The 16 Best Bakeries in O‘ahu | Eater

"Diamond Head Market is one of Honolulu’s most beloved bakeries. Locals come here for the blueberry cream cheese scones (more like muffin tops) and lemon crunch cake, another dessert Hawai‘i has popularized and made its own. To create the latter, soft cake is layered with lemon curd and topped with crushed toffee bits, making for contrast in textures and sweet-tart flavors." - Martha Cheng

I love getting my lunch and dinner from here. Place your order at the grill counter outside, then walk in to the market where they have great salads, sandwiches and cakes and pastries. I love their ham sandwich, chocolate ganache cake and carrot cake but I am sure everything else is just as good. I tend to stick to my picks although I really should try the other items they have as well. From the grill, the garlic shrimp is excellent and same for the hamburger steak plate and loco Moco. What else can I say….. it’s a really good place to grab a quick meal.

Google
What a great store—it’s the perfect place to grab lunch or a quick snack. They’re well known for their scones, and the banana scones were so moist and delicious. I’m looking forward to trying the lamb sandwich next time!

Google
This place is an absolute hidden gem. EXCELLENT from scratch food, incredibly reasonably priced, and a bakery with made-in-house desserts inside. Not only would I stop here again, I’d make a trip to Honolulu to go here. Especially recommend the honey lemonade, mixed plate, and teriyaki chicken

Google
Best scones on island? Yups🤙Tucked away off Monserrat Avenue near Diamond Head Crater and HCC is where this Market/grill/bakery is located. When you crave those blueberry cream cheese scones you gotta go here early... Snooze you lose. Moist and filling, a perfect complement to a fresh brewed coffee. Always grab the blueberry scones though recently the banana scones have been another favorite of mine too🤙5 stars.

Google
10+ years of chowing down here and I’m still obsessed. Teriyaki chicken rice plate? SLAPS. I get all rice, extra chicken, and I’m basically food-coma’d till tomorrow. But the real MVP? The cheesecake hiding in the bakery like it’s some undercover dessert boss—thick crust, melts in your mouth, topped with mango + blueberries. They don’t hype it up, but they 1000% should. Don’t sleep on it!

Google
Believe the hype. The grill is fantastic. The market is fantastic. Went here pre and post diamond head. The Arnold Palmer is to die for especially but really everything. Don’t expect fancy service, just good food at a reasonable price.

Google
Affordable, local bakery and take out grill. Their blueberry scones are delicious and more cake like, very moist. Also love their Okinawa sweet potato haupia pie. All the deserts are fantastic. It’s a must stop and worth the extra calories. We walked from our hotel 1.7 miles just to get there so we could burn calories while eating the tasty sweets. We also tried the salmon salad, salmon burger , teriyaki chicken with side salad and rice. All very Delicious. Just make sure you allow for 20-30 mins for them to cook the food as it’s made to order and there are several orders during busy times. Pricing is very affordable for Waikīkī / Honolulu area. must stop to try their foods.

Josh

Google
An awesome local business (please suppprt local small businness wheb you can 😊). Everything we had was so yummy especially the potato mac salad! I hope I can go back here soon.

Yelp
I came here twice during my vacation. I got the Surf & Turf plate for lunch the first time which was so generous, I couldn't finish it. Felt like I was committing a crime because it was made so well. $15.75 for Wasabi ahi, teriyaki beef, teriyaki chicken, garlic shrimp, char siu and salad. I sat on a bench down the road since I was using a bus to get around and there's no seating here. Blew my mind. Had coconut cake later and thought I was in heaven. Went back the second time later in the week and got the BBQ pork plate with rice and salad. Stopped in to the market side for a haupia creme cake slice. Freaking amazing.

