9 Local Denver Spots for a Great Bourbon Cocktail | Eater

"Downtown, in the Ballpark area, this ultimate whiskey joint is unlike anything else in the neighborhood. For those feeling bold, order Bulleit Bourbon straight up along with a 10-hour brisket sandwich on the side. Or, head down the path less traveled with the cocktail A Little Bit Sideways (Bulleit Rye, crème de banana liqueur and Fee Brothers black walnut bitters) and a plate of hot chicken sliders with a side of sweet potato fries." - Vox Creative

Had an amazing time at Whiskey Row! Our server, Gina, was an absolute gem — friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. She made us feel welcome right away and gave great recommendations. The food was delicious (highly recommend the (10 hours brisket!) and the vibe of the place was lively but still comfortable. Whether you're going for dinner or drinks, this spot is a must — and if you’re lucky enough to have Gina as your server, you’re in for a great experience!

I have a great time whenever I come through!! Everyone on staff is great, but the standout is Kara! She is always kind, attentive, detail oriented, and willing to help. Not to mention, her movie star looks and outfits. Never a bad time at Whiskey Row! Book a table with your friends! It's way easier and more fun than navigating the bar as a group

Google
I had the pleasure of being served by Gina, and I honestly can't rave enough about how great the service was. They found the perfect mix of professional and friendly — always there when you needed them but never overdoing it. What really impressed me was how well they knew the menu and drinks. Gina gave spot-on recommendations based on what I liked and even whipped up a custom cocktail that was perfect. Every interaction felt genuine and down-to-earth, like they really cared about making sure I had a great time. In a busy place like that, it's rare to get this level of care. Gina turn a usual night out into something special. I'll definitely be back and definitely asking for Gina by name. Totally a star on the team!_ Rolando

Google
If you're heading to Whiskey Row House and don’t ask for Gina, you're missing out on one of the best dining experiences you could possibly have. Gina isn’t just a waitress—she’s a total rockstar. From the moment we sat down, she brought the perfect mix of professionalism, personality, and fun. Gina has that rare ability to make you feel like you're her only table—even when she's clearly running the whole floor like a pro. Her warm smile and killer sense of humor made the night unforgettable. Whiskey Row is lucky to have her. We’ll 100% be coming back—and asking for Gina by name! 🙌

This is my second time visiting this place, and I really like it. The vibes are great and it’s always a fun atmosphere. However, my only complaint is about some of the bartenders. Not all of them—but a few—have a really bad attitude. It’s disappointing because good service can make or break the experience. Unfortunately, they don’t wear name tags, so I couldn’t say exactly who helped me. I understand that dealing with drunk customers can be frustrating-it comes with the job. Still, I enjoy coming here and hope management can address this issue so the experience can match the great vibe of the place. I haven't tried the food yet, so I can comment on that.

Google
Lexi is hands down the best bottle girl at Whiskey Row! From the moment we got to our table, she brought the energy, the vibes, and top-tier service. She was super attentive, made sure our drinks stayed flowing, and treated us like VIPs the whole night. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does — friendly, professional, and fun. If you’re booking bottle service, ask for Lexi. She’ll take your night to the next level!

Google
Every visit at whiskey row has been positive experience. I recently tried their food and loved the fries! Gina offers exceptional service and the atmosphere is amazing. Highly recommend !

Google
Every time I come to Whiskey Row, Lexi and Kara go above and beyond to make the experience exceptional. They’re always polite, helpful, and genuinely make us feel like family. Their kindness and professionalism have actually been a huge reason why we’ve chosen to come back and buy multiple bottles here. I would highly recommend requesting them if you want to have a great time and be able to just relax and know your being taken care of. Lexi and Kara really enhance the whole experience. Shoutout to them for always making us feel welcome!

Yelp
The gals that work here are just so nice. Jules is the absolute best! The service is amazing and she always makes it fun for a night out and has the best drink recommendations. Plus, she is absolutely stunning and so sweet!

