9 Must-Try Dishes in Grenada - AFAR

"Near the cruise ship terminal in Saint George’s, this is the island go‑to for oil down when you can’t snag a backyard pot — a thick, comforting stew of coconut milk, breadfruit, callaloo, chicken, pork, turmeric, and spices. The labor‑intensive specialty isn’t always on the menu, but when available it’s classic Caribbean comfort food; if the kitchen isn’t cooking, several vendors in the Saint George’s market often sell the dish." - Terry Ward

Deyna's is a great, quant hotel. Nice location near bus terminal and cruise ship terminal. Good food at the adjoining restaurant. The only caution is if you have bad knees. There are a lot of stairs. Every room has a mini frig. Staff is very helpful.

I haven't stayed at Deynas but I did order a takeaway from the restaurant downstairs and it went down a treat. A great size portion of food and the flavours were great. I will come back during my next visist to Grenada.

A nice simple inn with extremely friendly staff. Its located near the bus terminal so getting public transportation is easy also they have a dinner so getting food is convenient . Only down side is the stairs to the rooms

When I travel for work I am usually looking for locations close to the ports. Deyna’s was a three minute walk from the cruise terminal. |The customer service was very good, very friendly, very helpful. Room was clean and had what I needed (fridge, coffee making supplies). The WiFi was very good, too. |This is not a place for people with mobility issues as there are lots of stairs. |Loved the character of the place. |Views from the balcony below.

Stayed for five nights in early March. Hotel is centrally situated, opposite bus station and with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful, advising me each day on which attractions to visit and which bus to take to get there. ||The room I had was spotlessly clean and of a good size with a very comfy bed. The air-conditioning was very efficient. ||Breakfast, served in the downstairs restaurant-cum-takeaway, was very tasty and filling, and was served by a charming lady who explained what each item was that she was putting on my plate!||When I visit Grenada again I shall certainly stay at Deyna's City Inn.

Deyna’s is quite unlike anywhere else I have stayed, and thus quite hard to grade. The staff are universally polite, pleasant, welcoming and willing. The room in which I stayed was spotlessly clean, air-conditioned and, on the whole, quite charming.||There were, however, 58 steep steps to negotiate from street level to my room and it was a real struggle up a narrow staircase that kept twisting around sharp bends. Climbing or descending with luggage was perilous in the extreme and, even without luggage, one was gasping for breath in the tropical heat of Grenada.||The other issue I had was the absence of hot water. I stayed for six nights and had a cold shower on six mornings. The staff’s assurance that mine was the only room without hot water did little to comfort me and I was not offered any compensation for my inconvenience. ||The location is central, so central in fact that it is opposite the main bus terminus with its constant throng of people and tannoy announcements from about 7:15 am until 9:00 pm.
