"How did it strike you on arrival? This modern cylindrical, family-run hotel stands out in the middle of the low-rise Tiong Bahru heritage precinct. The lobby is compact but chic, with a recently refurbished designer lounge that’s open to the public for drinks. A short flight of stairs leads to the building’s only elevator that goes to the rooms. The overall effect is cosy and unintimidating. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Business travelers, flashpackers, hip young couples. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.A Deluxe Room. It was a decent size (118-square-feet) with large windows. I wasn’t expecting much from a small, mid-priced local property, but there were more than a few luxe touches including designer chairs, a pillow menu and a Handy phone. Loved the soft curve of the walls – the cylindrical shape of the building has a surprisingly soothing effect on the room interiors. Guests get free international calls to four designated countries. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The bed was comfy and had great support; pillows were oversized and could be too high for some. It’s worth noting that the room wasn’t completely soundproof so there was some traffic noise from the road below. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The mini-bar came with free soft drinks and juices, replenished daily. Fairly standard selection though. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Spacious asymmetrical bathroom with lush and large rain shower, plus a view of the Singapore cityscape through a glass panel. The hip bath and body products were Atelier Bloem by Malin+Goetz. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Faultless and free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Upper Place, the rooftop restaurant is a great place for dinner and drinks at sunset. Parking is limited – only nine spots. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The unique configuration of the room and sundowners at Upper Place. Bottom line: worth it, and why? It’s an almost-perfect storm of quality accommodations, buzzy surroundings (Tiong Bahru is hawker fare heaven) and affordable rates." - Audrey Phoon

I liked the area the hotel is in because of its easy access to the train stations(metro). Only 4min walk to 2 stations, which take you literally to most places of the metropolitan Singapore. The underground in Singapore is one of the best in the world and easiest to navigate. It is also modern and clean, and huge signage is detailed and is in abundance in and out of every station as well as underground and in the various platforms. D' Hotel also offers big rooms and the bed was very comfortable.

Firstly apologies for the length of this. I've tried to keep it concise buts its difficult when there was so much wrong. I should have done this months ago but it upset me just to think about it all, but determined now to share feedback.|I stayed at D'Hotel 6 months previously, in Feb 23, for 2 weeks and it was great so I booked again for Nov 23 paying over £2,000.|It was much more expensive then the previous stay but it was like a different hotel which had gone completely downhill. ||I paid the hotel directly through AMEX so it was fully paid for several weeks previously. It was a card I only use for booking flights so I didn't take it with me and the hotel would not honour the booking because of credit card fraud, even though I had stayed there recently. Amex said because the payment had been fully paid directly to the hotel, and cleared some weeks before, they should not have been querying it. The reception staff kept asking me to find an email or receipt with the full number of the credit card which I told them would not exist because of security as nowhere would list all the numbers. I found some receipts on email with the last 4 digits but they said that was not good enough. They said they would give me a few days to find proof that it was my card, but the next day I was asked to pay again with another card which I did as they had already locked us out of our room !! This was just the start of a long trip which was spoilt by then worrying about paying for such a big expense while we were away. Just a complete nightmare and so unnecessary. Especially in Singapore which one would think is ahead of technology and would understand how such payments work. We have travelled to many countries, over many years, booking in the same way and never having an issue. ||Then, as far as the accommodation goes, I had emailed the hotel to say we would be stayed a lengthy time and could we have a room away from the busy side of the road as the glazing is poor and its very noisy. But this was ignored, and although the room was large, the storage was poor - a wardrobe with 3 hangers each and 1 drawer between us. We couldn't unpack for 4 days until we were moved and given more hangers.|The room had 1 breakfast tea bag and 1 camomile tea bag, with some sachets of coffee and a water heater which we didn't know how to use and once we did it was hit and miss how much hot water it provided (previously there was a kettle). As tea drinkers we have never come across such a misery display of an assortment of 2 teabags. |No more bottled water.|1 small bath towel each (usually frayed) with no hand towels or flannels.|No more nice quality shampoos and soap.|Half a roll of toilet paper with none spare.|Shower spray didn't work properly in 1st room and 2nd room had no hot water for 3 days.|Bedding was flipped over rather than being changed.|Basically we had to ask for everything. Rather than asking the reception it was best to ask the cleaner. The management didn't seem to care. Whilst speaking to the staff on several occasions during the first few days, the manager (I assume the lady was the manager) would come out of her office (I guess to see who I was) and she would plump up the pillows in the reception area and then go back into her office.|The staff were apologetic referring to management "policy changes" to save money even though I actually paid 35% more than previously and for a worse room. I could go on with many other issues like difficult to reach plug, frayed bed linen, cracked sink, dusty shelves, old flooring, but the worst was when we were leaving I checked under the bed for anything we might have dropped and it was disgusting. I can only assume that cost cutting means that the cleaners only have time to clean the bare minimum.|After a few days we just stopped complaining as it was a waste of time and was spoiling our holiday. |I wrote to Agodo who contacted D'Hotel and the response from the hotel was that they had resolved our issues on the first day! I sent 20 photos to Agodo and they gave us compensation. Thank You Agodo. |D'Hotel needs to make some BIG changes. I suggest they need to review their "policy changes" and start investing in the hotel and make some improvements. Not only renovation, but they need to bring back the "luxury experience" that I had the first time I visited.

