DimSum Seafood Restaurant

One of the best dim sum restaurant in Central Jersey! Lunch time is highly recommended. On the weekend, they bring food on a cart and you can pick whatever you want to eat. Everything is so tasty and we love it! Price is very reasonable. You can also order from Entree menu, which is also delicious. It gets very crowded on weekend lunch time, so recommend going as soon as they open at 11:30am.

We've come here quite a few times. We went early afternoon on a Sunday and it was really busy. There were a few carts with hot dim sum coming out of the kitchen every few minutes so we had food on our table within a minute of sitting down. It was really enjoyable not to order from the menu and just oick different hot food from these carts. Last review: Food was pretty good here. We had one dish which was beef and feel it was lacking a little flavor. The other dishes were great. Staff was nice as well.

Came here for family dinner, and overall, it was a decent experience. The staff were a bit all over the place and even knocked my cup of water over and said nothing (at least I got a new cup). Food wise, it was not bad, pretty tasty, and had a wide rage of dishes to choose from and came out quick. It's a good spot for big family style eating.

We visited this tea house today. The environment and tea were fine at first, but the overall experience was very disappointing. The food came out very slowly, which I could understand, but throughout the meal there was almost no service at all — no check-ins, no explanations, nothing. At checkout, the situation became unacceptable. Two of us spent over $60, and I had already left close to $6 in tip, which was purely out of courtesy given the lack of service. The staff then looked at the receipt and told me I was required to tip 15%. I clearly explained that: • We did not receive service that justified a higher tip • The tip shown on the receipt is suggested, not mandatory Attempting to force a higher tip without providing service is unprofessional and inappropriate. Tips should be earned through service, not demanded. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place.

2025 and this Dim Sum Spot is the place to eat for Authentic Chinese Cuisine. Dim Sum in NJ ; not bad at all. Nuff Said. It’s all about Food and Portions. Plenty of parking. Old fashion atmosphere, don’t expect high tech devices or modern scenery. The service is at their own pace . When the food is ready, the dishes are served. May not be in the order as customers expect it to be. The price is reasonable. Not too expensive and you leave with a full tummy. Majority of customers are senior citizens with their companions.they are there to eat and socialize. THats why it’s a slow place services.

My favorite dim sum. I would travel all the way from NYC to here. That’s how much I love this place. Food is great and service is fast and good. Affordable price with high quality ingredients.

Came here for a birthday celebration and here’s my take: Pros: •So much food choices and everything was actually really great. •Service is fast as they come to you with carts/ off cart orders were relatively quick. •Spinning top to turn so there’s no reaching over the table or need to pass dishes around. •Servers were really nice and patient. •Parking lot is big/ lots of parking on the side and back. Con: •Had a reservation for 11:30am but waited for 15-20min past that time for the table. •Only limited seating in the lobby while waiting so we waited outside and people were smoking right out the front steps. (I think those people should be directed to do that on the side of the building as we had kids with us)

Came here for lunch on a Tuesday on veterans day, didn't know it gets this packed and today they're well understaffed. Managed to snag some dim sum and main course meals, overall the speed is not great, they didn't give us menus for awhile and we had to ask for them. But, since we have been recurring customers, this is definitely not their norm so I won't know it down too far. Service TODAY: 3 Food TODAY: 4

THE GOOD ---------------- + Solid and delicious dim sum. All of the dishes we tried were all very good - Shrimp Dumplings, Shrimp Rice Roll, Chicken Feet, Pork and Shrimp Dumplings, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Tripe, Spring Rolls, Mini Egg Tarts, Coconut Jelly Pudding. + Good dim sum variety, although it did feel like they were circling with the same foods over and over again. + Decent size restaurant with a lot of tables. + Big private parking lot. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Baked Roast Pork Buns ran out at around 1:30 PMish on Saturday afternoon and they told us they weren't making anymore when the restaurant was still packed with customers. Go figure. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = They employ the traditional dim sum carts here, no ordering sheets like more modern restaurants. = Arrived at 12:40 PM on a Saturday and waited about 20 minutes to be seated. = Restaurant was STILL fully packed when we left at around 2:15 PM.

