I came the right time waited in line for about 2 minutes. I ordered the Dick’s deluxe burger, fries, and a root beer float. The burger and fries were good. Service was excellent and I received my order under 5 minutes.

Simply put, it is THE basic drive-in burger you get in the Greater Seattle Area. The regular, single cheeseburger is like a better version of the McDonald's single burger, and has a vaguely addictive, bet-you-can't-eat-just-one quality to it. The Deluxe is delicious if you want something heftier and enjoy a zesty relish sauce (I do, though I understand it's not for everyone). French fries are always dependent on one's personal preference; everybody has their own way they like them done. Dick's fries are thoroughly greasy and salty—I adore them, but again, others may not feel the same way. If you prefer a thicker, more potatoe-y fry or a crispier, less greasy fry, than they're probably not for you. My favorite order is one regular cheeseburger, one Deluxe, and one order of fries (plus a drink, of course). I usually grab a soda, but Dick's shakes are great when you want more of a treat. Service is fast, friendly, and convenient. One of my favorite things about Dick's is that they take very good care of their employees; it's always nice knowing that you're giving your money to a company that looks after their own. UPDATE: I made this review during a promotional event for the Everett Dick's location, prior to its grand opening (that's why the photos show it under construction). It has since opened. Also, you can expect the same experience from all Dick's locations!

It was late at night as we headed to our hotel from SeaTac, and since this place was along the way, we decided to stop by. It was my first time, and the cashier was really friendly, taking the time to explain the menu. He even gave us free ketchup. The burgers were honestly a step above typical fast-food fare like McDonald’s. The fries came out hot, but you had to eat them quickly because they got soggy fast. The cheap prices and quick service were definite pluses. Seeing a security guard made me wonder if the area is safe.

Google
First time ever, no line. Fries were hot, burgers were fresh and the service was great! Don’t forget the tartar! Delicious!

Google
We’ve always been told that we must try Dick’s on any trip through Seattle and finally got the chance to. Well, it was well worth it and I wish we’d tried it sooner!! Absolutely amazing burgers at a fantastic price point. The service style is a little different than your typical fast food, but it works for what you get with Dick’s. Quick, cheap, and tasty - what more could you ask for?!

Google
Simply the best! The Deluxe Burger is my favourite, but last week? After a concert? I maybe had a Deluxe and a cheeseburger, okay and fries too and a hot fudge sundae, ha! I always add the 20¢ onions because, why not? Dick’s has the friendliest service and great consistency with each location! It’s just yum!

Google
Before leaving Washington, we wanted to try Dick’s Burgers. I had the Deluxe Hamburger for $5.30 and a Vanilla Shake for $3.80—I liked it because it came with lettuce, beef, and dill. My husband tried the Cheeseburger for $3.80 and a soda for $2.30. The food was affordable and delicious! It was easy to order, and the cashier was nice. We’re glad we got to try it!

My kids love the milk shakes, burgers and fries. I got Kona coffee flavored ice cream in kid size cone. It was the perfect amount of deliciousness 😁

Yelp
Since my son lives close, he suggested we try this burger place. It was an old school drive up burger spot. Area around the place was clean, trash bins were not full and messy. No sitting area so ate food by our car. The burger and fries cooking was smelling good. Service was so amazingly fast. We were in awe. Menu is so simple. We got a cheese burger, plain cheese burger and fries. Loved it all. I really love the fries. I could actually eat a couple of burgers and more of the hot fries. We also ordered a chocolate milk shake. Too much chocolate. I needed to order a vanilla shake to balance. I took a picture of our bag but forgot the food because we were hungry. We will be visiting again.

Yelp
Burger meat thin as paper. Although once an icon in the Seattle area and previously known for value, Dick's has turned into an establishment that is capitalizing solely on the iconic and no longer food quality/value. The burger prices have doubled while the thin "sandwich meats" have become thin enough to border on being classified as vegetarian. Pry open your Dick's Deluxe and see what you're really getting; mostly bad bread and an essence spray of hamburger flavor. Go somewhere else for a good hamburger.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Consistency is key and at Dicks, that is what you will always get! I got 2 Dicks Deluxe, 2 fries, and a shake for me and my husband and kid to share. Delicious! Service is fast thanks to many open windows, and then you just walk back to your car and dig in! Yumyum!
google avatar

Denny A.

Yelp
Dick's added a plain cheeseburger a couple of years ago, answering my primary criticism! I wish the Deluxe burger also was available plain, but as someone who dislikes mayo and mustard, I'm just glad I can now enjoy a burger there along with their excellent fries and milkshakes!
google avatar

Anev S.

