Dim Sum Darling

Hawkers Market review #2 (I reviewed the coffee spot earlier and came back to Hawkers Market to eat at as many places as humanly possible) this place was pretty good. I tried the three dumplings here to get a taste of what they had to offer. The flavor was really good, and I liked the extra green onion they threw on top for me. The only downside that kept it from being flawless was that the dumpling wrappers were a little overcooked so they fell apart as soon as I tried to pick them up and left a few sort of mushy bits at the bottom of the container. Other than that the flavors were all still there, they might just want to consider thicker wrappers or a slightly different cooking technique that's all.

We ordered and tried the darling bowl, meat supreme bowl, one build your own and dumpling. The food tastes great! it’s flavorful, just the right amount of spiciness.. very fulfilling and warm.. they may improve on the portions, but full points for hospitality and taste. particularly Eve- very friendly and kind staff

Food was actually very good. The Empress Chicken and Dumplings were really good. The employee was very friendly and place seemed clean. My issue was they wouldn’t honor their 20% off offer on Yelp for checking in. The employee said he’d never seen it and couldn’t give it to me. Update: The employee managed to get me before I left and I was given a refund. Thank you very much. The food was excellent! Paul

In the food court you have a lot of choice - but for me there is only one restaurant that I can really blindly recommend - it is Dimsum Darling! It is incredibly delicious and combines the best ingredients and components of Asian cuisine in the dishes. I will definitely be back and can only recommend it!

One of the newer urban hawker stalls. Came after the gym looking for protein packed dinner. Got the meat lovers with broth and it’s delicious. Plenty of pork dumpling, shrimp, and ground pork. Rich but not overpowering broth. Quite good and will be back again for lunch (or dinner!).

Four thumbs up I have been longing for this since my grandmother passed. The flavors that I felt when I tasted the noodle soup at dim sum darling with noodles, meatballs, and minced meat took me home. Thank you dim sum darling. I left with happy tears after being reminded of my grandmother's cooking. Thanks for bringing a very special dish to NY. I highly recommend - the place is clean with an open kitchen. The staff was very friendly and informative which is a big plus. You may see a line like the last two times I’ve been but they move through the line very quickly. They make it right in front of you. I like how fresh everything seems and from what I can tell, they really have high standards. Location is great and highly accessible which also means higher prices so be prepared for that.

Been here for lunch, tried the firecracker shrimp. It was tasty but I feel the quantity is not worth the price.

Yummy stall in Urban Hawker, but doesn't get five stars as some of the dumplings had hard ends and fell apart. I preferred the chicken over the vegetables due to texture and a strong mushroom taste, but they were otherwise great.

This is a food stall in the Urban Hawker food court. We ordered the Empress Curry Chicken ($18.00). The dish is mildly spicy, more of a peppery spicy via the coconut curry. You can choose rice or rice noodles; I chose rice noodles. The chicken was tender, and the curry was very fragrant. I highly recommend this dish. The service was courteous and quick. I happened to meet the owner, Cheryl. She was a very nice person. There is free WiFi via the food court. The place is wheelchair accessible. The food court has 4 gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. Review 2023-339

I wish I knew this place existed before. It's located in the middle of a food court type venue. There is only one vegetarian option but it is delicious. It a a veggie supreme bowl which comes with your choice of egg or rice noodles, vegan sauce, veggie dumplings, mushrooms, and some toppings. The serving size is very big but honestly I was able to finish it in one go because it was just that good! I got a side of hot sauce because I love a little spice. The food court has different places to sit. There were a lot of people there so the ambiance was buzzing in a good way. There was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. Service was great. I will definitely be coming here again!

*** 4.5 stars *** After going around the entire Hawker Center multiple times trying to decide what to get, I landed on Dim Sum Darling's Empress Curry Chicken with noodles (a vendor across the way actually said it was his favorite dish at the center) which although a bit pricey, was a generous portion and very rich, flavorful and delicious. It definitely had a "wow" effect and it will be hard to order anything else from the center now that I've tried this!

I browsed the entire Urban Hawker before deciding on what to eat and I passed this stand twice. The Empress Curry Chicken on display really stood out so decided to go for it with noodles. It's pricey but wow, first bite, wow. This was so bomb. I loved the thickness of the sauce, the incredible flavorful, the generous portion of chicken (with bits of sliced carrots), the consistency of the noodles and the addition of scallion and cilantro really makes the dish popped. They put everything together quickly and it was the fastest stand where I was able to get my meal. They pulled the food out of a rice cooker-like equipment for the chicken which was room temperature. Because of this I was skeptical but it was so good. Didn't need to add dumplings as it was already quite filling as it was.

This is a fantastic food kiosk in the Urban Hawker food hall. There are so many choices in the food hall so it can be a bit of a challenge to make a decision. I chose this option based purely on how the food looked on display. I felt like I hit the jackpot with the Empress with noodles. The sauce was delicious and seemed to be peanut based. It reminded me of Massaman Curry. The portion was good for the price given the location. Quick and friendly service which is nice when you're in a rush. The food hall itself provides for a nice lunch atmosphere and is nicely laid out with plenty of seating on a first come basis. This is a great spot for anyone whether you work in the area or are a tourist. Enjoy.

Dim Sum Darling was the best and I repeat the best restaurant in New York City while it was there. Dim Sum Darling is closed as of 15 December 2023. So the lady who just said she tried to order from Grub Hub sorry can't give a one star to a close restaurant. Dim Sum Darling loves everybody in New York. Thank you for being part of us and if you want to see where we're gonna open next probably Austin Texas.