Yesenia L.

Yelp
Jewels is a whole VIBE!!! She is so cute, attentive and deserves bartender of the year!! She is great!! Give this girl her flowers

Yelp
This place gets so busy and it's a cool spot to go out for people in their young 20s but I will say I was hit on by random men a lot more than I would've liked. The prices were pretty high but kind of expected for a clubby bar like this one. It's a fun place to go out and dance and the venue is honestly pretty nice but the bartender was a little rude to me and it's definitely an environment where people go to meet new people which can definitely be fun depending on the vibe you're looking for. I would come back and give it another chance sometime and if you're just looking to go somewhere and party with some young folks this is a good spot.

Holly F.

Yelp
Came here for a bachelorette party and Jules was awesome and made awesome shots! It was a great time.

Mason W.

Yelp
The bartender jules was amazing will definitely be back because of her she set the vibe for the night

Denise M.

Yelp
Waitress didn't pay much attention to us but we left a tip at the end. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and paid cash. when we wanted to order more drinks, the bar tender argued with us about why we didn't leave a bigger tip and refused to give us any more drinks. she questioned us why and that she wasn't coming back to us. We left and decided to go across the street and they didn't complain about our tips. The bartender did leave us feeling that our service was not good and enough. Never again will I or my family or friends visit this establishment again.
google avatar

MoMo A.

Yelp
Zero stars by far the worst service There is literally barely anyone at the bar and all the waitresses are just talking to each other I want a drink She's opening all the Red Bulls I have to wave down the girl each time to get a drink worse hustle I have ever seen Great outfits Music great
google avatar

Billy K.

Yelp
I feel like an absolute douche master for having been here and essentially "checking in" to further prove my bad decision, but hey. It happened.... It's been said already, meh drinks, over priced, and a 4% venue fee for the privilege of being ignored in a dead slow bar. Roof top was closed for some reason. Long story short, I wouldn't put my name on the outside of this place. Too many great breweries within a stone's through to be bothered with sub par everything.
google avatar

Shay B.

Yelp
Such a fun place with really really good food. Never a dull moment, usually live music and dancing on the weekends. Great place to people watch. Service is good. Whiskey burger is to die for, sooo tasty. One of my go to places before and after games.
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
Everyone should go once or twice, over priced everything and the drinks are eh but it's always one of the most poppin places to go out and I think it's going to stay that way. Locals do not go here unless the whole friend group insisted. We stick to Five Points or Front Porch at night and might slide over Riot House to grab a table act cool for a while and show face.

Will G.

Yelp
Be aware that if you take an open seat at the bar for 20+ minutes, couples who 'were there before' will get security to remove you. Horrible experience, will not return.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
We came here for a bachelorette party and we had a blast! The DJ was amazing that night! We danced our butts off! The drinks were maybe a tad on the spendy side. BUT! We were getting ready to leave and were waiting for our friend to come downstairs, and the employees offered to give us bottle service for an amazing price! $.02! Don't ask how because I don't know haha! It was a great experience!

Katherine D.

Yelp
Me and my two friends went here for the Avs game and the place was slammed. We ended up getting two EMPTY seats at the bar and the bartender cleared the drinks and half eaten food from the area too. We sat there long enough to get multiple drinks and two belligerent individuals came up to us and said they were sitting there previously and had just gone to the bathroom. They were SCREAMING and cursing at us to leave and we refused since they were gone and left their seats and empty drinks for 15 mins. They ended up grabbing security and the shortest, smallest security guard with a tough guy complex ended up KICKING US OUT. The bartender agreed that we deserved those seats but I guess if you go here you can leave your bar seats unoccupied for 15+ minutes and still "have rights to the seat" according to security. Anyway, first time there and won't be back! :)

