"Its hard to call what Dia puts out as street food. While they are corn husk wrapped, the fillings are anything but expected and super delicious. They are stuffed with unconventional, globally-flavored fillings such as roasted pepper and goat cheese, coconut curry chicken, and even chocolate peanut butter. These are chef-made tamales with farm sourced ingredients, not the mom-made ones (also super delicious and worth a try) found on many of the corners around here." - Faust

Dia de los Tamales has closed in Pilsen after six years - Eater Chicago
"Dia de los Tamales didn’t make it to the Day of the Dead this year as the popular tamale maker has closed both locations — the original in Pilsen and the one downtown at Block 37. Known for creative tamales — like a Chicago Italian beef variety — the shop lasted six years at 939 W. 18th Street." - Ashok Selvam
Good place if you want to try modern tamales! Not like the traditional tamales but just as good. Small place with a nice patio. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back!! Arepas are so good too!

Elote was in half a cup of water with barley any pepper
The tamales have the meat "blended" in, so you can't see the meat, but its a cheap way of not putting any meat inside.
I gave it a chance because I work near by but I'm never going back
When i went back to complain they just offered me more gross elote

I gave them 3 stars because the service and staff are very nice and friendly, however the tamales is not what I was expecting, it’s an okay for me... but really loved the place and the corn.

Absolutely fantastic tamales. Not traditional by any means, but the quality is top notch. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Creative twists on traditional tamales that taste AWESOME. They even make their own hot sauces! I will definitely be eating here often!

I love Dia De Los Tamales so much with one small exception.... I wish I lived closer. Their tamales are so so so SOOOOOOOOOOO good! And they offer the most amazing variety including some vegetarian options. They are made perfectly and are all tasty. And they seriously get super creative with what they put in their tamales. And they switch their menu up and offer seasonal options. My current favorite is their pumpkin tamale. It is so tasty and yummy and mouthwatering. I am so glad I made it over there before the season of pumpkin ends. All of their tamales are exactly $3 as they include the tax which I really love and wish more places did that. They also offer meal options with tamales and rice/beans and they have more food besides tamales. Plus they also sell some delicious bottles of hot sauce and salsa.

Got here because I wanted to try the tamales, we were in the area and this place is in a good location. The restaurant has seating inside and outside. walking right in we got greeted and attended right away so I liked the service. I tried the cheese tamales and I got them fast. There are plenty of drinks to choose from and also complimentary water. As for the tamales, they were different but good.

This place was pretty good, although I'm not sure if the food is authentic Mexican food or not. They have a wide selection of creatively flavored tamales. When I was there though, there were some tamales that they were out of. There is a tiny ledge table to eat on but they have outdoor seating. Service was very quick.
