Does Di Fara’s New Sandwich Shop Live Up to Its Name? | Eater NY

"I hadn’t been since the death of its founder in March 2022, and when I returned there was no line out front and empty tables inside while three employees moved behind the counter assembling and baking pies. In the ’90s I remembered Dom DeMarco as a one-man performance—yanking pies from the oven to add extra cheese or torn basil from a potted plant—but that theatrical presence is gone; nonetheless the counter still holds Dom’s oil pitcher, a basket of basil leaves, and a tub of grated cheese like a still-life memorial. We bought single slices rather than a whole pie—a plain cheese Neapolitan slice ($5) and a Sicilian square ($6); both were good, with the Neapolitan notably crisper and less cheesy with slightly chunkier tomato sauce, and the Sicilian a bready, meal-sized slice with a supremely crisp bottom crust and a lush quantity of crushed tomatoes. Visiting the pizzeria still feels like a pilgrimage to an important monument in the city’s pizza history." - Robert Sietsema

New York’s Best New Pizza in 2018 Serve by the Slice | Eater NY

"Visiting the North 3rd Market spin-off reminded me of the old Midwood ritual but without the line or the basil snipping: on one visit my $5 slice had lukewarm, mealy mozzarella and the tip was missing; on another the cheese was blistering hot and milky. In both cases, though, the two gobs of tomato sauce justified the price — it tasted like stewed, perfectly sun-ripened tomato laced with enough pepper to make carbonara — and despite the flaws, Di Fara has still got it." - Ryan Sutton

We’ve ordered from Pizza Cavern a few times already, and honestly — the quality is top-tier. Super flavorful, perfectly thin crust, and the ingredients are balanced just right. Nothing extra, nothing overloaded like some places do where you can’t even tell what you’re eating. Yeah, sometimes you have to wait a bit because the place gets packed, it’s insanely popular — and it’s obvious why. They also do free delivery to tons of nearby spots, which is super convenient. Highly recommend checking them out and enjoying their pizzas.

I went here with my son. We looked up best pizza place in Cary, North Carolina and all the pizza is unique. It’s got a cool vibe to. It. Looks like it would probably be a lot of fun as a sports bar. We just wanted like a basic New York style piece of pizza. So I wouldn’t call it the best pizza unless you’re into those unique artisan type of pizzas. I mean it was good and the service was just OK. They didn’t ask if it was our first time here they just kind of like go sit down and we were trying to look at the pizza that they had in the glass case and they were like ghost could just go sit down and it was kind of rude, but You know I guess that’s the New York style of running a pizza place, but there was only two people in there they could’ve actually said hey is it your first time? Let me tell you a little bit about us. Let me tell you about some events. I just didn’t feel like this is a place. I’m on a frequent often if ever come back too. And they probably could’ve made us feel a lot more welcome and said oh you gotta try this. Oh this is our best seller you know stuff like that would’ve made the whole experience much better. So for that, I’m gonna kind of get rid of it pretty much across the board at three because again I know it’s not my cup of tea, but somebody else would probably really like it. I just think that as far as best carry pizza place I know I know this is a very subjective type of feel but when you’re just looking for a good slice of pizza, you don’t want something new and unique you want just pizza this ain’t that. Really cool though place I’m sure it’s pop it as a bar and Grill as a sports part.Today I was underwhelmed. I don’t know if I’ll ever be back and again it’s just one person’s opinion.

Google
Amazing experience! The pizzas are HUGE. One is literally enough for our whole family with leftovers for lunch the next day, which is such good value when you think about it. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the meatballs as an appetizer were perfect. We’re making this a monthly thing.