Yelp
First time visiting Colorado and the city of Denver. While exploring, we stumbled upon Dierks Bentley Whiskey Row. As Wisconsinites we naturally ordered the cheese curds. We saw the menu read "Nashville hot cheese curds" so we were intrigued. Upon receiving these are our thoughts. 1. Thick breading, 2. Cheese/breading ratio is off; 3. Overall flavor was good 4. In a blind taste test, I would've been fooled thinking this was a Nashville hot boneless chicken wing. Otherwise, service was great and it's a fun environment. I would recommend! Bonus point for serving Busch light
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, I try to avoid this place like the plague, but I find myself stumbling in here with friends every now and again. It's okay, not really anything to get excited about. Just another Colorado sports bar with a lack of diversity. Staff: friendly. Interior: larger than expected. Food: pretty chill for bar food.

Yelp
Alright, if you're looking for a killer spot to dance the night away in Denver, you've got to check out Whiskey Row! The location? Prime. It's right in the heart of the downtown bar scene, close to Coors field. The DJs deserve a shoutout. Spinning tracks from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, it was like a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Didn't know how much I missed those tunes until I was dancing to them! Speaking of dancing, the rooftop space is huge - plenty of room to bust a move and take in those awesome city views. The bartenders? Fast and friendly, dishing out some quality drinks without making you wait forever or empty your wallet. Impressive for how busy they were. And the crowd? Such a fun mix of folks. All ages, all vibes, everyone just out to have a good time. Security is high here. I believe they may have had some issues in the past but I'll say I felt very safe to have a good time with the number of officers who were there Saturday night. Honestly, had an absolute blast and I'm already making plans for round two. If you're in Denver and looking to have some fun, Whiskey Row should be on your radar!

Yelp
Lively bar with great styling. A little pricey but hey, you're downtown! I must give props to whoever designed this place!

Yelp
Dierk at LODO (Lower Downtown) Denver is a good place to be. Live music with good atmosphere. Food quality is better than most of the pub there. During nighttime, the street is blocked off for pedestrians only. I got several local brew beer like 1492, voodoo ranger, avalanche. Beer is fresh cold. Love the drink. The upstairs rooftop is also good view overlooking the ballpark. I like pork belly BBQ, slider, Devil egg. Pork belly and slider has good tastes. Music is country. Some of the some is good for line dancing.

Yelp
I went here earlier today with my family who was visiting from out of town and we all had a pleasant experience. No complaints whatsoever! And I encourage everyone who goes here to stop and check out the plaque on the building right next door- it's amazing and hilarious (I've included a picture). Though the security guy checking our IDs at the entrance seemed to take his job a little too seriously, as I don't think I've ever seen someone try so incredibly hard to portray themselves as "intimidating" when checking IDs on a pretty quiet Sunday afternoon...

Yelp
After the Rockies game, we came here to have a few drinks and partied our asses off! Had a great time with a great whiskey variety to choose from. We came, we drank , we danced our asses off, and had a great time! This place is awesome! A great experience and I would highly recommend coming by and checking this place out! Staff were all friendly and professional

Yelp
food - 30/50 service - 19/25 ambience - 19/25 total - 68 /100 drink was good , food was alright! honestly cannot do country music... went since my friends wanted to go. so def not a spot for me but im sure others. ended up packing out after a rockies base ball game.

Lin G.

Yelp
Brooklyn the best bar tender ever ! Margs A1 without a doubt. You know who to ask for when you show up
google avatar

Shannon F.

Yelp
I was very upset to realize that they don't even play country music here. I was not the only guest to notice and be turned away from it. Bartenders also cared more about serving talking with their friends and were less attentive to people they did not know. We only stayed to finish our beers before going elsewhere.

Yelp
UPDATED review. went again for a second time after "riot hospitality group" was so generous to give me a gift card in the mail after my first poorexperience here. thank you so much for that!! this is a cool environment to hang, drink and have a good time. i will say, you can not hear anyone over the music. the food is still very mediocre and nothing to ride home about.
google avatar

Kyra C.

