Dietz Stadium Diner

Had a perfectly fine meal in this long-standing institution in Kingston. Met a friend here. One of us was in a breakfast mood the other for lunch. Both were easily accommodated as could dinner be accommodated if you were in that mood. Fairly standard Diner menu with a large selection of egg dishes for breakfast sandwiches wraps, Panini, etc. for lunch And salads had a huge selection as well as Italian dishes, broiled fish, meat, selections, etc. Their soups change every day. We sat in a booth near the window and it was perfectly comfortable. Companion had eggs Florentine, which was pretty much eggs Benedict with spinach. Came with a pile of home fries. He was happy. I had one of my favorites, the happy waitress sandwich which if you’re not familiar as an open faced grilled cheese, normally served with tomato and bacon on white bread. I modified it to use rye bread and no bacon. I also got an order of coleslaw rather than the included fries. It’s an impossible dish to ruin as all it takes is melting the cheese on top of the bread. If you look at the picture, I was a bit disappointed that the bread was not covered by the cheese, however, in a very pleasant conversation with the owner on my way out, she pointed out that rye bread is a lot bigger than the white bread they usually serve it on. She had a point. The coleslaw was amazing. Finely shredded with just the right amount of mayonnaise and sugar. The owner told me they get a huge amount of takeout business for the coleslaw and I’m not surprised. The service was unfortunately not great. It was efficient, but the waitress was not at all friendly. An attempt to make a joke, or even comment on her love is greater than hate T-shirt did not evoke a response. Thank youse did not get your welcome in return. It was actually the bus boy that came over and asked me if I would like a glass of water, never offered by the waitress. A perfectly fine Diner and when in Kingston, I would certainly return. Next time might try the desserts.

Sunday afternoon lunch crowd. Busy but plenty of seating. Building is old but everything spotless. Hostess and server could not have been nicer. We ordered a Cob Salad which was gigantic, fresh and delicious as was the Deitz's Chicken Sandwich. Prices were excellent. We drove 45 miles to try it and it was worth the effort.

I love diners and Dietz Stadium is one of the best. Been here at least 10 times and it always delivers. Food is a click or two above regular diner fare, made from quality ingredients and very tasty. Good service. Nice vibe. Great place

Just got back from Canada with the wife … so on a long road trip … was looking for anything yummy and found this gem! Walked in at 8:30 (they close at 9) they didn’t even bat an eyelash. Super nice and welcoming along with Delicious food (salmon, meatloaf, crab cakes)!

Had a great breakfast meal on a Saturday. Dined outside and only had to wait five minutes for a table. Service was excellent and attentive. Food was hot, fresh, and tasted great. Standouts were the mushroom omelette and the French toast. Also loved their home fries! Would definitely dine again when in Kingston.

We called in our dinner order close to closing time, and the staff couldn’t have been more gracious. The server on the phone kindly declined to take my credit card information, simply trusting that we’d make it there—and they’d still be there—by pickup. That kind of warmth and trust is rare these days. After a long day and drive, the food was ready to pick up and exactly what we needed, and the kindness made the food even tastier. We’ll definitely be back!

First time to Kingston, NY a lot of firsts in the past 24hours. The Dietz Stadium Diner is very cordial, wait staff friendly and breakfast excellent!! The menu is great so come hungry and select your choices. Prices are very reasonable. Generous portions!! I ordered the Garden Omelets with Toasted rye bread with butter and cranberry juice. Yummy!! Come and enjoy this diner!! Five stars!!

I've eaten here many, many times over the years. The service is efficient and "nice". The food is always well prepared and tasty. They make a fabulous chicken salad sandwich, as well as a really good BLT, tasty soups, and excellent omelets.

Kingston, NY - such a great diner! The food is excellent, plentiful, and prices are super. No wonder it was still very busy at almost 2pm on a Sunday. We ordered the souvlaki combo platter, Dietz chicken sandwich deluxe, and a short stack of buttermilk pancakes. All very good, with plenty of leftovers to take home. The service is quick yet diligent, and the owner was there to personally greet customers. There is a spacious outdoor patio, which was nicely decorated (we came in early November so it was autumn and Halloween themed). My only gripe is that the ladies' bathroom was not the cleanest on the occasion we visited, which makes me wonder... Diners can be hit or miss but this one meets the mark, so rates a 5 in the category.