I hate giving bad reviews, and in many cases, I believe reviews can often be biased and based off emotions, this one is neither. If you've read any of my reviews you will see Im well informed and fair. I think 4 stars is better than they actually should get, my goal isn't to deter folks from eating here, they have a pretty good following for that, but as a New Yorker through and through and someone who knows food. The classic pizza we had, on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 5.5 both my wife and I are New Yorkers and this pizza didnt rank anywhere near what we're used to. The garlic knots were ok. Minus the food, this was a great date night for us. We've been doing this since our early 20's and we're early 60's early... so that should account for something. As a foodservice professional, I've set up scores of Italian restaurants across the country. I was really good and set up some really fine places.. If you want a fair assessment of what good NYC pizza tastes like, there used to be a place called "Casalinga" probably was the best, all around in anything Italian, In NC... Frank, who was one of their chefs passed away many year's ago.. that pizza/food was amazing! Di Fara's crust was perfect, I'll give them that..the sauce to cheese ratio was balanced for me.. the sauce was clearly a plum/ San Marzano, I grow them and others so that was easy for me.. but the flavors just didnt wow me at all. My bill with a tip came to 92.00 I was disappointed in that l spent 92 bucks for a pizza, 12 garlic knots and 2 diet cokes.. I wasn't concerned about how long it took because I was really enjoying my wife, the music they had, and the raffle.... oh yeah, lets get to the raffle.. I had won a 150.00 gift card and made my way up front to the stage they had set up, as quickly as I could, coming from way in the back..and watched them called out another number and pass my 150 to someone else. Geez, not giving me enough time to collect my original prize was diabolical as they say. Mrs Fara had this sad look and gave me a Thule duffel instead.. Here's a thought, before pulling the trigger so quickly, how about giving people enough time to walk up front.. fair? Overall I enjoyed the evening, It was new for the wife and I. We'll see If we ever go back or not.

Pizza snob here from New Jersey! I moved to Raleigh two months ago. Di Fara is now - without a doubt - my go to! Great crunch to the crust, and the fresh basil on top of my pepperoni slice is great addition. It will be worth the 11 mile drive from North Hills to get a taste of a REAL New York slice. Nice people, great space with lots of tables and huge tv's, and outdoor space as well. Seems like a great place to watch a game and enjoy great pizza!

Google
I read about the really long wait times in the reviews so we made sure to get there right at 5pm. It was basically empty and we got our order in right away so we felt really positive. There was a steady stream of people coming in and pizza going out... And 53 minutes later we noticed most of the people who had arrived there after us had pizza. We ask the waitress and she went to check. She told us our order had gotten bumped off the screen (?) but it was coming out now. It was pretty good pizza, but the bill was over $100 for one pizza, two draft beers and a cocktail. I don't regret going, but I won't be back.

Not Family Friendly & Extremely Rude Experience We recently visited Di Fara with our three young kids and had one of the least welcoming dining experiences we’ve ever had. We ordered two pizzas to go, thinking we’d enjoy them at Cary Park. While waiting, I politely asked if we could sit at one of their many outdoor tables (or even indoors) since the kids were getting hungry and my hands were full. Instead of any understanding, we were met with condescension. A staff member came over and tersely said, “You ordered to go — you need to go.” I explained that we were just waiting for my spouse, who was parking, and that we would absolutely leave after eating. Still, the staff remained rigid and dismissive. We grabbed our pizzas to leave, only to have a manager come out and repeat the same thing — again, with no empathy or flexibility. I told her we understood the policy but didn’t need to be harassed while trying to manage three hungry kids. Her tone was rude, and she made it clear she didn’t care about losing our business. What made this worse is that I had tipped 15% on a takeout order — a mistake, given how terribly we were treated. Their outdoor patio was completely empty (photo attached), yet they claimed they couldn’t let us sit because of their “lunch rush.” We ended up awkwardly sitting on a random bench for 15 minutes to let the kids eat, and this was apparently their “busiest time.” Bottom line: this is not a family-friendly restaurant. The staff was unnecessarily rigid, unkind, and unwelcoming. If you have kids or simply value good customer service, spend your money at a place that treats its patrons with basic courtesy and respect.

Google
Di Fara lives up to the hype and then some. First off, the garlic knots are hands-down the best I’ve ever had—perfectly golden, buttery, and packed with flavor in every bite. Both the square pie and the round pie are out of this world. The square has that crispy, caramelized edge with a chewy center that’s absolute perfection. The round pie? Classic, balanced, and beautifully done. A must try Also, I enjoy that they have both indoor and outdoor seating .... The staff is very friendly as well.

Yelp
Taylor, dark hair girl, was my server. She was amazing. The pizza was better than I've ever had in NC. If you're looking for a great slice and great service go here.

Yelp
Update 9/27: We've come back twice since my original review, and unfortunately, both visits have been a struggle. Last year, we came on a Saturday night and it took over 1.5 hours just to get our two pizzas. We had children with us, and they got so hungry we nearly left. We decided to give it another try tonight, but the experience wasn't much better. Our waiter mistakenly put in an order for a single square slice instead of the square pie we requested. Thankfully, our children's pizza order was correct and came out in about 30-45 minutes. The slice was comped, and they assured us the pie would be rushed. However, even after another 45 minutes of waiting and being repeatedly told "just 5 more minutes" the pizza still never came. At that point, after a total of 1.5 hours, we asked to cancel the order and had to leave hungry. Our kids at least got to eat, which was the most important part, but for us, it's simply too much of a hassle to come back.

