The Least-Awful Downtown Seattle Bars

"The Diller Room has been around in various forms for over a century, which makes it older than the Space Needle, windshield wipers, and Oklahoma! the musical. And at night, this place springs to life, with a marble bar glowing from the “Diller Hotel” sign’s neon reflections, a wide variety of modern and legacy cocktails that taste good, and all-around Seattleite comradery. Show up at any time and party like it’s 1899." - aimee rizzo

This is the place you must come for a whisky in downtown Seattle! An absolutely incredible selection of hard to find bourbon, rye, and Japanese whiskeys at very fair prices. Christian and all the bartenders know their stuff and will take great care of you. And most importantly, everyone couldn’t be nicer and more welcoming. I have made it a regular stop on my numerous recent work trips to Seattle.

Google
The Diller Room is a must if you’re in Seattle! Best cocktails and bourbon selection without a doubt…no contest!!! The espresso martini is made with in-house espresso made daily…true sign of quality!!! And the pizza was amazing too!

Paul Choi

Google
Wonderful selection of private barrel selection and bottles. They have some bottles I’ve been looking for but never found. Had an old fashioned as well as a pour of Bomberger’s. Wife had a ginger beer. I would 100% come back here next time I’m in town. Alex was our bartender, he’s super knowledgable and hospitable. Was willing to discuss some recommendations with us. The entire staff seemed professional and efficient!

Google
We stumbled in here on a whim after the Bill Speidel underground tour and the Diller Room is an absolute MUST! Customer service is impeccable, and the Old Fashioned is honestly in the top 3 I have ever had! Rob is an incredible host and made the experience incredibly memorable for us. The whiskey selection is excellent, there is something for everyone - from the whiskey aficionado to the absolute beginner. DO NOT MISS this incredible cocktail bar!!!

Google
Can honestly say The Diller room hosts the best private events. Currently attending the Old Fitzgerald event & I’m blown away by how organized & unique it is. They have a wide range of whiskies & some of the best cocktails I’ve had in awhile. Come check this place out!

Google
The best bourbon bar I’ve ever been in in my life. Armando is a bourbon connoisseur. He taught us so much and directed us right to where we needed to be for our bourbon preferences. He is a true credit to this company.

Matt Dodd

Google
Bottom line, if you're looking for the quintessential Bourbon experience in Seattle, this is your spot. They have bourbon here that has been absent in North America for 50 years. And they're knowledgeable about all of them. Enjoy!

Google
My fiance and I had an incredible time here and fantastic drinks. The espresso martini is a must-have, and the pizza was delicious. Christian is an awesome bartender. The word I would use to describe the whole experience is "impeccable." Drinks we ordered, all fabulous: Espresso martini Geisha's Whisper Kentucky Aristocrat Banana daiquiri Flamingo room punch

Yelp
We love our Old Fashioned cocktails and the ambiance. Low lighting, classic building and well stocked bar downtown close to the Benaroya Hall. Great choice.

Yelp
Wandering the streets of Seattle like a tourist , we stumbled on this Gem in Seattle. This Bar has been established since 1894. So much history. It has a cool ambiance and inviting atmosphere. The décor is a cozy environment for a great place to meet friends for drinks. They have a list of specialty cocktails and top notch bartenders. They are very knowledgeable and eager to recommend options based on your preferences. This place offers food as well. We had the cheese board and it was very tasty. Now on to the best part of my evening. I love Whiskey and let me tell you they have some great pours. He has some barrel picks as well. We loved the barrel pick from Russel's and Elijah Craig. We ended the night with a Thomas Handy and a few other amazing pours. Now how lucky we are that the owner Rob was in the house and the best part of my evening was talking whiskey with his guy. He knows his whisky. I make a very good old fashion so he has to throw the gauntlet down and make us one to try. I have to say the best in the city no joke. They make in house the bitters for most of the drinks. Hands down a night I will never forget. we live far out of the city but this will make me want to come at least 2 times a month. It is worth the drive. Come check this amazing gem out. It is great for 1st dates since it has romantic lighting throughout..