Yelp
This was our neighborhood gem for awesome desserts (slices of cakes, pies, and squares) and yummy scones. My favorite scones are the Blueberry Cream Cheese and Cranberry Mandarin Orange Cream Cheese (Sunday and Fridays only). I always seem to arrive too late on the days of the Cranberry Mandarin Orange but heck the Blueberry is available every day. They have other flavors and the days that they are available on their website. I was always raving about how yummy the scones were and how they have a chunk of cream cheese (usually one chunk and a couple of stray bits) among the blueberries and how moist they were. These were the only scones that were still moist after sitting in the refrigerator for a few days. On Monday, June 10, I went to pick up some scones for myself and as a gift. After dropping off my gift of scones I was so happy to take a bite into mines and was shocked at how dry and stale it was. Also, the chunk of cream cheese looked like a layer of one of those Andes chocolate mints and that someone just put a thin layer on the top to make it look like a chunk. I couldn't even eat a quarter of it and dumped it. Fast forward four days later, I decided to try the other one that I had put in the refrigerator. For the first time ever, I heated it up in the microwave wrapped in a very wet paper towel. I was happy that it came out moist like how it usually is when you pick it up "fresh" from the bakery but again there was no chunk of cream cheese. I don't know if they modified the recipe but somehow I just didn't enjoy either of them and was so embarrassed to have dropped these off as a gift. I'll check back in the future and hope the recipe returns to how it was.

Yelp
This place has become a regular spot for me during lunch breaks at work. I really enjoyed the Loco Moco that I recently tried. This dish is a local favorite, and Diamond Head Grill does it exceptionally well. The beef patty is grilled to perfection, and the seasoning is packed with flavor. The gravy is also a standout, making this one of the best Loco Mocos on the island. But that's not all, I also had the chance to try their mushroom burger, and it's just as delicious as the Loco Moco. I do look forward to trying other dishes as everything on the menu sounds tasty. The service is quick, but you might have to wait a bit during the lunch rush. Now, if you're a fan of sweets you'll be delighted to know that Diamond Head Grill also has an incredible bakery. You can find a variety of cakes, pies, and scones and they're all worth trying.

Yelp
On our way to Haunama Bay, we stopped by Diamond Head to pick up snacks. This time, we picked up a slice of pumpkin pie with a pecan crust. It was a sweet treat that we enjoyed at the beach.

Yelp
Update on Diamond head grill ordered dinner for the fam tonight . Got here about 5:15 which was perfect we just beat the crowd once we ordered the line started forming. I ordered their mix plate which includes Hamburger steak , char Siu pork, and bbq chicken. All their plate lunches come with mix green with a creamy vinaigrette. I ordered my plate with potato salad . Just FYI if you substitute their salad with fries or potato salad it's additional $3.50 Wow! Over all it was tasty and I'll probably go back in the future . Need to support local

Yelp
Their banana cream pie, pumpkin crunch and lemon crunch are good too! I just wanna try every dessert they have because it's so good. They didn't have regular spam musubi, but one with egg, and also chicken musubi. It's like $3 something, more expensive than other places.

Yelp
I'm SO SAD! As of Feb 2024, Grill Hours are from 11:00am - 7:30pm, only. Which means they're no longer offering the Breakfast Menu. Wahhhhh! Its gone!! We were so looking forward to a hot breakfast plate after our morning walk. The windows were wide open, only because they were cleaning/prepping in the kitchen, but they definitely weren't grilling. So, we went inside the market to see if there was anything savory that caught our eye. Just to name a few options....Chicken Salad Sandwich, Asian Chicken Bahn Mi, Shrimp Cocktail, Roast Beef sandwich, and Scone. All looked okay, just nothing we were craving for. We were almost out the door when we spotted some hot and fresh Spam & Egg Musubi's at the register. Perfect! We grabbed a couple, jumped into our car, peeled the plastic wrap off of one end to bite in, and were ready to drive to the next destination. Enjoy!!

Yelp
I arrived a little before10am and the shelf was fully stocked. I picked up a lemon crunch cake slice and sweet potato haupia square. I can't pick between the two since they are delicious in their own way. If you are not a sweet tooth then the sweet potato haupia square is right for you. The layers of shortbread, sweet potato and haupia is well proportioned.

Yelp
This review is only for the banana bread. I haven't been back to Diamond Head Market & Grill since December 2012! There's a backstory to the reason I haven't been back but that is for another time. The bread was full of banana flavor. 4 out of 5 stars. The bread is thick in consistency. Soft to bite but somewhat difficult to swallow. The bread's consistency is sticky and will cling to the inside of your mouth. Texture and consistency of the banana bread is 2 out of 5 stars. Service was fast and efficient. 4 out of 5 stars. The market is small and full of products. Not much room to maneuver around with other people inside. Lighting inside appeared dim. Ambiance is 3 out of 5 stars.