Yelp
Im a previous food worker so this review pains me. We waited over 2 hours for our pizza. I get it mistakes happen but when our pizza was mia so was our server. I had to stand up front and wait for our pizza because I had no faith that our server would handle the problem. Actually I'm pretty sure my server clocked out and was smoking a cigarette or something. Didn't see our server for the last 45 minutes of our ruined date night I really hope the owners read this because you make a good pizza. However the service I had was one of the worst I have experienced. Terrible.

Yelp
Di Farra Pizza and Tavern: This perpetually packed pizza spot somehow draws a crowd like it's slinging slices from heaven. The staff here move like caffeinated gazelles in non-slip shoes, dodging each other with boxes in hand and sweat on their brows. They're a blur of aprons, order tickets, and barely-contained chaos, fueled by espresso shots and sheer willpower. They refill your drinks like heroes, deliver your starters... and then vanish into the great pizza void. The main event? NEVER ARRIVES! We came in with low expectations and still left disappointed. Ordered their self acclaimed one-size pizza, which apparently exists only in theory. Was quoted 45 minutes. Then 60. Then NOTHING but silence. Staff rotated like a Broadway cast on opening night, each one confidently guessing a new wait time with the enthusiasm of someone who clearly knows it's never coming. Over an hour later, we left with no pizza, drowning in broken promises, and a newfound respect for vending machines. Seating is a joke! Service is a social experiment! And the only thing hotter than the pizza oven is our frustration. A masterclass in chaos. Never again -- but thanks for the memory. And the receipt. I'll treasure both..Cheers!

Yelp
we went as a family to Di Fara in Cary during the Xmas break. Was busy but we made a reservation in the heated igloo tent in their outdoor area, which we paid extra for. Staffers are friendly. Pizza's understandably take a while (maybe 20 mins). We got a white pie (circular) and a sicilian sqaure pie. The white was good, decent undercarriage, thin crust. The sicilian was not so great, soggy and inconsistent depending on if you got an end or middle. Apps are good - the garlic knots and meatballs Yes they are using the Di Fara Midwood name. (RIP to the old man) but as a guy born and raised in the pizza neighborhoods of Brooklyn, I found this place in Cary, NC not terrible. Parking can be a pain
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
This place is busy! But the greeting was friendly and helpful and the service was terrific. They feature Brooklyn-style thin crust pizza. Dine in, have a drink, or pizza to go is available. It has a modern tavern feel. The foundation of a great pizza is the crust, which was perfect. Cracker thin not over or undercooked. I had cheese and pepperoni pizza having a mild sauce and's cup-and-char pepperoni. For some reason my slice was salty but still very good. I also had a slice of veggie pizza which was less salty.

Yelp
I love Di Fara Pizza Tavern. My sausage pie was amazing. Perfect crispy crust, a lot of sausage, and topped with fresh basil. I didn't eat in, it was late so I did takeout. The guys who made the pie were nice though.
google avatar

Robert N.

Yelp
The pizza slice was flavorful. I liked it, service was friendly but the place could've been a bit cleaner but it did just rain. I do feel the prices are high for the food so it is something to try but some food to me wasn't worth ordering so I was fine with the slice.

Yelp
Amazing pizza in the downtown Cary area! We got here early on a weekend night and there was a small wait to eat inside, but no wait for outside. Bar seating inside is first come, first served. We waited about 10 minutes until a table was ready inside. My husband and I ordered a chaos pizza with garlic knots. The restaurant boasts that it's New York style pizza and I will say it tastes authentic. The whole meal was delicious and we had leftovers for another meal for us both. Service was kind and quick. The place is super casual and can get busy, so plan accordingly if you have plans post-eating. There is not a lot of parking in front of the restaurant, so you may need to look elsewhere if it's super busy.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza at lunch time was really good We tried both the thin and thick crust and liked them both Had leftovers which had to freeze and the air fryer brought it back to life
google avatar

Shelby L.