Yelp
Honestly nothing what we expected. I would be embarrassed if I were Dierks Bentley to have my name on this bar. They didn't play country music, the bartenders barely dressed, and place just seemed so dirty and gross! Would not go back.

Yelp
Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row made its grand debut to Denver on New Year's Eve and they have been serving up a modern gastropub experience since. We visited Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row for brunch and had such a fun time. We arrived at Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row and were seated in the main dining room downstairs in one of the booths. The aesthetic of Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row is contemporary American with a retro twist. There are numerous old speaker boxes serving as decoration, televisions throughout the establishment, live music, DJ setups & a rooftop with yard games. Our server Renee was sweet & attentive. She gave us some great food & drink recommendations. General Manager Lex was high energy and it was apparent he was passionate about Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row and his team. Lex was moving out on the restaurant floor the entirety of our meal ensuring that every customer and teammate had what they needed. Dierks aptly named their brunch menu the "Bad Ass Party Brunch" so you can expect fire throwback tunes from the DJ & a lively crowd. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm. We started off our brunch with some drinks. We went with Dierk's Lemonade and the Brunch So Hard. The Dierk's Lemonade is made with Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey, fresh muddled raspberries, lemon juice, simple syrup, lemonade and sparkling water. The Dierk's Lemonade cocktail was super refreshing and the taste reminded us of a summer afternoon. The whiskey brought out a delicate smokiness in an otherwise sweet & tart, sparkling mixed drink. We all loved this cocktail and we will definitely order it again in the future. The Brunch So Hard is a bottle of Campo Viejo Cava Brut Champagne, a carafe of orange juice, & assorted berries. The Brunch So Hard certainly got our brunch buzzing & we enjoyed several mimosas topped with raspberries & blueberries! The Brunch So Hard set up had us grooving to all those throwback tunes in no time. For Starters we had the Bavarian Pretzel which is served with honey Dijon & beer cheese. The Bavarian pretzel was lightly crisped on the outside and had a beautiful golden color. The inside of the pretzel was warm and tenderly fluffy. There was a hint of salt in every bite. My favorite dipping side was the beer cheese For Entrees we had Chicken & Waffles and DB's Avocado Toast. The Chicken & Waffles are buttermilk chicken tenders, white cheddar cornmeal waffles topped with honey jalapenos and a maple chili glaze. Sweet, sticky, spicy, crunchy, tender! The Chicken and Waffles were a savory Southern comfort entrée that hit the spot. The cornmeal waffles were fluffy and stacked with fried chicken tenders & jalapenos. The honey jalapenos and maple chili glaze layered in a feisty spice that we really enjoyed. DB's Avocado Toast is made with avocado smash, maple chili, pickled onion, corn, goat cheese, lemon vinaigrette and spring mix. The avocado toast was a lighter and healthy entrée option on the menu. The sweet corn, goat cheese & maple chili really upped the flavor profile here.

Yelp
St. Patrick's Day .... Soooo Busy ! So the crowd is a bit younger than myself and my friend (female) we went there with a group of other friends, we all went our separate ways just to explore ... well what an experience that was! In the hour we where there Not Once Did We Get Asked If We Needed Anything! we went upstairs. There was a DJ plenty of bartenders and servers, but so super crowded that you could not even walk with your beer/cocktail at your side (waist) . My girlfriend and myself finally found a table we sat down tried to get one of the waitresses to come over to take our order. The waitresses and bartenders were dressed in green tiny crop tops and flared white skirts.... We sat upstairs at the table for I'm going to say about 20 minutes got completely ignored so he got up and went to the bar. No big deal finally got the beers that we wanted. Walked through the crowd carefully as to not get our beer spilled on us made our way downstairs where it was less crowded. Found another table to sit on close to the bar. Of course it was more bartenders down there more waitresses, and like I said less crowded as I mentioned at the beginning of my review. The crowd was a little bit younger as were the servers/bartenders tried to get the attention of a server again completely got ignored they just walked by us. I don't know if it was our age. Well, OK, I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say that it was probably our age that did not get us served. NOW I Don't Want To Be Using The Discrimination card Butttt... My Girlfriend And I Felt That The Reason We Didn't Get Served At Our Table Was Because Of Our Age After feeling totally ignored, we decided just to call our Uber to just go ahead and leave. The namesake of the building "Dierks Bentley" is in his 40s and I don't think that he would like to know that ass ladies being in our 40s were treated the way we were because of our age other than that the place is great and the prices were reasonable for downtown But I don't think I can go there again because of the way we were treated.