Yelp
I have missed Dick's greatly. It lived up to my expectations and really gave me what I needed for a late night greasy dinner. It's cute, it's fast, it's cheap, it's edible. What more can you want?
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
First time at Dick's. Lots of folks waiting to take your order and lines move quickly. If you don't know what you want just stand to the side and look at the menu boards. We ordered a hamburger, cheeseburger, fries and a strawberry shake. I had a side of tartar sauce too. Fries reminded me of In-N-Out, ok when crispy but soggy in spots. Still tasty. The cheeseburger was one small patty with ketchup and mustard. The hamburger was the same, minus the cheese. Pretty good. Didn't try any of the shake so couldn't tell how it was but it disappeared ;) I don't normally do burgers and fries but this was a recommended local institution and glad we went. Much better than your average burger chain. Plenty of parking, it's just in front of WinCo Food.

Yelp
Stopped in here after a late flight for burgers, fries & shakes. The burgers are on the small side, which gave me an excuse to try 2! The Dick's Special with lettuce, mayo & chopped pickles and the cheeseburger. Both were tasty, but the cheeseburger was the perfect ratio of cheese to burger, which made it the clear winner. The vanilla milkshake was one of the best I've ever had - it was very heavy on the vanilla. Service was quick too! It was the perfect spot for a quick bite!
google avatar

Sam Y.

Yelp
Cheap and consistent. Shakes are great, fries are weirdly addicting. Is it the best burger you've ever had? No. But at 1:00 AM it sure tastes like it is.

John D.

Yelp
I was there Thursday the 30th night a little past midnight. They had gone down to a few windows and the people in front of me were confused and taking awhile to order. The night time manager Cole stepped up and open a new window and got the line moving fast! He was really fast and apologetic! Great attitude even late at night!
google avatar

Lesly W.

Yelp
I always come here when I'm craving a burger late at night since it's the only decent spot open until 2am. My go-to is a deluxe with onion and tarter. They keep the prices fair despite the rising cost of inflation. The tarter sauce is bomb. Sometimes the burgers become too soggy if you don't eat it right away. Fries are freshly made but they bag it so fast that the amount of fries they give you can be inconsistent. Dick's offers a simple menu and is comparable to Shake Shack and In n Out. It's more affordable if you're on a budget.
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
I've only been to Dick's twice in my life, including tonight. I know that the menu has been the same for decades, but unfortunately I don't eat hamburgers (Just chicken), so the only things I've ever gotten here are fries, a chocolate shake and a root beer. Tonight I was hungry, but not enough to eat a full meal. I made an unplanned stop here and it turns out that fries and a chocolate shake, while not at all nutritious, was just enough. For $3 I expected a bigger shake, but the total bill was under $8, which compared to other places like Chick Fil A and Port of Subs, is a bargain. The service was friendly and I was able to park pretty close to the walk up window. I will keep this place in mind if I'm ever in the mood for a snack. I wish they had chicken or something else on the menu, but I get it. Tradition is not something to be messed with.
google avatar

Yelp
Simple fast food burger joint. There is no where to dine in or out. It does not have a drive thru, but the orders come out really fast. I'm not too keen on the burgers. There was really nothing special I could say about the food or choices.

Yelp
I've been enjoying Dick's Drive-In for over 30 years. Somehow I've never written a review... From the nostalgia of stopping with my dad on the way home from some random appointment, to memories of eating with college friends on the hoods of our cars, to walking down the street with coworkers, Dick's has been solid. Their tartar sauce is sweeter than most relishes, which I like but some don't. Service is ridiculously fast as, unless you're in line behind someone who's never been there before, customers usually average about 30 seconds before they're holding their food. So, for all these great things, why not 5*? The cost of the food has gone way up in the last couple years - maybe they were way behind on adjusting prices, but price increases have far outstripped inflation. That and their fries just aren't what they used to be. What was once a deliciously crisp handful of flavor has, in the last decade or so, become a wad of soggy potato. Even so, I know I'll be back - but maybe I'll just get one order of fries instead of two - you know, for nostalgia's sake.

Yelp
Favorite fast food in Seattle. Deluxe burger with fries and tartar sauce/ketchup Must try!

Ciara L.

Yelp
Service and price and taste are always excellent at Dick's! My cashier's name was Noah and he was so great at providing speedy service, yet getting in a couple laughs! Burgers, milkshake, fries are always great. No complaints. Sure, there's an outside line, but that's part of the vibe! Love coming here after a football game or satisfying late night cravings.
google avatar

Frank E.