Yelp
Stopped in because I needed a meal and pizza was being craved. I'm so glad I stopped. The pizza here is delicious. And as a NY'er I can say this is the best pizza I've had in NC compared to my NY pizza. If I had capacity for more than one slice you can betcha I would have had two! I decided to enjoy the drink of the month and I can say they made it perfectly. I'm coming back, bringing my NY boyfriend and we will see how impressed he is. But this is the first place I even have considered bringing him as he is a true pizza from the city man and if this impresses him then this place will win the award from me for best pizza in Cary NC. I came before dinner hour so it was quiet and I was served quickly (sat at the bar). It was quiet and I enjoyed my meal break immensely. I am coming back!!!!

Yelp
I'm visiting and had this fabulous pizza. Had some Chianti with it. Barbara is friends with my friend and very sweet. We had a great time. The pizza is so amazing when I got home I took a nap and when I woke up, I was thinking about eating a slice. I guess she would say it's it's a pizza dream.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for some lunch. We were greeted and sat right away. There was a dining area and bar with several televisions. We had the square pizza again and were so happy with our choice. I got this the first time we went and love it so much, I can't order anything else. Moved down to the Raleigh area from NY and it is probably my favorite pizza so far. Check it out.
google avatar

Alicia R.

Yelp
Fun, chill, feels like a bar with sports tv that happens to serve ny style pizza by the slice. The meatballs are always a hit when we bring friends. Staff is attentive when you sit inside because it is so small but it literally is so chill you can get your own refills.
google avatar

Terra S.

Yelp
So so good. Stopped in for lunch and had a pizza with half pepperoni- it was excellent. Brought leftovers home and my 18-year old son loved it so much he changed his bday dinner plans for the next night to have it again! Crisp, fresh, and a huge hit!
google avatar

Isamar T.

Yelp
We waited almost 1 hour for 2 pizzas on busy Saturday evening. It was absolutely worth it! We were able to wait seated inside so that was a win, there are lots of screens and of course a bar. We ordered the Di Fara pizza and the White Pizza. Our favorite was the White Pizza. Service was great as well. We will be going back soon!
google avatar

Krysthal S.

Yelp
The food that we have ordered was really good. Fresh homemade taste tomato sauce with garlic rolls and white pizza with prosciutto. All the staff were friendly, courteous and attentive to our needs. The place was full but not chaotic, had to wait for 30 minutes but it was worth it. Many families dinning in, so the ambiance was nice. Definitely we will be back!

Yelp
So to be completely transparent we lived in NY and CT so we have been around some pretty good pizza. We have been to the Brooklyn location more than once and absolutely loved it. This was our second visit to Di Fara in Cary. The first time we had several traditional pies and enjoyed it very much. So much so that I declared it the best pizza we've tried in the South. They have these cool pods for outdoor dining in the winter, lots of TVs for sports and a full bar. This visit was also enjoyable with a couple of exceptions. We got the white pizza and although tasty it was not crispy enough. In fact several of the slices were downright floppy. I will take the blame for that as we should have asked for it well done. With all that said the taste was excellent and the only thing missing was a consistent crisp. The unfortunate part of the visit was the person behind the bar. I spoke to him as I looked over the tap beer selection and he barely acknowledged my existence. Our wait person who did an outstanding job, took our drink order and the "bar person" dropped them off at our table without a word or a smile. I don't think I'm a needy diner but a smile or a "hey there" would have gone a long way. The long and the short of it, good pizza, ask for it crispy. And don't mind the guy behind the bar because the pizza is worth it.
google avatar

Brilynn C.

Yelp
Pizza crust was thin and crispy. Easy to fold. I found the sauce on the sweeter side, it complimented the basil on the pepperoni slice. The white slice was creamy and bright in uneven bites. Seating is available outside on a patio with menus available on corn hole bags. 3 large outside tv's and patio lights. Friendly service on the slower side. Great location downtown Cary.
google avatar

Abeni O.

Yelp
A lot of people absolutely love this place. Always a line. The pizza was decent. Not sure I would say best in class in the area. The garlic knots... overly priced and were a bit doughy. We had to take them home to cook them a bit more. Our server was nice and we liked sitting outside.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Service fine, food fine, but a gift card wouldn't work. While my wife waited for the manager to talk to the card processing company the manager yelled at my wife and told her to wait outside in the rain...my wife hadn't said a word to the manager as she wa son the phone. We were a consistent customer and if the manager just had a bad day and said at the end - 'sorry it was a bad day' we would have moved on and said shit happens. But no apology (manager even yelled at her own daughter for talking to my wife) or acknowledgment that there was an incident. If you go, ask for a polite management experience!
google avatar

Sal S.

