were made with love. Didn't get a picture because I was savoring my sub. Happy to shop local!:)

Eleven dollars for a pound of “Italian chestnuts, and the first six of the seven I peeled were MOLDY. What if I were using them for stuffing? And the seven dollar Sicilian pizza is stale . To be fair, the rest of the stuff we bought was just fine. We have a tradition of going to this store every Christmas Eve (besides the one or two times during the year when we’re up that way), and have an evening-long celebration for just the two of us. Just not going to buy chestnuts next time. I wish the dried ones were back.

This is a great local market. It's been in business for several generations. The store is clean and well-managed. Definitely worth checking out.

We recently moved to Ohio from NJ. We have been looking for a good Italian Deli with some good sausage. Well we found it!! The sausage is absolutely delicious and we also tried the rolls and those were very good also. We cooked the sausage on a charcoal grill and it was out of this world!!

Amazing in every way. Highly recommend it for any of your needs. People are always friendly and their food is the best.

I have had better pizza in a gas station back when I was younger and was good with buying gas station pizza. That was most definitely the most mediocre pizza I have ever had. I even went with a slice that they just pulled from the oven. On a better note, I have had their Italian Hoagies (cold) those were pretty good. If your high-end pizza is a Luigis, DeCheckos or Maries (wadsworth) and your mid threshold would be like a Gioninos, Marcos, Pizza Hut; this pizza here is way below the mids it would be at the low end actually below Speedway Gas Station, Little Ceasars, and Dominos. I was actually surprised I really expected way more from an Italian Market. Girlfriend absolutely loves the cannoli's, super expensive though; I think just under $7 for 2 of them.

Best Spumoni ever. Would drive across the state for this - but I live close enough so I don't have to. A 5 star treat.

I haven't been here in 20 years, I gotta make an effort to stop by more often. Friendly, old school service. We started at the deli counter. They offer several products imported from Italy. I recommend the mortadella and capacola. Wow, they offered us samples and sliced everything perfectly. You could almost see through the mortadella! Who am I kidding, I picked up some Sicilian pizza, imported pecorino romano, bronze cut pasta and their wonderful cream pancetta sauce. Don't be turned off by the cream, there is just a hint of it in the sauce. It has a little spicy bite but is well balanced. I'm definitely getting this again. To top things off we picked up a box of Italian lemon cookies. The service was so friendly. I started bagging up my items when a nice young man rushed over and bagged things up and offered to carry them out to our car. That's service! I will be back!

Pizza was good. The white pizza was our favorite. Nice family friendly atmosphere. Cash only.

Love DeVitis Italian market. They have a wonderful variety of cheese and their homemade Italian sausage is the best! Huge wine selection, delicious lunches and homemade meals. And you must get the Massoli twist bread, homemade in Akron!

Great Italian specialty shop! I always pick up a meatball sub. The meatball premix packets are great for making your own at home!

Meat platter and vegetable platter were great. Ravioli was good but i thought a bit mushy.

This a great place for your pastas and deli needs. It probably has the best meat ball subs in the area. You can get one whole or deconstructed to take home and eat. The people are great and I have never had anything I didn't like from there.

Ok for the most part this is a great establishment in the area and has been a staple for years. I am just being picky on 1 aspect. I been in here to shop. But never had a sandwich or take out. Decided today I was going to pick up a sandwich for dinner. A good Italian sub from an Italian grocery figured it had to be good. It was just OK. I got the Italian Super Sub. All pre made in a case. So you don't get to watch them make it you get the assembly line version. Looked fresh. Bought peppers as well and some chips. Sandwich is just meat and cheese. No extras or dressing or anything else. Plain sub. Seems I could get a better sub at subway. At least I could add some veggies and peppers, dressing too. The sub roll is good. Quality of meats and cheese is there but more bread than meat/cheese. And nothing else. I added Italian dressing and the peppers I bought to zing it up. It was just blah. And I paid $10 for it. The fact that I had to add to it makes it totally not worth it. Best part we're the potato chips. Some generic brand that was awesome! Crunch and salty good. The salads and sides were also in the case and behind the counter. You can get all types of you like. I just didn't want to pay $30 for lunch/dinner. So I passed. Lunch or dinner should be a quick grab. Less than $15 bucks $10 is better than out the door. This was not that. I know prices are up. But $28 for a mediocre sub, peppers, chips, is not worth it. They have a brisk lunch biz. Good for them. Just expected more or better. They do have meatball and sausage subs they make fresh to order. They looked good. Maybe I'll try that next. If I go back. Haven't decided. Plenty of parking, quick in and out for the most part as well.

