I had heard good things about this place from a few people, so when the chance came up to go, I was happy to give it a shot. The food is amazing! I went with a large group, and everyone very much enjoyed it. Unusual for a mall food court, they brought it to our table, which was a nice extra touch. This place is absolutely worth going to.

Google
One of the best samosas I’ve had in my life, reminded me of all of my childhood memories when I would get those exact same samosas from the local Bakery. Amazing food and service as well. Peter was very helpful and informative of all the different foods and cultures regarding the foods. Overall a great experience and definitely recommend! Especially the samosas!!

Google
My wife and I decided to try this place out after passing by it many times during our mall walking, and boy are we glad we did! We ordered butter chicken, chicken biryani, samosas, and garlic naan. Everything was very flavorful and perfectly spiced. Generous portions too which is great! The owner was very nice and appreciative of our business, which is great to see. We'll for sure be back and we'll recommend it to our friends and family!

Visited Michigan and ordered Indian food from this place. I must say they have the best Indian food in town. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back and try this place again. They have the best Butter chicken and channa Masala!

Google
Tried the Lamb korma along with naan. Delicious with the right level of spices and flavor. Talked to the owner who is very friendly, honest, and kind hearted. The food was nicely packaged and remained hot when I bought it home. Nice experience, would highly recommend giving it a try. Will revisit in the near future.

We ordered butter chicken, chicken biryani, garlic naan, and samosas. Everything had good spices/flavor and tasted great! Food was hot and prepared quickly. Portion size was good too and we had leftovers of both meals. We will be back!

Dhaba Indian Kitchen comes to my work (HFH) under the Fooda program. I’m so happy that I tried the food one day when I didn’t bring my own lunch. I had the Butter Chicken and Samosas. The Samosas were so good that I sent a co-worker to get me 2 more (I had 3 total) on a trip down to the cafeteria. Butter chicken was very flavorful. I loved both dishes so much that I encouraged co-workers and an Indian patient’s wife to go try the food. Everyone who was able to get the food before the service was over loved it. The wife made it down too late to try. :( I’ve been watching for them to return to my work so that I can get more of the delicious food. I see they are coming again soon and you can bet I’ll be getting food again. They turned me into an Indian food lover.

Google
New Punjabi style Authentic Indian restaurant that opened in the Laurel park food court that is much needed! For the last few years, this food court has been completely empty and very sad looking. I'm glad this restaurant moved in, and hopefully, it does well enough to last. Friendly staff, with great butter chicken and samosas!

Yelp
This is a mom and pop indian place. Hands down the best indian take out food in the tri county area. The butter chicken is what my husband always gets but i love the lamb biryiani or the chicken korma. The naan is incredible. Good flavors, preparation is always spot on, and if there is ever anything wrong, they bend over backwards to make it right. Ive been coming here for at least 8years -Nothing is microwaved and i have yet to eat a bad dish.

Chloe F.

Yelp
I had Dhaba at St Joe's hospital one day and for a "fast food" style way of serving in the cafeteria it was tasty and even a little spicy! I can't wait to try them at their brick and mortar.

Madhuri

Yelp
Horrible food and service. The owner needs training in customer service. Palak paneer from this place has crushed paneer in gravy - yuck! Naan from this restaurant is really small. Check your order! We were charged for our order but not all items were given. No apology for the miss either! Will never go back.