Yelp
I hate giving 1 star reviews. But, honestly, I usually only give five star or one star reviews either for excellent... or terrible service. On this occasion, I ordered a pizza with sausage, pepper, mushroom. Cost $42. Appetizer of 3 small meatballs....$12. Total cost with tax and (unfortunately) generous tip...$65. I know, dumb for a pizza. I was told 30 minutes. It took 50 minutes.... For a pizza. And they got it wrong! Covered in onions! They offered to "pick them off". Lovely. I asked for a manager. No kitchen manager available. They offered no apology. No discount. Couldn't talk to a manager. Told them I'd let everyone know about my experience, and they said they were fine with that. So... this was my experience.

Reno R.

Yelp
Best pizza in the area by far! We routinely drive over an hour from Pinehurst and have never been disappointed. Owners, Greg and Valerie are two of the nicest and highest integrity people you could ever meet. If you're used to Papa John's and Pizza Hut, stay home! This is an authentic Di Fara pizza experience paying direct homage to the original in Brooklyn thats been helping to define the NY style pizza experience since the 60's. Enjoy!
google avatar

Jisun J.

Yelp
They warned us that if would be 1.5 hours to get this pizza. We were cool! We were having some drinks. Welp they screwed up gave our pizza to someone else so it really ended up to be 2.25 hours. No apologies at all and our server no where to be found. Just paid and left! Awful! They messed it up for us bad bad bad!!!!

Sylvie S.

Yelp
We came into Di Fara in Cary with high expectations -- and left frustrated, hungry, and baffled at how a place with this reputation treats its customers. We were seated at 7:20pm and ordered 5 slices so we could try a variety. What followed was nearly an hour of watching other tables -- who came in after us -- get served fresh, hot pizzas while we sat empty-handed. When our food finally arrived, it was an insult: slices that were lukewarm at best, with cheese hardened into a rubbery layer that snapped instead of stretching. It tasted like reheated leftovers, not something fresh from the oven. When we complained, the owner came over -- and instead of listening or apologizing, he kept making excuses. He told us the slices "come out hot" (they weren't), blamed the cheese on "too many toppings," and repeatedly reminded us that "we tell people it's a 60-90 minute wait." None of that mattered. Even after waiting that long, pizza should arrive hot, not cold. What made it worse was his attitude. He spoke to us as if we had no idea how pizza was supposed to taste, dismissing every concern and brushing us off like we were the problem. It was clear he didn't care about his customers -- only defending himself. To top it off, after saying he'd "take care of the bill," he only removed 2 slices. We still had to pay for 3 cold, barely edible slices we forced down out of hunger. No apology. No effort to make things right. Just arrogance and disregard. Di Fara in Cary isn't just overrated -- it's a case study in how not to run a restaurant. If you want hot pizza, respect, or even basic customer service, you won't find it here.

Yelp
Service was excellent! Pizza needs more flavor in the sauce. It was too bland. Needs more garlic and oregano to help the sauce out. Half the pizza crust was burnt other half was fine.

Yelp
Di Fara is honestly underrated! I visited here a few weeks ago and never heard about this place until now. It's so worth the hype. The location is pretty conveniently situated between local bars and restaurants. I was able to start my night here with a good slice of pizza for dinner and some good drinks. The service was great. Our servers name was Lexi and she hooked us up on the drinks. We got our order taken pretty fast. The food was delivered quickly. I enjoyed my night and appreciated the tvs playing sports. They had an easy and quick to go option on the other side and some seating area outside as well. Overall just a really nice experience, nothing I can think of went wrong. In fact, I was actually craving that food a few days later after my visit. Definitely a must go to spot if you're ever in town, very reliable, very friendly!