Yelp
Diamond Head Market & Grill is a go to for delicious food from the market and the grill. The blueberry scones are really yummy . They are sweet enough and extremely good with coffee. There are all kinds of prepared foods, cakes and pasteries. The grill has been consistently good over the years with refined local favorites like loco moco, grilled salmon, teriyaki beef and pork Charsiu plates. Everything has been flavorful and well cooked. There is no seating so you have to take the food to go. But take your plates to kapiolani park and enjoy!
google avatar

Dominic G.

Yelp
This is a little hole in the wall, which u fortunately has no seating. The food is absolutely scrumptious. I ordered a Chinese style pork which was really good, and all of the plates seemed amazing. The salad was fresh and had some yummy dressing, and the sticky rice was great. The pork was obviously great and the meal in general was very filling. Overall I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
I swung by this small local biz on a sunny Saturday, post-farmers market around 11 am. The setup is neat: you've got the grill where you walk up, order, and take away your goodies, and then there's the market side, a treasure trove of grab-n-go items. Think fresh salads, hearty sandwiches, and oh, those famous scones - a must-try for anyone visiting! We ordered the special of the day, a chicken gyro. It was packed with meat, making it a hearty, feel-good meal, complete with a side salad. The star of the show was the miso ginger salmon sandwich. Picture this: moist, succulent salmon, a bit of a messy affair, but oh-so worth the cleanup. The potato salad? Well, it was good, but it kind of missed the mark for me. A tad heavy, and I reckon a sprinkle more of herbs would have cut through the mayo, giving it that zesty kick it needed. Service-wise, both the grill and market staff were a super friendly. Friendly faces, ready to help, and making the whole experience just that bit better. It's places like this that make Honolulu's food scene so wholesome.

Yelp
"Shades of Burgerland- the current incarnation" Before Diamond Head Mkt and grill there was Burgerland-- home of a delicious secret sauce burger and ono plate lunches. This was my favorite in the area, better than Rainbow Drive In for me. But that's another story. The market side has primarily salads and bakery items. Their scones, cakes and cookies are really good and are a must have if you visit. The chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are the crispy type and are ono. Blueberry scones are a favorite for everyone. The scones seem pricy until you see how large they are- definitely worth the price. On the grill side we are partial to their miso-ginger salmon salad. The honey mustard salad dressing is ono. The portabello mushroom sandwich is a keeper. Their mixed plate contains a homemade hamburger patty, char siu and shoyu chicken- when you are in the mood for animal protein- mmmmm. Parking available in front and parking on the street is also available. Many Diamond head hikers stop by here on the way back to their hotels in Waikiki. A treat for both visitors and residents alike.

Sandra D.

Yelp
Take out only. Lunch starts at 11am so we got there a few minutes before to stand in line. We had burgers and short ribs and it was good. Their potato salad was also very flavorful. We took the food to a near by park where we ate.

Yelp
This review is strictly for the grab and go/bakery side. For a grab and go shop some may argue that it's expensive but it's gourmet. For example this huge seared Ahi we got, it was almost $30 bucks!! But it was huge and prepared perfectly! We also purchased a salmon and it's was grilled just right. I can mention everything I ate- the scones, a wrap, a salad and for all items I'd say they were delicious. I'd like to try a cake or more desserts next time!

Yelp
Diamond Head Grill has been a go-to spot when the Mrs and I do a picnic table lunch at Kapiolani Park on a lazy Saturday or Sunday mid-morning. It has plate lunches, salads, sandwiches and, in a lot of people's opinions, their best, an assortment of desserts, including scones, pies, brownies and cookies. You could easily leave with more than what you had planned on, so if you're on a diet, be on guard! My go to plate is the Portabello Mushroom plate with brown rice and their tossed salad and house dressing. You get two, nice sized mushrooms. The gravy has a hint of vinegar flavor and the salad has some arugula, which is a nice touch. You don't feel guilty ordering this vegetarian meal, though they do have the usual standard plates such as loco mocos, hamburger steaks and kalbi plates. You can't go wrong with the scones, blueberry flavored is the one everyone likes, though I personally prefer the apple, which is only available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The pumpkin crunch is also out of this world. I'm also a fan of peanut butter and I notice they make a variety of PB desserts. Plenty of parking with people just taking out, however street parking is scarce due to the abundance of other nearby restaurants. Everyone there is super friendly and they do take phone orders and credit cards. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Stopped by to pick up some desserts the other day. We've eaten here many times before and ordered from the take-out window outside. But this trip was only for something sweet. There were lots of individual slices in the cooler. I was surprised there were salads too. It was hard to choose but I picked up a couple of pumpkin crunch, chocolate haupia cake, coconut bread pudding, and lemon crunch cake. Since I read about the blueberry cream cheese scone, I grabbed one of those too. Prices seemed to run about $6 and above for the cakes. Everything was delicious. Pumpkin crunch, lemon crunch and coconut bread pudding got the most votes. Definitely worth a stop.