3.5 stars - Food was just alright but huge bang for your buck! Rounded up because the value was really good for portion sizes. We got the biscuits with gravy and eggs, an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, strawberry French toast, and shrimp in a basket meal all for $42.9 before tip. Food came out in about 10 minutes, our favorite was the popcorn shrimp and French toast.

i knew the Service was going to be horrible from the moment they asked us for our drinks, food was ok. nothing special, can tell ingredients aren't the best quality, i never have written a bad review about any place, but this was disappointing the way the person was serving us. Our busser gave us better service, So i left them a tip as well, More than the person serving us

When hubs gets into his feels about time-warped diner breakfast, there's nothing taking him away from that. And because we were in the Kingston area anyway, this was it. Dietz shares(?) a parking lot with Deising's Bakery. My Lox+ toasted Bagel "Delux" had ALL the trimmings in pieces. Instead of perfect onion circles, they were like cut in fours, the "Delux" Lox plate included peppers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, instead of capers (which I don't eat anyway) these folks use pimento-stuffed olives ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and the tomatoes, were perfect as you would expect them- sliced. All this on a large bed of iceberg lettuce¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It's how Dietz does it. If only my server took what I initially told her I wanted- which was 'lox, on toasted bagel, tomato and onions and cream cheese'. THAT'S IT. So much food was wasted. But, I loved my freshly-made Vanilla Egg Cream. My drink was refreshing- even in almost 30° weather, wasn't neither too sweet nor bland and the vanilla taste was pure and hubs enjoyed his waffle. Typical Diner inside, ventilation was ok and service was wonderful.

Decided to go for breakfast. This diner is only about 15 minutes from me. it definitely looks like the 1970s inside. Nothing much has changed in all these years. They had some other good breakfast specials so I decided to go with their biscuits and gravy sausage gravy with potatoes and I added an egg the service was very friendly. Some locals were sitting at the counter around With the waitress looks like the owner may have come out and talked to them as well. My food came out and it looked very good. The sausage gravy had a good flavor. I didn't see that many chunks of sausage in the gravy however. The potatoes were cooked very nicely Crispy and tasty the egg was made just right. The biscuits were fresh and fluffy. Definitely a good value as well. Good Hardy portion I've heard that the burgers are made at the diner. Too often diners just get those frozen burgers and they all have the same consistency and taste. Out of the good number of diners in Kingston. There's one on the main street downtown. That's pretty good as well. Plus one that's a little further down the road I think there's even another one not too far from that one but out of the four this one is the best .

We ordered take out to pick up after a day out in the Catskills. We both ordered burgers. They were prepared correctly but nothing stood out about the food. The person who took my order was efficient but not particularly friendly. When picking up the order, my friend went in. He said that the counter staff wasn't too friendly but that one of the workers was very kind. So, mixed reviews on service. The restaurant was very busy when we stopped by- it appeared to be clean and well- maintained

This place is serviceable if you need something to tide you over while waiting for the bus as it's pretty much next door to the Trailways bus terminal. Portions are huge but bland. Despite what it says on Google, there is no wheelchair accessible entrance, though we really appreciated the large and well distanced outdoor patio.

Everyone here was friendly and the food was tasty. It was also reasonably priced. Great diner atmosphere. Definitely recommend the Stadium diner.

Originally planned on going to another diner but it wasn't opened yet so we checked to see if anything else was open nearby, and we came across this diner. The food was DELICIOUS, great crispy skinned sausage links and the hollandaise sauce was sooooo good. Everything was great! The food, the service, just everything! Very clean and very brown (and not in a bad way), great diner atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Every single time I order my food to go off door dash it's wrong. it's always wrong. Who ever takes the order does not know how to read. It's ridiculous.

It's an absolutely amazing place to eat... If you can get inside... We order here from DoorDash all the time. We have never ever had a bad meal from here. The menu is humongous! Some of our favorites are the Leo omelette, (lox, onions, and tomatoes), the chili, (amazing, with just a little bit of spice to it,) as well as the roast pork loin, and the pot roast. Both are beyond delicious, the gravy is very good as well, and it's not too thick or too thin, and the pork loin comes with a fantastic stuffing. For our sides, we absolutely love the creamy coleslaw, the pickled beets, which also come with onions, and even the applesauce is delicious. Also, on everything, the portions are immense, and we always get at the very least, two meals out of one dish. The shakes are large, thick, and just how you would imagine a Diner shake to be. My partner's favorite is the strawberry shake. There are pieces of real strawberry in it. The one reason we are taking away a star, is because it is not handicapped accessible We went to eat at the restaurant the other day, and there were no ramps. There were two sets of steps in the front of the restaurant. They said they would help us up the steps in the back of the restaurant, but my partner, who is handicapped, did not feel comfortable using them. Apparently they have outdoor seating but it does not do any good on a cold day in March. Other than that, we cannot gush on the place enough Until the weather turns nicer, we will just continue to order to go.