Yelp
Unlike its Avenue J in Brooklyn namesake, this location of Di Fara's in Cary is not a hole in the wall pizzeria. It's a nice tavern restaurant that offers seating at the bar, in the dining area and outside in igloos for the winter. Now for the pizza. We finally found the NY / Brooklyn style pizza here in NC that we have been searching for, for YEARS!! We have found some okay pizza but this is almost like the pizza at the original location in Brooklyn that I've been to quite a number of times. We went with the Chaos pie and a Sicilian slice that we spit. From the crust, to the sauce, to the cheese and toppings, it's was great!! The pizza was cooked perfectly and was delicious. They only offer four pie types, calzone, garlic knots and meatballs on the menu. Which is fine. Pizza should be kept simple in my opinion. The service though was slow. Granted they were busy. We waited forty-five minutes for a table while we sat at the bar. It took another forty-five minutes for the pizza to come out after ordering. From what I saw it was non stop in that kitchen and it was a Friday night so that's understandable. Parking here is rough though. The restaurant is in a small strip mall in the downtown area and the street abuts the rail line so on street parking can be difficult. I found a spot across the street in the lot for the train station.

Justin M.

Yelp
Who charges a credit card surcharge fee this days? $40 is already extraordinarily expensive for a pizza.

Angela K.

Yelp
OMG thank you for a little slice of home. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and your pizza is the best I've had since moving to NC. It is perfect. Your server Barbara was a delight who comes from Long Island where I lived for many years. A perfect birthday lunch
google avatar

Remy L.

Yelp
Pizza is okay but it's really expensive compared to other pizza places in the area. They have live music sometimes and that is nice but I can't get over how much you pay for a whole pizza. Employees are nice.
google avatar

Amy J.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! We are from up north and we are used to igloos as there is no other way to eat outside during the winter up there so I saw Di Fara igloos on IG and booked right away as I thought this would be a cute touch for our anniversary. It's fitting as our wedding was very snowy and cold! It was our first time and the place was super busy and parking is a bit hectic but it's the Saturday before Christmas and Cary had a ton of lights on the Main Street. But we were seated right before our reservation time and our waitress was such a gem! We ordred a few drinks, pizza right away as we thought it'd be a wait but it came out pretty fast for how busy it was. Highly highly recommend and can't wait to come back next year to celebrate 17 years!

The best pizza in the Carolina's by far Such amazing flavor due to fresh high quality ingredients and perfect dough and always perfectly cooked We had a pepperoni pie and ate both dinner and lunch the next day and it' was as good the next day So lucky to have this pizzeria here in Cary It will blow your mind if you haven't tried it yet 10 stars in my book

Yelp
This is a great example of 3rd time is a charm. I was having a girls night out dinner with my friend and it was my turn to pick and it never occurred to me to get a reservation. We tried three places before we stumbled upon this restaurant. I'm really glad we did. The service was phenomenal and the food was really good. They were packed so we ended up sitting outside under a heater, but the manager in waitstaff kept checking on us and were overall amazing.

Yelp
The food is good. Service is good. Loved the igloo out back, but the food is too expensive. A large pizza for more than $30? 12 Garlic knots for $24? We would go more often if prices were reasonable.

Yelp
I used to love this place, but wow has it gone downhill. Came with a group of 12 and appetizers came out quickly. We ordered a pie and several individual slices.... The slices finally came out in about 45 minutes and 4 of us sat without our pie for an hour. No one checked on us. I flagged someone and said that half the table has already eaten and we still don't have our pie. Came back and told us it would be another 35-40 minutes! We asked the waiter to get us literally anything so we could eat and leave. We had to pay full price for a slices we didn't even order. No apology... "I don't know why they brought the food out like that." (Food out at different times). Won't be back!

Yelp
Coming from the tri state area, nobody does pizza like NY. I went off a review on tik tok saying the pizza was great. Wrong! We ordered a square pizza 1/2 margarita 1/2 classic minus the sausage. The margarita half was overcooked couldn't even see the fresh mozzarella. The other side was same as well. The crust was a bit hard around the edge. I actually like the sauce, and the veggies were fresh , but I was disappointed overall after being hyped up. Our waitress was very nice but I felt rushed. The atmosphere was nice outside seating, but it's on a decline and I felt like I was sliding off the bench

Yelp
We ordered three pizzas last night. Not sure if the staff was new or what was happening, the pizza was burnt and the crust was very hard. We ordered one white pizza and two classics. We were disappointed. Very. I don't write a review unless I give the restaurant a chance to make it right. I understand if it was an off night. I called and spoke to the female manager tonight. She had no interest in listening and or offering a solution to make it right. She just requested that maybe we had some pictures to prove it. I have never heard of such poor customer service. I will not be going to DiFaras in the future as well as the rest of my family.

Yelp
Terrible slow service coupled with poor communication. Highly recommend if a 75 minutes wait for a pizza aligns with your expectations.

