Dichalo Taverna

This is a genuine traditional Greek taverna that’s always busy, even though it’s a bit out of the way. It’s great for lunch or dinner, suitable for friends, family, kids, and couples alike. I recommend making a reservation to ensure you get a table. The food is simple yet very flavorful, served in smaller portions meant for sharing, which is a perfect way to try a variety of dishes. The design is traditional and minimalist, the staff are busy but attentive, and the prices are excellent considering the food quality and overall experience. It’s definitely worth a visit, and I believe once you come, you’ll want to return. A Greek custom is to always thank you with something sweet and/or rakhi after your meal. From me, it gets an absolute recommendation. ☺️

What an experience. The owner came to our table, chatted with us about our day, and then explained the menu, which is only available in Greek. For starters, we had tzatziki, both classics and spicy, with wonderful dark toasted bread. For mains, we had a ribeye steak and a lamb chop, with traditional potatoes. And a local white wine. We didn't miss anything. Highly recommended.

What a gem! The food was absolutely mouthwatering and the service was excellent. The menu is only in Greek, but the staff are happy to explain everything. The decor inside is beautiful, and it’s also lovely to sit outside on a warm day. The lamb chops were so good. We highly recommended!

What an absolutely incredible tavern. Food is simple yet spectacular. Raw materials are of the highest standards and flavors are strong and intense. The place is a bit hard to reach and definatelly needs a car but the place itself is nice with great atmosphere and service.

Best food we had in kreta!! We did not have a reservation, but the owners welcomed us and made us feel right at home as of minute 1. Greek hospitality is the best in the world. I overheard German guests saying it was the 4th time this week they came for dinner. Looks like we’re going to do the same! Greek restaurant like you envision it in your mind. The nicest hosts, the most beautiful setting, the tastiest, Greek food we had on the island of Kreta!!! The host starts by sitting with you and taking the time to go over the Greek menu. Great atmosphere! The owner was friendly and helpful! The dishes were unique and traditional, mostly made by hand without microwaves or freezers, truly a different experience from other restaurants. The food is amazing and is definitely worth trying! You won’t be disappointed with this Tavern!

Such a cozy, homey spot with real Greek vibes. The people here are simply amazing – warm, welcoming, and they make you feel like family from the very first minute. The best food I’ve had in Greece.