Yelp
Boy, did we arrive just in time! My family and I decided to grab some food on a last minute whim and were super lucky to get a parking space as soon as we entered the parking lot. As soon as we ordered our food and grabbed a few desserts, the parking lot was packed and people were starting to wait for spaces to open up. I wasn't sure what food I wanted, and that's with me previewing the menu beforehand, but I finally decided on the mushroom chicken--thanks to the lady in front of us who ordered the same thing. My parents got the mixed plate and the grilled salmon and baby arugula salad (salmon cooked medium rare.) We also got a slice of their lemon crunch cake (because of course,) a key lime pie bar, a pumpkin crunch, and a blueberry cheesecake scone. We all loved our food, and would definitely go back in the near future. The highlight for me was my mushroom chicken--I have never had chicken that tender in my life. The gravy was also very delicious and I loved the way they served this dish with a giant portobello mushroom. All of the flavors worked so well together. I also had a bite of the teriyaki chicken and char siu pork, and both were delicious--super tender and flavored perfectly. While I didn't try the salmon, I heard it was tasty as well. Not to mention, it was still medium rare, even after the car ride home. That's a win in my book! As for the sweets we stocked up on, the lemon crunch cake and pumpkin crunch were delicious. I'm not a fan of scones to begin with, so the blueberry cream cheese scone was meh, I'd skip the scone section the next time. But I will say, compared to other scones I've had in the past, this was the best--not dry or hard as a rock. I have yet to try the key lime pie bar we got, but I'm sure it won't disappoint. Overall, I'd say this place is definitely worth a visit, whether you're a local or a tourist. Staff is friendly, food is awesome, and the prices aren't too crazy. What else could you ask for?
google avatar

Jane E.

Yelp
Love love love the scones here! Fresh and warm daily. All of the other bomb food is extra to top it off. Packed and ready to take for lunch at work or for a picnic at the beach etc. food is tasty and easy in and out. Staff is friendly, parking lot is easy.
google avatar

Yelp
The dessert and dishes are great here! Located super close by the Diamond Hike. This is a great place to stop by after your hike for a refreshing drink, cake, and meal. The service is really quick, but keep in mind there are no tables and chairs to sit, so most people get the food to-go. There is a small parking lot and there were always spots available so most people ate in their car The lemon cake is the top seller. Im not a huge fan of lemon cake, but I loved this one! Perfect balance of a spongey cake with crunchy bits on top. The BBQ pork plate was a good size for 1 person with salad and your choice of white or brown rice
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
Wow! What an awesome gem and honestly my favorite salad I had on O'ahu. We stopped here after hiking Diamond head in the morning on a whim and was not disappointed. The tuna salad was delicious! The best combination of flavors ... sweet, salty and savory. The prices are pretty affordable too! They have everything here from danishes to Bahn Mi sandwiches. The employees are super friendly and the food is fresh. The store is small but carries a wide array of items. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Diamond Head area.

Yelp
Diamond Head is my spot!!! Get the short ribs with Mac and rice. One of my favorite Hawaiian dishes... perfected by this restaurant, period! The environment here is incredibly fun. People drive up, park, and order thru the window of the restaurant. They pump out meals FAST. We went TWICE on our most recent trip. Just couldn't get enough. And love the convenience of being able to pick up incredible food and take back to our hotel! Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Lor Y.

Yelp
This is still my go to spot for cakes after all these years. The carrot cake is still one of my faves and it has a good amount of mac nuts in it. The chocolate cake with fudge was the perfect balance.
google avatar

Thao L.

Yelp
Service is great and they are quick! I tried the mixed plate and the teriyaki chicken plate. The chicken is perfectly marinated and so tender. I love how it's not dry. You can get choose brown rice or white rice. The portion is a good amount. If you like scones or desserts, check out the market because there are so many you can choose from. If you don't like during a rush, be sure to call in your order.
google avatar

Ka'ipo R.

