I’m honestly still in shock from my experience here. I ordered a poutine and discovered a cockroach or some kind of bug in it. When I brought it back to the counter and calmly explained the situation twice, the staff member screamed at me and said she didn’t understand what I was saying. Instead of addressing the concern respectfully, she walked to the back and showed the food to the kitchen staff while completely ignoring me for 2–3 minutes. Then, right in front of me, she took out a can of RAID and stared at it, like that was somehow an appropriate response. She finally turned to me and asked if I wanted her to make another one. Obviously, I said no and requested a refund. She told me she had to call the manager, which she did — but once off the phone, she handed me my money without a single word. No apology. No acknowledgment. Nothing. Not only was the situation disgusting, but the complete lack of professionalism, basic courtesy, and food safety awareness was appalling. I will not be returning, and I strongly urge others to check their food carefully if they choose to eat here.

Google
Best poutine hands down. I always make a point too visit when I come back. The burgers are incredible too.

Google
Food isn't great nor terrible. But it sure as hell isn't anywhere good enough to cost $28 for a medium poutine and a burger (and that's without tip)...

I just moved out near this restaurant. Thought I’d give a try. What a vibe of a place, I had made a mistake in my order, and they corrected it with no problem. (I don’t like relish and mustard) and forgot to ask to remove it. Poutine one of the best ever and the burger is a solid 9.5/10 I got the double buck and poutine buck. Definitely a cheat meal for me, but was super worth it. Give it a try yourself!! You won’t regret it. Nice staff too.

Google
Very hot inside ! No water glass offered ! Regular food, poutine was the same as everywhere else. Some chose to eat outside (39c) as inside was even worse. No.repeat for me.

Google
What a joke! No food tray??? The waitress gave me a look like I didn't tip her well. You guys literally serve fast food with less quality service than McDonalds... I have to ask her to give me a fork for my poutine??? No thank you !

If you are a foodie on a local eats quest, it's worth the trek out here to check out the OG location from 1929. Nearest Metro stop is Monk on the green (1) line and from there less than a 10 minute walk. Staff was friendly and super nice. The thing to get here is the famous Buck burger. I got the double Buck. Being served upside down just means you get the juicy patty side first when you chow down. Unbeatable first taste. Lots of historical artifacts and newspaper clippings around and merch for sale.

Tasty food, delicious burgers and fries. Good service

Yelp
Ordered via Uber Eats. Can't speak to the in-house experience, but the burger I received, the double buck, was the greasiest mess of a burger I've ever had. The brown paper bag was soaked through with grease. Some might say that's a good thing, but I ordered my bun Dry, which I assumed meant toasted. Imagine my surprise when I peel back the wrapper and it's not just soft, but sodden. Couple that with the incredibly small, soggy, unsalted 1 inch fries, and I cannot say I'm a satisfied customer. The best I can say about the food was that it was edible, which is the lowest bar to clear in these times where a meal out is more a luxury than ever, and it's the only reason I'm not rating this a one. The fact that this experience single-handedly motivated me to make a Yelp account should speak for itself. I hope for all the regulars that this is just an outlier, but I will not be taking the chance again in the future.

Yelp
Only good things to say about these delicious Hamburgers. I never tasted a burger so good. I grew up eating the burgers. My father ate them. My whole family agrees that these Hamburgers are the best you can eat!

Yelp
What a treat! A genuine old school dirty burger from a bygone era. It's like taking a bite out of Ville Emard. Now that I've discovered this is on Uber eats, I'll be hitting it up often. I got the double bacon cheese all dressed. I chose not to have the bun with beef drippings because I don't see how something like that can survive delivery via Uber. The regular steamed bun held up perfectly upon delivery. I was even able to zap it for 20 seconds in the microwave without it turning into a soggy mess. Very impressive! The burger tastes fresh and is loaded with all the right things and none of the nouveau hipster toppings (like blueberry Jack Daniel's reduction truffle oil foie grass lobster tail...etc). On a separate evening I tried their 10 inch sub which was decent. I used to go to the one on Notre Dame when I lived in the area and always appreciated their product. There is something to be said for a burger joint that has been in business for about 90 years and continues to make old school fast food. It feeds the soul and brings a smile to my face. While it's not my absolute favourite burger in Montreal (Burger de Ville), it's definitely up there.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with this place! My family worked there before I was born and everyone still goes and eats there. The owners are super friendly and they take real pride in what they do. They have pictures everywhere up on the wall with famous people it's great gives you something to look at or even to spot someone :) Burgers poutine beer is the best from this spot

Yelp
Whaaaaaaaat?!?! Delivery both times I've ordered here took 16 minutes and 20 minutes respectively. 5 stars for delivery. - The poutine: perfection. 5 stars. Brown tasty gravy that I love! Will hafta ask for extra next time cuz i like my poutine soupy lol. Perfect cheese curds, perfect fries. A medium is 7.75 and perfect side dish portion for 2-3 ppl. - The cheeseburgers: 3 stars. Great taste, great size/portion, ok toppings. I hate that the damn things fall apart...literally crumble outta the burger onto the plate. They need to fix this. For 5.15 per burger I expect it to stay relatively together while I'm eating it. I also hate that they put a full huge onion slice with all its rings still glued together...its just too much onion, chop it up or separate the rings and only put 3-4 rings not the full slice. I am sooooo glad that I found out they deliver (By searching "poutine delivery" on Yelp BTW). They have won my business as a regular and despite the crumbly burgers, I will keep makin that ritual order here cuz of the poutine!!