So I needed a quick meal before returning to the City I get the Dietz must be an old German who opened the place, way back when? The stadium I don't get. Where's the stadium? The place is old school diner. I ordered onion soup, which was just onions in a broth. No bread, no cheese. I guess that's healthy? For main meal I ordered the pot roast open sandwich. Which was nothing special, kind of bland. Broccoli steamed. No real flavor Baked potato...boring. Well maybe I ordered the wrong thing? Ok better luck next time...if there is a next time?

Came here afterI tried something different, their stuffed crossaint Western omelet. I don't know, but the Hollandaise sauce on top ruined it. The sandwich wasn't a sandwich. Cutting it was just as messy. Either way, it lacked flavor, and the home fries were just potatoes barely cooked. I don't know if there are many diners or restaurants nearby at such an early hour, but Iwouldn't recommend what I had.

This is a traditional diner with large menu, large portions, reasonable prices and decent service. If you are expecting gourmet food you are in the wrong place. Service is always been friendly and efficient.

There is truly nothing better than a 10/10 diner. Efficient and friendly service, great food and classic ambiance. Came in on a Saturday for brunch and it hit the spot. Definitely recommend coming! Meals are fairly priced and very fresh. Everything came out pipin' hot.

Stopped in here on our way to Howe Caverns based on some reviews we saw. The place was busy definitely a local favorite with staff on a first name basis with customers. We were promptly seated in a booth and looked through the extensive menu. They have an all day menu which made ordering that much harder. My partner opted with the croissant eggs Benedict and I got the shaved beef sandwich, I switched the cheese to cheddar and added cheddar to my fries as well. When the food came we were a little surprised to see they put the hollandaise sauce on top of the croissant which made it less of a sandwich and more of a traditional eggs Benedict, so a tip for anyone getting this, ask for the sauce on the side. The beef sandwich, while flavorful, was a bit dry, some au jus on the side would have been clutch. All in all the food was ok, probably wouldn't go out of my way for again next time I venture upstate.

Stopped for Friday lunch. Adequate parking in a lot. Ordered lemonade: fantastic, best I've had in ages. Garden salad delicious, fresh tomato, lettuce; great bleu cheese dressing. Pastrami sandwich too dry. Great service. Friendly ambiance, not loud.

Run of the mill neighborhood diner I ordered typical diner fare that could never be messed up in a million years , and it wasn't PANCAKES, SAUSAGES, BACON & EGGS However, no outlets at the tables to do work ? I get it's a small town but cmon , people work remote now , definitely a missed opportunity No natural juices ( ones without high fructose corn syrup) on the menu Time for this diner to make the necessary changes and not be left in the flint Stone Age

My friends and I dined here to have brunch. This was my first dining experience at Dietz Stadium Diner. There is a full menu for every meal. My friends and I were happy with their meals. I had the stuffed french toast with strawberries and whipped cream. The customer service was excellent. I am looking forward to dining at Dietz Stadium Diner again in the near future.

Dietz surprised me. In the pleasant way. For a long time I sort of avoided them because I had another "favorite diner". I see now that this was a mistake. Dietz rocked! And now that my former favorite diner has fallen from grace - sadly due to new ownership - I bring all my diner dining to this lovely establishment. Especially in the warm weather when we can sit on their awesome outdoor patio!!

We were looking for something not to far off the interstate. This was the closest (less than 2 miles). After eating there, I would have driven 20 miles out of the way! The food was amazing! Large portions and served hot. Extensive menu options, so there is literally something for everyone. Very friendly staff. Our table picks were: eggs Benedict, Biscuits and sausage gravy, French Dip.

Oh, it just doesn't get better than this. Massive portions of delicious food served by kind, engaging people at incredibly reasonable prices. This is the quintessential diner experience, and we never leave without another full meals worth of leftovers. A BIG shoutout to an iconic and wonderful place.

Lots of good food, with the largest selection of breakfast lunch and dinner items I have seen under one roof. Fast and friendly service, and sizable food portions. Left there after a large breakfast stuffed and satisfied.

Very nice outdoor seating with big umbrellas and efficient waitresses! Hamburger is large and tasty but would have loved it more if it were on a brioche roll Chicken souvlaki was delicious and portion large Iced coffee was delicious. We enjoyed our lunch!