You can't beat this place for their authenticity, service, and quality Italian foods. I've been going to this market with my family since I was a child. It's not large, and during certain holidays (especially Christmas) it can be a bit chaotic and crowded. That said, this family owned Akron institution is so well run and organized that you can be in and out quickly even during peak hours. They offer their own sauces, homemade heat and eat pasta dishes, locally sourced bread, and the highest quality Italian meats and cheeses. They also have daily lunch specials that Akronites have feasted upon for decades. If they made a candle that smelled like DeViti's, I'd buy 1000 of them and keep them lit in my house year round. This place is the best.

If you live in Akron or the bear 'burbs, you should go here weekly. Fresh food, fantastic deli, great frozen, homemade dinners, sandwiches, desserts and professional, friendly staff. An Akron Grm for many years.

Very nice people that work here. It's your average sized store, but the best in the area. I wish they offered more hot foods during the day, and that the prices were a little lower though.

Nice Italian deli that covers the bases. The deli counter has specialties like cappicola, sopressatta and mortadella. There's a nice selection of olives and cheeses. Hard to find pastas are there too like my favorite bucatini. Fresh bread, prepared foods and even bottled beer. Wish it were closer to our house.

I love this little market. It's right by my house and super convenient. Anything you need to make anything Italian, you'll find it here. I find myself going there non stop to get their tiramisu. It is the best I have ever had. Then they have a great little deli there where I ALWAYS get my hot capicola when I make Stromboli. I also love buying their balls of dough to make homemade pizza as well as their amazing fresh mozzarella. If you haven't tried their frozen strudels to take home and make, you are 100% missing out. The only thing in that whole entire store I would direct you to stay away from is the cannoli candy bar they have by checkout. It's trash. But everyone is so nice there and I would be devastated if they every closed down.

Set friendly staff. French made foods including pastas and cookies. Had to get fresh mozzarella balls.

I was in the neighborhood. So I decided I would stop and see what this small Italian market had to offer. I was impressed with the selection of Italian food. I will be back for sure.

This North Akron family owned landmark has been serving quality Italian fare and imorted food products for years - and it hasn't slowed down a bit. While not a large store, they have everything you'll need whether it's olive oil, pasta, tomato paste, or cannolis! So stop by and check it out, you'll be glad you did!

Can't go wrong if you want homemade Italian pasta and sauce to go! Family business has been around for at least 70 years.

Great family owned store for several generations. They only have the freshest food. Everything they have is good, everyone always friendly.

I live in Los Angeles. I would fly to Akron to get another (large) Italian hoagie with a side of roasted peppers. I am not exaggerating. Their lemon ricotta cookies and antipasto are fricking phenomenal as well! Wish we had a place like DeVitis on the west coast! :( :(

I drive through the Akron area when I'm heading to Chicago or Michigan from the Washington DC area. Why? There are some foodie gems here and this is one of them. The question is really "Why have I not stopped here sooner? Why have I only found this place now!?" I love Italian delis, you can find amazing imported pasta and homemade sauce in places like this. As I searched for an Italian Deli in the Akron area, this popped up with amazing reviews. I wanted to stock pile the Italian subs from the back wall and take home all the pepperoni bread but luckily my cooler in my car would not be able to hold the stash. I bought a couple items. They were so yummy that on my way back to the DC area I planned my drive so I could pass by DeVitis again. I picked up subs and extras like pasta and more sauce, which you can buy already in a jar. If you want hot (temperature wise) sauce, just ask them in the back and they'll put it in a plastic container for you. Seriously, don't even bother making your own sauce, just get it here!!

Family owned businesses and very family with teaching kids the price of money and how businesses works, it's just a family thing it's like a mom and pop shop vibe to me i'm not sure the history behind it but i really grew up there. the food is soo good very good with side dishes for any kind of celebration. Don't even get me started on how good the service is! very kind and generous people in the shop would work with anything

We love DeVitis for all of their Italian foods! They have the best prepared food, and their sauce is to die for. They also have a great sandwich, chips and drink special at lunchtime. A great little market with a huge selection.

I can't say enough! Best market in town. Cabbage rolls are delicious. Good prices for Italian fare.

What can I say. Its smell so good as soon as you walk in. If you love Italian food, you'll love it . Pasta sauce is authentic. Try the meatballs, the lasagna. They also have great selection of Olives and Italian cheeses. All the sausage are homemade, the Sicilian is my favorite.

