Where to Buy Wine in Philadelphia | Eater Philly

"Philly’s iconic gourmet Italian grocery store sells wine by the bottle at its Rittenhouse and Franklin Market locations and at the Di Bruno Bros. Bottle Shop in the Italian Market on South Ninth Street. The large selection of international wines puts an expected emphasis on Italian wine, but the team also collaborates with regional producers for its own DB & Friends Wine Series. Add tons of beer, cider, fine cheese, and other provisions and you’ve got any hosting occasion covered."

Where to Buy Groceries and Provisions From Philly Restaurants | Eater Philly

"Along with a large selection of prepared foods — including pizza and stromboli from Alimentari in Rittenhouse — this long-running Philly chain sells pantry items like flour, yeast, and dried beans, all different types of meats and cheeses (and vegan versions of both), loaves of bread, eggs, milk, wine, beer, and more. All locations offer pickup and both the Ardmore and Rittenhouse locations offer delivery. Plus, a new 8,000 square-foot market is set to open in Wayne in March. Find details on what’s available online." - Caroline Coral

The Days of Police Receiving Preferential Treatment at Restaurants Might Be Over | Eater

"Workers at a Philadelphia shop publicly protested after a location posted a sign offering free lunches and drinks to on-duty officers and reportedly exempted them from mask rules and other requirements; facing an open letter from employees, the company apologized, revoked the free-meal policy, and acknowledged that relying on police protection is a privilege not afforded to many in the community." - Jaya Saxena

I placed an order for the American Dream cheese board for a small party. The way it was packaged was perfect so nothing would shift in transport. They provided plates, napkins and utensils which was very nice to have. Everyone raved over the cheeseboard! It was the gathering area for everyone to pick at each option. Everyone had asked what cheeses were on the board because they loved every different selection and the presentation! I will be back soon to order another one. I highly recommend Di Bruno Bros.!

In defense of Dibruno Brothers the people there and the service there is top notch. This is a rather small facility and has been here for 10 years most of the neighbors are very new with new development around dibruno Brothers the neighbors has been here for less than 4-2 years which I think there realtor should've explain that this business runs 20 hours a day, when people purchase their homes🙄. The very best food item from Dibruno Brothers is any cheese board or the Italian chicken parm or sausage and peppers sometimes the penne can be overcooked but everything you order is delicious and overpriced but again this is Dibruno Brothers .

My wedding was in two weeks (December 2023) and DiBruno Brothers Catering disappeared on me after months of planning and their commitment to us. We had submitted the final menu then responses from our contact ceased. Calls went unanswered. I am a former newspaper reporter and I know the power of my pen. I have never written a negative review in my life, and I gave the management multiple emails and visits to Chestnut Street before writing this. I don’t wish this experience on anyone and I’m sad that DiBruno dropped a very important ball here; my history with them goes back to my childhood and visiting the store in the Italian Market. I’m sorry to say this but pick another catering company. Save yourself from what happened to us.

We’re from MD traveled to Philly for my father in laws funeral. We ordered catering 1 week ahead of time. Amy was absolutely amazing to work with. She was quick to respond and kept us updated on our order. Our food arrived HOT and on time! Everything was phenomenal & gave us such comfort during a tough time!

Went with Di Buno for a work holiday party. Overall it was fine but there were a few issues which would cause me to not go with them again. The driver was 20 minutes late and had an attitude when he showed up about getting into the building. Once he was inside he was unpacking things so slowly a coworker and I decided to start doing it. I ended up telling him to just set up the sternos and leave because guests were showing up while he was still attempting to unpack things. After he did leave I realized he left us with no cutlery, no forks, no spoons, no knives. Just the serving utensils were left and that was it. Good thing we had some extras left over that we were able to use. The food was decent, nothing amazing. I would probably go with a local company next time and skip the chain.

For our wedding. We love our meats and cheeses, so we got about 6 cheese and charcuterie boards. Jenna stayed in contact with us throughout, offered suggestions and replacements when a certain product became unavailable. Rachel was also extremely helpful in processing our request. The delivery was spot on time, and allowed our guests to properly see what the choices were with an impressive display!

Yelp
We hired Di Bruno Bros catering for our Super Bowl gathering at home because the food we typically pick up at the Rittenhouse Square location is excellent. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience this time. The mac and cheese was almost inedible, and the chicken wings were just mediocre. The only highlight was the hoagies. Given that we spent almost $500, we were very disappointed. Additionally, on the day of the event, I tried to call to check on our order but received a message saying they were closed. I had to contact the main store to confirm that our food was on the way. We would not use them again.

Yelp
The vegetables and fruit salads are so fresh. Especially the chocolate dessert is so mellow and rich and not too sweet.

Yelp
I've used Di Bruno Bros. Catering twice so far this year. Their catering contact, Amy Howe, is amazing; she recently saved my bacon big time when I had a last minute catering emergency. Amy got in touch with me soon after I left her a message and we discussed my needs. Within hours she secured everything needed for my event, from bartenders to food to ice, and I had a proposal in my inbox. Whether you need a simple (but beautiful!) cheese tray for snacks at a small event or a full on spread with catering staff to boot, Di Bruno Bros. has your back. They also work with a big list of venues in Philadelphia, which means they have the necessary catering licenses in place to slide right in and save the day. Can't recommend this team of professionals enough!