Yelp
Great Indian food located in the food court of Laurel Park Place! 10/10 recommend. Service was nice and quick

Yelp
They are inside of a gas station. Small place. No dine-in at all. Big kitchen. We ordered the aloo gobi, butter chicken, dal makhani and Chana masala. I am bummed they don't have any Dosa or bhindi masala at all, two items that make our Indian meal complete. Limited menu due to its size, most likely. $42 total. They have been here for 7 years. Super friendly family that runs it. Food would take about 10-15 minutes to make it for us. The owner gave me a little ramekin of pickled vegetables with her meal. She let me know that there was no wheat in it at all. A couple of the other people waiting here said the food was good. That's why you never know where the good foods are located. Kept an open mind. The food was stacked in the paper bag and in a second plastic bag. Each of the Styrofoam containers were wrapped with foil wrapping too. All of the food was still hot after a 25 minute drive home. The lentils are good. I forgot to ask for all of the dishes to be medium spice. They must've just made it a regular or mild spice instead. The Channa masala is good. I can taste bits of fresh ginger in it and it has good flavoring to it. The Dal Makani is good. It's chock full of little pieces of brown lentil in it. It's quite tasty. The aloo gobi has lots of potatoes in it, it has so much more potatoes than cauliflower, that's a good thing. It's quite good as well. Not super saucy, more of a dry sauce. The butter chicken is super creamy. It's more creamy than it is sweet or spicy. It's not bad, too milky and creamy for my taste though. The service here is good. Food was also good as well.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about Dhaba Indian Kitchen and I think the 3 star rating is appropriate here... At a high level, I went into the restaurant expecting great value while in a modest package (especially since everyone called back to the roots of this style of restaurant). I think they deliver on the experience of finding good tasting food in an unexpected location... but I'm afraid that might be extent of it. From a pragmatic perspective, Dhaba Indian Kitchen makes it easy to order and pick up food (online ordering is available, and there's an easy way to pick up once you enter the storefront -- definitely appreciated during the pandemic. The value proposition is what gets me. The taste of the food is solid, but not amazing... From my perspective, there are 3 elements that you can tweak here: taste, appeal, and price. In my experience so far, Dhaba provides decent taste, but too much of the appeal leans on how the restaurant is presented, and the prices are too high for just decent food. I'd expect either amazing food for this kind of price, or a lower price showing this as a value option. As it stands, it's just not a compelling choice among the numerous Indian takeout options in the area.

Yelp
You wrote a review for Dhaba Indian Kitchen 2 minutes ago 2/28/2021 Dhaba Indian Kitchen is a hidden gem located inside of the BP Gas Station. Our friends told us about this place and we had to try it! We ordered samosas, naan, Kadai lamb, and Baingan Bharta. You can order the food mild, medium, or hot. We selected medium all around and it was pretty spicy! The two entrees came with rice. Overall, it was a lot of food for two but we ate it all because it was so tasty! We look forward to ordering Dhaba again!

Gab D.

Yelp
Finally got to order from this place after hearing how delicious it was! I ordered the butter chicken with a side of garlic naan. Both were really good!! I ordered with medium spice and it came out perfect and quite flavorful. I'm obsessed with naan so the garlic naan was definitely a winner. I do wish there was more to choose from on the menu for meat dishes and the prices were a tad high but overall everything was great.

Yelp
Overall the food is pretty darn good. The sizes are small for the price, but the taste supercedes that. I think their sizes are more of a lunch portion. The portion leaves you wanting for more if this is your dinner. When they first moved over to Laurel Park Place we kept getting told they would open by a certain date that actually was months later. We found other Indian restaurants to satisfy our palate until they finally opened. They opened with very few items on their menu, and VERY limited hours. They have added a few more items, but nothing compared to their menu when they were in the gas station off of Haggerty Road. We have missed their Malai Kofta, and Chicken Tikka, amongst a few items. A lot of their sauces taste like the same basic sauce with maybe a basic addition of a different spice or two added to the specific dish. We noticed that they stopped filling their carry-containers as full as well. If they are going to make it in this area they need to give you enough to fill your container properly, possibly offer two sizes... a lunch or dinner. I am not talking about the lunch bowls they now have, but the individual white carry out containers. Their hours are only Thurs.-Sun. which really limits when you want to fill your tummy. The owners are nice. The Mrs. Is a very warm and chatty woman, but she is never there anymore. It would help if they did an advertising blitz in Livonia, Farmington Hills, and Northville. The taste of their food is truly top tier. Probably in the top 5 Indian restaurants in the surrounding area. This is a compliment to the highest degree considering the amount of Indian cuisine in the area. There are lots. Bring back the Malai Kofta and the Chicken Tikka.