Yelp
What a cool place. Good price, good food, great service, food delivered to the window before I could get my credit card out. Gave me a cup carrier as well. What's not to love.
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
Average in almost every way, extremely boring food in tiny portions. Their special is a tiny dry burger slapped on a sad bun some random lettuce, what a sad burger.
google avatar

Jacob S.

Yelp
Stopped here on a busy Friday night, was able to get my order taken quickly and my food as well. All I ordered was a cheeseburger, deluxe and a chocolate shake. Get back in my car and make my way down to Seattle when I realize they've given me fries instead of the cheeseburger. I wouldn't have been upset if it wasn't the soggiest and sorriest excuse for french fries I've ever had. Normally I love their fries but this time it was very disappointing as the deluxe was for myself and the cheeseburger was supposed to be for my hungry wife.

Mary W.

Yelp
I love this place! The people at the windows are always polite and friendly, they're fast and accurate and the burgers are great. I'm so glad Dick's decided to open an Edmonds location. My fave is always the Deluxe. Thanks Dicks!'

Yelp
ABSOLTULY never answer the phones here missing two burgers but what's the point driving 40 minutes just to argue with somone just wanted to say make sure to check the bags some people drive far but can't even do that... plus no vanilla lol

Yelp
Sunshine on a cloudy day! Growing up eating at this iconic establishment brings back many wonderful childhood memories with the family. The burgers taste just as you remember it ~ simple and succulent. Perfectly greased limpy fries. Chillin in the car with the windows rolled down. Folks tailgating and enjoying a break. Birds looming around looking for a handout. Covid safe ~ socially distanced lines, servers wearing masks, and already in place is the store front window with a small bank teller pass through. *This location has car port coverings for rainy days to keep patrons dry while waiting!

Yelp
Great local burger place. Just a simple place . Drive in only. You must give this place a try, you will be back. Low cost and delicious nostalgic Burger joint.

Yelp
They are fast friendly and the food is decent for fast food that has been around longer then I can remember. I was forced to go in the parking if the Edmonds Dicks last night.....this is where I don't understand the customers nar the staff here. I was driving home about 11:30-12 when I saw the guy creeping up on a lady in 99 right before Dicks.....well I drive around the block as fast as I can thinking she was in danger.....when I can up beside her she was white as a ghost and there was nothing I could do to help her.....well we drive through the parking lot at Dick we saw the guy and she jumped out of my car yelling at him why did he do that to her but now that she is in front of weirdo. You want to have a real conversation now, isn't that what you said talking about me being gay....... Not one workers are customer tried to help she has to be in her fifty's and this young guy and his girlfriend was giving her a hard time for being gay what's it matter she was not bothering them. Ending of story not one person except myself helped her the guy was young with a big white truck I hope he gets his in the end so be careful when out at night cause the customers and staff at Dicks won't help you if your in trouble

Yelp
This is my late-night "I need a burger" spot. Also my mid-day "Hey we're out grocery shopping let's grab a burger" spot. Aaaand my "I'm totally in the mood for a Dick's deluxe" spot. Not to mention my kiddo's "Mom can we get a milkshake?" spot. This location is great. They have recently installed a canopy over the waiting area so you can social distance and stay dry. The staff is just as efficient and friendly as ever and they keep that line moving, so the wait is not terrible, even on a busy night. I appreciate their adherence to current Covid 19 precautions; everyone is masked and gloved, and I appreciate that they expect customers to mask as well--this protects the customers and the staff and shows how dedicated Dick's is to safety.

Kay S.

Yelp
One of our favorites! Quick service, value priced food. We love this place even more now that they have recently added "plain" hamburgers and cheeseburgers to their menus. Just wish they had a few more locations around town
google avatar

Vincent L.

Yelp
This is what McDonald's supposed to be. Fast, cheap and taste fresh. One of the few places that open late in Edmonds/ Lynnwood. Hangout spot for gen A, Z and Millennials. The most expensive burger is only $5, in 2022
google avatar

Yelp
I grew up in seattle and dicks is a staple. I love the deluxe and soggy fries with a vanilla shake. Might not be everyone's favorite but it is mine. People there are polite and professional and get you your food as quickly as possible. Definitely one of my all time favorites.

