I celebrated my birthday today with my love, my kiddos and their significant others. We had a wonderful lunch DiFiore Ravioli Shop - Ellington. I have driven by this place several times in the past two years but i am always on the way somewhere and in a time crunch. Not today though!
If you have not been there - go! They have a small dine in area and serve freshly made pastas, pizza, and grinders. We brought our own wine but they do sell drinks in a cooler. (BRING GLASSES OR CUPS AS THEY DONT HAVE THEM)
The food was amazing. Michael and I both had the Shrimp and garlic ravioli with artichokes and capers. It was served with a few pieces of focaccia bread that was perfectly baked. Michael who doesn't usually go for pasta was quite impressed. He is still talking about it (he wants to go back and order more for tomorrow ) we each had left overs so he can eat that for dinner. Lol.
Brandy Charland and Julie had the butternut squash ravioli. I had a small taste and it was OMG delish! Sweet and savory and the pasta perfectly cooked.
Jeremiah had the ravioli in a pesto sauce. I didn't try that one but he said it was delicious as well.
Kevin had the traditional ravioli in a red sauce. I tried a bit of the sauce on focaccia and it was light and flavorful but not sweet. My opinion it was perfect!
We brought home a few ready made meals of eggplant parmigiana (my favorite ) and a Chicken Piccata (another favorite).
This was by far one of the best meals I have had out in a very long time.
Even thought the dinning was not more formal, I think we all preferred how it was set up - think relaxed italian home dining. Very comfortable, small , warm, and inviting.
There was so much to look at in the retail area from fresh made pastas, sauces, salads, breads, oils, vinegars, cookies, candies, and desserts. We all agreed it was the perfect spot and a great pick!
Do your self a favor and check out this little pasta shop in Ellington, CT. You will not be disappointed.