First impressions are quite dull… they try to make an effort with a little table set up of local biscuits and a coffee machine… the hygiene standards are eye opening as they don’t offer disposable stirrers. I can understand being green… but 1 teaspoon placed in a holder for common use? ||If it was a holder of clean spoons, each for one time use and then they washed it. That would be good effort to be green, but one to be shared. That’s an ick. ||We got the balcony room, room is big and spacious but it needs a refresh. The wardrobe sliding door connect to the lights was a joke, I could hear the sensor trying to desperately hard to click. ||Bath towels are also fraying… and the shower head is on one of those non 360 types. For the ladies who wish to take a quick shower without wetting our head… that would be pretty difficult. ||Mattress is really soft, so lucky we were just doing a night staycay… can’t imagine if I was a visiting tourist… my back would be so achy from poor sleeping posture. ||Parking is another joke! They have basement parking but all the lots have a cone on them. When I arrived, a security personal came out from the office situation beside the parking lots and instead of assisting to remove the cone after I asked him if it was ok to park. He gestured me to that I would have to remove the cone on my own. ||So much for hotel service. This might as well be a dorm. ||Overall… I’m pretty surprised this is under the Ascott group. As I’ve much enjoy my stays at other Ascott properties.

Room was big and I liked the layout. It was a corner room so it creates a more spacious image. The beds were clean and comfortable . Walking distance to the Tiong Bahru market as well as various cafes and porridge houses. Room had the basic requirements. No bidet in the toilet . Lobby serves free snacks and coffee or tea during the morning. The room price was a bit high for my standard but it was close to where I was headed to . Pleasant stay.

First of all, I would say this establishment seems & look like any typical boutique hotel based on photos. DON’T be deceived by the photos. The place had been rather antiquated and very little effort has been done to make it to function like a proper hotel. I’ve stayed here for 2 weeks and here are things that remained consistent. Customer service remains a facade just like the building. Seems and appears nice but actual service is mediocre at best. Called house keeping ahead of time (About 3 hrs) to tidy up the room but they did not follow up until second reminder. Cleanliness of room is very minimal. Stains on chairs and tables had remained after cleaning. Sheets are not replaced everyday. Amenities are facade. Gym is just an enclosed 300sqft room with no lighting fixtures. “Rooftop bar” is also but a facade, nothing but closed off access to abandoned fixtures and tables. Most likely due to recent acquisition of the hotel by new owner. Location is nowhere near anything fun or remarkable landscapes. Only decent side is the rooms are fairly big. But they don’t provide the minimal standards. Come on, no water provided in the rooms. I’d recommend not staying here and use your money for a better place elsewhere.

The rooms are very large and spacious. Very comfortable for two people, however the buttons are abit faulty and difficult to switch on and off the lights. The floormats are sticky for some reason (perhaps because they are made of plastic) but abit uncomfortable to walk on especially after shower. However, the rooms arent exactly soundproof because i can hear the traffic at night and early mornings because the hotel is right by the road. But all in all, it was a pleasant stay.

Absolutely disgusting. We were given a room on the 6th floor and in the hallway directly outside of the room there was a leak with a bucket on the floor. There was a lot of mold growing on the ceiling where the leak was. I saw a review from over a year ago describing this and the manager responded giving the excuse that it is monsoon season. However, it obviously has not been fixed and is a serious health hazard that requires remediation. They should not be allowing guests to occupy the rooms on this floor. I cannot believe that this is a 4-star hotel, the room also smelt damp and had a lot of mold growing in the shower. The room cleanliness was overall unacceptable dirt everywhere, all sheets and towels were stained. We asked to change room which they did allow, the new room was overall better as it was less damp but it was still not that clean. Please save yourself and book any other hotel, I've never been in a hotel with such poor cleanliness. To add insult to injury when you expect to pay a bit more to get a nice hotel for your honeymoon you do not expect this...