Yelp
Get the Butter Chicken! It's awesome! Everything is very good! Extremely friendly service too. You can grab an adult beverage at the indoor store while you are there. It's a gas station, so don't let that stop you from ordering! You will love it! Very quick to get my order. Can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu! Butter Chicken and get it spicy! I got the middle level, next time I'm gonna have the hot spicy !

J. W.

Yelp
Standard Indian fare with kind and quick service. Garlic naan is perfect. Chicken in the tikka masala is a little firm (normally tikka masala chicken is incredibly tender), but the sauce is tasty and onion-forward. Amount of food is about average for the price in town. Would recommend to anyone looking to fill an Indian food craving.

Rob X.

Yelp
Great takeout Indian restaurant. Price is reasonable and the quality is very good. I like their lamb butter masala and their samosas. No frills place that is good for takeout only.

Brittany B.

Yelp
butter chicken is delicious! the chicken is so tender and fresh and the sauce has really good flavor, although it is creamier than spicy. the prices are really great for the portion sizes.

Sayaka Y.

Yelp
Their curry isn't overly spicy. But yet very flavorful. This place is so far my favorite restaurant when I crave for Indian curry. All Indian restaurant that I been to are really spicy even though I ask for mild. I can enjoy their curry without overwhelmed by spiciness and my all kids loves it too. I highly recommend this place. They are located inside gas station. Who knew you can get good from gas station.

Jaime C.

Yelp
Dhaba Indian Kitchen catered a luncheon for our office yesterday - this was my first time trying their food and it won't be my last! The food was flavorful and perfect. They had a variety of dishes that were all good at varying spice levels. As far as the catering - from my perspective it was well organized and clean. The presentation was professional and easy to access amongst my colleagues.

Sri C.

Yelp
Heard good things about this place and finally decided to give it a shot. For me it was Sub par taste and limited quantity. Another place that is one and done for me. If I still have an hankering for Indian food, if I go down south 2 more miles, prob have better and broader options.

Vaibhav A.

Yelp
They tried bring punjabi style food. But its not what you can expect from a punjabi dhaba still okay based on the indian food standard in USA

David V.

Yelp
Ashu warmly greeted us, such an outstanding first impression! We ordered the samosas, Chicken Biryani (North Indian), butter chicken and naan. We loved it! Samosas were to die for with their chick pea chutney, You could order two orders of that and leave satisfied, but then you miss the wonderful blend of flavors in the Biryani! Generous portion of dark meat with a perfect blend of spices and rice that will keep you coming back for more! Thank you for the great service and wonderful food! What better way to celebrate our 16th anniversary , content with enjoying simple pleasures!

Olivia L.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious carry out spot! The employees were incredibly nice and foos was top notch.

Kirsten K.

Yelp
Got via grub hub and food was delivered right on time and correctly. Rice was aromatic and delicious. Chicken tikka masala has veggies in it which was nice but wish it was a bit spicier (I ordered medium, will go with hot next time). Malai kofta was good and big portion with 6 balls. Naan was tasty but not the best I've had. May be partially due to delivery time. Overall a solid place for Punjabi takeout!! Will definitely order again.

Vaishnavi S.

Yelp
When we moved to the area there was a lot of talk amongst friends about a desi food place situated in a gas station. This immediately brought back fond memories of Dhabas in India - basically roadside eateries serving authentic local fare at reasonable prices. Our visit here though was pretty disappointing and I'll share why. The place itself was very drab looking - I get the concept of a Dhaba but that really doesn't mean boring looking. Nothing exceptional about the food either - average tasting if I could sum it up. And the prices are definitely on the higher end plus super stingy portion sizes. Mind you its a super basic takeaway counter. Very disappointed that this place didn't turn out the way we expected.