Yelp
Dick's Drive-Ins are multi-generational burger spots in the Seattle area for my family. On my birthday this year, the 26th of August, I decided I wanted to try this location, the Dick's Drive-In Edmonds location, for dinner. I had not yet visited so I was eager to have some fries, burger, and a milkshake at the still relatively new location. We, my mom, my dad, and I, arrived a little before 5 p.m. on a Wednesday. There were lines, but none too long. Distances were marked out on the ground leading up to the windows where one walks up and places one's order as to where to stand and maintain a safe distance from those around you. Masks were also required in the line and order placing/pick-up area, not in the parking lots though. The area where additional protective gear, face masks at this point in time, is required is clearly marked off with a sign informing customers that masks are required. My dad and I got in line and didn't wait too long before placing our order. When we visited the location they did not have change, which was clearly posted by the order placing/pick-up windows along with a variety of different payment options. We placed our order, got the milkshakes and rootbeer first, then the special burgers (specials), cheeseburgers, and fries. The workers were focused and respectful in their interactions. After getting our food and drinks we headed back to the car where mom was patiently waiting for us and chose to eat in the parking lot. We all enjoyed our food and it was as delicious as we all remembered! I got the special burger, fries, and a strawberry milkshake, my mom got the special burger, fries, and a vanilla milkshake, and my dad got two cheeseburgers, fries, and a rootbeer. Soooo tasty, sooo good! Downed it all in a quick minute it was so good. The fries especially hit the spot. They are the good kind of greasy fries that are finger-licking good. An all around enjoyable experience.

Yelp
In the interest of full disclosure I worked for Dick's Drive ins as a night manager which finanancilly made it feasible for me to attend and graduate from the U. I knew Warn Gormley and I have been a huge fan of Dick's since 1970. Great fast food from high quality supply sources prepared carefully by well trained staff. My favorite is the cheese, coke 'n' fries combo which I lived on during my college years. I made wonderful friends and met interesting folks on both sides of the grill, had fun and got paid for doing it! A free meal, fair pay and an opportunity to work nights and go to school during the day...what could be better! I owe a great debt of gratitude to the organization. As a proud former employee I am proud to say, it's still a fine fast food value. My wife and I had lunch at this newer restaurant in Edmonds yesterday and we were not disappointed. See what all the fuss is about, stop by and meet some delightful people as we did yesterday.

Fergus F.

Yelp
It tastes almost like McD's, but the price is now the same, and the fries are still bad. You may as well just go to McD's as you don't have to stand outside in the rain, and the fries are way better. It used to be cheap, but not any longer. Do go there if you are in a hurry, as the huge lines from years past are now gone. Even at lunch time there were open windows. Walk straight up.
google avatar

Rob R.

Yelp
Old school drive in. What McDonald's once was before it became plastic corporate robot food. Solid burgers, decent fries. Walk up windows, super fast service. The money stays local, and they treat their employees right. Eat here.
google avatar

Craig R.

Yelp
Dick's Drive-In is by far the best in the Pacific Northwest for Burgers and Fries. They have hand dipped milkshakes in three flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. They still serve ice cream by the scoop in a variety of flavors on a cone or in a cup and you can even get a Sundae topped with your favorite flavor. I think you can still order a Rootbeer Float here also! Some people don't like the Dick's french fries and say they are too limp or greasy. They are fresh cut and you can watch them bring prepared from the time they are cut and soaked in big tubs of water to eliminate the starch before they are deep-fried. I've been enjoying their burgers and fries since I was a kid. It's a Seattle locals thing I guess. It's kind of like people who enjoy In-N-Out Burger from California.
google avatar

Tono M.

Yelp
Tasty basic cheese burger and homemade fries. Service was quick and efficient. Definitely worth the visit.
google avatar

Bobby J.

Yelp
1000x better than in-n-out. This is a Seattle signature fast food burger. I order the special because it comes with the sauce. If you're rating the burgers with poor ratings and didn't get a special then you know why. I always grab an extra tarter sauce and add a lil extra sauce to it. The double is too much meat to bun ratio. The other burgers come without the sauce. I also add a chocolate shake. Service is always fast and friendly. This is a drive in style so of course there's no seating you're supposed to eat it in your car. The only bad thing I can say about this place is the name. I hate saying, "let's go get some dick's," ... "I feel like eating some dick's," ...etc. it just sounds awful but it's worth the embarrassment.

Yelp
I grew up on Capitol Hill (Seattle) so I know what the Dick's on Broadway would deliver in the 70's and 80's. What happened? Today I went to the Edmonds location after a few years of hiatus due to a bad experience last time. Even worse now. The french fries were a big nasty softball of oil and spongy potatoes. Disgusting. The Special burger was basically a hamburger with a thin layer of mayo lettuce. Used to be in the old days that burger would stand proud and deliver, with crunchy lettuce not some nasty, soggy, old lettuce. I doubt there was even relish on the burger. Safe bet is a simple hamburger. Around 2016 things went downhill. Now they are putting out crap in the hope that no one notices. Even their simple cheeseburgers lack any hint of palate interest. So sad. It's like wishing Pizza Pete on Broadway was still around. I am done with Dick's Drive-In. It's an old sick cow in the pasture now. Back to the basics with Herfy's and Burgermaster, which have not strayed from their original mission of quality. Go to Burgermaster on Aurora always packed.