Yelp
Went in for happy hour on a Friday evening around 4pm, after arriving in town. Was not busy at all and sat at the bar. We had a few draft miller lites each, lines were good, clean beer for draft - I normally go with bottles. Split the pretzel based on the bartenders recommendation, it was excellent! Both the cheese and mustard were great with it! We also ordered a burger to go, which didn't have a lot of flavor. All and all great place for happy hour!

J J.

Yelp
I have never met a bartender as insufferable as the one that was there this Memorial day weekend (she has black hair light eyes). She completely ignored my guy friend and I standing there for 30 MINUTES! Everyone else right and left from us was getting drinks and she pretended like we weren't there even when we were literally in front of her. No the bar wasn't packed people were all upstairs and barely coming in. She needs to find a job at a drive through where her attitude can match the establishment. We went upstairs where the bar was packed and we had our drink within 5 minutes from the male bartender. The music wasn't great and we left within 20 minutes to el patio.
google avatar

RiZz B.

Yelp
Terrible service. Our waitress was rude and unable to do the simplest of tasks. Waited 45 minutes for our drinks. Walked over the bar and was told we couldn't order drinks and would have to wait till our waitress brought our drinks. Food was cold. You could not pay me to eat here again.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
First time here and it was a success! My friend and I arrived around 10:30-11pm on Saturday night. There was a line but they kept in moving! We didn't have to wait outside for longer than 10 minutes. Once we were in the bartenders were quick with the drinks too! Definitely speak up to get there attention if need be once it gets late in the night because it got packed ! We stayed on the bottom floor because the DJ was lit (mix of everything!) There was fireworks which was our favorite part too lol. If you stand by a section sometimes people invite you up on the couches to dance so don't by shy! This place was huge, definitely go with good company and be ready to dance the night away!

Anthony G.

Yelp
Fake country bar. Rude staff and hardly play country. Turns into a club. Also all the bouncers are huge tools and treat people like crap. Go to grizzly rose if looking for a real country bar
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
Fun place - great location - Service is very good - beer is cold - Band set up is great - huge place with lots to see and do -
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Great bartender service. A silver hair security guard unprofessional and putting his hands on me out of nowhere inside the bar asking me to leave for getting my foot stepped on by a heel and reacting in such a way that was apparently aggressive and yelling ouch! Unbelievable after spending $100+ on the first bar I arrive to after landing in denver I get top of my foot bruise and forcefully removed. Will never return nor recommend. 2 stars for the drinks and prompt bar service.
google avatar

Natosha M.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Denver and my first time trying out Dierks. This bar was super cute! I love the theme. It's decorated so nicely and it's actually very spacious bar which I like. They have brunch and a rooftop but we didn't go upstairs. We just wanted to grab something quick so we sat at the bar. The waitresses were very nice and we didn't have to wait too long for our food or drinks. The food was actually good also. Everything we tried was pretty tasty. I would love to go back and check out the rooftop the next time I go back.

Justin J.

Yelp
Amazing bar! If you enjoy getting kicked out for something that had nothing to do with you shortly after wasting 80 on shots! If they need dates of when this happened I'm willing to provide this for footage. Security needs to learn how to do their job instead of just kicking out anyone they see.