Checked out Dim Sum Darling on my second trip to Urban Hawker. I went with the dumpling flight with pork and scallions on the rice, which was a good move! The dumplings were all excellent and varied (chefs choice) and adding to the rice boosted everything to an entire meal. Also went with the non spicy dipping sauce, but if you like spice, there were three levels of sauces to pick from. After settling at a table, I checked in to DSD on YELP and got a 20% off for first time customers!! Don't do what I did, check in FIRST!!!

Very yummy. Delicious rice noodles and even better curry. If I had to critique one thing, it would be service could be a little faster

Only tried the 3 piece chicken dumplings but they were tasty. A bit pricey ($6 after tax), but would go back.

Have been to hawkers a few times now. A very interesting take on the food hall concept that is popular over the past few years. Showcase of Singaporean street food, which of al the Asian cuisines, I wasn't terribly familiar with. Todays choice was Dim Sum Darling, a noodle shop with a "build your own bowl" deal. I got it with a shrimp dumpling and some noodles. The noodles were quite tasty, especially for a soup noodle...which I typically find to be soggy. Very chewy with a nuanced texture that makes me feel as if it was hand pulled. Overall great meal and provides a solid reason to deal with the seating headache you'll need to deal with once you get your order.

Written from POV of the owner of a noodle joint in Cali... My friends and I are here on vacation. I just had to come here for the Singapore food court experience and was intent on trying multiple food stalls. This place had display bowls like when you go to Japanese restaurants except they used real food. It looked so good i had to order it. I got the meat supreme and my two other friends got the dumpling flight and wonton noodles. You can actually build your own noodle bowl if you want. For those of you that don't know, this is their version of Bak Chor Mee, which is a favorite noodle dish of Singapore...HOWEVER... this one...was on s-t-e-r-o-i-d-s!!! If you've ever had this in Singapore, you know that they barely give you any meat. I ordered the Meat Supreme and boy did this have the whole kitchen sink in it! Enough to satisfy any meat lover. Btw they also have a veggie supreme for veggie lovers but that's definitely not for me. Let's start with the noodles of course, sitting in a onion chicken broth, plus 3 pieces of pork dumplings, plus some unearthly delish ground pork, plus meatballs, plus shrimp, plus all the veggies I wanted, plus fried shallots, plus toppings (you get the point). And of course in true foodie fashion, I just had to add the tea egg. Its a Chinese marinated egg like the Japanese ones with a runny yolk but hard boiled instead. Just when I thought I was done salivating over the open kitchen counter, my experience continued. They handed me two sauces: Thai chili in soya sauce for my noodles and soon to find out - one of the most awesome dumpling dipping sauces I've had ever tasted... my friends and I agreed that if they sold it, we would buy it by the jugs. All we can say is...Wow wow wow... this is a hidden gem in NYC and I don't think it'll stay hidden for long. This is truly one of the best noodle soup dishes I've ever had if not the best right next to my joint of course. Ha. The entire combination of my meat surpreme was a medley made in heaven. The Thai Chili they gave me was just right to add a little tiny heat to the dish (I'm sure you can ask for more if you want more heat but I'm a wuss). Every component delivered a different texture and flavor. It was super fun to discover every ingredient. I will one day visit NYC again and come back to try their dry sauced version (meaning no soup) of the meat supreme or perhaps maybe I'll just build my own. Great experience! Love the innovation on an old classic. Oh on a side note, my friend's wonton soup was crazy good - unlike any other wonton soup I've ever had - this is not your regular wonton soup. It's a meal and a great lighter meat than mine. Wish they had a small mini version so I could have had it as a side.

Didn't love it (got the build-your-own noodle bowl which was too salty, overly fish-sauced broth, surprisingly bland Costco dumplings), BUT I liked how quickly the restaurant responded to my initial poor review of 1 star, and tried to make it right. That definitely earns 3 stars! I don't actually want a refund bc who has time for that/it was only $20, but it was a nice gesture from a small business, and definitely the kind of attitude that can build a stronger product in the future :) I wouldn't eat here if you're a native NYer (better dumplings/noodles in midtown for a more discerning palette), but if you're a tourist from Nebraska, give it a try!

Its kinda hard to choose when all the menu that they have is so tempting i love their meat supreme so delicious and good portion. The dimsum 5 thumbs up love the shumai. I would definitely come back eating here..!!!

They have really great pork and chicken dumplings. The dumpling wrapper is also very soft. Great dipping sauce. Quick service too!

If you are reading this please go eat here! I'm a picky when it comes to foods and I stumble across this Dim Sum Darling located at food court called Urban Hawker, at the heart of Manhattan NY, and yes the foods, especially the Dim Sum orders, are great and staff are very approachable when asked for food allergens they will have a verbal information on allergen content if you asked for it when ordering your food. Already added to must visit list when you come to Manhattan.

This place was delicious I wish I remembered the name of the actual dish I got. But it was the meat special but all in all it was great! It's in the urban hawker food court near time square and I will definitely be eating here again next time I go out to NY!!

10/10 I ordered the amazing pork dumplings. the fillings are tasty and the dumplings were cooked perfectly great sauce, friendly staff.

The dumplings were melt in your mouth and the egg noodles were divine. The soup is one of the best that I have eaten in my life