Made my hubby drive to this Dimsum place because people have been telling me that it's good. Arrived there, lots of people, was given a number written on a piece of paper and was told to wait outside. Wait was not bad and a few minutes later, we were called was seated on a table good for six people. I thought we were going to share the table with other people---thank God they didn't! Since it's a Dimsum place, carts were supposed to roam around with food and you'll choose what you'd want to eat...servers will then stamped the paper you have on your table and move on. I GOT HUNGRY! Why? Servers were not speaking in English and we couldn't understand each other. We were given two types of Dimsum and then for the next few minutes--we had to beg them to come and show us food Not going back there anymore not unless I learn all the Dimsum names and please, please...if you're paying cash---DO NOT FORGET TO TIP! Or they're going to go after you!

The best DimSum in NJ! Fresh, not oily/greasy food. Huge variety of dim sum at reasonable prices. Crunchy Chinese broccoli, crispy Peking pork chops were my favorite!

Good food, good service at a reasonable price. 4 ppl for brunch was $101. Lots of Chinese people in a Chinese restaurant is always a good sign to me. I only did the shrimp Dumplins and vegetables but the other ppl in my party said the deed and pork was great. Will definitely visit again.

My wife's family love Hop Kee in Chinatown NYC and they never believed me that they all pretty much taste the same because it was a few uncles that taught other uncles how to make the same food. We usually come here for Dimsum on weekends usually once a quarter. lately we've been coming here for dinner where we have an Noah Ark's feast. we usually order a salt pepper pork, a roast duck, a chicken dish, a steamed fish like a flounder, my work place associates love coming here only if I can order for them.

Dare I say it: the food here, in Jersey, might be better than the Cantonese food you'll find in the melting pot of NYC. I've dined here for dim sum breakfast countless times on Sunday mornings, along with the multitude of families that are looking for quality cheung fun & baos in NJ. The dim sum was fresh, flavorful, had a great variety & this location is one of the few that I've been to that still has dishes pushed out on carts, with ample space to actually get through the entire restaurant. This is the benefit of being in Jersey & having space I suppose! More recently my family has dined in for dinner to celebrate the new year. While most days driving past the restaurant the parking lot is empty, it was definitely busy for the holiday. This is important to note since I'm sure this restaurant isn't used to an influx of diners / a busy dinner service, so if you notice that there are a few tables dining with you during your visit, it might take a bit longer to get your meal. The phrase "good food takes time" comes into play though, because our wait was well worth it. After trying a variety of dishes, we ultimately came to the conclusion that the food had so much flavor and constantly compared it to the restaurants in NYC. There's no competition here -- DimSum Seafood Restaurant definitely won by a landslide. A standout dish that took us by surprise was the teriyaki steak - a dish where the meat took no effort to chew and had an incredible sauce that wasn't overly sweet. The chrysanthemum tea provided with our meal was a fun surprise as well, something most restaurants don't serve unless you ask for it! The food here is family style so expect big portions and lots of sharing with your table. With the portions being huge and meant for sharing, it does mean it will take longer to prepare & they do not wait to bring all food out at once. This is typical with Cantonese restaurants and so important to remember prior to dining here. The staff was all extremely attentive, constantly checking in with my family to ensure all our food arrived and swiftly refilling beverages when we were running low. As with any Chinese restaurant, it can get quite noisy when dining in (with both patrons and staff yelling to overpower the surrounding noise) -- but that makes the experience even more fun! The family can't stop raving about this hidden gem, located in a neighborhood that isn't primarily Chinese dominated and not surrounded by other Asian restaurants/stores. One bite of the food here & you'll be hooked as well!

I know looking for a Chinese restaurant can be tricky. It's really hard to trust people's rating. Now, here are the couple of ways to know this place is legit! Mostly all the customers are Asian and gotta be loud. Also, you can smell good food as soon as you open the door. Now, I been coming here for years! This place never seems to disappoint. Food is always delicious. You can tell the chef been cooking there for years. If you don't understand or don't know what to order. The staff there are always friendly and helpful. They do have DimSum on the weekend for lunch but I prefer coming here for the dinner. Hope this helps you. Enjoy!