Shay P.

Yelp
If you are looking for unique Indian flavors that consistently deliver on taste and quality, Dhaba Indian Kitchen is it. It's a carry out only, and dishes are all priced accordingly.Their chutneys - tamarind and onion served with samosas are to die for. I am a foodie and have eaten at many many Indian restaurants but nothing comes close to these in flavor and authenticity. Dal makhani, shahi paneer, saag paneer were all perfectly seasoned and delicious. Hands down the best indian restaurant!!!

Jopet L.

Yelp
Service is very friendly and i just tasted their chicken curry sooo good i havent had good curry in a while, something hits different in this place will be back for more

Mark B.

Yelp
Just had it for the first time. Amazingly spicy chicken curry yet with the perfect taste. The spice doesn't over do the flavor despite it being pretty spicy, which is how I like it. Just absolutely delicious. Best Indian food in the area by far.

Sk I.

Yelp
Butter chicken, garlic naan and paneer pakora. Where to start? Um, go here and order anything on the menu. The butter chicken was seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly and tasted perfect. The garlic naan was to die for..... The pakora was amazing... I love this place...

Matt W.

Yelp
Gas station Indian food.... Aren't you just asking for it if you roll the dice on that? Let me assure you that this is one cliche that does not fit! I ordered the Butter Chicken, the Dal Mahkani, and the Butter Nahn. I've been to India 7 times and this was as authentic as anything I ate over there. It wasn't the best Dal I've ever had but it was right up there. The Butter Chicken was the bomb and seasoned perfectly. One tip.... When they ask how spicy you want the food.... Know that whatever you order is going to be pretty spicy. I love a little heat but my request for medium level spice was almost too much for me. I saw two downsides to the experience that were minimal. First, there is only take out.. That can be hard if you're a part of the hotel crowd like I was. The second is the location. There is only a small sign on the front of the gas station and no street sign at the road. This makes it very hard to find. However.... The treasure was worth the hunt! They encouraged me to order through Yelp! Next time to expedite my order. Had I know more about it I would have. Don't miss this awesome food if you're looking for good Indian Food in Detroit!

Anita B.

Yelp
Someone recommended this carry out only Indian food place, located in the BP. It really has great food! We had the buttered chicken and 2 vegetarian dishes that came with basmati rice. We ordered the roti and naan. My kids loved our dinner selections! Convenient location to also ad a soft drink etc.

Ed G.

Yelp
Pretty consistent good food, I have no complaints. Go for these guys if you want deceit indian food,

Fleur B.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Indian cuisine from all regions, but this food is really exceptional! The flavors are perfectly balanced, the meat perfectly moist and flavorful, and the dishes are topped with a healthy dose of fresh herbs! The cherry on top: the management is warm and incredibly welcoming. They treated me and my child very sweetly. You will pleasantly be surprised to find such amazing quality food coming out of a gas station .... This totally beats that sad gas station coffee and greasy rotating sausages. ... GO to Dhaba right NOW! You will be so very glad you made the choice :-)

Christopher P.

Yelp
Fantastic Indian food! and yes, in a gas station!! Go and try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

J R.

Yelp
I am still amazed that a BP gas station contains one of the best fresh Indian food take out places in Northville. Naturally I had the delicious Naan bread and tried the chef special chicken tikka. Both were very good and tasty.

Binnan O.