Mark S.

Yelp
Awful attitude from the bartender. Very nasty girl... she even took the plastic water cup back from me just because I said I was going to leave. It's Denver and I'm dry as her jet black hair. Sorry your establishment doesn't take Apple Pay but at least I asked before placing an order. And instead she was rude and went back to complain to her coworkers like I did something wrong. I have zero interest in ever coming back here and it's a shame.
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Bartenders suck. Beer was flat. Music was trash. And the bouncer was name calling and power tripping. Zero stars.

Teri B.

Yelp
Believe I saw racism right in front of me here. I was in a group of friends and one of our friends went first. We realized we were in the wrong line so got under the rope to get in the right line (no one behind us). The bouncer took one look at our Asian friend and denied him entry. He wasn't drunk or anything. I don't want to make assumptions but we believe it was because of race. Very disappointed in this place and would like to see the reason they denied him.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I wanted to come here for the connection to Dierks and the food. Both were disappointing. There is nothing w Dierks in the place. The food was mediocre and th music was too loud! The crowd was more bar like and less dinner. Glad I decided against my elderly in laws and toddler coming to dinner. It's VERYclear that this was a restaurant that Dierks just slapped his name on and then disappeared. Every drink was mediocre too w friggin bar ice in the old fashioned. Do not call yourself a Whiskey anything if all you have is a handful of bottom shelf whiskey. Could've been done so much better but was nothin less than disappointing for two Dierks bently/ whiskey/ food fans.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Had such a fun time this weekend before and after the Kenny Chesney Concert. We had brunch and our Bartender Eric told us to come back later to do a guppy shot of a Scooby snack. Didn't even know what that was but he was so much fun took care of my grandma when I had to step out and make a phone call for 20 minutes. He's the best. Scooby snacks are delicious and I will practice my skills. Their spinach dip is the best I've ever had
google avatar

Chuck M.

Yelp
Loud, poor service, expensive pretty much sums it up! Very crowded, teeny bopper crowd, not country music! Lol

Rachael V.

Yelp
Atmosphere is great but...... that's pretty much all this place has to offer. I ordered American burger, basically it's an over priced Big Mac. Burger was drenched in their "house sauce" which made it super messy and soggy. Fries were seasoned with like a rosemary seasoning. Husband got their wings, nothing too special about them, small and over cooked, ranch dressing had a weird taste. I would say stay local, don't get trapped into these tourist restaurants!!
google avatar

Sallie E.

Yelp
First visit to this place for brunch. We were excited because we enjoyed one of the AZ locations (Gilbert). Very disappointed. The drinks had no alcohol in them and were pricey. The food was good but when it arrived we had no utensils to eat it with and the waitress just walked away in a hurry. My husband had to go find silverware for our table. By that time, our food was cold. Update- the email provided is not a good email. They appear they want to rectify the situation but it's bogus. Great job Diercks Bentley!

Yelp
Updating my review to 0 star if possible!! No Jordan's allowed to enter is basiaclly saying no black people allowed in. When the past couple of weekends we've been in there with Jordan's popping bottles. FUCK OUT OF HERE with that!! I can't come in with 200 dollars on my feet but you welcome someone who bought sneakers from Ross for 20 dollars!! My money is as good as the white people money! This is a race thing and I am livid!!!
google avatar

Jason P.

Yelp
Ashley is amazing, Ari is amazing the bartenders here are first class. The old LoDos guard turned it over to some amazing people.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Place is extremely busy on games days. Service was alright. To be fair it was pretty busy. All the games you can watch with two eyes.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
We were greeted by Ash and Taylor when we sat down. They both were extremely friendly, Ash has been there since it opened on New Years Eve. Taylor was extremely helpful in giving us suggestions for local attractions. She actually talked us into Rockies tickets. The place was very clean. The Bavarian pretzel was delicious and all the cocktails we got were delicious. Highly recommend this place if in town!!