Yelp
They offer great selection of local food especially non meat dishes like portobello mushroom and fish options also variety of scones and delicious cakes to order for parties/occasions. Service is fast and friendly.
google avatar

Fabiano D.

Yelp
The lunch plate is okay, nothing special, there are plenty choices for lunch plate around town for less $$$. What annoying is employees that do not care about customers. They charge $1 to get the dressing on the side, which is a pretty petty up charge, then still put the dressing on it don't give you what you paid for. Lack of respect for their jobs and people. The portions are small. Don't recommend and won't go back.

Yelp
Went just before open at 11am so got prkg easily. Prime time gets packed so watch out. Got 3 plates. - Chicken Mushroom for Ma. She said chicken okay, but really liked the mushroom. - I got the Hamburger Steak. It did last me 2 meals but was still kinda manini compared to most plate lunch places. - Hubs got the miso salmon plate - he said was good. We also got the fries to share...that was the best thing. Crispy and lil bit chewy. Enough salt to be tasty and not too unhealthy. Yum. I'd endure the traff over there just for the fries.
google avatar

Yelp
Dessert: 3/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: Loved the variety of things. Would I come back: Yes. Because of the variety I wasn't able to taste everything. The extended review... Dessert: Diamond head Market Torte - 3/5 - A very decadent dessert with all the fixins on it. It was good surely I wouldn't refuse it. Service: 3.5/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - Definitely feels like a corner store bodega. No where to eat so it's grab and go!
google avatar

Leslene C.

Yelp
Trying some different items this time...wasabi shoyu ahi salad and char siu burger...this was yummy...char sui pork is so soft its easy to bit into the burger and the bun is so so soft. I love when I order crispy fries its exactly what I get. The wait was a wee bit loong today, they seemed to have a large order but no problem no rush today, accept finding shade to stand in during lunch hour is a wee bit hard. So we went to get desserts inside : )
google avatar

Suri S.

Yelp
The dessert is always yummy here! They also exclusively carry Sage Creamery icecream too. The refrigerated food is a hit or miss here! Some sandwiches are lacking in flavor and does not taste that fresh. Will continue coming back for desserts!
google avatar

Carolyn H.

Yelp
They have the best scones on Oahu! The scones are pricey but very large, soft and so yummy. When I am in the area, which I was this week, I always stop by to pick up scones! This week, I bought the blueberry and banana cream chese scones for my office (and me, of course!), and they were a hit. I also purchased the grilled salmon with arrugula and the ginger salmon salads for my daughter and me, which were also very yummy. The next time in the area, I will, of course buy more scones, and try the sandwiches, which look delicious!
google avatar

Kristina K.

Yelp
Diamond head market is the best little bakery in Hawaii!! We love stopping in for scones. The blueberry, banana and apple cream cheese scones are phenomenal! Love love love. Highly recommend making a stop there anytime you are in the Waikiki area. There are multiple types of cake and desserts you can choose from. You cannot go wrong here!

Yelp
I would rate it four and a half stars. This isn't my first time around, but possibly my third or fourth in about 15+ years. What I remembered was that the salads were fresh and the pastry was above average. I also remember the price being so so high. This was the reason why I didn't go more often. I got the surf and turf, Chinese chicken salad, carrot cake and lemon crunch cake. This was the Sunday splurge. Starting with the surf and turf, it was good. They gave a decent plate lunch amount and a side salad which was favored a lot. The dressing for the ahi is unbelievably delicious. Ginger wasabi shoyu mix. Really tasty. The Chinese chicken salad had a nice kick of char siu instead of only boring chicken. They also added cooked onions which was different. It's a good portion, the flavor is spot on with the dressing and the crunch of the fresh salad is nice. Now moving on to the desserts. The carrot cake I have to say is the best on island. I loved the big nuts in there and the flavor was spot on. I will be back for more. The lemon crunch was tasty but the part I didn't care about was the crunch factor. Maybe it was cooked too much but that was like sticky sticky toffee under my teeth. I was afraid of losing a filling. The cake is delicious and the lemon curd is nice and tart. Way better pastry than I remembered. Service as a tad slow. I know everything is made to order. It's ok, I stared at diamond head, but if you can pre order so you're not waiting in the hot sun The ambiance is nice. There are no tables but you can take it to go and enjoy at home!! The prices seem comparable to prices after pandemic so it's not that bad. I remember those kinds of prices way back in the day so it was hiked high! It's like restaurant food at a take out place. Quality is great, quantity is normal, but I love quality over quantity as long as it's reasonable.
google avatar

Catherine P.