John W.

Yelp
Ate here many years ago at the drive-in in Ballard. It was my buddies favorite place to get burgers. This was back in the late 70s and I was not impressed with the hamburgers at all. Fast forward to yesterday my daughter and her friend stopped and got some cheeseburgers And brought home and I must say they were just as bad as they were in the 70s. I do not get the hype other than it's a local business. The one promising thing now is at least you can get it without cheese or without pickles back then it only came one way With everything.

Colin L.

Yelp
This company really ROCKS! They have very delicious, old-fashioned American food and most of their staff are usually college students or just anyone really wanting to work. If and/or when they make a mistake, they make it up to by giving you a free burger. Their burgers, greasy fries, shakes and everything - it is SO yummy to eat here. {Careful though - just eat there once in a while (so, watch that cholesterol).}

Richard R.

Yelp
The burgers are about the right size for the price. The milkshakes are definitely addicting.
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
Instant service. Plenty of windows open. Other locations could take a cue from this one. Crossroads often has a 20 min wait with just 2 windows open late night. (They did forget my tartar sauce, lol)
google avatar

Clifford B.

Yelp
lines are long sometimes but this place always smacks day or night Best fast food. Burgers, fries, shake, all dat on the set
google avatar

Yelp
Oddly terrible service lately, not sure if different management or hiring problem, instead of taking an order and having you wait there for it if it isn't ready, they have you step to the side and wait awkwardly before making you come back through a huge line of people, who are not only waiting to order, but that have also been asked to step aside to wait for THEIR food, just keep everyone in a line until their food is ready like you used to, their milk shakes are also no longer fresh mixed, they pre mix them and then stick them in a freezer for later use so that they have frost on the top of the shake, fries are almost never ready so if you ask for them, your gonna get shoved into the "wait for your food" line next to the ordering line.
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
Solid, cheap and given a one-star boost because of its long-standing reputation in the area. Like In-and-Out, take the limited menu and enjoy the well executed efficiency. Great shakes too.
google avatar

Mark Y.

Yelp
I don't come to this one very often but hey when you're in Lynnwood you head south and grab two Deluxes, one special, 12 cheeseburgers and five orders of fries. Case closed...
google avatar

Hillary P.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to the Dick's at the Edmonds location. I'm originally from California and knew moving to Washington that Dicks was the "In-and-Out" for the PNW. During COVID things location was very responsible in marking the lines with spots for social distancing and roofs so you wouldn't have to wait in the rain for your order. Parking was hard to find. They offer gift card options. The menu is simple and of good quality. If you need a crunchy fry this is not the place for that... these seems to be more hand cut and about speed ...they are more soft than firm. Flavors, portions, prices and wait time is definitely worth your time.

Richard J.

Yelp
First, let me say, I'm a fan of Dick's. A gourmet burger it is not. But for what they are, a relatively inexpensive fast food burger chain, the burgers are ok. The fries range from very good to disappointing, depending upon how soggy they are. My biggest complaint - and I hope Dick's management reads this - is that you don't need to use every part of a head of lettuce. There are some really distasteful portions of lettuce - in particular, the thick white ribs - that when one gets a big hunk of that in the burger, it ruins the taste. So please, be a little more selective in terms of the parts of the head of lettuce you use. Just the green leaves only would be much appreciated.
google avatar

Janine J.

Yelp
This hamburger stand as simple as it is has been around since the 1950s! It is iconic for anyone who lives in Seattle or visits. They only serve hamburgers, fries, beverages and ice cream. They don't need to sell anything else because the few things they offer have put them on the map for years!! They have 8 locations with the location near to the University of Washington- on 45th St. being the first. In 2013, Dick's Drive-In was voted "the most life-changing burger joint in America" in an Esquire.com poll. For several years Dick's has offered best-in-industry employee benefits such as a matched 401(k), 100% employer-paid medical insurance, and a $22,000 college tuition scholarship after six months of work. Definitely a "must-do" for anyone visiting Seattle!

Collin D.

Yelp
The best around it's so delicious and the entire menu is worth exploring. Best classic cheeseburgers ever!
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
The burgers here are garbage, I only go here when it's late and I'm desperate for something to eat. Clearly the the buns were frozen at one time. They taste/look like they have freezer burn. The burger meat is pressed paper thin and has zero flavor. The fries are soggy with vegetable oil, makes you physically ill if you eat them. This place is complete garbage, not sure why it's so popular. The staff is friendly though.