Don't miss this local treasure, its old world and very cool. In a time of mega grocery stores this stands alone as a family owned Italian market. You simply have to do this... take your kids, take your mother-in-law Its a trip back in time, and you need it. Ask questions at the deli counter, taste real food, they give samples and will be patient with you. Buy something you have never eaten before... and get a new favorite.

So dmn good man it's literally perfect every time!! Pasta salad is my favorite but the subs & food!! The tuna salad croissant sandwich I had today was immaculate no exaggeration I literally can't describe enough how good my food was today & always is here!! Great family business

Going to DeVitis is always such a treat for me. I remember going with my mom as a kid and enjoying the delicious deli meat and cheese samples on our way home from the market knowing an awesome sandwich was in store when we got home. Now, as an adult, I can treat myself to some fine Italian goods anytime I find myself in the North Hill area of Akron or sometimes I even plan a special trip there just for DeVitis. The things I ALWAYS get from the deli include capocollo, salami (esp. in one of the varieties not generally found in a regular grocery), ham, and then the sharpest provolone and asiago they can slice. Put these five ingredients on a hoagie roll with a little homemade olive oil and red wine dressing with some herbs and and you've got yourself a pretty fine sandwich. For special events or parties their deli platters make for an amazing spread of superior quality selections and come with olives and a generous bag of rolls for sandwiches. I also enjoy their frozen pesto and alfredo sauces, the freshly grated pecorino romano, parmesan, and fresh ricotta and mozarella. They have frozen pizzas that look fantastic and a variety of frozen and dried pasta in whatever shapes and combos your heart desires. Their fresh Italian sausage is offered in mild, hot, and Sicilian varieties (all wonderful) and they have great fresh produce and other canned goods plus a great selection of fresh breads. The prepared foods section of their deli is also fantastic with great olive blends and aspirational looking slices of lasagna as big as my face that look suuuuper tempting. Everytime I go, I curse myself I don't work close enough nearby to stop in for their lunch sandwich combo special or any of the other specialty prepared selections during the week.

This specialty shop is always a stop when I'm working around Akron. Clean place & nice sandwich's.The owner is pretty personable and tried to help me locate an old Italian staple no longer Imported. YUM

We love DeVitis Italian Market! From fresh subs to frozen oven-ready dinners, they have all kinds of delicious items. We've also used them to cater parties, and everyone always raves about the delicious food. All of their main dishes are made in-house, and the business is family-owned.

What to say about DeVitis? They are amazing. They have great lunch deals in the hot bar & the chilled sandwiches. I'm not a fan of macaroni salad but I could have theirs every single day. It's delicious! The store is clean and everyone working seems pretty happy to be there. Now that I'm reminding myself about the macaroni salad, I may have to run over there tomorrow at lunch to pick some up along with whatever else looks good at the moment. Pick up lunch or dinner here and you won't be disappointed!

Love this Akron staple! We get the meatballs and freeze them so we always have them on hand. Great selection of prepared foods and harder to find ingredients. Wonderful service as well.

Devitis is excellent! I come from Columbus and use them quite often for business. The catering is amazing, the deli foods are high quality and not your normal deli, the staff is extremely friendly and the store is very clean. It's always busy, but the entire staff is so efficient. The food is always consistent. This is top of the line! Devitis is 5 star all day long...everyday!!!

They actually have pretty decent stuff. I usually get a cheese dip from the refrigerated section. It's small, idk if it's family owned but they seem like they make everything from scratch. I didn't have any complaints and I've been twice.

Easy access right off the highway. Freshly made Sandwiches were ready to go. Just Had to pick up some authentic biscotti and bread sticks while I was there. Yum!

Literally everything I have ever bought out of DeViti's is delicious. Hot, cold, cook it yourself or just warm it up. It's all delicious. If you haven't been please go, everyone is so genuinely nice & again everything is delicious. Lasagna, pasta salad, tortellini salad, meatballs, Italian wedding soup, I could name so much more. Check them out!

Cute store with all my needs for Italian cooking. Love that you carry La Florentine torrone which I buy every year for family Christmas presents per tradition. The pre made sandwiches are a great treat and we buy them often for road trips or tailgating. You also can't beat their lunch deal! The prepared foods are delicious and I like to get the eggplant Parm. Nice assortments of wine and frozen food to stock up on.

Ok, interesting place, great sandwiches, however... The meat case is lacking. The store has little to select. I would have like to seen more Italian specialties.