Yelp
Ambiance: Place is right inside to the right when you enter the gas station. It's pretty obvious they're renting the place and using part of it to for storage. There is no real good sitting or waiting area really so be prepared to sit in your car or stand awkwardly while your food is being prepared. The mom that owns the place was super nice however and our food was ready in about 10-15 minutes. Don't be surprised if they ring you up with their iPad, they're keeping overhead to a minimum. Food: We got the chicken korma and chicken tikka masala with a side of garlic naan. Both dishes were surprisingly good with nice complex flavors and tender chicken. It wasn't the best indian food i've had but it is definitely a notch or two over your standard mediocre-fare. We got our dishes "medium" and they weren't really spicy at all to our pepper-hardened palates. The naan had a good texture but was very plain and flavorless like it needed salt or some more yogurt. Dhaba, as it says on the menu, refers to a road-side food station so its no suprise they decided to set up near a gas station. Definitely don't let that fact put you off as it is remarkably good considering neighboring indian options. I would gladly come here again although maybe during the lunch special as the $11-14 prices for the dishes seem a little steep. The portions are filling however those prices can buy you a sit-down experience and comparable flavors in a different part of town. Definitely worth checking out.

Pat A.

Yelp
This place rocks. I love Indian cuisine. Some have been good some terrible. This is hands down the best I've ever had. No kidding. I ordered the most popular dishes at Indian restaurants. Everyone of them was outstanding. I'm nota fan of cilantro, and they accommodated the dishes the best they could to remove it from the meal. Do not hesitate going to this place because it's in a gas station, it blew me away the flavors they achieved on each dish. Keep rocking it out. I will be back soon.

Sonia S.

Yelp
This place has the best Indian food and excellent customer service. I highly recommend the chicken dishes. It was very delicious and full of flavor.

Maaz A.

Yelp
Okay, so I haven't posted a Yelp review in a while and this restaurant has made me want to start reviewing all over again. Let's start with the location. As everyone else has mentioned in their reviews, this is a place inside of a gas station and it seems like such a cool thing to me. It is honestly very unique and something that reminds me of back home for me. There are a lot of places similar to this back in Pakistan and India and so I respect that they stick to what they do best, the food. They are a carryout place because the food is the hero and they aren't trying to impress you with a fancy dining area. You walk in hungry and you leave with food to eat. Now the food, the food is right. There isn't much more to describe it as. It isn't pretending to be anything. THIS IS REAL INDIAN FOOD made the right way. The last time I had a naan cooked in a TANDOOR, I was actually half-way across the world and the naan here was the just as good if not better. And the winner of the "Best Indian Dish I Have Had This Side of The Ocean award" goes to the Butter Chicken dish that I just had for lunch. I will be craving this and I know I will be back to get more of it. Overall: The location is unique and awesome, the price is a bit high but easily worth it because the food is the best Indian food that I have had in Michigan.

Jasmin J.

Yelp
This place is located in the BP gas station and is super close to my house. I've been wanting to try this place so I got delivery. All the food in the picture I took cost a whopping $30 plus tip. It is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced and you get basically no food. The butter chicken was actually very good, it was super flavorful and piping hot! The gobi manchurian wasn't my favorite. It was weirdly sweet, kind of like Chinese orange chicken with a random kick of spice at the end. I didn't care for it but my sister liked it because it tasted like Chinese orange chicken. The naan wasn't good. It cost $3 for one garlic naan and it was pretty hard on the outside. Usually whenever I get naan, it's thick and fluffy but the ones here are thin, wasn't a huge fan. The samosas were pretty good, the crust was nice and thick and the potato and peas were flavorful, it was just sitting in a pool of oil when I got them. The savory chutney was very good, I wasn't a fan of the sweet chutney. I think for the amount of food you are getting and it being from a gas station the entrees should not be more than $8-9, $13 for that small takeout box of butter chicken is robbery, even if the flavor is there.

Steven S.

Yelp
Ordered carry out. Item didn't get placed in bag but was charged. Called and asked politely if they would deliver missing item.....immediately, the employee accused me and the delivery guy of stealing. He became belligerent, obnoxious and told me if I wanted my missing food, I must drive to the restaurant and get it. Keep in mind, I was calm and on speaker phone so my wife could hear what I was being subjected to. His overreaction was completely unnecessary and unprovoked. When I asked him to stop yelling at me, he hung up. I truly thought I was being punked. While you may think there is another side to this story, I can assure you there isn't. This is highly disappointing as I have ordered here numerous times without incident and the food has been excellent. This experience was unacceptable and I will not order here again.

