Three adults stayed here in April 2013 at the recommendation of travel blogger Rick Steves. We had two rooms: room 5 (2nd floor) had a double bed with private bathroom and shower, and a shared balcony that had a partial view of the castle. It is on the back side of the hotel so very quiet. Be sure to use the German rouladens (like garage doors that cover the window) to block out sun and any noise. Room 6 (3rd floor) also has a double bed but with a private bath that has a bathtub/shower combo. It is on the front of the hotel overlooking the Main Street. With the rouladens down it is very quiet. Both rooms were very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of towels, hair dryer and a mini fridge.
The hotel has a Michelin rated restaurant on site that we ate at one night. The menu is not in English and wait staff spoke little English so it was difficult to order. We were not overly impressed with our meals here, and the meat one of us had was very tough. We ate at nearby Kornhaus for dinner the 2nd night and were very happy. Breakfast however was good with breads and cruisants, jams, boiled eggs, cheese, meats, cereal, yogurt, etc.
Parking is available onsite but VERY difficult to access...you have to back in through a windy courtyard with lots of blind spots. Ask the owner to park it for you. We had a fighter pilot driving us so were able to do it on our own, but he also had to make a few attempts at it. They also offer free Wifi but its only accessible on one device at a time, and only in your room.
Would stay here again, but would eat dinner some place else. Be sure to pick up dessert from Cafe Decker and take back to your room to enjoy with the view of the castle.