Yelp
We've tried Di Bruno's Catering for two events (lunch and dinner) but the food has not been good. This is surprising, because I like the Di Bruno's store locations I've been to & expected a comparable level of quality from the catering. But, I was fooled by the name. The catering food is not good & it's overpriced (especially considering that some of it's quite bad). FOOD - Broccoli rabe was fine one time, but another time we ordered it, it was so tough and fibrous that it was difficult to chew. - Sandwiches were edible but uninspired. Most were cold cuts on bad bread but weren't well-seasoned. For such expensive sandwiches, I'd expect them to do more with condiments and toppings to make it tasty. There was too much chewy bread that seemed a day old. - Dinner rolls were fine once. The second time we got them, they were hard and so tough that they were difficult to eat, so nobody did. - Mushroom Risotto-type dish was salty and oily but much more edible than the sandwiches and rolls. - Salad was basic. - Pasta salad was edible, but bland. - Dessert tray with brownies and cookies: The cookies seemed like stale supermarket cookies. Indeed, the Di Bruno's sticker on the bottom of the plate indicated that it'd been packaged 1.5 days prior. SERVICE Service on the catering side is so-so. They recommended food that was pretty bad. They put together a dinner that was extremely bread-heavy, starch-heavy and unpalatable. Even though a lot of bread (dinner rolls) was already included with the hot entrees, they also recommended a few plates of sandwiches and the risotto dish in the same meal. So, I wouldn't trust them to put together a menu. We did this once, and the meal was boring, bad, unbalanced, plus much of it seemed like it was at least a day old. The delivery service was good. SUMMARY I'd avoid getting prepared foods from Di Bruno's Catering. Their cheese plates should be fine (although they tend to include a pink ball of cheese spread that doesn't taste good). If you must get catering of cooked food from Di Bruno's, I recommend that you choose your own dishes & don't accept the caterer's recommendations; choose items that you love so much that a really bad version of it would still be okay. There is much better catered food to be had in Philadelphia.

Yelp
Used DiBruno Brothers full-service option this past weekend for a rehearsal dinner. They were fantastic. Our cocktail hour was outside, and the passed hor'dourves (lamb lollipop, cheesesteak springrolls, goat cheese/honey crisp, and smoked salmon) were all not only top notch, but lovely to look at! They were served in quick succession and there was never a minute guests wanted for food. They were great with the seated, plated meal indoors, too. I had two folks drop out last minute, one gluten free person, and a sudden addition - the caterer accomodated all of those things FLAWLESSLY. Also all of my special requests, from pre-plating the salad, to pre-pouring champagne for toasts, table wine service during the meal, to tastefully timing the pasta course service around speeches, were handled with great aplomb. I have nothing but good things to say abou their dinner service. Amy and Benji and their team were AMAZING. After dinner, I had opted to do dessert and coffee outside in the garden instead of the served dessert - and the Viennese display was stunning! La Colombe coffee was delicious, and they even provided a whole stack of "to-go" boxes so guests could make little mix/match dessert carry-outs for themselves and the extra wouldn't go to waste. It was a fantastic touch! Anyway, the moral of this long story is that I loved working with DiBruno Brothers and their service absolutely helped make my event a success. Their food was delicious (dinner options we picked were the veal piccata, chicken dibruno, and eggplant lombardy - all enjoyed by our guests) and beautifully plated. Their staff was polite and efficient, and they handled every curvebal beautifully! Highly recommend.

Yelp
We used DiBruno's catering for our micro-wedding this summer. Since we downsized, we wanted something simple yet tasty. They were so helpful and the food was great (we ordered a mixed sandwich tray, with sides, salad and a dessert tray). Our guests were thrilled as everything was tasty and it was definitely better than a standard sandwich tray. They supplied everything to make serving easy. DiBruno's helped make our COVID wedding work wonderfully.

Yelp
Di Bruno Bros. has a great reputation for their food. The sad thing is they lack on caring for the commissary facility. There is no awning or small signage to determine where the building is. At any point you have workers smoking outside, multiple trucks sitting, its unclear if its a pick up spot for patrons or for large businesses. They could keep a cleaner exterior, dress up the facade and show pride in their brand... after-all its the catering service and first impressions are important.

Yelp
My husband and I used DiBruno Bros. Catering & Events to cater our wedding this past weekend. From the second I reached out, until our event was over, we couldn't have been more happy with the customer service provided by Amy and the fabulous flavors of every item we purchased. Amy is fantastic at her job and it clearly shows! Every question we had was promptly answered and every suggestion we made was honored. Amy and her staff went out of their way to ensure that not only our food display looked phenomenal, but also decorated our fall themed wedding tables with the decorations we provided to Amy a few days prior, which made that aspect stress free for us. We have received, and continue to receive, compliments on the food and questions about how the guests can purchase. Marcus and Brian (our server and bartender) were professional, friendly and wonderful to work with. We have been to a lot of catered events, and I can honestly say that I have never been more pleased with catered food then at my own wedding! We would highly recommend DiBruno Bros. Catering & Events and will definitely be using again!