Yelp
Catering order review: my office ordered a few platters for lunch. The crudités platter, chicken Caesar wrap, and dessert platter. We had preordered the food and picked it up. The crudités platter was big with an interesting mix of veggies. The normal carrot, celery, cucumber, pepper, olive. But the interesting parts were sautéed mushrooms and steamed broccoli. The Caesar wraps were ok, not as flavorful. They also had chopped grapes if that isn't your thing. The dessert tray was a good mix: brownies, coconut sweet potato, blueberry cheesecake thing, and pumpkin crunch.
google avatar

Jan B.

Yelp
Upon entering the market the cashier was very friendly and greeted us with a warm hello. The market is a gem filled with a variety of local goodies. They had a variety of salads (i.e. pea salad which I haven't seen in a long time), sandwiches, and desserts galore. They have the best banana and blueberry scones so be sure to go early and enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
It's been a bit since I've been here but we were in the area and I needed to grab something small to eat before getting shave ice. Got inside and there was pretty long line but it went pretty quick. Diamond Head Market and Grill has a good assortment of different kinds of food, even Sage Creamery ice cream! My go to every time I visit? Their blueberry cream cheese scone of course. This time I got that and inari sushi. The inari sushi has 4 different kinds of sushi. My favorite was the furikake with age (or at least that's what I thought was inside of it). The scone was good as usual, very moist and just the right balance of cream cheese and blueberry. Will definitely be back again, maybe try something new again and of course a blueberry cream cheese scone.

T A.

Yelp
Lunch over at Diamond head grill., love coming over to this establishment. I usually order the mushroom sandwich but this time I got the mushroom plate. The balsamic jus that goes with it is a perfect complement. Husband got the mix plate. He's a loves his protein.
google avatar

Kyla W.

Yelp
I wanted to try their scones for some time and now I got the chance today. I would said a little disappointed because the scone is on the drier side although I really like the big cream cheese they put in. If I have to drive all the way to their store for purchase, I don't think I would do it.
google avatar

Melanie K.

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer of Diamond Head grill for years! I have been seeing the prices go up and up and up! So, I chose the hamburger plate for almost 12$, thinking it would be reasonable. When I got it, it was the smallest patty, super burnt and dry, ( there were large portions of blackened, hard meat) and the there was so little food in the carton! Very disappointed.
google avatar

Alexis P.

Yelp
The market is 5 stars! Lots of fruit, veggies, entrees, dips, sides, and treats. All the bakery items look so delicious. I tried the carrot cake, PB bar, lilokai cheesecake, and papaya. All were delicious in taste and texture! I also tried the coconut banana pudding and some kind of layer bar that had a chocolate cookie base with banana and chocolate pudding and whipped cream on top. All were so tasty! The grill is 3 stars. Nothing tasted bad at all but I was expecting more meat for the price. The sampler with char siu, teriyaki chicken, and hamburger patties with gravy was a really tiny portion of each meat. The kalbi ribs came with an average portion size but the ribs were very thin. Overall, I wasn't wowed by the taste and I was expecting more in quantity. There's nowhere to sit so be prepared to take your food elsewhere. It does have its own parking lot but it's a little small. The grill takes a little while to make your food but the staff was very very nice and grateful for our patronage.

Yelp
Best scorns! Banana cream cheese is my favorite. I like next day and toast. Always busy. Place is small but always clean and neat. Also I love the beef stroganoff!

Yelp
Lemon Bars or Scones, which is better? During the Pandemic of 2020 and local lockdowns, I'd go pick up a bunch of scones in different flavors just to satisfy my sweet tooth! Let me also tell you that Diamond Head Market is popular and home to the famous Signature Scones! It's probably not the healthiest thing you can eat it, but they're so good. Fresh is always best first thing in the morning. But as of today, I'm really writing about the takeout counter. Ordered a bunch of items off the menu. All delicious, made upon request. Perfect for lunch at the office, or dinner when you're too lazy to cook! If you can't make it to their physical location, use your favorite food delivery app!