The chicken noodle soup was excellent. The house salad was fine. Carrot cake excellent. Service very good. The prime rib - horrible. I love diners but I also live by a simple rule. In diners, stick to burgers, breakfast and dessert. If you stray from that, you will probably not be happy. They are simple restaurants for simple food. I strayed and I paid, but more on "paid" in a moment. I ordered the prime rib medium. The first attempt was shoe leather well done. How that was even served to me was amazing. Nobody noticed that it was insanely well done? The second attempt was sort of kind of medium but it was still tough and dry. This is why you stick to burgers in a diner. Let's just say that this place is not a fine steakhouse. So I sent it back after I ate the salad and soup that came with the meal and before the entree. After two attempts, I decided not to eat dinner there. In a lifetime, I am sure that I have sent a good number of meals back. This was the first time where they charged me a la carte for the soup and salad when I did not eat the entrée. Not that big a deal and I just paid the check, but it does tell you something about the owner. It's a nice looking diner but I would not even go back for a burger or breakfast. I know it's a little thing but you shouldn't charge a la carte when the entrée is sent back because it was terrible. It was not sort of terrible. It was terrible. Here is a little business tip for the owner. This is what you say when you serve and re-serve a terrible meal. "I am so sorry and embarrassed that your prime ribs were both terrible. Please. Is there anything else I can get for you? If not, please here's a desert on me and of course no charge for the meal." That gets you a second chance with this customer. Your way, you will never get a second chance with this customer. In fact, what you got was a terrible review and all the review did was tell the story you wrote. One more thought. You should have come to the table to make nice. I saw you. You saw me. That's how to handle a terrible customer experience. Not by hiding near the register.

The waitress dropped the ketchup on the floor and picked it up and served it to us, we were sitting in the outdoor seating area. I spoke with the manager about this and she thought it was ok because it was in plastic packets. Poor service and very unprofessional Management.

Very good coffee and food! This place was hoppin but they run it so well our party of 7 didn't have to wait too long! Staff was very friendly and prices super reasonable. I ordered the Dietz chicken omelette it was very good and plenty of cheese just the way I like it! Husbands big breakfast was as described I tried the sausage from his and it was delicious!

Excellent food ( eggs w corned beef hash, apple & walnut pancakes). Great service and nice "diner" atmosphere. Clean bathrooms too! We will be back to try more selections!

The Stadium Diner NEVER disappoints. Over the years, they've been so consistent with excellent tasting food and large portions at a reasonable price. Their staff are friendly and very attentive. During this pandemic time, they have a nice outdoor seating arrangement. If you go for lunch today, you'll also have lunch for tomorrow. Enjoy!

this establishment is not particularly for all minorities. We requested a booth and was told by Natalie at the front desk there were none available and she sat us at the bar for Sunday breakfast, moments after we were seated a couple was placed In a booth directly behind us not to mention the workers choosing to drink and leave there glasses in front of us out of all the people seated at the bar. Of course we're the only blacks In here this morning, the treatment we received has been horrible from the moment we've entered the establishment.

Owner was awesome. We had an emergency and she was highly attentive. Staff helpful and friendly too. Highly recommend. Thank for all your kindness

Tasty food for a very reasonable price, convenient to the downtown Hudson area. My husband and I both have chicken quesadillas. Very hearty portions. Very tasty definitely would go back again if I am in the area.

I'm so beside myself , I have been going to Dietz for over 20 years, with inflation being a issue today, I get it but a Turkey dinner for one should not cost 27.00 dollars , then to get the attitude on the phone and then in person was unacceptable, may E it's time to cook more at home!!!!

We stopped at this diner while just passing through and it was such a delight! Our meals were delicious (super fresh ingredients in the Greek salad) and the staff were all so delightful, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!

Yes, it's just a diner but there's always something special about small town USA and family owned businesses. The food was good and it came out super fast. I had a cold salad platter with tuna and it was MASSIVE...so much food for under $10! The fries were awesome too. Service was great and the staff works very hard. It seems like everyone there is a regular (a good sign), and coming here feels like coming to someone's home.

Ah MAZING!!! The options were endless and the staff was buttoned up! I'm from the west coast and definitely looking forward to going back next summer.

Dietz is great for a sit down meal or for picking up an order. The service is fast and friendly and attentive. It's a cozy place to go whether you're walking around Kingston, just got off the bus , finished a game at the stadium, or feel like a nice helping of comfort food. I've been going for years and the food has been consistently good and the menu has something for everyone.

Easter 2022-WOW!! What a delicious meal on a special day. I had one of many holiday special choices today. Soup, salad and pudding accompanied 2 thick pork chops that were cooked to perfection with a cranberry apple sauce. Potatoes, stuffing, vegetables and side gravy completed the entree. Friendly and efficient staff always makes Deitz Diner a go to choice along with consistently good food.