Yelp
Sometimes you just need a little grease in your life. I admit I've been a little slow to discovering this Montreal institution, and while other establishments are considered montreal landmarks now, like Schwartz's, Montreal Pool Room, St. Viateur Bagel and the Orange Julep, Dilallo Burger definitely needs to join that list. They have been serving burgers continuously now since 1929 and with an 80+ year history, that's nothing to sneeze at. Located a few blocks away from Monk metro station, Dilallo Burger easily serves up the best fast-food version of the burger and can easily compete with Five Guys, hands down for best fast-food burger in town. Don't bother getting anything else but the Buck Burger which comes with capicolla and hot peppers. Bacon is extra. You can ask for a "Wet" Burger (some of the meat juices are allowed to percolate into the bread), "Dipped" (some of the hot pepper juice) or "Dry" (none of the above). Fries and onion rings are nothing to write home about, but the burger is the reason why you come here. Unless of course you're a crazy NHL fan. Mario Lemieux and many other NHL heavyweights have links to Dilallo Burger, as evidenced by the walls which are literally covered with newspaper clippings, posters, pictures of Dilallo's connection to sports and local celebrities over the past 80 years. This is a great spot to hit either before a movie at Place Angrignon or to come by after your kids game.

Yelp
Super tasty burger. Have to say I didn't have a super crumbly burger, it was just really good and held together well. I would definitely try this place if you like an old school burger. The staff are really friendly and quick too. If you can't choose between onion rings or fries - you can ask for a half and half. There's also a play area for kids which I really appreciate! There's room for groups of 4-5 and lots of booths too. A gem in VÉ!

Yelp
I always order there when I want to eat a good burger & have it in a timely fashion. They always delivers super fast & the food is always good. When I go go to the restaurant itself: i like the ambiance & the staff is always nice. I've been going there for 10 years now since I was in elementary school & my favourite waitress is still there & she still knows my regular order.

Yelp
Loved the food the last time I ate there a few years ago. I didn't want anything spicy so I pass over the Rocket Burger and ordered the Double Cheese Bacon Burger and a side order of fries. Well cooked, well prepared and well served. The patties were tasty and the buns just the right texture. It was a little pricey, but worth the occasional treat whenever you're in town.

Yelp
Very good burgers very clean professional place always good when we go eat there there's a bit of parking it's refreshing to eat a good hamburger
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Amazing greaseless burgers that are not heavy at all! After eating one it felt almost healthy! The patties are steamed and without grease the flavour is truly amazing. It is so satisfying to eat and not too expensive. For a trio it was around 11$ without tax and tip. The onion rings are great too , they aren't too thick or big but have a great taste to them. Perfect thinness and crunchiness . Truly delicious and keep coming back !

Yelp
Service was good, there was only one other table in there eating. Unfortunately the Buck burger I ordered was so soggy and wet the bun was basically a waste.. It was good though, poutine was good. I'd go back but nothing to brag about.
google avatar

Tarek J.

Yelp
How is this place not rated higher? What a fantastic burger. I've heard about this place for years from various people and I finally got the opportunity to go over the holidays. Ordered the special burger trio and the burger was superb. Had it dry (my waitress never asked) and I think I'd try it wet next time. It sounds kinda gross so it must be good. I got the fries too but they weren't too memorable after only a few weeks from trying them. The star of this burger is the patty. It's the equivalent to my girlfriend's grandfathers' patty; very soft in texture, breaks apart easily, and has a creamy, velvety texture (weird, I know). It's a patty that's far superior to other fast food joints, hence the 5 stars. Next time I go, I'm definitely doing two burgers and skipping the fries. If you're in the area, you gotta go.

Yelp
A great Montreal classic. I love coming here to get a Buck Burger and watch the hockey game. There is great memorabilia on the walls.

Yelp
we ordered from ubereats, thinking dilallo would be a great place to have a bite at home. Turns out the meal for me and my gf was dull. She ordered dilallos fishburger with a salad and fries/onion rings. I ordered a sub. First off, we didnt get the fries/onion rings but was charged for it. Thankfully ubereats repaid the amount. Next, the salad was more ridiculous. It was basically coleslaw uncut with a single thin slice of tomato and was swimming in salad dressing. Looked very unappetizing.the fish burger was absolutely tasteless, less than a pinky finger tip of sauce for it, and nothing inside the burger except the fish itself and bread.. Lastly with my submarine, funny enough, i thought the sub would taste more than the sorry excuse of a burger but i was flat-out wrong. The meat was basically so cooked it was dry. The salad overtook the whole sub and apart from the meat and salad, no onions and no dressing in the sub. I've paid better subs at depanneurs than from their restaurant. Won't eat again.