Yelp
I love this place, there scones are the best on the island. They're big they're soft they're fruity and they have a chunk of sweet cream cheese in the middle of them. Their normal flavors are blueberry and banana. But they do add fun flavors on the weekends. This Store is a cute place to grab go, they have everything, salad sandwiches desserts, pudding's wines chips sushi, dips etc.... They're all prepackaged in a opened refrigerator. Things are pretty pricey but you live in Hawaii. And everything is delicious. And then outside they have a grill where you can order hot meals, they're made to order.

Yelp
I've been to the bakery side and love the availability of items they have for people on the go. Especially their signature desserts and scones. Ample parking and always great service.

Yelp
How is it even possible that I have not yet reviewed DHG, as my family calls it? This is our weekly go-to for takeout food. We LOVE it. All 4 of us - mom, dad and 8yo kids - LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!! Let's start with the take out window. From here, you can order the best grilled teriyaki chicken of your life, on a plate with fries or rice or brown rice (my personal favorite) and a tossed salad. That's my standard. My husband loves the tender kalbi beef. The kids go between the kim chee burger with fries and the teri chicken musubi, which is sold inside the shop. I've also had the grilled ahi, the salmon salad - every single bite is always just perfect, flavorful and yummy. But you're not done yet because then you go inside the market to buy other treats!! The desserts are the best on island. Sorry, Liliha Bakery, but DHG puts you to shame!! I have been obsessed with the lemon crunch cake for 20 years. I also love the giant blueberry cream cheese scones, the coconut bread pudding, the cheesecake - I mean, literally everything. My kids adore the butter mochi. Plus they have an offer various salads, veggeis, and side dishes, prepared and packaged so you can take with you to the park or beach for a picnic. Diamond Had Market & Grill is DA BES!

Yelp
I was a regular when I lived nearby. Back then (the later 2000s) it was considered "bougie plate lunch" but to me it's always just been good, clean tasting food. The line moves quickly and the cashier has a great sense of humor. We shopped in the little market store attached to this place while we waited for our order, and we ended up getting some of the best desserts we had during our vacation. I had the ever popular Pumpkin Crunch (portion big enough to last 2 evenings) and a decadent Peanut butter banana chocolate layer torte/cake. We took our food to Kapiolani park and enjoyed the sunset while chowing down. Perfect, simple dinner "picnic!"

Yelp
I really, really, really was jonesing for a chocolate chip cookie. Diamond Head Market & Grill have one of my fave cookies on the island, so I stopped there on the way back to the office. Kelvin Ro was there and gave me a chocolate chip cookie that they had just made! *happy dance* DID YOU KNOW THAT KELVIN TOOK OVER OTSUJI FARM?!? He hasn't named his new farm yet but the veggies from his farm are on sale at the market and being used in their dishes! I got some micro greens for salads fresh from the farm! I thought the price was totally reasonable given the amount you get and the quality. They are using the Korean daikon to make pickled veggies and kimchee. And it's driving me nuts that I can't remember what veggie he used to make his pesto but I want to try it! Their salads look so fresh. There are also grain salads. I'm super excited because there's a place close to work that sells healthy food that fits in my diet study! I'm going to be going here a lot! (Yes, I know chocolate chip cookies is not great for the diet but don't judge. I need some joy in my diet!!). My favorite part of this visit? Seeing how energized and passionate Kelvin is when he talks about his farm endeavor and how enthused he is about utilizing what he is growing in the stuff he is cooking up at Diamond Head Market & Grill! I am really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with! Kelvin is also growing pikake and crown flowers and selling lei!

Yelp
Chinese Chicken Salad $15 Comes char Siu, tomato, cucumbers, wonton, grillef onions, and chopped Romaine lettuce with sesame dressing. Don't swap the dressing. It could be enough for two as a side dish, but after a few bites, it's clear you gonna want one order to yourself. Me... I don't share. I phone in my order, and the counter service was able to find it quick for me to pay after I arrived. Today, the place was busy in the afternoon. Parking can get kind of nuts... so I recommend phone order ahead.

Yelp
This place has been here forever! Started buying take-out dinners back in the days... Grilled Salmon Salad was so good and always loved their cooked salmon, orzo pasta and papaya chicken salad! Their baked goods are popular too. I remember their blueberry scones... yum! There's lots of other desserts. See pics! A bit pricey... especially now... but once an while it's a nice treat!