Yelp
Let me start off by saying the ONLY reason Im giving this place ANY stars is because one of the bartenders we had was super sweet & made some great daiquiris. Christian was the only good thing about our time here aside from the drinks. The other bartender however was extremely rude. He yelled at me simply for asking him what his name was & then told me not to speak to him. "Shane" So my friend & I left & took our business elsewhere where we also later found out the bartenders actual name was Alex. Will not be returning if he's there.

Yelp
We stopped in before heading to a show at the symphony. We were pleased to see they had pizza available because we wanted cocktails and to eat something too. The cocktails are a bit pricey but really well done and tasty. Service was quick and friendly. The bar itself is really cute. There is a larger space in the back that can accommodate groups.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
The pizza was pretty decent. I tried the mushroom and my partner got the pepperoni. Unfortunately his pizza seemed to get lost or forgotten until we checked with the bartender. He didn't get his until I had eaten almost all of mine. The cocktails were really good though! A really unique and cool menu. It's quite close quarters with seating but has an old timey dive bar feel. Would def come back for the drinks.

Yelp
They do have food options- but we did not try any as we had dinner plans beforehand. One of the best cocktails I have ever had was at the Diller Room: the Diller-ricious (blueberry vodka, shaken with lemon, muddled cucumber, and blueberries). They have a wide variety of specialty cocktails for all kinds of tastes and preferences. We went twice during our Seattle Trip. On Wednesday night, there was only one bartender for the whole place and orders got backed up. On Thursday night, there were two bartenders, and drinks were out faster. The vibes are great. Great place for drinks with friends or for after work. I highly, highly recommend it!

Yelp
Leaving an updated review to recognize two amazing, talented bartenders Alex and Justin. The Diller Room is full of excitement- from the curated cocktail menus with tasty drinks, the fun vibes, music, it's a great place to visit with friends late night. I highly recommend this bar! This was and still is one of the best date night bars for my fiancé and I to start out night out drinking. I'm happy to always receive great service and enjoy the drinks at The Diller Room. Hope you guys enjoy it too if you visit!

Yelp
If you are looking for the quintessential classic all american real bar with great spirits, go no further. It's a nice little quaint bar with low lighting and a nice speak easy demeanor. The service was impeccable, and the bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping decide what we wanted. We just had a little snack of the marinated olives and Flatbread. The bread was amazing. The olives were good, except there was way too much acidic by way of lemons. The olives were way too lemony....it was similar to olives in unsweetened Lemonade. The drinks were amazing. This place has an entire full bar of spirits, wine, etc. This includes an extensive display of Japanese whiskeys, Mezcals, Tequilas, Bourbon, Scotches, Wines, and more. You can't go wrong for any drink you would like. This is an old school bar with a great selection of spirits and bartenders. I opted for the Mexican Revolver, which basic terms is an espresso martini made w/ Mezcal. Two of my favorite things combined to make a smooth smoky Heavenly drink. If you are ever in the Pike Peak Market area and want a drunk made right without all the fuss & no hipster vibes drop on in, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We have been coming to the diller room for years now and we love the place. One of our favorite bars in the city. Not pretentious at all and the drinks are great! I love the neon too. I recently lost my wallet and I thought I may have left it there. I went the next day and the owner Rob went out of his way to check the cameras to see if it was swiped. He was very helpful and kind. Long story short it wasn't lost there but he was very concerned about it and I appreciated that. 100% recommended.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
Slow service. Never got the pizza we ordered but they were charged for it, so there is that. Nice looking bar but not worth it.

Dave M.

Yelp
$25 for an old fashioned? Gouging people after a Hawks game isn't cool. I always would stop by here after game, but never again.

Hannah F.

Yelp
Yummy drinks! Great service! Quick and great experience. The music was a little loud. However the vibes were cozy and nice :) thank you for having us!

Yelp
*Updated Review* I just wanted to Comeback and thank the Diller Room for the amazing and hospitable service I again received on my last visit in September 2023, 3 years after I posted my original review. The pizza is still amazing! Again, I highly recommend coming here during your stay in Seattle! This is the local business to support! They are also known for their whiskey collection so for all you whiskey connoisseurs, check them out!
google avatar

Ari N.

Yelp
Rob's Espresso Martinis are something to write home about. With a pen and paper. With an old fashioned letter. They will change your life and rearrange your brain cells on what an Espresso Martini should be. He is passionate about what a shot of espresso is, and has a special recipe for liquor to add. If you do nothing else in downtown Seattle, go get a two-for-one and have *amazing* coffee and a delicious drink.