I was not ready for this place. The food is great. The chicken skin is so crisp that you would think it was fried and not baked. The soup dumplings were so tasty and meaty and juicy and goodness. . The service is ok but they don't speak much English. The place is very lively and people really enjoy the food. Now I'm taking a star off because the it's not the cleanest place. The carpeting needs to go.

We have been coming to place for years with the family. The ambiance gives traditional chinese old school dim sum feel. We usually come only for dim sum and service is quick. The workers pushing around the carts with the food and customers pick what they want. Food is good but some items come more on the undercooked side. I never got around to write a review about this place. This is one of our top 5 favorite Dim sum spot restaurants.

Good authentic Cantonese style push cart dim sum. Many places in NYC doing away with push cart and it is still a tradition here. The anxiety of waiting and seeing the cart arrive can be stressful for some. But it's an enjoyable experience to eat slowly and order items as they come. Some of my favorite items are still here but some are no longer being made. Overall quality as of late is consistent and good. Even better than majority of places in NYC. You still have the experience of a very raw, noisy, and busy service experience where loud dish stacking and dropping noises and people laughing and talking. That is the kind of atmosphere the community expects.

2025 and this Dim Sum Spot is the place to eat for Authentic Chinese Cuisine. It's all about the Food & Portions. You will leave with a full stomach. The price is reasonable; won't break your wallet. It's an old fashion restaurant, don't expect to see high tech devices/ technology or modern scenery/ decorations. Plenty of parking . It's roomy . The service is at their own pace. When the food is ready , it serviced fresh steam appetizer dishes. The majority of customers are senior citizens. They eat and socialize for a good 2 hrs. That's why service is at slow pace . Not Bad for a Dim Sum in NJ.

Food was excellent. Had the skirt steak and broccoli dish . Also tofu and eggplant. Amazing dish. I am not a fan of tofu, but have to say it was great

This place is a little out of the way for me and my family, but we continue to come back because we think it's the best in the area. Clearly everyone else does too because it gets PACKED, so make sure to come early! The environment is the perfect amount of chaotic for a dimsum place with the rolling carts, which is really nice since you get the see the food as you order it. The food is always really good! My personal dimsum favorites are the deep fried taro dumpling (with a savory pork/mushroom filling), egg tarts, and the salted egg yolk bun. My only complaint with this place is that they don't always have everything, like they have egg tarts maybe 50% of the times we've gone.

Very rude and bad customer service. They don't acknowledge you and don't offer water or and hospitality we just sat there waiting and waiting I suggest don't waste time going at all. They also didn't let me park in the big parking lot which he there's.

Want to feel the vibe of Chinatown in Avenel NJ, well try to dine in at DimSum Seafood Restaurant. You need not to go to Downtown Manhattan to taste the authentic and delicious dimsum in a wide variety of choices. The food was great, from the hot and sour soup to dimsum to the main course. Their Roasted duck was really good and cooked perfectly and served with a nice soft bread. Service was not appealing coz the servers don't speak English and you will think whether they do understand or not what you ordered. Cleanliness is also a bit of an issue and should be addressed seriously. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the restaurant in terms of the quality of food. The service and cleanliness should be worked on though but I will still go back here and try other list on their menu.

This is a classic Chinese restaurant that doesn't really care what Yelp says... no matter what, it'll retain its steady clientele of Chinese locals (including my family!), which is like 95% of their business. The classic Chinese fare is solid. The servers are exactly who you want in a place like this; a motley crew of older Chinese folk who are brusque but kind, and who mostly speak various Chinese dialects. It's a large banquet hall with a gold-and-red stage backdrop for anyone who might want to throw a party there. There are live seafood tanks, dingy bathrooms, and a big private parking lot. The menu helpfully has pictures of a large subset of their hundreds of dishes.

Great Dimsum place for a big group. Many carts going around for different items. U can also order fried rice or noodles. Very authentic place. Service is quick. Big parking lots. Bathroom is clean.