K S.

Yelp
A guy I work with (from India) recommended to give this place a try. Pretty good Yelp rating too. Okay! I go there and this grumpy (turns out to be cook) takes my order. I'm already thinking bad about to spend my hard-earned money. When I present Yelp coupon, he said he doesn't know anything about it and tell me to call Yelp to place the food order. Huh? You got Yelp sticker right on your cash register and counter top! I try to explain what Yelp is (and that the store coupon doesn't just magically show up!) but he continues to say, I'm just a cook and don't know anything even though he has no problem operating the cash register. I asked if he could call or talk to the owner about it (at this point, I'm getting annoyed at his attitude and a lack of customer service spirit), but of course, he doesn't want to do it. Why couldn't he say, "I don't know anything about how to handle the Yelp coupon. Let me try to call the owner"? So simple yet shows the person is trying. It's not about the coupon but why the restaurant would put this rude person with a complete lack of customer service spirit in this position? I've politely requested my order to be cancelled and left. I'll never go back there. There are many other good Indian food choices.

Erin M.

Yelp
I was a bit skeptical about gas station curry, but after reading the other reviews I decided to give it a try. It was absolutely top notch. I lived in India for a few years so I've had a lot of good (and a lot of bad) curry, and this was definitely one of the better ones I've had. One of the other perks is that you can grab yourself a tall can of beer from the gas station coolers to go along with it. What more do you need?

Rashmi R.

Yelp
Usually I don't do bad reviews but I had no choice ... the food was pricey and tasted bad it wasn't tasty at all... very disappointing

Tony Z.

Yelp
This is the real deal. There are a lot of decent Indian restaurants in the area but none I've tried are as good as Dhaba. Their food is on another level, just try the Butter Chicken and you'll understand what I mean.

Alexandra L.

Yelp
Wow! This was the most amazing find. My husband and I lived in India - Indian food snobs - and Dhaba is delicious. Some of the best food we've had since returning to the States. To think we got this lucky that we just happened to be staying at the hotel across the street! You have got to go.

Kristen G.

Yelp
The best Indian food! So flavorful and a good amount of spice. I love the malai kofta. Order was ready fast. The gals at the front were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. We got two full meals from the two entrees we ordered so I think the portion size is great. If I ever come back to Detroit I'll definitely eat here again.

Ra T.

Yelp
Tasty food, quality and quantity. They listen when you indicate a spice level. And the lady who takes your order is just so gracious, polite and very cordial. Our go to place when I don't want to cook

Mike T.

Yelp
I have eaten a lot of Indian food...many times in many places. This is by far the BEST Indian homemade cooking I have ever tasted in my life. The best places to eat are in the most unusual places. If your thinking gas station and Indian food don't go together. Think again. This is the ONlY Indian Food I will eat. It's authentic, flavorful, freshly made and it puts every Indian restaurant in the area to shame. YOU HAVE TO EAT here.... you won't be disappointed.

Aaron A.

Yelp
In from out of town often, stay at the Sheraton across the street, and always stop here. Get the #7 to start...had the Rogen Josh (#15) today as well, and both were amazing. Look past that it is a kitchen inside of a gas station convenience store.. 100% worth it. Flavor, on top of flavor, on top of flavor!

Rohit H.

Yelp
over-priced entrees at $13 per entree. the butter chicken was alright, but the mutton rogan josh was really salty. the garlic naans were on the expensive side ($3 per) and nothing to write home about for the price. i did a take-out and arrived well in time before they were about to close. the main chef was rude and couldn't care less.

Liz S.

Yelp
Excellent! Ordered for New Years Eve - food was wonderful and the owner was extremely friendly - helped me with my choices as a newbie to Indian food. Definitely recommend trying!!!

Mousa A.

Yelp
Ordered food it was full of grease and very little food for the price I paid and rude service