Yelp
Total vibey and chill cocktail lounge, in an old hotel. The cocktails are yum and the service was great! The two tattoo guys behind the bar definitely know what they are doing and it shows! Highly recommend for craft cocktails.
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
Came to this bar while waiting across the street for a table at Vons. It wasn't too crowded so we easily got seats at the bar. Drinks and service were solid. Would recommend if you need a spot in the area to wait in or hang out after 10pm.
google avatar

Hailey M.

Yelp
Didn't even get to experience. I walked in with my coffee (as I was finishing it) ready to get a cocktail and the host came up to me, looked me up and down without eye contact and says, "uhh we don't allow outside drinks". He proceeds to roll his eyes and move onto the next couple without taking care of us. I walked right on out after his attitude. You're better off taking your money across the street to Von's, get a yummy cocktail and the burrata spread! They allowed me to bring in my coffee and order a cocktail
google avatar

Robb T.

Yelp
Tried to call in an order to go 3 times and no one answered the phone. Went to the bar and had to wait 15mins outside to get in (no one left in the time I was waiting so I don't know why I was waiting). Ordered 2 pizzas to go, one pepperoni and one margarita. Both seemed under cooked really greasy/oily. Slices weren't cut all the way so I had to re-cut them. Couldn't get the slices out of the boxes without a spatula cause they just flopped and all the toppings just slid off.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Do you like paying $20 for a pour of ECBP? What about $20 for a pour of a BTSP? Well then this it the place for you. Good service, cool space. Rough pricing.
google avatar

Jilly G.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick drink. We were lucky to get the bartender Sean that made us delicious drinks. This bar is definitely a cool spot. We are planning on coming back soon.

Kamy P.

Yelp
Erick and Alex are great! Service is excellent and I love getting espresso martinis here and Erick makes great Tokyo Tea's.
google avatar

Ty W.

Yelp
Sean was amazing! Great service with a great atmosphere and even better food! Cant wait to go back!
google avatar

Tanya P.

Yelp
We came here for the reviews of the pizza and we were not disappointed!! I would highly recommend giving them a try. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was quaint. I really liked it there.

Kara ..

Yelp
Erick knows how to make em! Elderflower Gimlet and Old Fashioned was 10/10. Would definitely recommend
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
I like the vibe. It's a very clean and yet also "dive" bar. It's not overtly fancy, but it does have many kinds of liquor. There are only a few kinds of beer but probably one of them is appealing. Around the area is a lot of crazy homeless people, so you often end up with cranked-out weirdos who are not only drunk. On a late Sunday night it became very busy, but the single barkeeper and another security guy were keeping it all going fine. They did have to take a couple out who I thought was trying to coerce me into prostitution, but maybe she was just hammered drunk/altered. Eventually she fell off the bar stool onto the ground so our good security man showed them the door. Some people may feel menaced. I felt it was part of the experience.

Nate L.

Yelp
Erick killed it with his spin on the Old Fashioned. So good. Definitely recommend this spot!
google avatar

Logan S.

Yelp
OMG! This place was such a vibe. I frequently visit Seattle to see family and friends and I've never been here before. I came the other day and the bartender (sean) was so funny cool and just got it! He recommended some drink I think it was called the bardstown breeze (?) which was an amazing cocktail but the star of the show was Sean foreal, he made the experience with my friends and I so much fun and I will be returning just becuz of him!! Thanks for adding a new bar to my roster!!
google avatar

Cathlyn D.

Yelp
On a trip to visit my friends in Seattle and they live right across from this bar. Service is great (shout out Rob) and the whisky selection goes crazy. The history of this bar is also crazy so definitely pop in and ask about it.
google avatar

Kyle C.

Yelp
Bartenders here were very polite. Greeter at the front had a great vibe to him as well. Loved that he let us know that we did not have to have our masks on if we were vaccinated, especially in the warm heat that we had experienced that day.
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
The Diller Room is a downtown classic and probably one of my favorite dive bars. On Tuesday nights, Justin whips up authentic tiki cocktails (he's a published bartender) and they are fantastic. The food at the Diller is also above average for your typical dive. 10/10 recc

Siddique F.

