The 16 Best Bars In London - London - The Infatuation

"The mood at Diddy’s is always strictly fun. The cocktail menu is long but delightfully riddle-free and helpfully divided into sections—‘spritz’, ‘negroni’, ‘margarita’, ‘the rest’—that you’ll still understand after your second boulevardier. On winter nights it’s like a house party, on summer nights it’s like a block party, but whenever you visit, check out the basement-level pink room which is covered in sateen and filled with giggling friends." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna

Where To Go When You Want To Dance But Hate Clubs - London - The Infatuation

"If clubs are impersonal, sticky-floored sweatboxes, Diddy’s is the anti-club. There’s a basement-level ‘pink’ room which is covered in sateen, shimmering fabrics, and cackling friends who may or may not be wearing feather boas. On winter nights it’s like a house party, on summer nights it’s like a block party, and by your third visit the bar staff at this Mare Street spot in Hackney will most likely know your name." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, sinead cranna, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley

Where To Have Your 30th Birthday Dinner - London - The Infatuation

"Perfect for anyone who wants to host a flat party but will not suffer the indignity of a balloon arch. We say this with total sincerity—think of your rug. It deserves peace, quiet, and no sudden spills. Instead, you and your favourite friends should take over the basement pink room at Diddy’s on Mare Street, one of those rare London bars where you can wear muddy trainers or a fluorescent feather boa and fit right in. Think house party without the heavy lifting but still with homely, colourful paper garlands, polaroids of recent parties, and the bonus of enough sateen in that pink room to make Liberace proud." - heidi lauth beasley

Diddy's - Review - Hackney - London - The Infatuation

"If clubs are impersonal, sticky-floored sweatboxes, Diddy’s is the anti-club. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and there’s a basement-level ‘pink’ room which is covered in sateen, shimmering fabrics, and cackling friends who may or may not be wearing feather boas. On winter nights it’s like a house party, on summer nights it’s like a block party, and by your third visit, the bar staff at this Mare Street spot will most likely know your name. Plus it serves good coffee in the day. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute" - Sinéad Cranna

Diddy's Bar is more than just a spot to grab a drink; it's a community where the drinks are amazing and the staff treat you like family. The banter is always lively, making every visit feel like a catch-up with old friends. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a quick pint and end up staying for hours, drawn in by the welcoming atmosphere and the genuine connections. Diddy's isn't just a bar; it's a place where friendships are forged and good times are always on the menu.

I came across Diddy’s by chance, and it quickly became my go-to spot for iced caramel coffee. It’s truly the best—consistently delicious every single time. I love it so much that I even order it in the middle of winter! Highly recommend.

Loved the atmosphere and friendly vibes, until the lady just shut it down, weirdly. Actively made me want to cancel my coffee while it was being made. Think she thought she was being funny, but it was territorially rude like she owned the place and clearly didn’t want you here. Even if she does own, that’s a wild way to attract customers who are excited to be here. Suggest she re works her humor for it to actually hit instead of make people uncomfortable. Lol.

Google
I created this account specifically to praise this bar. Diddy's makes an essential part of a tour of the East End and surrounding areas. You can hardly appreciate the place without spending at least 15 minutes in here, and you'll probably want to stay longer. The cocktails and mocktails are hard to beat even with the anachronistically low prices, and the service is refreshingly human and honest. You'll often see the green-haired owner Diddy herself behind the bar, mixing drinks quickly while managing the rest of the bar. She and the rest of the staff that sometimes take her place aren't forcing their smiles. If they're not busy or you don't insult them, they'll playfully talk to you almost as a friend would, even if you're just passing through as I once did. You won't forget them or any regulars who show up. If you're lucky, you may get to enjoy a generous slice of homemade banana bread for £2. If not, try the crisps and chocolate bars, and take home some spice-infused cooking oil. If you're not hungry but want to decorate or read, there's candles and indie magazines. The bar virtually transforms if you become a regular as I have. You'll soon find yourself in the middle of many vibrant characters, the same cheap prices, and days and nights bouncing between hours of calm and high-energy parties. It's part bar, part club, part community centre. Every day has something different, yet you'll still get the full experience and warmth, even if like me you usually only want some iced water. The aesthetics normally blend the now traditional flat and saturated pastel much loved by nearby middle class families with the urban grit which Hackney was known for during the 2000s. The carefully curated music selection amplifies this: grime and R&B most days, and more laid-back music (including jazz) on Sundays. Unless there's a party on like on some weekend evenings and nights, you will usually find an empty table or seat here instantly, even when most of the regulars are here. Lastly, do ask to go downstairs to see the bar's open secret: a glittery pink basement with cushions, colourful lights and a giant teddy bear.

it's not easy to articulate how special Diddy's is in a simple Google review. My favourite place in the world, Diddy has founded a community space that goes beyond coffees and cocktails. You'll find the best of Hackney here xx

I love this place it’s a beacon of hope for actual community, I found a home here because the owner gave me space and acceptance to find it… the coffee is very fairly priced for the area and banana bread is to die for! I’ve made a lot of friends here and love it so much - I only wish I’d found it sooner. Thanks Diddys!

Such a viiibe! I celebrated my birthday here, booked the little room downstairs which was perfect, but could also enjoy the space upstairs which is bright, open and just such a cool space. Service was amazing despite it being super busy. Great value cocktails! £8 for a negroni! £4 for a glass of wine! Amazing atmosphere especially in summer. Will be back very soon ❤️