This is still the best Dim Sum place in North NJ in my opinion. The dim sum items are fresh and delicious. Lots of cart and trays go around the restaurant, so never a long wait time before we get our items. Prices are decent. Dining area is huge, but very congested when it's full house. We got the shrimp dumplings, shu mai, beef tripe, sticky rice, rice dough, all these items were excellent. Their chili sauce makes the meal even better. The service is still good. Staff are friendly and do their best with serving items from the cart. We drive almost an hour to dine here, that's how much we adore this place :p

Food is decent, it's not as good as before. No more ladies pushing the dim sum cart. Lots of dim sum not available we came around noon this time. The quality was as good as Brooklyn before, we will drive an hour and half to come here. Now it's just ok still better than flushing dim sum. The fried egg rolls were very greasy. The only thing i like best is salty egg York bun. The restaurant is very old, including the tables chair... dirty restrooms. Hope they will have some renovations

Went with family today and enjoyed it to the fullest. The wait staff were very attentive! We went on a Saturday around 11:30am. There were lots of people waiting but we didn't wait too long to get seated. The food selection available on the carts was impressive and got all of the dishes we wanted. The food was hot and fresh. Their sauce selection is also extensive including chili oil, hot sauce, soy sauce, hot mustard, red vinegar and dumpling sauce. They have vegetarian options and range of dishes that can suit any palate! The place is very busy but delicious food! Will definitely be returning for the sweet tofu, walnut shrimp, and fried rice.

While visiting the area we passed this restaurant several times and finally decided to stop and try it out. This spot is very reminiscent of the old dim sum houses one would find in Flushing, NY. A very large restaurant with many large family sized tables. The prices are extremely fair and the food portions and quality are very good. My only real criticism of this fine establishment would be that the dim sum menu formthe evening is truncated a lot. Many of the dim sums I would normally order were not available during dinner. That being said, the food I was served was scrumptious and plentiful. The lobster in black bean sauce, Hong Kong style was very tasty and all the dumpling dishes I sampled were equally delicious .

The $1,000 crab was totally worth it. Do it. Your mind will tell you no but your body will thank you later. Outside looks like a dump. Inside also looks like poorly maintained. But the food was amazing! Hidden gem. Highly recommend.

Finally got to come here with my sister. I always passed this place thinking it was abandoned! We got here exactly at 11:30. When you walk in it looks like your typical dim sum place. Big space, big tables, waiters/waitresses everywhere. We got sat fast. Dim sum from Mon-Fri has its own menu. On weekends there are carts. They also have a regular menu where you can order dishes. As for the dim sum menu, you out how many you want in the box. We got our food pretty fast. We were definitely ordering with our eyes because we got full real fast. We ordered - spring rolls, shrimp shu mai, shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, eggplant with shrimp, yam dumplings, fish cake balls, hagaw, sesame balls, salted egg buns All were really good!! I didn't expect the dumplings to be so big. When I use to go to dim sum places in NYC the dumplings were 1 biters. I appreciate the size and the prices. I would definitely ale another trip here!

Arrived here on a Monday evening famished. Food was great and a friendly staff kept us ordering through the night. We enjoyed our time here and would certainly come again.

Came here on a weekend to get dim sum. It was pretty crowded and had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The inside looked like your normal dim sum spot with lots of tables in an open space. This thing I thought this restaurant could improve on was their service. The carts didn't seem to rotate around the restaurant that fast. They seem to have one steam cart and one cart with dry/fried food. The food in the steam cart was nice and fresh. We tried the chicken feet and pork ribs. Both were flavorful and tender. From the dry/dry cart we tried the radish cake and taro stuffed with pork. Those items seemed to be sitting for a while as they were not warm. Lastly we tried the shrimp chueng fun. The noodle was a little overcooked. Overall I might come here again because despite some of the food being just okay, the prices were very reasonable. Maybe I have to come a little earlier to get fresher food?

The carpet has been in place for decades and should be replaced soon. The waiters were rude, not just showing a lack of patience but also caring about what tips you gave more than service. Once a waiter demanded that I speak Chinese, because I asked questions in English. Years ago I ordered a fish and ended up paying over a hundred. Before ordering I asked the waitress the price and she took me to the fish tank where they had the price on each tank. It was the one-pound price but she didn't tell me. Later I heard people had the same experience as me. Each fish weighed more than a pound. They did this on purpose to make more tips.