Yelp
Great nighttime bar. Enjoyed ourselves. Happy to have it in the neighborhood. Not too loud, not too cramped, feels comfortable.

Patrick M.

Yelp
My go to spot in Seattle for a casual yet classy atmosphere + top notch cocktails. Easily the best selection of whiskey in the city in my opinion. Great mix of regular clientele and those from out of town, and great service from all the bar crew, especially Alex, he is the man! A Seattle staple.

Geegal N.

Yelp
Unimaginably rude service. The make server with mustache yelled at me and was rolling his eyes. I think he is in the wrong job.
google avatar

Adrian R.

Yelp
A true dive bar in the heart of Seattle. Great beer prices. Just missed happy hour (done at 5:30) but still at 7$ pretty cheap!! Great people watching from the street and view of ocean. Grab a beer before you head back to wherever you came from.
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
Great little dive bar in downtown Seattle. Stop in and have a cold Stella or cocktail while cruising the city. Bartenders are great

Shelly B.

Yelp
Went here last night with a group of eight other girlfriends following a dinner at the George at the Fairmont Hotel nearby. Both bartenders treated us like we didn't belong and were rude to our group. One of the pictures shows the shorter of the two bartenders smacking my phone out of my hand and onto the ground. Our entire experience here was bad and will not be returning

Andrew C.

Yelp
Came to Seattle for a quick trip and was recommended the diller room, sean took great care of me and my girlfriend we, definitely be coming back, the food, the atmosphere is a plus, and the hospitality was amazing!!!
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
i absolutely love the drinks here! the bartender sean was an absolute dream , gave us the best cocktail recommendations ! he sure knows how to make a drink !

Brady B.

Yelp
I walk in with friends and am denied entry. I understand why someone would be. But I was given zero reason and no one in my group was allowed.
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
Cool little bar we stopped at before dinner. They actually serve food here, but we just had drinks here. There is an Lon bar that takes up most of the front room and a few tables on the floor. This place has pretty good light coming in from all of the windows for a downtown bar. Its not a dirty bar, but it showed its age (which may or may not be part of the charm) Its within walking distance from Pike's place Market and they served pretty decent drinks. The services was moderately attentive, but we all had a pretty good time conversing over drinks here.
google avatar

Kesia G.

Yelp
Hot bartender alert! 6'3"ish. Tattooed. Muscular. Hello. He didn't serve me but perhaps another time.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
Nice spot to grab and drink in downtown. Near the SAM, this bar has good food and drinks. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. I stopped by for a quick drink and snack as I was out and about. Definitely will stop back by and is a great place in the neighborhood.

Jose S.

Yelp
Rude bartenders tall guy w tattoos and the older gentleman w glasses made it an uncomfortable experience and they messed up on one of my drinks.
google avatar

Phil B.

Yelp
Solid downtown bar. Restored bar back installed recently: Great service and pizza is tasty. The bartenders are knowledgeable on cocktails
google avatar

Raul G.

Yelp
Great dive bar! Bartenders were quick and provided solid service. I did not try the food.

Justin D.

Yelp
We visit Justin specifically on Tuesday nights at the Diller Room, which is when he makes specialty cocktails that are typically tiki or tiki-adjacent. They are always delicious and complex, skillfully crafted, and experimental-- yet unpretentious. We've been a lot of fancy bars in Seattle (...and to many, many tiki bars), but Justin's drinks are probably the best we've had.
google avatar

Kristi S.

Yelp
Zane the bartender is amazing!! He makes the experience so great!! My mai tai was amazing!! And the selection of scotch and bourbon! WOW!! Can't believe it took us this long to find this place!!
google avatar

Pete S.

Yelp
After checking good reviews, our group of 6 walked in to have a few drinks. The only bartender in the place, said loudly, "I'm only doing one tab for you guys, or you don't get served! " My wife and I were playing for our own drinks, and didn't want to face the hassle of paying back friends or paying for everyone. The are plenty of good bars in the area. I would never waste my time here again.

Joel S.

Yelp
Step inside and you are immediately in a 1920's hotel bar. Bartenders do a great job of holding their own and have a lot of personality. The selection of spirits is spectacular. Gastro-type cuisine is offered. A dark and quaint atmosphere that honesty feels like a good bar to bring a date.
