"Diesel Filling Station closed at the end of 2021 after 13 years in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. The building was listed for sale last fall. Rumors circulated that the property, once home to an old gas station, was up for redevelopment. The distinctive building even appeared on an episode of the TV series The Walking Dead, which was shot at various locations in and around Atlanta." - Beth McKibben

We came for sunday brunch and dungeons and dragons with the Atl Dungeons and Dragons group. The place is very cool, the patio is gorgeous. Our server was attentive even with 50 of us at 8 or 10 tables. I had chili cheese fries that were delicious. The beer was cold, and we ate looking forward to coming back soon! Thanks for having the group there, it was a super fun afternoon.

Disappointing visit. All we wanted was a few beers. Hard to get service. Beer selection was limited. Lines for mens room even though the place was not close to full. The outside seating area is good... if your server doesn't play hide and seek.

I am giving only two stars for a couple of reasons, but I should say first that we didn’t have any drink of food in this “sports” bar. Seeing from outside, this place doesn’t look like a bar at all. It looks like an old and abandoned gas station. Once you enter, things don’t get any better, old and outdated. The worse thing is that we were looking for a place to watch a Sunday NHL game and they told us that they were going to stop sports on tv, and do a viewing, so we couldn’t even be talking out loud. I’m sorry but if you do put sports at least on some tv’s ... you are not a sports bar.

The geek trivia was fun and food was alright. Good service but the smoking inside is not ideal. Plus there was only one hard cider available which was on the sry side. Not my taste. Very small parking lot.

Great service and great food in a relaxed dive-bar setting. This is the perfect fit if you're looking for some burgers and beers without any pretense in the Highlands. As a full-on dive bar, it is a smoking establishment, so don't go in expecting this place to be something its not.

The burgers were good and well thought of how the ingredients were put together. Good beer selection. Not much seating, since it was an old gas station, but the patio was great. People watched on North Highland Ave and had a good time. More food than I could eat, the burger was big and a plate full of real potato cut fries.

In reference to the review below describing an altercation with the bouncer, as a witness to the event, I can promise that is completely exaggerated. The staff handled themselves in a professional manner and were very patient. I moved to Atlanta a year ago and Diesel is the only bar I found that I immediately fell in love with. The staff, the regulars... they're all so welcoming. Great food, great people, always a good time. If you're someone looking for a great local dive bar, a place to watch sports, a place to play trivia, or even just a beer and a burger-- you'll love this bar.

The trivia is fun, but not particularly engaging. The beer selection is good, if a bit small. People in my party (not I) got the burgers and the pizza and said both are phenomenal.