Yelp
Bottom line: Delicious pizza by the slice at Di Fara Pizza Tavern in downtown Cary, with good service. Their regular pizza was the standout for me, very thin crust and great flavors but note that customization for pizza slices is not available, server states they are pre-made. The Deets: I've stopped by Di Fara Pizza Tavern in Cary a couple of times, once for dessert (a cannoli, pretty good) and most recently a stop in for lunch pizza slices. The inside does favor tavern like style with tables/high tops available as well as a bar on one side and their open kitchen area on the other side. There is also outside seating available and during the colder weather they have igloos available for outside seating as well. Service each time has been good. I walked in and sat myself at a table, after a bit a server comes to take your order once you've had a chance to look at their menu provided by QR code on phone. When the server takes your order, they also start the tab with your credit card on their portable unit. For my lunch stop, I went for a slice of their regular pizza ($3.99 ea) and slice of their pepperoni pizza ($4.49 ea), see pics for toppings etc. When they arrived, they looked great! I started with the regular slice and I really enjoyed this one the most...the flavors were delicious and balanced. The slice was thin, the kind I enjoy, with a good crisp to it and even a bit of char but not so much char that it made any bite bitter at all. The only way I think the slice of regular pizza could have been better was more cheese on it, as the sauce amount as well as taste was good. The pepperoni pizza slice was good also but I have to say I lean towards the slice of regular pizza as my fave...so much so, I asked for another slice of regular pizza but inquired if I could have extra cheese on this one. The server stated that the slices are pre-made with no customizations so no extra cheese...ah, well, I still got the other slice of regular pizza anyway. I enjoyed the pizza at Di Fara in Cary and hopefully will see them in the future for more meals.

Yelp
Visited this place yesterday and was left very, very dissapointed. The service was ok. They did not resolve the issues we had not did they offer to try and resolve the matter. They just sheepishly shrugged their shoulders. Food was meh. I have been to NYC and had amazing thin crust pizza. This was cardboard with too much sauce, not enough cheese. Yes I am from the south and I do know what good pizza looks and tastes like. OK on to the real issue and not just tastes in thin crust pizza. My party of 7 ordered a couple of slices and my kids ordered 1 slice of cheese each. Food came to table in parts. 3 or 4 slices every 5 minutes. My kids slices never appeared. When asked the server said that they had forgotten and would get the kids slices out right away. after 5 minutes we asked again and were told they had to make new house pizza and the wait would be 10 minutes. I gave kids my slices. We asked to speak to manager but were informed she was too busy running front of the house. I have over 20 years experience in the restuarant industry and know a blow off when I hear it. No one offered to resolve missing slices or make our experience any better. Kids went home hungry and we went home frustrated. Manager is a complete coward, If you can't muster the courage to deal with people dont run a restaurant Go home and peddle your cardboard with sauce there.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, the pizza is fantastic. But my god, you might as well have to go through Hercules' trials to get it. We arrived at 5:45 on a Saturday evening to a 30-40 minute wait. ~45 minutes later, we were seated. We ordered waters and garlic knots to start. About 5 minutes later, we put in an order for 1 cheese pizza, and we were told it would be another 45 minute wait for the pizza. Would've been really nice to know that when we put our name down so we could have ordered then or gone somewhere else. Really need to expand or tell folks what to expect when they arrive.

Yelp
The service was AWFUL. Our server could not have been more inconvenienced by our presence. Not busy at all when we arrived and no one let us know it was seat yourself. Had to get up to ask for another round of drinks. Then had to get up again to ask for another round. The pizza is good but overpriced and the entitled staff definitely stole the show. Will never go back. Looking for great pizza and better service - check out Mezza Luna in Apex.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! Pizza was NY style thin crust. Sauce, cheese and basil were all very fresh and tasty.

Yelp
Just popped in for a quick snack and ordered a pizza slice. It was the classic with sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms. It was excellent and the perfect size. The crust was on the thinner side but not crispy thin. The pizza was very good and service was too.

Yelp
The service has become very spotty, we sat down and ordered a drink but only one person in our group got their drink and we had to remind the waitress about our other drinks. The pizza we were told would be about 45 mins....we were ok with that. We watched other people who sat down at least 20-30 mins after us get their food and our pizza took at least 1 hour.....can't figure out how a pizza takes that long to cook. Order your food before you sit down or else it Will be a long long wait.