One of my favorite dimsum restaurants in NJ. I love dimsum and had been disappointed by a few of the places I've tried in NJ. Then I tried this place and it has been in my rotation ever since. I must've been here 5-6 times already and the food is always good & consistent. Pro tip, come here when it opens on the weekends (10am) in order to avoid the crowd and long wait. Made the mistake of coming here at 11ish and had to wait for 20 min! The food is always hot and fresh if you get here early. My personal favorites are the fried taro dumplings, the rice roll with beef and the congee. Prices are consistent with bother dimsum places and can definitely sneak up on you with the amount of dishes you order. However, it's totally worth it for the delicious food!

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 12.30pm. You have the option to share a big round table or a private table- we said we were flexible just to move things along. My friend and I were hungry and ready for some dimsum. This place has traditional Hong Kong style dimsum. It reminds me of the old Silver Palace or Jin Fong. Whatever this place lacks in ambiance it makes up in great food. They have chinese broccoli, all the cheung fan or wide noodle dishes. Some choice seafood dishes like black bean clam and some fish dishes. I will have to try those next time.

Authentic southern Chinese cuisine. Best dim sum outside of Chinatown. In fact, they might be even better than Chinatown dim sum. Friendly service and reasonable prices. They do get really busy especially on weekends and holidays so parking can get challenging.

First time experiencing Dim Sum. We arrived for dinner at 8pm. The food was great, however the servers were insulting quoting prices after each item was ordered and the most insulting was since they closed at 10 as I'm eating the remainder of my food the hostess picked up the plate and placed the food in to go boxes without asking if I was done eating. They also provided us with the check early before we advised that we were done with our meals. The server who took our check stated that we could sit and finish the rest of the food which was not true.

Found this authentic Chinese dim sum restaurant in NJ. Surprised the price here is cheaper than nyc Chinatown and flushing. Food is great as well.

Staple for our family weekly. It is as close as you can get to NYC chinatown cantonese family style and its very close. Absolutely delicious! Large portions. Wife loves everything, kids eat everything. Staff treat you like family

Rivals the top dim sum restaurants in NYC. Food is excellent. Service is highly professional and delivered with a smile. Plus they have a large parking lot and an easily reached wheelchair ramp. Just like in other well travelled similar restaurants there can be a wait during peak hours on weekends butthings move along pretty quick;y. Given the scarcity of other options on Staten Island, this place is very handy. We have been there at least a half dozen times and it never disappoints.

The portions are huge! Very American of them. Value for the money for sure! Best part though is the food is amazing. The chef(s) has got to be Cantonese bc the flavors are there. The clams were not the freshest and on the salty side, but har gow are on point. The push cart ladies are a bit pushy but are correct 98% of the time. It is damn good. The decor is definitely lacking and maybe I missed it but I did not see any fish tanks. They could use a house chili oil, but I would most definitely recommend and come back even after that 1.5hr drive.

Hustle and bustle. We reserved a table for Sunday late morning and of course it's packed - that's good though but you gotta get there early or go after 1pm so you don't wait long? Service is neat and they're funny- they joke with you. Not too bad for what you pay for. I enjoyed the tea and desserts more than the food but it was great and devoured.

This is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurant in central Jersey. No need to go out to NYC for authentic Chinese food anymore, this place might be closest or better. The place could probably use a renovation but hey, as long as the food is good I can over look the appearance. I've never been to any Chinese restaurants for its ambiance. The staff is always quick and attentive to refilling our teas and taking away finished plates. During dinner they would even change our plates midway through.

Food was not bad but service was really really bad . We found hair in Shrimp shumai and told to someone but nobody say sorry at all . Waiting time was very very long .So disappointed .Never ever going again

Food was good. Service was so-so. It was dim sum Sunday, so the place was pretty chaotic. Good thing my sister was able to make reservations for us. Otherwise, we'd be standing in line, outside in the cold weather. I found their dim sum selection a bit limited. They ran out of the Taho early. Would I go back? Maybe. I'll probably go to Golden Seafood or Wonder in Edison or West Lake in Matawan for my dim sum fix.
