Diablos BBQ Smokehouse

On a cold winter night, after a full weekend of Coupe de Montréal tournament volleyball, my daughter and I were gearing up for the long drive back to Toronto. Before tackling a 5+ hour stretch on the 401, I knew we needed a proper Montréal meal to send us off the right way—especially fresh off a GOLD medal win, we were in full celebration mode. Diablos BBQ popped up on the map, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The menu is straightforward, and the food quality is absolutely top-tier. As someone who’s been cooking over charcoal for years and has hosted plenty of BBQ gatherings, I can confidently say this is the real deal—authentic BBQ lives here. From flavor to presentation, everything was on point. The beef ribs and fried chicken were next level, and the brisket left me wishing I’d ordered more. Portions were generous, prices were more than reasonable, and the service was fantastic. The owner was especially welcoming—you can immediately feel the passion and pride he has in his craft and his restaurant. We left full, happy, and ready for the drive home. That meal made the night—and the long ride back to Toronto—even better.

The food was overall okay, with some ups and downs. The Caesar salad came out a bit too heavy on the parmesan, which made it a little overwhelming. At first, the chicken was missing, but we figured it out ourselves and the staff quickly fixed it once we mentioned it. The ribs were absolutely fantastic – tender, smoky, and full of flavor – definitely the highlight of the meal. The brisket, on the other hand, was just okay, a bit on the dry side and not as memorable. What really made the experience better was the service. The servers were amazing – friendly, attentive, and quick to respond once things were pointed out. That really lifted the whole dining experience.

A place with nice vibes and clear dedication and experience in serving their menu. While the ribs and brisket were solid, they didn't quite hit that peak "melt-in-your-mouth" level of juiciness. Still, the quality is high enough that it’s worth a visit to experience for yourself.

At first after reading a few of the reviews , I was quite excited to try this restaurant!! However, I must say that I left Diablos very disappointed and had urgent need to brush my teeth. The pork ribs were very, dry and not tasty. The bbq chicken seemed to be slightly undercooked and kacked flavor. But what was the worst offense was that there were many chicken feathers still attached to the chicken wings!! We asked the server about this , and he just said that "that's the way it comes from the supplier and they just smoke it without removing the 🪶 feathers. " Disgusting 🫣 The portion sizes are small.Prices are slightly high. The server never 6 asked us if we enjoyed the meal, and I'm pretty sure he could see from what was left in the plates that we were not happy.However, he did not address this. You can clearly see from the pictures that the chicken feathers are on the extremely dry wings and that we did not enjoy the meal. The French Fries tasted ok but was a very small portion. Lunch for two cost around $78.0 After looking over some past reviews, I'm wondering if they were submitted paid actors.?? As a "foodie" I would not recommend this restaurant.

Always my favorite real bbq place in Montreal. Easy to find parking and a full bar of options. I would highly recommend the bees ribs. One of my favorite.

If you’re not going there for the Dixie Normous, you might as well go to any other steakhouse / pub. Absolutely loved sharing a large platter with the guys. Food was incredible and overall a nice atmosphere.

The ribs are so delicious it’s heavenly!!! The brisket also hits right there in the spot! The fries are nice and crunchy and well seasoned with some kind of spicy. The chicken was ok, a bit dey but its fine. Overall, if you love bbq, you must try their ribs and brisket.

Went here for dinner, ordered a bottle of wine and some ribs, and while drinking, we noticed a rat crawl from under the seating across from us. I was trying to not let it bug me but then I saw ANOTHER rat crawl out behind it! Immediately got up and informed the staff, showing them the video. To my surprise, no one asked me where exactly the rats were spotted, no manager came (i didn't ask for one) and the 3 staff members just looked at me and one said "sorry, that's just how Montrèal is" and she can "assure me there's no rats in the kitchen." Clearly she must have an arrangement in place with Ratatouille and his little pals to know that for sure. I told her to charge me for the glass of wine so i could go and she asked if i wanted to pay for the bottle and take it with me. lol. It was at that moment I wished I were a Karen so I could point out just how out of touch their response and behaviour was, all 3 of them. I left and went around the corner to have some wings and fries at another place. Reported them to Quebec's food and safety.

We went there after reading all the 5 stars reviews on Google now I'm questioning the legitimacy of these reviews. The food was below average, the beef ribs were dry and didn't taste fresh the brisket lacking flavor It tastes like reheated food not fresh, the sausage was the worst thing ever really disappointed as I was very excited to try this place out. The drinks are ok and the service was fast, the place was clean. Will note recommend this place.

Delicious food! Service was quick and the food was hot! A must try in Montreal! We had the Dixie for 2 and we left so full! Everything was filled with flavour and a nice smokey taste.

Stopped here because we were missing our Kansas City barbecue. We got the platter for two, which included a little pulled pork, two slices of brisket, two pieces of chicken, and coleslaw, beans and gravy. Forgot the ribs which was the main part. Also, on the platter was french fries. The pulled pork was our least favorite as it was pretty dry. The chicken really did have good flavor to it, and the ribs were also fall off the bone tender but a little too heavily sauced for our liking. We also Got a side of pork belly burnt and they were good but again a little too sauced for us. Overall, not a bad place if you're craving some good barbecue.

Service was great and the food was bbq heaven. I had brisket and the husband had ribs. He couldn't put the ribs down! If in Montreal a must try!

if you don't want food poisoning do not go there! I ordered The plate of fried chicken through Uber eats. I was surprised to see how big the pieces of chicken were as I start eating the chicken I am surprised to see that the chicken has breading but also A slimy texture under the breading. As I continue eating I notice blood. I open the chicken and see that the inside is absolutely undercooked and very bloody. We immediately stopped eating our food and tossed it in the trash. Absolutely disgusting!

We liked this place! We were visiting Montréal and tried Poutine here. The second plate was good. Staff is very friendly and kind. We recommend this place

We found ourselves searching for somewhere to eat on a Saturday evening. Every place we went was packed and a long wait for a family of 5 including a 3 year old child. Then we found Diablos and the kind owner who went out of his way to welcome us to his establishment. He found us a table and his staff exceeded our expectations. Good food and exceptional service on a busy night. We left with full bellies and enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Highly recommend!

oh my god this place bro. my friends and i came here 4 nights in a rows during our week in mtl. the diablo mojitos are to DIE FOR. we got a bit crazy and had 2 each but watch out one will f*** you up!!! ribs are fantastic. mac and cheese is PERFECT. waiters are super sweet. such a fun place with great music at all times.

this place is GREAT. nick is so awesome. he was so kind to our group and genuinely brightened our night. he also makes the most delicious but still strong drinks. everyone should come here, and if nick is serving, then tip TONS.

Pretty good place, food is good but personally I thought the Mac and cheese was a little plain. Otherwise service is amazing and very helpful. The waiters speak English very well and are very friendly to Americans! Would definitely recommend, they also accommodated my peanut allergy very well! Music is fun too! EDIT: just saw a employee use the bathroom and not wash there hands

Seriously I had so much fun when I came here. The ribs actually had me so in love because I haven't had ribs that good in a LONG time. finger licking good. The restaurant has a wonderful interior and the music creates such a great vibe to dine and hangout in. My friends and I came here 4 times in one week. Definitely get the diablo mojitos and the ribs. Staff was also really friendly and had great communication. Definitely check it out if you go to mtl.