Yelp
The Buck burger is one of the best burgers in the city. I really like the all new interior but I do miss the old place.

Sam A.

Yelp
Mmmm who doesn't like greasy old school burgers?? Great spot when you need to have a cheat meal. I did take out which was fast and efficient. Just sucks that at the time of this review Allard Street is being torn apart. Good fries too!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
This is a classic burgers and fries joint but with deep rooted history in the area. Both Ville Emard boys Mad Dog Vachon and Mario Lemieux and family would frequent this place and it is evident by the decor inside. Granted the place went through a facelift recently and shed it's dozen upon dozens sports memorabilia and autographed pictures plastered all over the walls but the new look does it justice, maintains some of the old charm mixed in with a new updated look and is perfectly welcoming to neighbourhood families and travelling foodies. Order a buck burger, with a side of fries and beer on tap and I guarantee you will be lusting to come back !
google avatar

Mathieu D.

Yelp
The burgers are as good as one could hope for the price and the setting sure makes for good conversation. I like the fact that it's not a chain fast food place, but its missing some beer variety (i.e. other than Molson/Labbatt) and the fries could really be improved. Edit 2015: The decor has been revamped, without losing the more memorable parts and the fries are much better. Great all around!
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Great burger. Will leave you wanting more. I wish they came out with a burger twice the size. I'd pay extra :)

Sabrina D.

Yelp
Overpriced for the portions, I've always heard people rave about this place and I was very disappointed. The burgers were not bad just regular, but if I'm going to eat out which is very rare, there are much better options out there.
google avatar

Double D.

Yelp
We got 2 Buck burger trios with onion rings. The onion rings were standard, which was kind of expected, but after the reviews on this site I honestly expected the burgers to be amazing and we were greatly dissappointed. One of the burgers had clearly rotting brown lettuce which my dining partner is currently throwing up into the toilet as i type this. The other burger I paid 50 cents to substitue "fried onions" instead of raw ones, and the fried onions were a disgusting soggy mess dripping with that transluscent oil/grease but the onions were still raw. The burger itself was ok but we got the bread dipped in hot peppers and it was a bit much combined with all the other stuff on the burger. All in all I don't think this place deserves the high ratings it's received. Sure, it's better than McDonald's, but my 20$ could have better been spent elsewhere.
google avatar

Carmel B.

Yelp
Dilallo is a great burger joint for your quick fix. Unlike Belpro's, you can expect a tasty burger that isn't too greasy. The service is quick & simple just like the food. Though it didn't blow me away, the food was a good value and portion. I left satisfied. Additionally, I can't ignore the staff being very friendly & hospitable. Bottom line: I won't go out of my way to get myself or others to a Dilallo, but I mark it down as a "safe bet" if ever the option comes up again.
google avatar

Ricky Boby L.

Yelp
Pattie was not juicy.onion rings were descent. You can totally find a better burger easily in downtown montreal.

Yelp
Burgers are delicious! Their fries remind me of my childhood summers. The staff was also very friendly.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend this place as the food is excellent. The atmosphere is great.Staff take cares of customers.

Yelp
Living in Denver CO I don't get to Montreal/Laval as often as I would like but when I do I have to get my Buck Burger fix. To my taste it has to be the best burger on the planet. I was once told by a franchise owner that they use 1/3 each of ground veal, pork and beef to make the patty. That was later denied by another manager that it was simply beef. The first guy even showed me an instrument used to measure the meat for consistency. Whatever the truth is, it is in my opinion the King of All Burgers!

Monique G.

Yelp
Great time to go on a healthy diet. There was nothing of this meal that wants me coming back. Take out dinner -Wings - came with no sauce (dry) Fries also dry -no condiments - the only wet thing was the burger. Not worth the $18.00
google avatar

Yelp
Not quite the original, but almost. As the name suggests, the original Dilallo burger was started by Papa Luigi Dilalo back in 1929, but it didn't get started in this exact location. They had to move down the block in 1967 to make way for the Metro. So the structure is 1960s vintage, and the interior is 1980s vintage. Still, this is one of Montreal's great shrines. Dilallo isn't the only Montreal establishment that's festooned its walls with tributes to the Habs and the Als, but how many places can you name that also celebrate Mario "Le Magnifique" Lemieux and Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon, as well as Hank "Tony Angelo" Pardi and the infamous 1973-4 Ville-Émard Pussycats? And they've been making one of Montreal's wickedest burgers for over 80 years now. My favorite is the Buck Burger, with capicolla and hot peppers. The price has gone up a little since they first named it, but it's still just as unique as ever.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
One of the best old school burger in Montreal. Let's say i didn't expext much from the place. It's not fancy but their burgers are so good that I don't care. The service is fast and efficient. Price is good. You can ask for the peppers on the side if you don't want them in the burger. Totally would recommend this place!
